It's a '99 CDX, All the toys, has a few parkinlot kisses, missing the rear bumper, 117 K miles, I'm the fourty second owner, title says rebuilt, flood damage, Salvaged and discarded. Since I've owned it, I've only used it to drive between keno and blackjack tables on the boardwalk.
Location: Atlantic City Color: That really pretty dark green.
I know this car is choice, had a dealer offer me 9K on a trade for a left over Aztek. I stormed out, what kind of fool does he take me for?
I have a 2001 Audi A4 Black with Black interior, 1.8Turbo Quattro with cold weather package, traction control, homelink, Sunroof and Bose Audio. It has 32000 miles on it. What is a fair trade in value I should expect?
Terry's going to need geographic location, whether the interior is cloth/leather/leatherette, and if there are two pedals in the driver's footwell or three. :-)
Hi, I have a 2001 Deville DTS, white exterior and natural leather interior (light gray with green tone). About 27000 mile. The only option in the car is chorme wheel and some additional wood on the dash board. The car is in pretty decent shape with 2 small ding on the door. I am in Tucson, AZ. What kind of trade in value should I expect? thanks.
The $1K on the 1992 is a stretch given the miles and body condition. You would be hard pressed to get much more than $1K at retail selling it yourself. $3100 on the 93 is dead on the money for trade in dollars given the miles. They must have a ready market for the car because the retail even if in really nice condition is around ~$4K.
..... Okay, we have 02 Ranger, 24k, Ext cab, 3.0 V6, auto and a 2WD .... kinda okish, just a plain Jane .......... owes HOW MUCH ... ?
$17 big ones .... ? American money.?
Man, this guy is B u r i e d, thank goodness it's Halloween ..... RIP, it's worth in the $8's, might travel towards the $9's of he gets someone to feel sorry for him ... I know I know, he got ripped off, it wouldn't have anything to do with his last trade would it .?
Best place to Advertise?? Where should I put my car for sale?
Big City Paper Classifieds? ~~~ Yep, these always work the Best -IF, you spend the money, put in a real nice 4/5 liner for 10/14 days with a Vibrant description .. 99 Chevy Monte Carlo, nice, call xxx xxx xxxx - just don't get it. But .... 99 Chevy Monte Carlo LS, 38k 2dr, always serviced, adult driven, non smoker, sunroof new tires and cared for. $6,900 call xxx xxx xxxx
Autotrader? ~~ maybe works 30% of the time
Cars.com? ~~ still lookin' for the market
You want to get to as many folks as possible .. always price your vehicle less then the dealer, Never over price and when they call "are you negotiable" - yep, it's for sale that's why the ad is in the paper, come see it.!
The word "FIRM" is the kiss of death, always remember, there's always gonna be a nicer vehicle than yours (no matter what you think) .. park your Ego at the door when you sell it yourself and don't get your feelings hurt .. it's easier to negotiate from $6,900 to $6,000 than to have your vehicle in the paper for $7,900 and negotiate down from there, besides you will get more response ..... Also Mathias (steine13) has done a Real Nice job in the do's and the dont's of it all, and if you scroll up a little you can find it.
I have a 1998 Gold Lumina with tan interior. It has 110000 miles on it. What's the fair trade in value in good condition and in excellent cond? AT, PW, PL, radio, etc.
We gots to know where you're at, that makes a difference. And you gots to know that there is no such thing as a 110k car in "good" condition. Not the way the industry uses those words. The lengthy explanation is here : http://www.msu.edu/~steine13/auto.htm Good luck, -Mathias
....... Ok, it's a 01, it's a EX V6, 39k, we got the stuff, new sneakers, good color and we live in Steelers territory ... and he's asking $18,9.
Miles are Semi tall for the year (was this a trade.? - certified.?) .. if not, he has probably the $14's in it, add a this and a that, pack, detail, service and it should be coming to the table around the $15ish zipcode .. I betcha a figure in the mid to high $17's would send it off to a place far far away ...
..... Miles in the 60k range, great color anywhere, it's an SE, auto , new round things ... probably not a bad little ride if it's clean, no kisses, no K-Mart battles .. $6,0 ..?
Your close, depending on the dealer, you should be seeing in and around the mid to high $4's, if it's a real nice one, it might scroll up to the low low low low $5's .. did I say low .?
..... These are pretty nice drivers .. the color is definatly right for the area (slider.?) miles are ok, we have the chromee's .. a little scrape here or there is not a biggie, running the mirrors down the side of a cliff is no help, so it should look and drive like newish ... trade side, "in and around" that $23,0 figure ...
yeah, he's pretty well buried from what he tells me. I have a feeling that he isn't as buried as he thinks... He's been paying like 500/mo for the last 2 years on a 60mo note @ 11.9%. By my calculations, he should owe like ~13k which is much more reasonable than 17.
Anyway, he want's out(got a '53 dually almost running) and I'll let ya know what he gets for it. trying to steer him clear of any domestics due to the depreciation.
Terry, thanks for the info. If I want to sell the car myself, what would be a good price to advertise and what would be a good price to let it go? thanks.
about 450, so calculated out, probably about 16,2 left in payments minus the 1200(24x50) he already has paid extra, 15k. Of which all is not principal alone, so I'm reasonably figuring that he owes about 13-14k or so.
I am sorry, I forgot to include some vital info:-) I am in Des Moine, IA. This car is 5 speed Automatic (tiptronic) with black leatherett interior. Edmunds trade in shows $18419, local dealership has appraised $17000. Thanks! =============================================
I have a 2001 Audi A4 Black with Black interior, 1.8Turbo Quattro AWD with cold weather package, traction control, homelink, Sunroof and Bose Audio. It has 32000 miles on it. What is a fair trade in value I should expect?
........ First things are first .. super detail, all the service records in the front seat, a Super 4/5 liner ad in the paper .. $26,900 "asking" and say "bye bye" at $25,5/$26,5 ..
..... Good morning .. so we have a 01 Audi Quattro with 32k and it's a 1.8T .. color is great for the area, auto, almost leather and we live in Des Moine, IA.
$17,0 .... ? that's about all of it, maybe a few bucks here or there based on the condition, tires and service history .. $18,5 ..? have Edmund's write ya a check for it, cuz' it ain't going to happen in Des Moine, Boston or Dallas .. there's ton's of them in the market right now and the 2.8 seems to get the business.
Hello Terry & Co. I have been trying to sell my 02 Passat for about three weeks now through the Autotrader.com and in their print magazine, with only one call result. I am a car nut and have babied this vehicle. 25k miles, fully loaded asking $25,700 Is that too rich? Thanks in advance.
Well, you can get a _loaded_ 2003 GLX (auto, 6 disk changer, traction control) for $29k without even breathing hard from Carsdirect, so exactly what you have matters. Big difference between a W8 and a GL.
My wife and I currently have a 2000 Volvo V40. Nice car (nothing great), not worth the money we paid, and definitely too small. Our family is expanding, so we are looking for something bigger. I have always bought (actually leased) new, but I think I need to save some coin and buy used.
So, here are the parameters: * Interested in a SUV or station wagon, not totally against a mini-van. * Looking to spend no more than $22k. Less is even better! * Needs to be reliable. Or, if stuff breaks, needs to be reasonable to fix. * Needs to have reasonable routine maintenance costs. * Would like it to be in warranty for a small period of time while I own. * Needs to have 4 doors. * I live in sunny FL, so 4 wheel drive, AWD, etc. not important.
Any suggestions?!?!?!?
I am thinking of one SUV in particular, but want to hear your feedback before offering up.
I'd start looking at Subaru Legacies and certified pre-owned Volvo V70s and Saab 9-5 wagons. The 9-5 in particular is a great used value, very spacious, and a blast to drive. The Sube will probably be the most trouble-free, and the Volvo...well, it's a Volvo. Your S40's a rebadged Mitsubishi. :-)
My first choice in this same situation was a very slightly used Mazda MPV. A fully loaded one will still be below your pricepoint and have very very low miles.
Unfortunately, my wife found her way in a new Pilot and blew our budget right out the door, but that's another story altogether.
good luck.

I stumbled upon a car not on my radar screen, but may want to take the plunge on an oddball. So, what says the great sage:
2002 Chrysler Sebring convertible. Black, black top, gray leather. GTC (sport?) model, with all power (including drivers seat). CD player, alloys. Super clean, like new.
15,000 miles, and, (insert drumroll here): It's a 5 SPEED! Yes, a handshaker Chrysler convert.
I didn't even know they made them (seems like dealers don't either) but it makes this a real nice car (shockingly so).
In NJ, at a small private lot with a top notch reputation. It feels like summer, but I assume winter really will arrive soon.
I have a 2000 Isuzu Rodeo LS 4WD, auto, red, 6 cd changer, 38k miles. My 39 month lease is up in January, and Isuzu LT has offered to sell me the car for $11,500 + the remaining 3 payments. Does this sound like a good deal?
Met with the dealer last Friday and their starting offer was $4100. After 2 hours of grinding on a new car deal and my trade I got them up to $5000. You were right on the mark. Thanks!
Scary ain't it .. ? yes they did build a Very Limited supply of Sebrings for the 02's ... and yes, it's a GTC .. some for 03, and for 04, they going to build some again, how nice ...! .. they probably sell everyone they can make, all 1,500 of them ... .. what a blast, driving up and down A1A in a nice Sebring Convert and never getting out of second .. yawn.
....... 15k, miles are ok, clean car, no kisses, no paint by numbers, good history, NJ .. right.?
$18,900 .... ?
That's a Great price ...!
(insert drumroll here): ..... if you live in Bangladesh and the nearest dealer is 1,000 miles away ...
Dealer might have the $13's in it, add the service, a detail, add a this and a that, some naked pictures, probably comes to the table around the the mid to high $14's ... $16,5/$17,0 should be about all of it ... at the first hint of snow, he will have that thing at the auction so fast it will look like the Space Shuttle launch from the Kennedy Space center .... oh, did I mention it was a handshaker . ...... ;-)
Good luck and let me know ~ these are actually pretty nice drivers ...
16.5 - 17K seemed about right to me, so I must be learning something from you. I actually only drove it because of the 5 speed, and was shocked by how nice it drove/rode/handled. It felt more like a European car in some ways.
I may wait for a cold snap and see what happens, although the dealer was talking about floating it on Ebay. I will feel him out a bit about the price, but don't expect much movement for now.
Of course, I'm still not sure a convert with those big honking doors will work well with 2 smaller kids (my wifes van will take a beating in the garage), so I may go back to looking at sedans instead.
so, any idea on what I should have to pay for a 2002 Lexus IS300 with a 5-speed? Too bad they didn't put the stick in that sportcross wagon/hatch thingee.
Also wouldn't mind a 3 series wagon sport/stick, but you don't see too many of those.
thats just the mainstream stuff (I try not to upset the wife too much).
Someday I will trip over a real odd ball orphan that will follow me home. I still remember seeing a VOlvo 242GT at the NY auto show (4 speed +OD, great seats). Must have been late 70s. Wonder if they are still around?
I would also snap up a clean pre-'74 Gremlin X 304/4 speed if it came my way.
Reliving my teenage childhood here (aka the "era of the bombers"). ALthough the Gremlin X I had was a 6 cyl (4.2 IIRC) w/a 3 speed on the floor.
Actually not bad looking with the "mag" wheels and stripes, even had the 3 spoke sports steering wheel (leather grip, metal spokes with drilled holes).
Now that I have about spit coffee all over my laptop, you guys are too much. A Gremlin?? LOL
I saw a Pacer the other day and about died, then I saw another one, what is this? The 70's come back to haunt us?
My parents used to have a Datson B210, that car scared me. I passed one on the highway the other day and it backfired, I jumped, the driver of the car was laughing histerically.
cstowe......what's wrong with minivans?? I've had 2 and loved them, very versitle and easy to drive. I would buy another in a heartbeat except........I have to STAY AWAY FROM THE CAR LOTS!!! Well, that and I really like my Explorer.
