..... Needs tires and stuff, miles almost at 40k, but it has all the nice options .. before the work, probably in and around the mid to high $6's .. do the work, probably the low $7's .. down Retail Rd, With the work, nice detail, great Ad for $9,9 asking and $8,5/$9,5 get's a new owner, the options saves this one .. by the way, Sears is having a big tire sale right now, 4 for $160 ..
This is for a buddy of mine... '99 Passat GLS 1.8T w/Tip. Standard GLS goodies (slider, alloys) White w/ black cloth interior, factory CD changer... Here's the kicker. 125k miles. In the shop right now getting new shocks, tires unknown. Located in Boston suburbs, Mass.
I'm new to this so i'm not sure this got posted but i'm looking for an idea of what I an expect to get on a trade in on my car. I hope someone can give me an idea of what I can realistically expect:
I have a 1999 Pontiac Sunfire SE Coupe. 2 Dr. -It has about 46,000 miles on it. It's - some minor chips in the paint -- caused by other car's doors! --the carpet is worn near the pedals - has been hit twice (not serious damage under $1500) fixed and you can't tell. - Maintence current - spoiler - dark green - CD Player - No power anything
I am wondering what I can expect on a trade in on this car?
In looking for a car for my daughter I ran across one I have no idea how to value. It is a 1986 Nissan Pulsar. Miles are under 32k. The body is excellent except for the black bumpers are faded. The interior would be a 9/10. Maintainance is in bad shape, no oil change or anything since being woken up from its 'nap'(assuming it must have been parked for an extended period. Anyway, the options are sunroof, warm air, cassette, no pw, pl, or alloys. I almost feel that miles that low on that old of a car is a negative. Let me know if more info is needed. Thanks
I would avoid anything that old. The low miles either means it's not the true mileage, or that it has been sitting idle. I think that you will find it to be a maintenance nightmare. Everything rubber or plastic will suffer from dry rot, and anything metal is probably already rusting. Years ago, my father was given my grandfathers car after it had been sitting in front of the house for probably five years, and he had nothing but problems with it. I don't remember the Pulsar being much of a car when it was new. I wouldn't pay more than a couple of hundred dollars for a 17 year old one, regardless of the miles.
You can probably find a much newer Honda or Toyota with many, many more miles, which will be more reliable. Just my opinion.
Greetings -- Car Man suggested I post here (thanks, Car Man).
We have a 2000 Land Cruiser that is coming off lease in January. We would like to keep this car for 2-3 more years (best car we have ever owned). End of lease buyout is $31,245 (plus tax). I have done my homework on Edmunds and came up with the following values (Currently 47,000 miles, clean condition, all maintenance, no problems):
Trade-in $29,926 Private party $32,851 Dealer Retail $35,899 Certified $36,749
I figure each of these will be about $1,000 less by the time I have to return the car in 3 months (except for the buyout price of course :>{).
My questions (hopefully which are a little different from the usual):
1. Reality check question: Toyota Financial Services (TFS), the lessor, has already stated they wont negotiate the buyout. Does the buyout price sound good to you folks, and which of the above values should I use? By the way, has anyone here ever been able to negotiate a lease buyout price from TFS lower than the value stated in the lease? 2. We would be willing to lease the car for 2-3 more years, or we could finance it, or we could buy it for cash. Is there a best choice, or at least a suggestion as to how to make the best choice? 3. As to a lease, TFS will only extend the lease for 6 months – is there any way I can make it worth the dealer’s time to get involved to try to extend the lease? 4. Can someone give me a rough guess as to how much additional depreciation I would have on the car over both 2 years and 3 years?
Apologies for the long post – thanks in advance! Rich
Before you send me to my room and yell at me for being around a car lot. I am NOT really looking to buy anything, but this truck caught my eye.
Thought you would get a kick out of the price, I did really until I booked it out. How far into outer space is this dealer?
1999 Ford F-350, crew cab, dually, 7.3L diesel with banks power pack, 4WD, lariat, 6-speed manual trans, tan/tan leather, new rubber, truck looks and smells new, its fully loaded, heated seats, power everything, really nice truck, has holes in the bed from a 5-th wheel hitch. Asking price is $22,995.
Oh yeah, it has 150,710 miles on it.
10 payments to go on the Explorer.....then its time to buy a house.
He collared me the other day and asked me to take a guess on trade in and retail value on his Subaru.
Here's the scoop:
1998 Subaru Legacy Outback Wagon Dark Green Usual equipment
93,000 miles
Many dog hairs
scratch in hood paint l/s headlight cracked
1,2,3, FOUR dents in various panels, about what you could do with your fist if you were strong. Plus a little scrap here and there
Needs a timing belt change soon.
Filthy car inside and out but nothing actually ripped inside as far as I can tell.
OKAY.................
So I was thinking of telling him $5,500 retail and $4K trade max but he is going to have a COW, because I know he was thinking $8K-9K.
Was I really that far off? I rather pride myself on being pretty good at this. I thought I was even being a tad generous. I thought $9K would be about a front line car at a dealer as retail asking price.
Transmission? A/C? etc. Don't forget location (and no zip codes please)
You have a 2dr car, slightly low miles, no options. Assuming 5 speed and no A/C, maybe $2K trade. Add $500 for A/C, Add another $500 for Auto.
$4500 asking if it is a 5 speed, $5000 if it is automatic and first $3800-$4500 sends it packing. All assuming all maintenance is up to date, better than 60% tires, good detail, etc.
My buyer picked up the Audi TT Monday, took the car as-is. I am looking at 2003 chevy trucks and can buy on the gms pricing. I'm in NH, 03060. I test drove both a Black Silverado SS (dark charcoal leather interior) and a Black Avalanche (no body hardware so it looks more like the Suburban) loaded with tan leather. The Avalanche stickers around $42k and the Silverado around $41k. I am looking at paying about $31k for either of them. I liked both of them for different reasons, and was curious what the crystal ball might say for depreciation on these down the road. The SS was fun to drive and a little smaller so it would be easier to park and stuff like that. The Avalance was more comfortable though, and had more space in general.
..... Good morning, how are you this wonderful AM ..? thanks for the great description ..
Let's see, we have a 01 Coupe Accord EX V6, Tons of miles, color is great for Houston .. if it has deep rubber, looks 20kish, no service needed .. then trade side it's probably worth the high $13's, maybe the low $14's .. so figure it's worth "around" the high $15's, low $16's down Retail Rd, if you can buy it for less than grab it, - IF it needs -0- ... $14,750 is closer to a wholesale figure, but let me know what happens. .. :-)
Condition: Very clean with the exception of an "anonymous" parking lot ding to the left rear fender. Repair looks good, but if you know what to look for, you can see that the fender was repaired with body filler....
....... Right now, the market is kinda all over the place on em' .. the miles are just a tinge on the high side, but it's a great color combo, auto .. I have seen them do as low as $25,0 for the strippys and as high as $29ish for the tall boy's, but the real $$ is in and around $27ish .. so figure pack, a this and a that, then the dealers might have close to $28 in it, I gotta figure at least $30,0+ .. ?
... >> with the exception of an "anonymous" parking lot ding << .. hmmm, sounds like a case for Inspector Clouseau ...
Good color, deep rubber, lot's of miles, great options, VR6 GLX, a mysterious fender fix .. in your area, in and around the high $12's, low $13's, miles and the mystery doesn't help .. Retail Rd action, $15,9 and $14,5/$15,5 say bye bye ....
...... >> Many dog hairs << ..l.o.l... not a limited, right .?
Actually, it can be the kiss of death .l.o.l.. .. this guy needs to spend a little cake and get this dude cleaned and detailed .. same scenario here, my partner dropped a 98 Durango FILLED with dog hair and all sorts of ugly junk through the auction, it did $7,8 .. I "no saled it" I spent $125 and a 100 piece Popeyes chicken dinner on it (it clogged 2 extractors) it re-ran a week later and it did $9,0, (the hand buys what the eye see's) ..
Left coasters, right .? - Clean, super service, deep rubber, Dr Dent, now lookin' 30kish high $5's, low $6's on the trade side .. down Retail Rd, $8,9 asking and someone from San Clemente should give him $7,5/$8,5 .. as it stands now, it's worth what someone will pay for a clump ~ so your probably right on the $$ .. )
I've heard about the avalanche leaks, I thought it was limited to the very early models. I've owned a 2002 Av since March 2002 and it has never leaked. I've used the midgate quite a bit and have been pleased with the operation. The Av is built on a Tahoe frame so it rides much better than the Silverado. We test drove the ex. cab silverado and the Av was so much nicer. I guess you can have probs with any car but I came out of a suburban which i really liked and the only thing i dont have with the av that I miss from the suburban is the third seat. Im not a car professional, but this is my 2cents worth.
I am considering selling/trading in a black 2003 Jeep Liberty Sport with the standard configuration (3.7L/auto with popular package and 21k miles. Condition is excellent. What is the range from trade-in to private party in the real world? I am in Dallas, TX. I was thinking $12-$13k for trade-in and $14-15k private party. Is that reasonable?
I want to keep the car longer, but unfortunately I test drove an RX-8 twice last week. You know that itchin' feeling you can get. . .
Well, if I don't do anything soon, I'll probably wait till the spring and then do something while waiting for RX-8 prices to come off a bit.
lance-- I'm amazed it even bid to $4,600. This can't be real money can it? This is a $2,500 car all day long, so anything over that is gravy for the seller. If his reserve isn't met (what COULD it be?) he'd be well advised to contact the high bidder and tackle him 'round the ankles if he can.
How many times in life does someone wave $4,600 genuine Benjamins at you for your Humber Super Snipe?
That Humber is an extremely rare and characterful car, and wagons are very trendy right now. I can easily imagine the price it is currently bid to. It looks like a very nice original car. I'd pay $2500 for it right now. If only actual prices were that low.
That would be $4500ish for you to sell it yourself. It would not be a hard one to sell after a good detail, you have the most important bases covered, Auto, A/C, and reasonably low miles. Ask the $5200 and see what you get within a week or two.
$3000ish on trade is what you are likely to get on trade.
...... The most important factor here is: you know the previous owner and the history quite well, that's because you Are the history .l.o.l..
Not much of a description (almost didn't respond, 3rd seat .?) but they are worth some Jingle even with miles .. whatever you do -Don't- get the dealer involved, he doesn't own it, it's not his vehicle and all he becomes is a 3rd baseman and raises the price, hey it's business.! ..
You need to be on the horn with TFS in about 4/5 weeks *Before* the lease is up, that's because they are lookin' at the auction reports in "real time" in 3 months from now .. you need to speak with a Reg/District lease Mgr from the lease co, the nice folks that answer the phones have no horsepower for a decision .. it doesn't do you any good to extend your rental contract 6 months, that's because that's what it is, a rental agreement .. You might get TFS in 2 months to drop that pay-off to $29 or $30,0, you never know, the dealer certainly doesn't want it right now because he knows he will pay $27/$28,0 at the auctions, your from the Minnasota area right ..?
$31,0 isn't so bad, it's worth in and around $27/$28ish at the auctions -If- it's a clean deep rubber, no kisses, no Walmart invasions vehicle, and the retail figures are over $35,0 .... what are they worth in 3 years .. ? can't say, but right now, dealers in your area are paying $12,000 for CLEAN 100k 97's ....
..... Wow, never even heard of them before .. 1963 Super Snipe, I bet that would last about 54 1/2 days in a beach community in Florida, the salt would flat kill it .l.o.l... I thought it was a Focus at first.
....... >> And if you want to kill me, you'll have to get in line behind my wife. We won't go into that now. << .. I know what you mean .l.o.l..
It's a 03 LE with 27k .. Whoa, lot's of miles going on here, no help .. dealers are paying the low/mid $12's for the super clean loaded LE's with miles in the 8/10/12k range .. if this is a nice one, in and around the high $10's low $11's trade side, depending on the dealer .. you can set the retail value to correspond with the miles.
...... How's things in Charlotte, NC.? .. I hope you haven't seen any flooding .. what can I say, it's a 99, miles are fine, has had some work, it's a coupe, has no toy's, plenty of these around - the auto and the tires saves it .. trade side, in and around that $3ish figure ...
