Silver Acura 2002 Acura CL(base model)(showroom condition) Wheel locks as only option I got. 16,500,-16,600 miles.

I don't think resales on CL's are very good. Good car but with the car going onto the extinction list resale might be not as good as other Honda/Acura products.

Abut the playoffs Carolina spoiled my weekend. Its the only pick I didn't get right in the football pool. I knew Indianapolis was going to beat Kansas City. I knew it in the beggining of the week.

........ Great vehicles, well built, looks good, run great, personally I like em' .. have sold and drove bunches of em', this isn't a Acura thing, this is a coupe thing, they are getting less popular around the market, the RSX isn't doing well and Bimmer coupes can sit and they also reflect a lower resale ...

I'm guessing your (not) from the Carolina's, it's a silver CL with 17,000 low miles, if it's clean, no K-Mart kisses, no repaints, just a nice CL .. then trade side, the mid to high $16's depending on the dealer ...

Let me know how it goes ..

Terry.

Well you were 3 plays from being wrong!!! Arghhhhh!!!

Hey Terry, I've got a defensive coordinater up here in KC that needs to go bye bye, it likes to blitz DB's too much and doesn't play the best pass rushers often enough...I think it's got a leaky brainpan. We're tired of pooring money into this defective item so....what kind of trade-in value are we looking at here?!?

Hi Folks, Happy New Year!
03 Ford Taurus SES. Baltimore, MD area dealer. 14K miles. Formerly a rental vehicle, then bought by the dealership. Independent mechanic has checked it out and found no problems at all. Certified, including extended on powertrain. Dealer started at 17K but has dropped to 13K. What would be a reasonable price? Do you have any thoughts about going ahead or staying with this particular make/model/former rental? I expect to keep 2-3 years and then go to something else. Thanks!
Gal from Baltimore

#16392 of 16518 1999 VW Passat 1.8 Turbo by bellet98 Jan 06, 2004 (3:40 pm)

Wasn't sure how to reply to a message.

Just wondering how much I should be looking for on my trade-in:
1999 Volkswagen Passat 1.8 Turbo.
Automatic
34,000 miles
Silver w/ Grey Interior 6 CD changer
Power doors/windows/sunroof
Alloy Wheels
Average condition - upolstery needs to be cleaned, otherwise interior is in great condition.
No scratches. Normal nicks on front grill.
Never in an accident.
Due for tires. New brakes purchased Aug 2003.

Interested in dealer trade-in value.

Also, Would you know what my car would go for at auction?

Just a followup and a thank you for all your help. We picked up our silver 2003 Acura TL type S with navigation on Saturday. It has 12,700 miles (well 12900 miles now after the weekend :)). Dealer added accessories include wheel locks, mud guards and cargo net. We paid $26250 for it. It may not be the lowest price, but it's immaculate, and I wasn't going to let it get away for $500 or so. I know I was in the ballpark, plus I got a lot more from my insurance company for my 2000 Accord than I thought was going to get. We bought it in Westchester County, NY.

Hi Terry, Thanks for responding. I was wondering if you could come up with a price 1997 Explorer XLT 4 door.

Automatic
White
76,000 Miles
Leather
Power Everything
Clean Condition
Los Angeles
New Tires

Was offered $3,800 for a trade in which I turned down.

just thought I'd run this one up the flagpole for the heck of it.

'99 SLK230 5-speed.
46K miles.
silver
new jersey

the kicker to this puppy is that it was in a "minor" front-end accident a couple of years ago and has been repaired since. Title is a "repaired" title (supposedly not the same as a salvaged title?).

So what say you, terry? just a round ballpark number. I'm sure its STILL to high for me, but I gotta know how much this title issue kills it (also curious as to what that is, cause i've never heard of a title showing a minor repair).

thanks.

You should also tell Terry what color it is, what condition it's in, and whether it's an automatic or a manual.

Howdy. I live in Des Moines, Iowa and was wondering how much I am likely to get for the following trade-in: 1999 Ford F-150 4X4 XLT, short bed, regular cab, 17" wheels, bright red in color, 54,800 miles, am,fm,single cd, roll-up tonneau cover, auto trans, paint and body is in super glossy condition, but the paint in the bed is scratched up by hauling loads. I am the second owner of the vehicle...it was originally an off-lease truck. Thanks a million for your help! Tim

FYI, there is a loadful of fleet rental Taurus' on the market right now. Most certified Ford dealers around here, Midwest, are ASKING $10,990-$11,990 for the car (cloth vs leather). No telling how much less than that price they would even be willing to take.
• jlawrence01jlawrence01 Member Posts: 1,757
>>. Most certified Ford dealers around here, Midwest, are ASKING $10,990-$11,990 for the car (cloth vs leather). No telling how much less than that price they would even be willing to take. <<

In other words, my FIRST offer for a used Taurus would be VERY low, perhaps lower than the price that was quoted by dkuhajda. You MIGHT NOT get it for that price BUT you MIGHT luck out and get it.

Personally, I would NOT pay MORE for a Taurus than the range above. There are a ton of them out there right now and the sellers are motivated. Personally, I think that the Taurus (and they are NOT my favorite) represent one of the GREAT values out there. Even if the tranny craps out before 100k.

If the dealer can't hit the range, I would look elsewhere before going over the range no matter how reasonable the SOB story.
• tunefultuneful Member Posts: 35
I talked to a coworker today. As it happens, his last boss bought a Taurus new--"in the shop all the time and didn't seem to hold up as well as some others over the long term." I, too, thought of offering a low amount (say $9K?) and see if they take it. There must be a ton of T's from fleets. (BTW, is 14K considered low mileage for an 03 rental?) Anyway, I like Taurus and think it offers a value package, but reliability and long use are major concerns for me. In a nutshell, still shopping. But, if a LOADED used Taurus w/all the maracas leather, adj pedals, sunroof, etc., which this doesn't have) comes thru at a great price...? Thanks, guys. P.S. A big lesson learned in '03, don't wait til your current clunker dies! Desperation in anything is not good :-)

"03 Ford Taurus SES. Baltimore, MD area dealer. 14K miles. Formerly a rental vehicle,"

A local Ford dealer (Chicagoland) always stocks a ton of year old, 24K miles Hertz SES's for $10999. 14,000 mies may ask for more cash.

When they get to close 2 years old (2002) they ask $9999.

An amazing price on their lot was for a 1999 Taurus LX, 70K miles, for $3995! That's what other 1995-6 mid size cars cost. Seems like the pre 2000, "Kermit the Frog", Tauruses are dirt cheap. Seen ads for 1996's for $1500.
• tunefultuneful Member Posts: 35
...is 14K miles much better than 20K or 24K? Also, is "certified" meaningful and worth paying extra for? (Dealer is charging more for C'd than his non-C'd ones --from what I can tell, C'd consists of extended powertrain warranty-?). "Kermit the Frog"... good one... I call some of them "jelly beans on wheels"...

..... It depends on the options and miles ..

If it's a base SES, no leather, no slider, 24 V6 duratech not the FFV, usually no power seat in the pass side and miles in the 12/14k range .. then the dealer probably paid the mid to high $9's for it at the Ford/rental auctions, so you figure the auction fee, transport, a little service, detail, maybe hits the table at $10,5/10,9ish, so figure you should be able to buy it for in and around the $11,9ish figure, maybe a little more, maybe a little less, depending on the condition and color ...

Miles always predicates price .. the 25k ones probably hit the table at around $9ish, should be able to buy one for in and around the $10,5ish zipcode .... "certified " ..? .. if you are going to drive alot of miles it's a good thing, it's a warranty and your paying for it, add another $800/$900ish, but thats about it ...

Good luck and let me know ..

Terry.

........ 97 4dr Exploder XLT, almost 80k, good color, new round things, 2WD and you say it's clean .. lots of these around.

Eh', I'm not standing there, but he's in the right zipcode, "could" "maybe" be worth as much as $4,5, but that would be all the peso's in the parlor .. what figure did you think it was worth on a trade ..?

Terry.

I sold a couple of 1999 Taurus LX from the fleet this year - 50-60k miles for $4,500. They were strictly no negotiation deals. One guy tried to talk me down but I had a couple of guys in the plant who would have given me $4,500 if the drivers did not take them.

Personally, I won't buy another Taurus for the fleet at this point. No complaints about the reliability - it is just the rapid depreciation that will kill me.

Wife has a lease Taurus from her job (one of those "you can pick out whatever color Taurus that you want" deals). She has 60k on it in two years up here in God's little freezer (Chicago) and hasn't had any problem with it.

Hi there. We have two vehicles that we need to sell. The first is a 2000 Yukon Denali, grey, 71,000, leather, power everything, average condition. We haven't had luck selling on the internet or newspaper so wonder about dealer trade-in? Also, I wonder about trade in and/or private party for a 2002 Camry LE with aftermarket leather, white, good condition, with 55,000 miles. We live in Kansas City, MO. Thanks so much in advance.
• rroyce10rroyce10 Member Posts: 9,332
Hi Terry,

I'm looking for a private party estimate for the following:

1996 Acura Integra GS-R hatchback
black/black cloth
in-dash CD
125k miles

I'm in the Boston area.

Thanks in advance!

================

Not much of a description here .. tall miles, seats can't have that I drove the soccer team 1,000 miles, deep rubber, all the service, no repaints .. trade side, in and around that $3ish zipcode, down Retail Rd: *asking* $4,9, getting $4,5 .. I don't have enough info ..

Terry.
• rroyce10rroyce10 Member Posts: 9,332
...... Miles are low low low, right color, we have all the right options, we need some rubber ..

Trade side, in and around ultra high $6's, low $7's .. down the scary path to Retail Rd, a super detail, a wonderful ad, new sneakers, *asking* $9,900 and cut it lose for the first $8,5/$9,0 ..

Terry.
• rroyce10rroyce10 Member Posts: 9,332
....... It's kind of hard to hit this one, I would have to see it .. the miles are kind of high, it has some repair ($500 -$8,272?), these things have to be in the "wrapper", puuuuurfect to see any money ... "maybe" $13/$15,0 wholesale money, "maybe" $15/$18ish on the retail side, I just sold a 00 with 19k "glow in the dark" type for $22,0 and I was happy to get it .. what are they asking .?

....... Jump back Jack..!

**Please look at the pictures as they describe the car better than words can.

======== Hmmm, what language do they speak ..?

**The car was in an accident where it was hit on the front. I am told it is a very light front hit where the hood didn't ’ need to be replaced. The accident happened more than a 2 years ago but because of the accident it does carry a rebuilt title.

====== .. Aaah, helloooo it's a rebuilt title, that means the vehicle has more than 50% of value and the ins company paid for it ...

**This is NOT a salvage title so there will be no problems registering the car**. The car has no reserve go good luck bidding on this SLK230.

======= Oh, thank God, I thought maybe I was buying a vehicle with something wrong with it ~ Dooooh.! you can register a sunken boat for goodness sake .....!

**Correction: This car had the hood replaced, I had it confused with another silver SLK. Sorry for this.**

====== Yeah, who called you .? .. the crew on the Space Shuttle when they flew over and saw all those ripples in the paint ...?

Who are these guys .. Hit Rip and Skip Motors ....?

Probably a $7/$7,500 vehicle .. $10grand would A*L*L the money on the Retail side .. you have to own these waaaaay back to grab the next owner .l.o.l..

hey, $7k vehicle? I hit that pretty good then. That's about where I would have gone with the bidding. 'scuse me while i pat myself on the back. ;)

I didn't even see that replaced hood thing. they must have added that info after i first saw it.

so rebuilt is the same as salvaged? That's the info I was looking for.

One other advantage of a "certified" car is they may qualify for lower interest rates. Toyota dealers here in Chicago were offering 3.9% on all CU's.
• tomcat630tomcat630 Member Posts: 854
"Personally, I won't buy another Taurus for the fleet at this point. No complaints about the reliability - it is just the rapid depreciation that will kill me."

You know Ford's gotta do something, when even fleet buyers are now shying away from Tauruses.

Hi,

I have a fairly good shape 1988 chevy celebrity and I wanted to trade it in to the pacifico mazda dealership in philadelphia. But I am not sure how much I could get for it? I only had to take the car in the shop once in my 5 to 6 year use.
• clpurnellclpurnell Member Posts: 1,083
A dealer may give you 500. I would sell it in the paper for 1500 to 2000 it will be gone in a week.
• driftracerdriftracer Member Posts: 2,448
right, for sure. You may even get a $100 trade offer. Clean it up, put a sign in it, and look to get $1000-2000, depending on "the rest of the story".
• carguy58carguy58 Member Posts: 2,303
I would have thought my trade in would be like 20K. 16,500 is all I could get right now? I plan on keeping this car until 2008-2009 so would depreciation make a difference on my car's value in the long term? The Honda Accord Coupe has good resale value and the CL don't? Acura Legends have great resale value and the car has been dead for nearly a decade.

Thats why I posted because I thought my cars value was in question.
• rroyce10rroyce10 Member Posts: 9,332
........ We have had quite a few folks asking about their CL's and Honda Coupe's in the last 5/6 days or so, and neither is burning down any bridges .. if you go and scroll back, really none of the 2drs are pulling any heavy metal right now, BMW, Benz and thats including the RSX ... see, it's a coupe thing, not a Acura thing ...

Throwing the Legend in the mix is a no-counter .. great vehicle, great history and everyone has $6/$7 grand for a clean 10 year old vehicle, who knows, maybe in 2012 your CL will be worth the same ...... :)

But if it's a money thing, drop it down Retail Rd .. clean it up with a great detail, a superb and wonderful 5 liner Ad, service records on the front seat - $19,9 *asking* and grab the first $18,5/$19,5 ...

Make sense ..?

Terry.

Sorry, if I left out the details.
Condition of the Van:
1) No major dings.
2) Paint is still glossy. Have few very small scratches, nothing major.
3) Everything (including electrical, ac) works fine.
4) Tires have good amount of thread left.
5) May need break pads but I have to check.
6) One fender bender recently that has been completely fixed. Al that was required was to fix fender, bumper, and the doors along with the lamps etc. But all fully fixed thru insurance.

Let me know if you need any more info.

Thanks

Hi,

I am trying to get some idea about what to expect for trade-in of my 1997 Nissan GXE:
Location: Bay Area, CA
Planning to trade-in for a new Acura TL
Miles: 84,100
Sunroof, 6-CD, Dual AC, Pwr everything.

Thanks in Advance

==============

Not much going on here .. in the land of Joe Montana and we have 85k, it's a GXE, dual breeze, slider, better have newish tires, service up to date, no Kmart kisses .. trade side, in and around the mid to high $3's, if it's super clean, looks and feels like a 01 with 25k, needs -0-, then you "might" head more towards that $4,5 figure .. but I have a feeling that the fix-it and the miles will come back to haunt you at $3,5ish ..

Let me know how it goes ..

Terry.

I have the typical base model 2001 Dodge Intrepid 4 Dr ES Sedan. Dark Blue. There are 46k miles. The car is in good condition on the outside - no dings or dents. Inside the vehicle is clean with no stains and decent floor mats.

The car is located in the northwest suburbs of Chicago.

If I send it out to the auctions, what will I get for it? I will probably end up selling the car to an employee but I want to know the minimum that I should charge.

I plan on getting an Infiniti FX within a month. I have been looking at used ones with +/- 10K miles, with Prem Package. But according to what I am seeing it seems as though a brand new one is cheaper than a used one. A new one 2003 or '04 would be around $500-$1000 over invoice. Why is that? Are these vehicles supposed to depreciate, like every other vehicle? Is there something I am missing? I was hoping they would become more affordable once they were considered used.

Sedona red
28k miles
California/Bay area.
5 sp manual
aftermarket OZ prodrive wheels (17x7) with brand new tires.

Trade in for a Volvo S60R or an Infiniti G35x

Should I try the nearby Carmax?

cheers
