I need to unload a '97 Landcruiser Black 78k all options in average condition and a 99 Honda CRV EX Red with 52k in average condition. I say average, because these are both wonderful cars and are in good shape but not like new, neither has any major bumps or bruises just normal stuff, neither has ever been wrecked. what can I expect to get for each, and what is the best way to get rid of them quickly. My wife wants a bigger house so I told her she will need to have less cars, these two are hers, I drive a 90 Legend w/ around 200k, lol. Please help. I'm tired of paying car notes.

I've been low-balled at the only place I checked, and wanted another opinion.

    '95 Nissan Altima GXE
    • 95k miles
    • Power win, doors, antenna, cruise control, tilt steering
    • Cold A/C
    • New tires (2 new, 2 slightly used, matching), O2 sensor, Distributor, Fuel Pump, front axles
    • Good shape, no major mechanical problems (w/ the slight exception of some slightly warped front rotors... replaced recently, but warped.. cheap aftermarket parts, I suppose)
    • No wrecks, paid in full

    Cosmetics:
    • A few dings and small chips... original paint
    • Metallic Teal
    • Interior in very good shape minus a underseat stain (coffee spill??? was there when I bought it from Carmax)
    • AM/FM Cass

Wish Bill were around as I think I'm in his home market and he'd have a fairly accurate figure, but anyone's help is appreciated.

figured I would help terry out with ya as much as I can... since you need help quick and all.. =o)
    97 Land Cruiser All options
I'm pullin low 18's on trade, low 20's retail
    99 CR-V EX All options
I'm pullin high 12's on trade, high 14's retail
These are off of the Blackbook... of course depending on where you live, if I remember correctly from Terry, you may be able to get more since winter is coming and all...
If they are real clean and you can wait, may be able to get another 2,0 on the Land cruiser, and maybe another 1,0 on the CR-V....
Hey Terry, let me know how I did... I need a used car soon and I'm kinda practicing off of Blackbook to figure out what's reasonable... =o) Don't wanna step on your toes...

    You didn't give enough information...
    Leather? Slider? Tranny?
asuming you dont have leather or a slider... and an AT....
I'm pullin low 3's on trade, low 5's on retail end
More likely really low considering the love taps/chips... brakes, etc...
  • tblazer503tblazer503 Member Posts: 620
you need more info too... 2/4dr? convertible? etc... convertible with sunroof? hehe...
I would imagine that is a pretty decent difference between the types...
Sorry terry, just figured I would finish scolding people since I started... =O)

...... Post # 9079, will give you a better idea on how some of the different books work.

But in the mean time, if you want the "real deal" figure on what it may be worth, follow tblazer503's advice .. or go too your room.

.... The only thing that will hold it back is the color and miles .. but if it's as clean as you say it is, the miles won't really hurt it .. Yota fans have no fear of 90/110/140k.

So if it's been properly serviced, no click click in the 4WD, it's deep in rubber and no drive by's and shows 99ish, then on a trade, in and around the $8 figure depending on the dealer. --

Retail Rd is the way to go with this puppy, if it's as nice as you say it is .. then $10,900 in the paper and let one of the Bulldogs pick it for $9,9/$10,5, it will sell fast - no sweat.! A big 5 liner in the Atlanta paper will get her done ...

    good luck ...

.... Landcruisers are like 4 Runners, they can still get stupid money, even with high miles ..

Depending on the dealer, condition, tires, parking lot kisses and what part of the country you hang your hat at .. the LC can see an easy $18/$19 on a trade, they are great vehicles.

The little red Honda should see around the high $11's on a trade, the miles are no help here.

Found another sports car toy to look at (local private sale).

1993 Toyota MR2. white, blue cloth, handshaker,t-tops, non-turbo. 103K. Just went through a complete check at a local high-end import service place. New tires/brake/timing belt and whatnot.

From the owners report, it had some paint work in the past, but no signs of body work, so this would have to be checked out.

assuming no past crunchs of consequence, what is a realistic private sale price in NJ?

asking price is $8,000, which seems high to me.

2020 Acura RDX tech SH-AWD, 2023 Maverick hybrid Lariat luxury package.

  • rroyce10rroyce10 Member Posts: 9,332
..... Didn't see it at first .. TTop.

I'm sure it's nice, clean, well cared for, pretty, sporty, cool, fun, sexy, different and eclectic.

    But,

It's also waaaay too much jingle for a 93 with 100klicks.

$6/$6,5 is about all the cake that dude is worth on the retail side, books or no books.

After he has had it for a while, at $8 large (come January) .. the light will roll off the shelf, hit him in the head and he will go - Duh!, and realize that, he is waaay over priced.

    Isn't it pretty .. yup..! - Isn't it nice .. yup.! - Isn't it over priced ..! - YUP ..!

thanks Terry. I'm going to look at it at lunch tomorrow. I've never driven one, not even sure if I'd fit.

FWIW, edmund's TMV says 4K trade, 6K dealer, 4.8K private sale, if rated "clean".

I get the feeling they will be anxious to move this well before january, since the owner is moving away and leaving it to be sold by family.

.... Don't get too crazy on some of Edmund's figures .. a nice clean one will do at least $4,0+ at the block, and there is no "real" difference in a private vs the dealer .. a hard to find, is a hard to find.

First, You just gotta see if you can get in ..... and get out, without throwing your number 5 lumbar out .. l.o.l......

    Ready to drop the 300M.

    Recap 2001 300M STD Silver/Agate(black) 24k miles
No chromes no roof but real wood and DIC.
It has been hit R front fender but the repair job is purfect but you still can tell it has been sprayed. I have seen qoutes of 16k and 16850 from carmax. Are these what I can expect and would it be worth it to try and sell privately.

    TIA

PS I'm down here bracing for my first Hurricane in H-town.

I have a 98 Transport Montana edition Extended. 93k on the odometer, gray, gray cloth (no leather), power right side slider, manual left side slider ,2nd row captains chairs, factory CD, rear audio, Front & Rear AC, factory security, trailering harness, factory air shocks, Power everything. Know the Odometer shows too many miles, but heck it's an AZ car, so no rust or other cosmetic defect. Everything works, clean paint, no smells, 15k on brakes and tires. Car looks new, I'm the original owner, have all main records, even could xfer the remainder of the 100K GM extended warranty to a new owner (never used it!). Upgrading? to a 03 Tahoe soon.

.... Batten' down the hatches .. might get a spot of rain and a touch of wind - 145 mile winds and a category 4 .. hmmmm., sounds like another day in Florida. Seriously, I hope all is well ..

$16,8, Thats not a bad bid from Carmax, considering the fender and such .. since the new ones are out, if it was perfect, the mid $17's would be more like it, but I can't see it.

If you go down Retail Rd, $19,9 in the paper and let one of the guys in the clean up crews, grab it for $18,5/$19,0 ..

Good luck and hang on, it might get a little bumpy ..

.... Thanks for an excellent description ..

It sounds kinda nice, you have taken care of it .. but, I don't have to tell ya, the miles will Flat kill it, plus Montana's aren't flying off the shelves new or used.

I would have to think, if it's clean and needs -0-, somewhere in and around the $6's trade side ...

    I hope this helps ...

Ok, I don't see these often so this one caught my attention. This glorified Trooper is black, 83k, loaded with roof, leather, 4x4, etc.. (I think all SLXs came loaded) and the exterior and interior are in average condition (some swirls and scratches, some carpet spots). What would be a good deal on it, dealer is asking $7k?
  • nairb2nairb2 Member Posts: 9
Looking to trade in or sell my A6 and would like to know fair values for both. Trying to decide whether it's worth it to sell myself or just trade in.

    - 46K miles
    - Silver
    - Black Leather
    - Cold weather package (heated seats, steering wheel etc.)
    - Bose stereo with 6 CD changer
    - 2 new Goodyear tires
    - New brakes
    - Original owner, all repair records, never been in an accident.
    - Very clean condition - a few minor scratches on rear bumper but that's it. Interior is immaculate. Very well cared for car.
    - Boston area

I have a '98 Olds Intrigue and I am considering moving up to a 2001 Aurora (A friend is looking to get out of his lease and I am considering making the leasing company, GMAC, an offer)

What price do you think I can negotiate on the Aurora? ('01, Silver, 32K, Leather, 3.5L, No roof)

How about a good asking price for the Intrigue ('98 GL, Black, 86K, Cloth, No roof)

    Location is Western PA.

    Thanks for your help!
  • rroyce10rroyce10 Member Posts: 9,332
... Is the lease up on the Aurora .? If not, when .? and whats the residual.?

    The Intrigue .? It depends..

If - it has new sneakers, little or no parking lot kisses, no french fry invasions, service is a 100%, looks and drives like it has 30k and needs -0-, then perhaps $5,9 would be a good "asking" price for a quick sale ... the miles are gonna kill Ya here.

    Terry.
  • rroyce10rroyce10 Member Posts: 9,332
.... Nice vehicles .. so yours is a Quattro with a cold package, BOSE, and 46K big big big miles ..

It sounds nice, right color and 1/2 new rubber, with some small scratches. The miles are not going to be your friend here, on a trade the high $16's, low $17's maybe if it's a "baby doll".

Now, down Retail Rd, $19,9 in the paper and let her go for $18,7/$19,5 for a quick sale ..

May the force be with you ...

    Terry.

.... Pssst, hey don't be telling people it's not an Acura, that would be blastphulame ... (spell check wouldn't pick up the word. l.o.l..)

Is this a premium ..? The price "seems" kinda cheap .. if it's a nice one, no click, clicks, clean all the way around, maybe the dealer is trying to get rid of it - or perhaps doesn't know what they have, look a little further into it .. this could be a deal waiting to happen.

    Terry ;-))
  • servomanservoman Member Posts: 4
    Terry,

You're a machine! Thanks for the information...As for the Aurora, the lease is up in 6 mos. My friend is turning it in early, a little over on the miles. He will pay about $2K penalty to turn it in now, with a residual of about 17,5K. If I want the car from GMAC, will they stick with this # or can I negotiate? What are they going for at auction? Isn't this what GMAC will get when he turns it in?

    Thanks again!

Local swedish transport emporium has 3 count em 3 99 V70's w/5 sp listed in their on line inventory. Gonna go look tonight, but these things always come up at the worst time.

That 00 BMW 323 sportwagon I asked you about 4 weeks ago is becoming a lot queen I think. They are still at $27 firm although they did have one day sale at $300 off.

Ok, found out more details on the Cadillac I asked you about last month. Here's the updated description/options:

    '95 Cadillac SLS
    Cream/Off White color
    115K Mi. (Ouch!)
Pretty much loaded, but no roof.
    Bose
    Chrome Wheels
    Leather, heated
    So. Cal area.
Condition is clean, There's ONE very minor door ding, no other kisses. Interior's clean.

Please do Trade & Retail prices. I know it's going to hurt, but he got the car as a gift from the in-laws, so any money is free money. :) It will probably be traded for an '03 Accord.

    Thanks again, much appreciated!
  • nairb2nairb2 Member Posts: 9
Thanks....I think. I was hoping for more but you're probably right about the mileage.
  • 96_i30_5sp96_i30_5sp Member Posts: 127
Thanks, Terry. It seemed cheap to me too so we went with my wife to check it out. It was a fresh trade-in so they hadn't even cleaned it up. The interior was salvageable and apart from a few nicks and scratches the paint was not too bad except for the fading bumpers. It's the premium edition so it had everything. Drove nice but they had mixed up the mileage on the phone: 97k instead of 83k. My wife is reluctant to take a chance on it (it will be her vehicle) so we passed. OTOH, I just spotted a 2001 Trooper with only 30k for $13,9k. It's not loaded like the SLX so no leather or slider but it's still under warranty, TOD (torque-on-demand) and a bigger engine. What do you think? :-)
  • rroyce10rroyce10 Member Posts: 9,332
..... Gheeeez, I gotta start hangin' out with you .. you find all the cheap deals ..

01, 4x4 with 30k ..? for $13,9.? Thats one heck of a deal if it's nice, it's one heck of a deal if it's not nice .. l.o.l... check it out, see what the real deal is.

    Terry.
  • rroyce10rroyce10 Member Posts: 9,332
....... Ok, it's the right color - what you are saying is .. this puppy looks 99ish, it looks and drives like it has 30k, it's deep in rubber, has ONE itsy bitsy parking lot kiss, we have BOSE, chromes, bun warmers, but No Slider, No paint work and the interior looks like it's been "hovered" in .... right.?

When I look at a vehicle, the first thing I look at is the drivers seat, for whatever reason some drivers seats "look" like they have 100k on em' when they have only 20/30k .. then some others, look like they 100K+ on em' with 20/30k, if you get my drift.

So, based on what you saying if it's a Nice one .. depending on the dealer, on a trade you are lookin' at $3,0/$3,5 - the xtra's help.

Your a Left Coaster, you whacko's love to drive 100 miles for a slurpy to a 7-11, so this might make great inventory for Retail Rd, hi milers seem to do well on the left coast (if they are sharp.!) .. sounds like $6,9 in the paper and let the nice person at the 7-11, snatch it up for $5,7/$6,5 and a months worth of free Slurpys ...

The nice thing about this driver is .. it's free, now that's a deal.!

    Terry ;-)

.... Sorry, the devil made me say it ...

    Terry :-)
  • rroyce10rroyce10 Member Posts: 9,332
    ... Hey, thanks .. that's what my g/f says .. l.o.l...

For starters, only your friend can deal with GMAC .. if "you" get involved GMAC just feels it's another buyer. Your "friend" (get my drift here) .. needs to call up with all the proper info and negotiate a better pay-off, he has to get in touch with the district Mgr or regional Mgr, Not the person that answers the phone and sits behind the computer screen they are Not decision makers, their bosses are .. and do not go through the dealer.

Make sure your "friend" doesn't get into all the stuff about hi miles, lease co's kinda can figure that out and then they know you (I mean your friend, ha) are boxed in, and someone besides themselves will be paying the penalty.

If it's a nice one, they will do the ultra high $14's, low $15's at the block, maybe more if it's a baby doll .. so if you can snatch it for that $15/$16ish range that would be a Great deal ..

    I hope this helps ...

Thanks for your help. Got the 2001 Nissan Altima SE (see message 9057). Got it for $14650 plus tax and titling. It was for my mother and she's not a good buyer...salesman says no so she blurts out a higher price!!!

She wrecked her 94 Altima GXE which was in fine shape but I think the insurance company was quite fair appraising it at $5300.

My wife drives a '01 Altima GXE Ltd. Ed. and truly loves the car. Being the Toyotamaniac that I am, the Altima really isn't that bad.
Living in South Florida also, may I ask where you bought the vehicle? We got ours from Endicott here in Pompano. A much better buying experience than at Coral Springs Nissan.

Hello, I'm looking to find out the value of my 1996 Dodge Dakota. Trim level is SLT, extended cab, 2 wheel drive, V8, automatic tranny, 125,000 miles (ouch), one door ding (which is impressive as I live in RI !!!) , power everything, new rubber, cruise control, AC, tilt steering wheel, two tone paint, alloy wheels, towing package, bed liner and well maintained. Thanks in advance. Matt

... Good morning .. well let's see here, it's a Ecab, it's a SLT, it's a V8 and it's an auto, lot's of help going on here ... cuz, your going to need it.

New sneakers and one dent, wow.. two-tone and all the stuff to go with, more help - I guess I don't have to tell ya, those miles are going to eat you alive - On a trade, you are lookin around $2,5/$3,0.

Personally, I would take it down Retail Rd spend $100 or so at the detail shop, make it look new, all the service records sittin' on the front seat, drop a nice fat 5 liner in the biggest paper in the area for $5,9 and let it go for $4,9/$5,5 ..

Hey, good luck and thanks for stoppin' by.

Terry, they didn't honor the $13,9k on the Trooper... price mistake by $2k. lol So, that got me looking around and I found another one, '01 S 4x4 auto, 30k, burgundy color, for $14,9k. Checked with Isuzu and the vehicle has never had any work done and has 1.5 year, 20k b2b and 3.5 years, 30k powertrain warranty remaining. The problem is that I don't think it has had its 30k service performed yet and it is expensive ($5-600). Should I still jump on it? :-)
