With those miles, you MIGHT be able to get your price. It will probably be a battle, though. It might fetch right around $29500-$30k at auction, so they will have to step up because they would most likely offer you $28k tops. So you'll probably have to find a dealer that wants to sell it from their lot rather than wholesale it and push hard to get the $29k (as long as you are getting a good deal on the bimmer).

Me too, lemmer, especially with the "airbags did not deploy" note. Really? If there has been damage to both sides of the front, it either hit that barrier head-on, or hit it hard enough to bounce the other side into something else. I kind of feel like the airbags should have gone off.
Seems a bit on the pricey side for one with that kind of prior damage, too.
For comparison, a year ago my 2003 G35 was totaled - same everything except mine was an automatic, 108,000 miles - and the retail value I got was $11,000. That was without ANY previous damage, and lower miles.

I agree with q that there isn't much data on the 2010s, but I have seen/purchased 2009's with mileage in the low-mid 40k's trade between dealers in the $17-18k range, so I don't think you'll get $20k on a actual cash value with your car nearing 50k miles, but best wishes to you if you do end up making a trade at that price!

Regarding the comment that the dealer could fix things cheaper than I could-In the 2 dealerships I worked in-the service area would charge the used car department retail labor rates and so would the parts department.The business is severely competitive even within the same dealership-with all the seperate departments New Cars-Used Cars-service-parts concerned about their seperate profit and loss statement.
So from the used car managers perspective-he might not be able to get it done cheaper than you.Sure the overall dealership can but the used car manager isn't thinking about the overall dealership.
I don't know about other repairs but dealers can get small dents/scratches fixed for very cheap. About 2 years ago, while I was looking for a new car w/ a sale manager, I saw a guy w/ a truck trying to repair several cars. I stopped and talked to him for a couple minutes.
I asked him how much did he charge to repair that dent (about 1-2 inches by 4-5 inches)? He said about $25. I made a comment to the sale manager that he got a good deal. The manager said "well, we give him (like) 10 cars to fix every week."
When I sold our XC90 to a dealer, he wanted to deduct $600 for it needing a new windshield. I told him I would take it home, have it done for $300, and he could buy it for the full amount. He quickly changed his mind and decided a $300 deduct was fine.

Thanks, that is exactly what their initial offer was. We were hoping for $10K but settled for $9000. Here in MA I save almost $600 on the $9000 trade-in value so it all worked out. The Mountaineer needed about $2000 worth of work anyways!
Hey Q - my MIL is looking to trade in her 2010 Mitsubishi Endeavor (here in Denver).
It's a well loaded model, with leather, sunroof, navigation. AWD. Dark gray over black leather. Only 16k miles. And the condition is consistent with those miles.
I'm guessing these aren't holding value very well, but wanted to get an idea from you.

After the test drive, the salesman/sales manager produced their sales sheet that initially had on it a trade in value of $6,500, and an out the door price for the Santa Fe of $12,700 (no financing needed). From TMV, KBB etc. we think the value of the Mini is approx. $9,500 trade in.
We basically laughed off their offer and within 2 minutes, the trade in amount was up to $8,500, the 'inspection' fee was dropped and the new out the door prices was approx. $6,500. I mentioned that we still had to test drive other cars and we would compare. The manager then said that if the out the door price was nearer to $5,000, would we deal that day?
We still refused and eventually left but we have been thinking about this since. From what I have read, negotiations should ideally be separated out to the price of the car we want to buy, and then the value of our trade in, but if they can provide an out the door cost of $5,000, is this a good deal, or am I overlooking something? The figures I am using are:
List price of Santa Fe Limited: $15,998 Doc Fees, etc.: $500 (approx. - this seemed variable) Trade-in of Cooper S: $8,500
To get the out the door price to $5,000, I calculate that the base price of the Santa Fe is somewhere around $12,700? As the TMV price is listed at $13,590, it seems like a fair deal at least, but I can't help thinking I am missing some aspect?
many dealers like working the net number like that since it gives 2 sets of smoke and mirrors to hide money in!
but you are correct, first order of business is to determine a fair price for your car and what to pay for the new one. IMO, once you have that, it makes sense to just work the net ("my car + how much?"), assuming, of course, you are set on trading it in and not willing to private sale it.

On a BMW lease, mileage overage is $0.20 each...
On a demo/service loaner, residual is reduced by $0.30/mile for every mile over 500 on the odometer..
I think you've misplaced a decimal point.... otherwise, a car with 60K would be worth $15,000 less than a car with 50K miles..

but you are correct, first order of business is to determine a fair price for your car and what to pay for the new one. IMO, once you have that, it makes sense to just work the net ("my car + how much?"), assuming, of course, you are set on trading it in and not willing to private sale it.

Condition: Great condition, no dings or scratches on bodywork, is a ding on the windshield that is filled (but still visible). Interior is in great shape too, except for signs of wear on the drivers seat side (door side). Front pads and rotors replaced last week, 2 new tires on the front as of last week, rear tires have plenty of tread remaining. All 4 tires match.
Have owned car for 2.5 years - only major maintenance was to fix the power steering after it failed. Other than oil changes etc., nothing else done to it.
Other: No other damage/repaints etc.
