What is Trade-in on a 2009 Honda Fit Sport with auto and 6000 miles???

    No idea honestly.
    Nothing going over the block.
It's worth whatever a Honda dealer wants to give you for it.
I'd call a couple of dealers, make sure you speak to the Used Car Manager and ask for a buy bid.
  • volvomaxvolvomax Member Posts: 5,238
Not the best time of year for this car, as you know.
    Figure trade in @ $5-6,000

Car would be worth more at the right time of year, or in a warmer market.
  • volvomaxvolvomax Member Posts: 5,238
Didn't I already give you a number?? :confuse:
  • volvomaxvolvomax Member Posts: 5,238
There are a lot of variables. Like where the damage was, how well it was repaired, is it on the Carfax, was it frame damage, etc.

Figure that it will have a significant effect on the value
  • volvomaxvolvomax Member Posts: 5,238
    Figure between $15-16,000

Seems Edmunds got the "good deal" on their long term tester fit vehicle service:
"We just spent $607.23 to get our Fit back in working order. A standard 20,000-mile service cost us $143, with an additional $67 air filter and $120 cabin filter replacement at our request. The front rotors were also warped. To turn them down and replace the brake pads we spent another $265."

    Another new Malibu...

Just got this a month ago thanks to GM repurchasing a lemon G6 I had, and I really love it, but after swapping over my old existing loan, etc. I've been wondering what the 'Bu would be worth real-world if I had the inkling for something else. Odd that it's so new and barely used, but still...what do you guys think on a trade? Straight sale?

I figured the "hondas never need repair" crowd would be out in force!

My favorite line, "My Honda (or Toyota) just went over 100K miles and it's just been broken in".

I know I will take a big hit, but please let me know what the trade in value would be of a 2009 Mazda 3i Value Touring with the auto dimming mirror. The color is Red Copper Mica, 2,800 miles. The car is a manual. Sticker was $17,765. Car is like new, as it nearly is new!

    Thanks,

    Man, that's just brutal...

This is the reason why I never buy GM products... Should have known better than to take this leap on American products...

So their asking price of $6900 is pretty darned fair. Wonder how long they been sittin on it. Its at a Mazda dealer, by the way.

Ugh! So tempting, yet not a good time for me to buy a toy. :(

    Figure somewhere @ $28-30,000

No value available for that car. You are gonna have to call a Mazda dealer.
  • wayside1wayside1 Member Posts: 36
    > ... but you hosed yourself BY trading it in.

Ouch! That hurts a bit. I figured with the condition it was in (esp. the crunching coming from the steering) it would have been hard to sell myself.

    Thanks for the reply.

Don't feel too bad. Selling a lumpy used car isn't easy.
Yes, that one person who wanted your car MAY have been out there.
On the other hand, you could have had that thing for sale for 3 months without getting a nibble. Then something else may have broken and rendered the car saleproof.
Used Cars are always a crapshoot.
  • emjay1emjay1 Member Posts: 22
Thanks, Mike, I do agree there's some emotional attachment for me to my lovely Murano. I hate to give it up, but I'm also reluctant to continue making car payments for another full 10 months on a car that has almost 75K miles on it. I know from past experience that little "time bombs" start going off at this point, with maintenance issues building up more and more as the miles rack up. That's my problem, obviously. But I need to get as close to payoff as I can when I sell it. I'm not trying to get away with anything either - I just want the max.

And speaking of "max", I had already considered taking it to Carmax for an estimate, so I agree with you there. What makes them so different, just out of curiosity? What are their resale/trade in estimates based on?
  • cccompsoncccompson Member Posts: 2,382
Assume that you meant that CPO prices are 7/8 more. Yeah, his number sounds about right. Options can make some difference but bear in mind that what a dealer is asking is not necessarily the same as what a dealer is getting.

I got interested in these a few weeks ago and was shocked at their depreciation. Take a look at completed listing on ebay to get an idea of what real money has been offered. It doesn't help that there seem to be ALOT of 'em for sale (lease returns?).
  • lmartilmarti Member Posts: 16
I was afraid it was going to be that low. Thanks for getting back to me.

Do you think I could push a dealer to $7K? $8K? Or is that totally unrealistic?
  • sai1sai1 Member Posts: 26
If anyone has done a similar trade recently, could you please share the price you got? I'd really appreciate any help I can get on this :)

Curious if I should try to trade in a silver 2005 Honda CRV-EX 5 speed manual with 77,777 miles for a new 08 or 09 same. It has sun rof, cd-player, cloth seats, new tires. Everything is in good shape. I drive 1200-1400 miles a month. (Northern New York)

I would appreciate input on trade in values I could expect. Thank you.
  • volvomaxvolvomax Member Posts: 5,238
A dealer could show you that much, but it probably wouldn't be actual cash value.

If the car was perfect, you might see $7,000.
Depends on how badly they want to sell you what they have.
I think that $8k is too much of a stretch.
  • volvomaxvolvomax Member Posts: 5,238
If Infiniti's CPO program is anything like Volvo's, it will probably cost them @ $2-3,000 to certify that car.
So, the markup becomes less exalted.
Keep in mind that the amount of markup on a used car is immaterial.
It isn't what you ask, it's what you get.
Having a lot of markup can be helpful because you can offer a bigger discount.
Makes the buyer think they got a better deal.
  • volvomaxvolvomax Member Posts: 5,238
    Assuming its a 4WD, somewhere @ $10-11,000
  • jimbresjimbres Member Posts: 2,025
It probably is 4WD. IIRC, the only 2WD CR-V offered in 2005 was the LX, which was available in FWD & 4WD variants.
  • kathy21kathy21 Member Posts: 6
Yes. It is a 4WD. As we are entering the nasty winter road season it seems like a hot commodity if I were to try to sell it on my own. But I am not sure I want to deal with the head ache.

Any advice for approaching a dealership for a trade on a 2008 4WD-EX or EX-L or should I just go for a 09?

I figure I should spend to support the economy...I just don't want to be tooo supportive.
  • jimbresjimbres Member Posts: 2,025
It's funny - I have an '06 CR-V EX, also with 5-speed. Apart from adding a new color, Honda made no changes for the '06 model year, so my car is identical to yours, with 1 exception - the mileage. I've put less than 9K miles on mine since I bought it in November, 2005. At that rate, my car will be more than 25 years old by the time I hit your mileage. That's the difference between living on Long Island & living way upstate.

The '08 & '09 CR-Vs are identical. If your dealer is willing to significantly discount the '08 - it is, after all, a year older - & if you plan to keep this car for 5+ years, I'd pick the older car.

I strongly suggest that you take a shot at selling your CR-V yourself. I can tell you from personal experience that there is much demand for used Hondas - at least there is down here - & you will have no trouble selling your car for considerably more than a dealer would give you for it. For one thing, you can count on a dealer to give you a hard time because your car is a stick. He'll use that as an excuse to lower your trade-in allowance. ("Well, you know, there isn't much call for sticks these days, so we can't give you as much for it as we could if it had an automatic. Sorry.") But if you market your car yourself, you might well find a buyer who wants a CR-V with a stick.

FWIW, I sold a 12-year-old Accord, equipped with a stick, in 1 day to a cash buyer. I netted at least $1K more than I would have gotten from a dealer.

    Hi,

I am looking for a trade value for a 2007 Nissan Maxima SE, Pearl white, tan interior, driver's preferred package (heated seats, steering wheel, back up sensors, power sunroof, Bose and Satellite Radio).

Car is like new, no door dings scratches, interior and exterior are immaculate. No paintwork, tires 50% treadlife left. All maintenance is up to date. Car is located in NC. It has the CVT transmission. It has 26,000 miles on it.

    Thanks,

    nceil
  • ncelkncelk Member Posts: 22
I should add probably the car has leather interior.
  • kathy21kathy21 Member Posts: 6
Thanks Jimbres. I'll give selling a shot. 'preciate your input.
  • volvomaxvolvomax Member Posts: 5,238
    Figure @ $15,000
  • ncelkncelk Member Posts: 22
    Thanks for the input Volvomax.

Wow, that hurts....$15k for a year and half old car loaded that cost about $33,000 new.

I guess depreciation is not your friend when it comes to Nissans. Or most used cars these days. I am sure that I would just need to sell it myself then.

Think it is unreasonable to expect $20,000-22,000 in a private sale?
  • gooddeal2gooddeal2 Member Posts: 750
Wow, that hurts....$15k for a year and half old car loaded that cost about $33,000 new.

    I think it's not really b/c it's a Nissan but:

    1. it's an old design
    2. People can get a new '08 at dirt cheap b/c of the new design '09
    3. 26K miles on a less than 2 years old car = kind of high, imo
    4. Bad economy = people don't want the 6cyl.?

Volvomax or anyone else that can help me:

I am looking at an 06 Volvo XC90 V8 with premium, sport, climate and versatility package. Basically everything except DVD and NAV. Milage is 21,300. I am in Cincinnati, OH. The price is $23,000 and they won't budge. It's not from a Volvo dealer so vehicle is not certified but is still under factory warranty. Is this a good price??

If possible, please give me an approximate trade in value for a 2007 Hyundai Tiburon SE. The car is well maintained and shows well. It has 14,000 miles and has the factory sunroof, six cylinder with a manual six speed. The color is Carbon Grey with red leather and black cloth inserts. Also, I have added an aftermarket stereo that has bluetooth, satellite and an Ipod connection. Does that hurt value since it is not stock?

    Thanks!

I'm not a pro, so can't speak authoritatively, but if that is at a dealer and has no issues (especially if certified) I would buy it. I'm actually looking for something like that.

Don't worry, I won't skate you on it. Too far away.

anyway, I did almost buy the same car in bule, but with about 30K on it, a few months back but it got sold just before me. Think it went for about 21K as a certified VW. No navi either.
