As long as the install was done professionally and looks good, it won't hurt you.
    Nor will it help you.

Figure trade in the $11-12,000 range.
  • volvomaxvolvomax Member Posts: 5,238
Trade probably somewhere in the $20,000 range
  • volvomaxvolvomax Member Posts: 5,238
Figure you are probably somewhere in the $15's.

not sure if I asked on this one yet (my mind is going lately..)

looking for a reality check on this.

2000 Acura TL. 1 owner, all dealer service (jut inspected/serviced too). No accidents. Nice shape overall, some scratches, etc. Interior very clean (no kids!) Pretty sure it needs nothing, or the dealership would have pushed it!

    Dark blue over beige.

145,000 miles is about the only negative.

2020 Acura RDX tech SH-AWD, 2023 Maverick hybrid Lariat luxury package.

  • volvomaxvolvomax Member Posts: 5,238
Miles are a killer. Couple grand, $3 grand tops.
  • stickguystickguy Member Posts: 53,336
OK. so the dealer offering 2K was about market correct.

I'm actually buying it from her instead for the same price (my sister) and wanted to make sure the price was approriate.

Would sell for more on the street I am sure being so clean.

    I have a 2007 4 dr BMW 328i w/10,500 miles that I was looking to trade-in in Chicago.

Dark gray, premium package, bluetooth, leather, sunroof, keyless entry, push button start, automatic.

Got a dealer quote of $19,000 for it - blue book is at about $25,000. Quite a difference! I am wondering what is a realistic expectation for this trade in? In general, would it be $1000 less than KBB? $2000? The car is in fine shape, so I would peg it at EXCELLENT condition on KBB, but I know that's unrealistic.

On a related note, I live in Chicago and this car does not have x drive. Do dealers really discount this rear wheel drive car moreso in the winter than they would in the summer?

When I saw the bid, I thought it was a little lite.
Having looked at Manheim, it's pretty close to on target.
I'd have said @ $20,000 for your neck of the woods.
  • volvomaxvolvomax Member Posts: 5,238
    Hmm, a miler Hyundai...
    Figure @ $6,000
  • ronny77ronny77 Member Posts: 4
OUCH!! That sucks. When you say Manheim - you are referring to the auto auction, right?

    Thanks for the insight.

Nice car for winter weather I'd presume with all wheel drive. Always wanted a Subie but in South Florida seemed a bit much but they have some really cool models. Sometimes I'd like a wagon also, as we had to rent a mid-sized car this week to move some of our daughter's stuff up to Orlando. With a slightly larger, more versatile sled in the fold, rentals would be unnecessary for this kinda stuff. That's why I'd love to have the $ to have multiple rides for different purposes. Guess if we win the lotto this week, that won't be an issue anymore!

Yeah, it is a nice all-around package. Nice size (big enough but not too big), handles well, comfortable, respectable mileage, great on bad roads, and has the cargo room and flexibility. need to see how it drives though, and how the seats are.

And of course, what it should go for!

Depending on the quality of the repair, and whether or not the accident is on the Carfax, you should be somewhere @ $10,000
  • nyyanks81nyyanks81 Member Posts: 5
    volvomax,

I pulled up the Carfax and it is on there indicating:

"Accident reported. vehicle involved in crash with another motor vehicle."

The repair looks great, cannot tell from my naked eyes and the paint matches perfectly with the rest of vehicle. Any idea on how much the Carfax ding would have on the trade in value?

    Thanks again!

An extremely low mileage Civic like this should be an easy private party sale. Stick it on craigslist (with some clear pics and an accurate description) for $12,995 or so. Granted, craigslist is not the best for higher priced iron, but people go nuts for low mileage vehicle, especially Hondas. Be prepared for a sale within 24 hours.

    Volvomax -

Can you give me an up to date on this vehicle?
Looking for an up to date wholesale value on the following:
2007 Silverado 1500 (New body style) 2WD Extended Cab WT Standard Bed
Options: LS Package, HD Trailering Equipment, Cruise Control, Heavy Duty Suspension
    28,000 Miles
    Location: Southeastern Louisiana

    Thanks
  • volvomaxvolvomax Member Posts: 5,238
If the body sticker is still in the door, you are probably looking at a $1000 hit.
If the sticker isn't there, it could be more.

In the minds of most people, low miles doesn't trump an accident.
  • volvomaxvolvomax Member Posts: 5,238
Not much to go on, best guess is wholesale in the mid teens.
  • volvomaxvolvomax Member Posts: 5,238
Figure somewhere in the $7-8,000 range.
  • cccompsoncccompson Member Posts: 2,382
Agreed - if the buyer knows about the crash history. The problem is that many never do.

Personally, I won't even look at a car that has an accident history.

  • volvomaxvolvomax Member Posts: 5,238
    Avg wholesale is @ $13,000
So, if they let you have it for $14-14,500 you are doing ok.

Mid teens would be good. The SE package was a bargain.

I recall when these were new, the residuals on the SE model were actually higher than for the Ltd or GT. At least for leases.

    Hi Volvomax.

I was wondering what the following vehicles might go for at auction and dealer prices.

2007 Navigator L White, Moonroof, 4wd, dvd, tan leather, power liftgate and 3rd row. Basically everything except the navigation. A bit high miles 47 k. 2nd row bench.

2007 Expedition Eddie Bauer EL - 29000 k miles, pretty much a base model. black with tan leather interior. leather seats, 6 cd changer. 2nd row bench.

    OK condition on both.

Additional question - is it worth certifying either vehicle?

    Any insight would be helpful.

Thanks in advance for any insights.

Year/Make/Model: 2002 Volkswagen Jetta GLS Automatic
    Body Style: 4 dr Sedan
    Engine: 2.0 Liter 4cyl 115 hp
    Driveline: FWD
    Mileage: 55,550
    Color: Galactic Blue (Navy)
Major Options: Monsoon Audio System Upgrade, Sunroof
Condition: "Good" - no accidents, usual small dings, scratches, etc. Small area on roof is fading from exposure to sun. Some interior surfaces are peeling (ie. door handles), common with Jettas over time no matter how careful of an owner. Air Conditioner Compressor needs to be replaced. Have held back since my best quote for the repair is $1,400. Heater still works and all fans are operating. Interior is very clean, back seat area immaculate.
    Tires - New this year
    Brakes - Original
Maintenance - all performed at a Volkswagen dealer minus oil changes.

    Hi there,

I am in the market for a new vehicle and looking for an estimated trade number on my Jetta. The deals to be had right now are great for new cars and the time to pull the trigger may be now. Any thoughts on what dealers may get at auction on it are appreciated as well.

    Thanks in advance! :)
