Here a Path, there a Path .. old Mcdonald had a Path .......
Another auto 99.5 LE 4x4 with some miles going on .. we got the Bozo sound, we even have the slider and side balloons, pearl with the tan guts - good combo anywhere, new sneakers and stoppers, service is 100%, clean history, a few friendly K-mart kisses here and there and your down the street from KC Chiefs ... if it's as nice as you say it is, no funny stuff in the ashtrays, no soccer Mom interior .. then trade side, in and around the tall $8's, maybe the low $9's on a good day ...
Let me know how it goes ...!

Thank you

I'm sure he was referring to the location of the vehicle. The same vehicle will be worth different $$ depending on the market in the particular area. You'll find the same with our True Market Value tool - for example, a black Jetta may sell more easily for more $$ in Maine than in Florida.
To give you a "straight answer," Terry needs that info. He volunteers at lot of time in here, so I'm sure it's as frustrating to him as it is to you that he couldn't answer your question the first time - please don't take offense!! Now that you've provided the location, I'm sure an answer will be forthcoming.

Can you tell me what the trade-in value would be on my '97 Saturn? The details are as follows:
4 door SL1
103,500 miles
Black Gold exterior, tan interior
Sunroof
Power windows & doors
Driver & passenger front airbags
Post factory alarm with engine starter installed

Any help would be appreciated.
93 Sentra SE-R
White with grey interior
5 speed
60,300 original miles
Provo, UT area
1 shallow dent in the driver's door 6" long or so with some touch up paint
A couple tiny parking lot dings with no paint broken
Scuffs on the lower part of the front bumper
Just had it detailed, shines up nicely
No cruise, no roof, no PW/ no PL - base SE-R only
Cold A/C
Original Nissan AM/FM Cassette
New front brake pads and rotors 5k miles ago
Michelins match but needs new rubber
One busted driving light lens, but both lights work
Missing center caps from alloy wheels
Overall, it's not perfect but is in very nice condition, 100% original with NO aftermarket mods. Any thoughts on a private party number? Also, do you think the local paper is the best way to go here, or should I try eBay/AutoTrader for a wider audience? It's pretty hard to find these in decent condition anymore.
Or should I make my wife mad and just keep it
Thanks in advance,
Jason

1999 GTI GLS (4 cyl, new body style)

Tape deck, no cd, no monsoon, no options.
Condition - Could be better. Makes a grinding noise when it starts. My mechanic years ago told me it was the starter and it wasn't worth fixing until it broke. Well it hasn't broke and thus it hasn't been fixed. Rear wiper has always sort of worked. Tires match and have some life left on them. A few years ago I backed into a telephone pole and as a result there are two very small "holes" in the paint on the corner of the rear bumper. Each of them significantly smaller than a dime. Which have been touched up in a quick amateurish way. You won't notice them from a distance. However, you can find them when you are up close. Also, left rear bumper is pressed in a 1/8 of an inch where the bumper meets the wheel well. Interior cleans up well. However, I wore through the original drivers floor mat and have replaced it with a wall mart special.
Thanks in advance for the help.
Folks that are new to the board, take a look at robbieg's post (#22109). It is probably the best example of what a good "What is my car worth?" post should look like.
kichan, NY is pretty big. There may (but may not) be differences between NYC and Watertown on this one...not being rude, I'm trying to help.
Here's something I posted a bit back to help you decide how to list location.
If you live in or pretty near a metro area, something like "Milwaukee" is good. If you live in a suburb, something like "Whitefish Bay" is too specific--Terry's no cartographer, so in that case, something like "northern Milwaukee suburbs" is better. Finally, if you do live in the middle of nowhere, something like Beaver, WI is totally unhelpful, but something like "Northern WI" is ok, because the market dynamics aren't a lot different from Beaver to Phillips. I live in Oconto, WI. So where the hell is that? BUT, if I say "Green Bay area" that's great, a) because he knows where that is and b) it's where I would likely sell or trade in the car anyway. Lastly, zip codes are not locations....

Actually, most people that live in NYC think the state (if not the world) ends somewhere around the Rockland county border, but that's another issue.

And please, solicitation is bad... but I always appreciate it if I learn someone's got some nice wheels for sale... if I don't need them, I usually know someone who does... at the present time, there are at least two people here at work who could use a decent car.
For instance, if fensterlips' white 94 Benz had been in sunny Indianapolis instead of dreary SoCal, it's even money I'd be driving it today...

Thanks
If I don't need them, I usually want to buy them anyway!

Mood lighting around ceiling
Wood trim
Pleated shades on side windows

Condition is overall very good. I've kept multiple floor mats on the carpet, so that's in excellent shape. There are a few rock chips on the fenders and 2 small dings on the front fender where someone backed into me with a trailer hitch. Just had the transmission replaced. Has been regularly serviced as required at the Chevy dealer. The rear door window has some minor etching from the wiper blade. Cost to replace is $312 - is that something I should do before I put it on the market? Thanks!

Well ................ the miles aren't bad for the year, it better be an auto, we have the power pack, color is good for the area, the rubber better be deeper than my buddies flooded house in Pensacola, sunroof sounds aftermarket and we have new stoppers .... IF ~ we have cold breeze, serviced, looks/feels and drives like a 50ker .. then trade side in and around the $1,5ish zipcode, if it's a just a rough ol' 100k Saturn that needs stuff then your driving a $900 vehicle - or less .................
Terry.
Thanks for the response. To be more specific about the area where I live, it's in Orange County, NY (about 50 miles NW of Manhattan). The sunroof came with the car (bought it as a demo w/about 8K miles). Yes, it is an automatic.
The dealership has the title to the 2002.
Thanks much Terry!

I'm just guessing here "(Market Adj,clear bra,"appearance pkg" .. sounds like some hinky *carriage roof and some wheels, maybe some tape to give it a two-tone look* so maybe the dealer dropped another $700ish into it - I'm guessing ...
Put that all aside, Profit is not a 4 letter word.
But, like my great Grand Daddy used to say: You can be a Lion and you can be a Tiger, but never be a Pig .....
If I were you (and I'm not) I would make an appointment with the dealer/owner or the GM or both, make sure you have a good attitude on this .. it's fair the dealer makes a profit on both vehicles, this way he doesn't feel cheated and you both can walk out winning .. allow him to make a $900ish profit on the new vehicle and rewrite the contract, then cancel the extended warranty "after" you leave, which is another $1,000 savings for your parents, all in all they could save "around" $2,000 plus the tax ..
Remember, If you go in yelling and demanding, then human nature will kick in and the dealer will just get into a defense postour and go deaf - as a rule these situations can get ugly ~ *but properly done* the dealer will feel good and the customer feels better when both parties discuss and understand both sides of the situation .. that being said, I don't feel a $100 over invoice deal will do the trick in the discussions, if you know what I mean ...
I hope this helps and let me know what happens ....
Terry.

In the land of the Bengals .. we have a 99 GLT wagon with 38,000 short miles .. color is kinda good, probably tan guts, slider, cold pack, tunes ... if - this one is waaay deep in rubber, serviced, no Jack the Ripper interior, no Dutch Boy paint work, just a nice vehicle that looks and drives like a 02 ... then trade side, in and around the mid/tall $9's, if it's super nice glows in the dark and needs -0- you "might" maybe "could" see the low low low low low low low $10's, these still do big money in your area ~ if they're nice ....... the only thing that might hold it back is the color.

I tried putting what is on the list (courtesy of alfox) directly in the top gray area but it took up to much room.
Howdy back to those familiar with the Cinci area!

Once I put the link to the pop-up form in the header and made sure it worked, I put the inquiry in to Sysop to see if we could get this implemented as "special instructions" (red text) in the post box area similar to what we have in the Prices Paid discussions.
Once I hear back Yes/No I can input a ticket for the work. If approved, it would take a week (we update on Wednesdays).
For now, the link in the header is the best I can do.
