It has been kept in a garage, so it is in very nice shape, especially with only 16k miles.
No dents, dings, scratches, knee deep in rubber, no fries stuck between seats, etc. Owned by a 27 year old female surgical resident - so it has only gone back and forth between the condo and the hospital for 3 years.
local dealer has a '01 GS430.... 49,xxx miles, normal options (wood steering wheel, heated bun warmers), no nav, no 17 chromees, no mark tunes. white with beige interior. looks clean, no dings, etc...
asking $39,900
no, thats not a misprint. I about spit coffee all over my screen. I had them repeat 2x b/c I thought I misunderstood them.... lol.
what's it worth at the block, about $26/27ish? thanks.
Since the Chevy can't seem to stop breaking down, 4WD is out now and its stalling on start up. Its headed to Anchorage on Wednesday, going to trade it in, we don't even want to sell it to someone, too much at stake there. Plus we'd have to find someone gullible enough to buy it......not easy with a Chevy 6.5L TD.
Buying a 1999 Dodge Ram 3500 dually, 4x4, V10, SLT, auto, fully loaded, red/gray, with 11,300 miles on it and a darn warranty. I'd rather have a truck payment than spend like we have been lately.
There's no end in sight with that Chevy, the engine is showing signs of wanting to give up now, I just want the truck to go away. Yes, we are losing our buttocks on this whole thing, so chalk it up to a really bad idea and hope we learned something.
Sorry man, we just can't keep this up, its starting to bite into our food money now. I cried all morning when we found that something else has gone wrong, we just can't afford this anymore.
I'd rather have a truck payment then go through this. Hubby is thrilled, he will have a V10 again, he loved his 02 Ram V10, great truck, really great. Not to worry though, my Explorer isn't going anywhere, I'm far too attached to it.
I hope you know my first sentence was kidding and my second was serious. You have had a rough way to go and you deserve some good luck. I hope you enjoy the new truck and after this I also hope you get to stay away from the car lots for a long time to come. :-)
Oh I plan on staying FAR away from the car lots, this is not something we really wanted to do, but financially that Chevy was absolutely killing us. It was a bad idea from the start and we most definatly learned our lesson.
Yes, I knew you were kidding, lol, I'm just glad I made it past the 20th of last month.....although I had my doubts a couple times.
seriously, Jolie... good luck with the new truck. Sounds like the ole Chevy just wouldn't quit given ya problems. Hopefully, this one will treat you a little better.
We'll need to know where you are. Makes a big difference in the month of November... Also, while we're at it, color, any accidents and/or paint work? Tires? Love these things... -Mathias
Make me laugh!! We really hated to do this, lots of money lost, but dang that Chevy must just be tired and wore out. Pretty bad when you can't trust it to go more than 5 or 6 miles from the house. We were looking at at least another $1500 in repairs here very soon, plus brakes and shocks.
We've had fairly good luck with Dodge trucks, we really wish we hadn't lost our 02 to repo man, but oh well, hard lesson to learn there.
Even with the new truck payment, house payment, and my truck payment our DTI is still only 24%, so not too bad. Not gonna let it get any higher that's for darn sure, hopefully will have the Explorer paid off by next summer.
So, who won the pool on when we'd get a new vehicle? lol
wow, this thread is really hard to follow..who's replying to who and such. anyhoo i was reading the buyer tips and found a link here, so here goes.
98 mazda protege lx (ac/cd/pw/pl, standard lx pkg) 58000miles optional equipment :power moonroof gold or bronze exterior, beige interior very clean. runs very well, oil changes and service receipts. purchased as mazda certified with 24000 miles. clean interior (no stains cept on the floormats), very nice exterior. all power options work. no previous dmg, clean title. my loan officer said it booked (what friggin book it was i don't know) at 3100 average trade. i was looking for something like 4000. what's the real world trade in value? oh, location is central minnesota.
Assuming it is a manual tranny since you did not specify.
If you get $3100 on trade ACV consider yourself lucky if it is a stick.
Consider this, local MAZDA dealer has a 1999 with 34K on the clock, automatic and is ASKING $6,900 including the 3 year 36K additional warranty!!!! Loaded to the tilt with factory sunroof etc.
How much do you think a 98 with 54K on the clock and would be at retail without warranty? Maybe $4,900 dealer ASKING price?????? Out the door retail of the low $4K's.
Clean it up real good. Nice 5 line ad in the paper, ask $4,500 and first cash/certified funds offer anywhere near $4K sends it to a new home. Easy car to retail out if it is a nice one and your description of service is complete and available.
is 15,700. I think they are a little low on this, but I have done business with these guys for years and they have always been straight with me. I am getting the yukon at flat invoice plus $100 to go get it. Of course, the little monster has a holdback of over 1K, so nobody is going to starve on the deal. The one that freaked me was to find that GMC tacks a 2% of MSRP fee onto all invoices in metro areas of Texas for advertising. I'm not talking a dealer tricked up invoice here, I mean two line items on the original. Can you say extra profit for the mfg? I know there have been invoice charges for advertising for many years, but that is steep!
We have a 00 GLS, it's a 4 banger, auto, sounds clean ..*No dents, dings, scratches, knee deep in rubber, no fries stuck between seats, etc .. Plus, it has the low low mileage package, how nice ... !
What's it's worth ...? ..(if it's as clean as you say) depending on the dealer, it's probably worth in and around that $10 figure on a trade .. down Retail Rd .? .. you could "ask" $12,9 and probably see $11,5/$12,5 .. the miles save it.
Ooop's, there it is .. $13,2 .. that's ALL the peso's, even with 16k, at least you know the previous owner ...
I didn't scroll back and see the end of the lease, but if it's 2/3 months away VW financial will (properly done) negotiate another price, whatever you do DON'T tell them the miles .. post me back and let me know ....
Terry.
*27 year old female surgical resident ~ hmmm, is she cute ..?
...... You gotta figure it's almost Thanksgiving, and if you are north of the Mason/Dixon line convertibles need to be gone .. that's why the price is so low ...
Sounds like he trying to get a buyer, so let me know ...
I posted a couple of days ago. It's got 27,000, white/cloth, CD, slider, no alloys in Orlando. Dealer's website asks 12,9. You think these things are pretty good, don't you?
...... Sorry, I didn't miss it, I just hadn't got to that part of town yet ..l.o.l..
Every since Edmunds did this "remodeling" job it "seems" the site, the screen, the whatever you call it, has expanded and I have to scroll left and right to read the whole post (am I making sense.?) ... aaah, technology. Got any idea's ... ?
Anyway, let's get back to this GL Intrigue with 27k ... in the land of the Panthers it's the right color, miles are ok, slider, hubcaps, V6 .. dealer could "maybe" have $10ish in it .. $12,9 .? not a bad "asking price", but I have a feelin' that $11,5/$11,9 should take it home ....
*4.7 liter V8; auto trans. *Selec-trac (full-time) 4WD *17,000 miles *Baltimore-Washington area *condition better than good, not mint (clean inside & out, no smoking, no kids, a small ding on the rear bumper due to backing up too much when hitching the trailer ) *graphite gray metallic ext./dark gray cloth int. *"F" package (incl. trip computer, keyless entry, power seats, homelink, auto-dim mirror w/compass) *AM/FM/Cassette/Single CD *no leather; no moonroof
I swear this wasn't planned, but dang we can't keep going with that Chevy, its running us into the poor house.
I'm not sure of the specs and all on the Dodge, but will try my best to give ya the run down on it. Not sure of the whole deal yet, will know more about that tomorrow when we get there.
1999 Dodge Ram 3500, reg cab, dually, V10, 4x4, auto, SLT, red/gray, 11,300 miles, pwr windows/locks, a/c, not sure about much else, but the guy said its fully loaded and very clean.
Our trade (ha, I had to beg them to take it) is a 1994 Chevy K3500, reg cab, 6.5L TD, manual trans, 4x4, 150k miles, Silverado pkg, pwr windows/locks, a/c, am/fm/cass (gonna take our cd player out), green/tan. Exterior is in ok shape for its age, interior is ok, but missing the carpet (has a horrid rubber mat instead). Tires are about 50%. Truck looks its age, bottom of the bed is plywood (bed is there, but not straight enough to set anything on) doesn't have a tailgate, just a mesh gate thing. It has dings and dents here and there, nothing major, front clip has been repainted. They are offering $2500 for it. 4WD is iffy at best, it goes in and out at will, engine has a funky knock, it leaks/burns about 2 qts every 3k or so, and it stalls on start up. How's that for a description?? lol
Maxima SE that looks good. It's dark gray/cloth, slider, auto, CD and the standard SE package stuff with about 18K, also in Orlando. Dealer asking 21,4. Your thoughts?
A 2002 Dodge Ram 2500 with a V10, great truck, really great, it could suck the gas down, I think it averaged about 10 mpg. Of course it didn't matter if it was towing or empty.
Doesn't matter anyway, I kicked the deal. Worked the numbers they gave me backwards and they are dreaming in techni-color and smoking crack. I told them to forget it.
So, here we go again, gonna drop another $500 into the Chevy this week. Ugh.
..... God bless all of our past, present and future Veterans ... if it wasn't for these brave folks there probably wouldn't be an Edmunds, or any of the thousands of other information sources that we use on a daily basis, and maybe take for granted .... God Bless em' all.!
Terry great job. To all the veterans out there for your service I say THANK YOU !!!!! You can't put a trade in value on all of you ( struggling to stay in topic:-)!
I used Carmax to get rid of my 1998 Catera last year. The dealers around consistently offerd $4500. I took it to Carmax and they offered $6500. I felt is was worth more, but put my pride in the trunk and let it go. Once they approve it, given them the payoff info (if there is one), they verify payoff and cut you a check for the difference. Total time from drive in to walk out, 45 minutes. Totally painless and will use them next time I want to trade. For those who care, one year ago it was a 1998 Catera with 58,000 miles, Sage (dark gold/gray color), Tan leather with a quarter sized burn hole in the crease of the drivers seat that couldn't be seen unless the seat was reclined, sunroof, Bose with tape and CD, heated seats front and rear, dual power seats, chrome wheels, brakes needed to be done, needed tires soon and had a transmission shudder. I felt the price was fair given the condition. The Cateras are great cars if you get a good one...mine wasn't...great as an Opel Omega, Cadillac ruined it when they made it a Catera.
Hello. My parents have a 2001 S500 coming off a 36 month lease in a week. Question is buy or give back. Here are the details.
Southern california, 24,500 miles, Black/black, Overall excellent condition. Car has been kept in garage entire time. No accidents.
Options - multi CD, integrated phone, F&R side airbags. I believe all the other options are standard in the S500, such as leather, navi, etc.
Residual/buy back price is 51,800. Based on the what I'm getting from kbb and edmunds, looks like retail is 58-59K and trade in is slightly above the residual.
Trying to figure out if the car is a good deal at 51,800, or nothing special. My parents will be out of the country until next summer, so they don't need a car till them, however if it is a good deal, they will purchase. Would appreciate any opinions. Also, is there any possibility of negotiating?? Thank you.
Buddy of mine is considering ditching one of these in favor of an AWD Sienna. Both in mid-MI and owned by non-smoking sane people. Relatively.
2000 Accord EX V6 (auto, of course) 52,000 miles; silver over tan cloth; no nav new tires in frt; rears are fair-to-middling. no accidents, no paint work, no dogs.
Now for something a little different: 2002 Tundra SR5 V8 4x4 regular cab 10k miles; bought maybe 15 months ago. pwr equipment, cruise, all the normal stuff; 16" wheels. It's burgundy ("sunfire red"), with nice matching $1500 'glass topper. Limited-slip diff in back.
It's in really nice shape -- except it has a 'kiss' in the rr qpanel/outside of the bed. $470 estimate, no big deal, but I thought I'd mention it... let's assume it's been done by a 1st-rate shop.
It was $27 new (sticker); $24 invoice... these trucks can get a little complicated on equipment, so maybe this helps.
What are the numbers at the store and on the street?
1999 Chrysler 300M, medium red/charcoal leather, located in Kentucky. slider, 44,000 miles, no love affairs with shopping carts, no left-over frys between the seats. Been very well taken care of.
Hi, I am interested in knowing the trade in and private party values for a 1998 Audi A4 2.8 Quattro 4Dr Sedan in Hibiscus Red with Gray CLOTH interior,No Sport Package,Tiptronic, sunroof, heated seats, no cd player, power driver seat, side air bags, climate control, power windows/locks,fairly new tires. Good Condition with 77,600 miles in Fairfield County, CT NYC Metro Area. Thanks
In an hour to go to Anchorage and pick up the Dodge. Its snowing and nasty here, sounds about right when we've got a 5 hour drive to Anchorage and a 5 hour drive home today.
The Chevy will go to the shop on Friday, fix the 4WD and maybe the stalling problem. Then I just gotta figure out a price to cut it loose at, anything is better than what the dealer offered. I'm glad I got them to rework the deal without the Chevy in there. I don't think they really wanted it, lol, then again who would?
1. 2002 Miata LS, 6-speed, leather, 23,000 miles, new tires, cracked windshield (cost me $200 to replace).
2. 1997 Ford F150 4WD, XLT, auto, regular cab, short bed, 98,500 miles, 4.6L V8.
Looking to trade them in on a 2003 Protege 5 or a 2003 SVT Focus (leaning towards the Mazda b/c its cheaper and probably more reliable, but the SVT is faster with a 6-speed, and the deal would be easier b/c the Mazda dealer is about 1.5 hours away)
Got a 1997 silver with blk interior Honda Prelude Base model with no extra acc...Clean title, minor dings, and normal wear. Just got done with the 100,000 mile tune-up (timing belt, water pump, brakes, spark plugs and etc) about 6 month's ago and new set of tires 1 year ago. It's got 115000 miles on it and I'm looking to trade this car in...Various sites have the car at $6500 to $8000 in clean condition. What Kind of numbers should I expect from the dealer? BTW, I'm in the Los Angeles area. Thanks!
color, interior, your location (all important) and "clean" condition doesn't mean much - need a much better description, or you get a range of $500 to $15,000.
About half a year ago I asked about the value on my 01 ES300 and got a nice reply that made the car look like a keeper. As my lease ends in December I need the latest $ value before I make a final decision to do an end-of-lease buy.
Still have the sticker: 2001 ES 300 Diamond White Pearl Beige neutral leather Upgraded 16" all-season tires Wood/leather stearing wheel Trunk mat Wheel locks Lexus Value Pkg (leather, heated mirrors, garage door opener, moonroof, 6 disc changer, filter) 17,000 miles (yes....very low miles)
One early-on fender bender that replaced a fender and front bumper + paint done by the Lexus body shop. Looks fine to me but I'm no expert. No intrusion into the engine compartment. In for service one time but otherwise been perfect. 3k oil changes + one big service 2 months ago that was about $400.
Pay off is $19100. Downside is I've gotta pay sales tax again (about $1250) since ownership will change from Lexus to me (bummer and a negative IMHO to leasing) so that puts me at $20350 out the door. Keep it, yes....no? I'm not all that crazy about the new ones. Thanks.

Thanks.
