Downsides: stick shift, only 184 horsepower. It's been sitting on the pre-owned lot unsold for two months here in San Diego.
What do you experts think the dealer would be willing to do to cut this car loose?
Thanks!

thanks in advance
Here is my wish list, Low miles "Sky Blue Pearl" paint, leather heated seats, no sunroof, a 4 cyl engine and rear window shade, (travel for weeks with a Black Catahoola in the back seat) So far I am SOL on everything including the 4 cyl engine in an 05 XLE.
The downside for me is that 184hp is just not very powerful. I drove the new Eos recently. It feels noticeably faster but has bad torque steer.
What does the price sound like for this deal?
Price $23,975
Body Style Toyoto Camry Sedan 2006 XLE

Interior Color Gray Leather
Engine 4 Cylinder Gasoline

For a data point, the '05 330Cic that I leased last November had a selling price of $45,200... Probably had a $4K-$5K higher MSRP than the unit you are looking at..
I'd think a more reasonable price on that 325Cic would be down around $35K.. Strictly from a value standpoint... I have no idea what they might be actually selling for...
I forget... is it CPO?

Loaded, leather, roof, nav, xm, etc... all options available.
Mint condition
Buyout price is 19K.
Supposidly the original new car dealer likes the car since it's in mint condition. They'll send it to auction and buy it back for about 18K I'm told... cheaper than buying it from bank for 19K. Of course I can't get it for 18K since I can't go to the auction.
I like it @ $17=17500

Limited model with leather/sunroofs/upgraded OEM stereo
Exterior in good condidtion. Some small dings and a few scratches.
Interior in good condition. Some scratches and a few minor blemishes.
Tires getting near the end of their life.
Maintenance is all up to date and mechanically in good shape, although the check engine light comes on occasionally... needs a new catalytic converter. Okay, that's kind of major.
Prior damage included minor work to the rear quarter panel and a new bumper cover and rear hatch.
I would also like to know what I can expect to get if I trade this in at a dealer.

Subarus bring insane money, and finding one under $5 is a chore. A new cat conv should be $400 installed, max.

The demo I am currently driving is a 2001 Subaru Forrester with an auto tranny and 125,000 miles on it.
The dealership owns it for 5,000 dollars.
That completly blows my mind.
Well, they don't here.
By the time you get this car sorted out, you'll own it for over $3000
I don't like lumpy cars as a rule, you always find alot more wrong with them than you figured.
$3-3500 if it was nice.
P.S. The Ion isn't nearly as bad as ALL the reviews of it have stated.
Thanks.

Knowing (at least i'm pretty sure in the assumption) that cars we are trying to trade for that the dealer has at most KBB fair to good condition $$ in, what is a reasonable trade for the Jeep and what is a reasonable profit for the dealer.
For example, we were trying to trade on a 2003 Altima 2.5S, light brown, 2 owner, clean car with some dings, scratches on bumper, new tires, alloys, ABS, SAB that was a two owner with the first owner being Hertz, no service history available that has 68K. Started out that we would owe them $800 and we walked after them offering to give $500 back. I don't think that was much of a deal considering that the KBB (excellent condition) value for the Altima is only $9000. So, please give me a reality check,

He was in Florida. This guy's last name is Terry. His first & middle name is Robert Ray and terry's screen name was rroyce. This article coincides with Terry's disappearance.
It may just be a conspiracy theory but there are too many coincidences IMHO.
Terry has been here since then.
From his profile:
User: rroyce10
Email: private
Member since: April 13, 2001
Last login on: August 29, 2006
His last post was in June, 2006, however.
This doesn't prove anything...just additional info I have provided. I certainly hope it isn't OUR Terry. Couldn't be!
But he wasn't sentenced until August 2006.
I'd be very suprised as well. From his postings, Terry seems to be an upstanding guy.
Yes, true, and noted, but also note the rroyce10 has logged into Edmunds (Car space?) as recently as Aug 29.
I also agree that Terry has been a very upstanding guy here on the Forms...
To explain his absence here, I'm thinking that he just got burned out..he was VERY active here, provided quie a service for us lay(persons)
I would love for rroye10 to stop by and at least set the record staight.

I'm glad he did, though..

Someone logged into his account - it may have not been him.
I'm not saying that it's him, it's just so coincidental.
I have my own theory about Terry's disappearance..... It has to do with having One Pricing Guru per forum...... an old member of the board (in the biz) re-appeared after a few years, & a couple of months later, Terry left.
Maybe it's just a coincidence, & my theory is all wrong. But I think Terry should have had "his own" forum, Officially, however edmunds could do that........
He helped me in a difficult situation when my son was having some car issues by personally e-mailing me information and taking time out of his day to do so.
Anybody with that type of mentality and class doesn't "cheat".
When he left, he was getting brow beat by yet another one of the posters who "knew everything" about the car business although he'd never worked in it. I think Terry just got tired of it.
BTW....there's a lot of us (including me) who've been around here a lot longer than April of 2001. That's just the date when Edmunds started keeping such stats.
Basicly they were telling everyone that he posted here just to make more people buy into the idea of a low tradein value so that dealers can make more money off of people. He had some wacky conspiracy theories about the car business.
Let's try to get back to trade-in values, pleeeeeeez?.

In Memphis, I have a 2004 Jeep Grand Cherokee 4X4 (never been off-road) with about 49K in very good condition, no accidents, no dents/scratches, interior very clean, never smoked in, dark purplish brown color exterior, charcoal cloth inside; fog lights and 10 disc changer. Second owner but service history is available and could use a set of tires soon. We are trying to trade on something easier on gas.
Knowing (at least i'm pretty sure in the assumption) that cars we are trying to trade for that the dealer has at most KBB fair to good condition $$ in, what is a reasonable trade for the Jeep and what is a reasonable profit for the dealer.
For example, we were trying to trade on a 2003 Altima 2.5S, light brown, 2 owner, clean car with some dings, scratches on bumper, new tires, alloys, ABS, SAB that atarted life as a Hertz rental, no service history available. Where was he getting brow beaten? I must've missed that.
So the buyers tip board and purchasing strats.
