>>> am not mad or upset at you, I just wish people would only answer if the may know the answer. Not because they are board.<<<
hah, kinda funny.... I think Terry knows more than anyone here w/ respect to values of vehicles.
As for why TMV went up, well, your guess is as good as mine, Terry's or your neighbors. as said before, its just a guide, intended to be used as a guide, thats it. Put the same thing in next week, it may say its $2,000 less than today. A month from now, it may be worth $500 more, who knows what these guys think or where they get their info or how they compute the value..... and not to help, values of cars are kinda a wierd science, you know? depends on the weather, barometric pressure, angle of the moon vs. the hill I'm climbing w/ respect to which degree i'm heading, you get the picture....
It doesn't sound like you are too familiar with this board, but what great service Terry provides here (free and on his own time, I may add) is he'll give you the real world value of your car... take it as you may, but he is 99% dead-on..
a) Terry (rroyce10) is a tremendous resource, who helps a lot of folks for free
b) Terry has a sense of humor
Your comments about him being a "dummy" and saying that you don't consider it possible that he "may know the answer" reflect poorly on you, not on him. If you really want to know what your car is worth in the real world (not in the online guides), Terry's a great resource. If you want to ignore and/or insult him, then I suggest you take the car to a few dealers (or even better, Carmax), and get a quote.
Now, please be a bit more specific on the car - ie - condition, mileage, color, where it lives, more details on the damage, options, etc... Please be detailed, the more accurate you are, the more accurate answer you'll receive. We'll see if we can't pin down what the car is worth, we'll see what you owe, then you'll have a few options.
to trade a car, easy, step 1- drive to dealership. step 2- get out and talk to salesperson. Step 3 - ahh, you get the picture.
All I can say is thank goodness Carolina won yesterday so the Pats finally get a playoff game against a team they hadn't already beat this season (i.e. Rams, Colts, Eagles).
Go Pats!!!
I am not yet to Terry's level of comedic ability, but I'm working on it.
You probably don't know this, but Terry has been on here at 5 am getting accurate to the dollar trade evaluation opinions on his own time, and it isn't like he gets paid to help folks.
Take a deep breath, relax, etc.
If so, people have no taste anymore, :P
1.8T or 2.8?
Manual or Auto?
Leather or leatherette?
Sunroof?
Location?
the closest one is about 800 miles away.
I love in upstate NY.
I just looked at a 31k 01 ES300 and without looking at the Vin#, I couldn't tell if it was a 01 or 98, this thing looked like it just got back from the gang wars in Compton or was in the Alligator pits in the Everglades ... if yours is a nice one, deep rubber, been serviced, no AK47 hit's .. then trade side, in and around the ultra high $3's, maybe the low $4's depending on the dealer ...
Me personally, this is a perfect vehicle for a trip down Retail RD .. super detail, service records duct taped to the windshield, great 5 liner ad, $6,900 *asking* and cut that bad boy lose at the first $5,5/$6,5, this shouldn't last long, hard to get and hard to find if it's a Clean one ....
Let me know how it goes ...
Terry.

Condition: I would say fair ... some scratches and door dings ... but no large dents or anything. Paint is good considering it has been stored outside for a long time.
Any ideas on what we could get for a trade on a 2004 Corolla CE?
Thanks guys for this service ... I am realy in the dark on this one.
Frankly I kind of liked the car, it got great MPG, and was cheap to maintain, but getting the parts has been a real problem ... as they are often a one week back order :-(
I've hit barns on many occasions .. it may be the one across the street from the fairway, but I have hit em' ...
Terry.
How is that golf swing coming? Had much practice lately? little chilly here, so no practice in awhile....
The "03's with 4/6k with the Bozo sound, slider, leather and the 6-speed's, are doing in and around that $29/$30ish range at the auctions (about $35 sticker) so they are doing some pretty strong Rubles ..
That being said, "I would think" that you could get $1,5/$2,000 off maybe, that's cuz' it's January (winter) another 6 weeks they should get all the monies .. ya know, "maybe" trade for a $25/$26 difference, the base models they will give away ... check around, you have a trade that Everyone wants.
Good luck, let me know ..
Terry.

On another note, we had a very eventful morning. Seems one 2004 Explorer was throwing a hissy, first no heat at all, then the dang truck overheated, finally got to the tire place and got the new winter tires. Truck has an appt at the Ford dealer on Wednesday to have the cooling system checked. Such fun at -55.
And no, I'm not going to trade it in yet. ;-)
regarding barns, etc.. one time i was playing golf near a farm (with a barn), near used car lot(don't know if aka ever bought something there).
someone tee'd their ball up, and before he took a swing, we saw a dog headed toward the tee off area, so in jest i said 'watch out for that ball eating dog'. guess what the dog did? it absofrigginlutely took off with the ball!
at least noone spoke about my horrible round of golf after that.
-20F is warm for ya, eh !!! I guess only in mooseland !
And mrsmaddmaxx.. just relax.... read back, say 10000 posts and you'll get it. I certainly didnt get your joke at all. Maybe I am dumb too, lol !
bluestar1......stuff happens when its cold, whether it be a new or 10 years old. Its kind of a Ford thing, we've owned 3 6-cyl Ford's and they have all done the same thing. We just laugh and say its a Ford thing. We know what's wrong and it will get resolved on Wednesday.
What you have is a basic small 4 door sedan with Automatic. It does not have the following like a Civic. It also is the old style, pre-1999.
65K Automatic, deep in rubber, fair looking condition. California can be a strange place, but around here $1500 is all the money on trade for that beer can on wheels.
RE: '97 Altima estimate. I bought my 97.5 GXE "Limited Edition" silver for $7500 at a dealer last month. It is clean, had 48k miles, and looks like it is 1999 on the calander. I prob'ly could have held out for $6900, but I got a good trade price.
You answered a question was afraid to ask, too. If "hard to get, hard to find", I'm happy!
about what I expected ... I told her not to buy it :-) The best thing is that I could work on it myself ... it was about as simple as a (somewhat) modern car gets. Funny thing is that it has been much more reliable than my Audi I owned ahwile back... at 1/3 the cost.
Mark------------ in southern California (71 degrees today)
2WD for me.
So, I am asking about auction prices for 2003 Murano SL's with the Premium Package (but no DVD), with 2WD, and about 12-15k in miles.
Thanks Much.
Damon
To answer your question first, as with a Bimmer, a warranty is very valuable on an Audi .. cost of repair can pound that piggy bank to pieces.
The miles are semi-ok, the color is great but not a door-buster, we have the slider, we have "almost" leather seats, if it's nice, clean, deep rubber, no touch ups, service was yesterday .. then trade side, in and around the $15's ..
Which one is the better vehicle ..? .. you need to drive them, and that's not around the block .. get with the dealer and cough up some ID, and drive both for an hour or so with No salesman, your streets, your mailboxes, you get the idea .. these are 2 separate vehicles doing 2 separate things.
Good luck and let me know ..
Terry.
i bet your old explorer never left you stranded like this? l.o.l.....
I am in the market for a 2003 TL type s. Locally the dealers are marking their cars 28-29k. Which is more than the 24-26k I feel the car is worth. Am I living in a dream world? Should I just get an 02 for around 21-22k.
Thanks in advance

Wow!
Drift, thanks, I couldn't explain it, but its something like that, the dealer said it sounds like air in the system.
Mark, its no biggie, I expect little things with a new vehicle. I still consider it trouble free, this is nothing that's its fault or Ford's fault.
butch, my old explorer did much worse, from no restart after fueling up to the heater being broken for 6 months.
Ok, now back to our regularly scheduled programming. I swear I'm going to start my own thread.......What in the world is akangl's weather today?

At least, that is what I told my dad happened to my 1970 Maverick.
Dan
For me there are only two acura dealers in the state. I have been driving down to Chicago as they seem to wheel and deal a bit more there.
From what you said then the 25k for an 03 TL-Type S with no nav is not that crazy of an offer

kinda paints a picture of what you are seeing at dealers, they can ask what they want, but what they will sell the car for, you don't know till you sit down with 'em... have you talked to any of those dealers? or just looked at the prices. you never know..!.!.!
