That wouldn't happen to be luxury motors off of ogden would it. Have been up there plenty of times they always have a little bit of everything luxury or exotic. The owners are Middle eastern I think so probably oil money and not drugs
.... Hi Jim .. it's a handshaker.. right.? - Ok, no Nav, but everything else. Let's also say it's puuuuurfect and it "glows in the dark".
A lot of what this is worth is also on color, so lets say it's silver or black. You won't be getting any help from all those miles, Jag buyers like em' ultra low, on a trade you will be in and around $22/$23ish depending on the dealer ...
..... I'm sure these guys have a nice big Big credit line somewhere .. there's dealers like this in about every area of the country.
Most of the vehicles that you see on their property, came from the auctions or from other Dealers in the area, it sounds like a big operation and a monthly nut there is Expensive, they floorplan it with a lender, just like the Ford store down the street.
Figure about a 1/4 point over prime, not including the real estate, insurance, taxes, mechanical, lights, etc, etc, etc. -- But then again, they may role on just pure cash ... I doubt it's drug related, back in the 80's in S Florida big operations would open up on drug money, but when you drive around in Ferrari's and Lambo's all day long, it kinda rings a big bell ..l.o.l..
Apache Offshore boats went that way and most people don't even realize it, when you purchase one of their boats the money actually goes to the DEA, it's Govt. owned .. kinda interesting.. huh.? But, don't tell anyone, it's a big secret .. yawn.
Too answer the other question, Jag's are doing fine ... Ford saved their butt in 92 (?) and their sales are up about 70%, personally I don't feel they will ever hit that target market and the re-sale is just about average or less, 2000 $53,0 S types are doing around $30 at the block, so we will see.
I want to know a realistic trade-in value for my 2001 Spa Yellow Honda S2000 with 11,000 miles. Car is very clean, garaged, with all dealer service history and always hand washed by myself. I live in L.A. California area and I'm not sure if I should try to sell it private party or trade it in to a dealer?
I live in the Dallas/Ft Worth metroplex and looking to trade in my 1999 Volvo S70 T-5 with 39,400 miles. The vehicle is very clean, only one very slight ding on one door. White with tan leather interior, spoiler, single cd, sun/moon roof, etc. What can I reasonably expect the appraisal to come in at? I have been told that Car Max is a good place to have it appraised. Any direction you can provide would be appreciated. I am looking at purchasing a 2003 Acura MDX premium model. What are your thoughts on this vehicle? It appeals to me in safety, resale, reliability, and luxury. What do you think?
Im new to the message board, but Im really glad its here cause I need some advice. Im about to trade in my 2001 Infiniti I30t that has 39547 miles on it for a 2003 SVT Cobra. My friend works at the dealer, but im beginning to understand why its not good to mix friends with business. Anyways, the *best* price they could give me was 15500. That is way below the price I was expecting. The car is in overall good condition aside from the scratch on the corner of the bumper from someone pulling into a space too fast. I was wondering if that really is the best price I can expect and whether or not I should take it or sell it privately, but, I realize it is hard to sell this particular car for the price I want. I hope you can help, thanx.
....... Let me throw something at you .. "I'm guessing" , your friend doesn't really have enough "horsepower" to make or break deals or push figures around .. at most stores, the Salesperson doesn't put figures on the used cars or new.
But anyway, $15,5 seems low, real low .. but your miles are ultra high and based on what you are telling us, it has a few parking lot kisses and since we don't know the color or the area which you live, it seems like you aren't getting much help. Even though he/she is your friend they can only do so much, so don't take it personally ..
I'm guessing tires are also needed, plus you are trading an Import at a Domestic store and sometimes that can hinder a real trade value.
With all that said, on a trade, your vehicle is worth in and around the $17's ..
...... Well you forgot to tell us .. if .. it's an Auto or not .......... ^*%@# .!
killing me .....
I will do this, just this one time I'm in a extremely good mood, that's because I'm off to a wedding and thank God it's not mine.
You have the right color inside and out for your area, miles are ok, it's got the spoiler, wheels, slider -- So if all it has is the small ding, service is 100%, deep in rubber and it looks 01 .. then on a trade, you should be around the low to mid $16's ..
The MDX's are great vehicles .. you will love it, quiet, well built, should run forever and of course great re-sale .. just make sure you drive it for an hr or so, to make sure it's what You are lookin' for ...
Yeah right .. these are great vehicles, lot's of bang for the buck, Honda did a great job with these ...
On a trade, if it's ultra super .. you are going to be in and around that $25/$26 figure in the land of the "Left Coasters".
Me personally, I would go down Retail Rd. .. nice big Ad for $29,900 and say goodbye at $29/$29,5 -- you should be able to unload that quiet color in nooo time.
Hey, thanks man. Well, I usually park it in the parking lot of my college, which is in Queens of NYC. It is a silver color. Also, is there any way of getting that to be in the 17's? Should I take it up with the manager or let it be? The paper work isnt final yet, so do you think I can possibly bump up the price at all?? Hope you can help me out
Terry, I didn't quite get what I was planning ($14k) but close: $14,5k for 2001 S 4x4 auto with TOD, burgundy with tan interior, 30k miles, plus a pretty low interest rate for a used vehicle (5.4%). The Trooper is solid as a tank, not a squeak or rattle. You should have seen us test driving it through a torn-up field in 4WD-Low and being chased by two dogs. The wife's happy! :-) Thanks alot for your help! P.S. I just found in the glovebox an envelope with an extended warranty to 100k from Isuzu, which is their most comprehensive option and most likely transferable.
.... Oooooh, it's looks like you did good, reeeaall good .. that's a lot of vehicle for the buck ..
Call the warranty co. -- as a rule, when someone trades a vehicle, they "cash" (or the dealer) the warranty in, and gets the balance of the $$ .. so check on that, so you don't find out 2 years down the road when the service guy says "sorry warranty was Xceled 2 yrs ago" ..
...... I can't say how that particular store works, everyone is different.
Why they hit your vehicle at $15,5 is probably because they are a domestic store and a little shy on that kind of import, with those kind of hi miles or perhaps it needs lotsa of work .. but that's just my guess. Sometimes it's just much easier to shop around .. but it's a done deal right ..?
Again kinda keep in mind, it was the boss who gave the figures to your friend, so if you feel it will work - then talk with them.
This is a hard call for me, cuz I'm not there lookin' at your vehicle.
I wanted to drop you a line and thank you for everything you do in this forum. I decided to go with the 2003 Expedition and not the 2003 Yukon or Sequoia, for the following reasons.
1) Sequoia was just too expensive. I can't believe I am actually spending as much as I am for a vehicle, and the Sequoia would have been almost $4000 more. That $4000 would have been financed and I simply wouldn't pay that big of a payment for a vehicle. It will hold it's value better but I just wasn't comfortable paying the necessary premium.
2) Despite reviews I just didn't like the Yukon as much as the Expedition. I actually thought it felt more "floaty" and less buttoned down. It just seemed like more work to drive it. Still nice though. The GM piston slap was also in the back of my mind because I replaced the block in my Outback for the same reason and don't want to go through that again.
Finally I really wanted to say thanks for the trade-in info on my 95 Explorer. A dealer here sold me the Expedition for $100 over invoice and gave me $5000 for my trade. My coworker still wants the vehicle so I am going to sell it to him for $5500, a couple of hundred more than the tax savings on trade, but the $5000 quote framed it's value to me. You nailed it a $4000 or $4500 so I feel like I did OK.
Two final questions: Whatever happened to Bill, and do you really were plaid pants still?
A friend of mine is asking me for advice on how to handle a title situation when selling his car. As I don't have a clue, I thought I'd ask Terry or Bill or anyone else here:
Seems this guy bought a used, fairly high end German car about 10 years ago. The OD had been replaced at about 20K miles, so the first owner, & the dealer that my friend bought it from prepared the title transfer documents & signed them indicating the mileage on the new OD, but checked the blanks indicating "True Mileage Unknown". However, when the RMV sent the guy his new title, they screwed up--in reverse--& issued a regular, "actual mileage" title. (Indicating the lower mileage of the new Odometer).
So now he's trying to sell the car--it's very nice--& still low miles (no matter how you figure the miles). But trying to explain all this to potential buyers is a real pain--many used car shoppers are real suspicious anyway, & this extra confusion doesn't help. He did a car fax & nothing showed up about the OD replacement. And the original dealer that did the OD replacement doesn't seem to have service records anymore.
My buddy wants to do the right thing, but at the same time it seems screwy to go thru so much explanation over 20K miles on a 15 y.o. car, & then--here's the kicker--I am thinking--cause the next owner to get a TMU title (needlessly perhaps?).
..... There should be a odo stamp in the drivers side door jam and paper work that goes with.
Since it was 10 years ago, it may not show up and "perhaps" the dealer network won't show either. Someone somewhere has the original paper work.
Me .. I would just be straight up with the potential buyer, show all the service records and history of the vehicle -- What could very well happen is, he sells the vehicle and the title agency picks it off the old sale when they "flip" the new title or he takes it in for service somewhere .. and Bang, he's sitting there looking like some kinda of terrorist .. honesty is the best policy in a situation like this ..
Sounds like this was a Great deal. Kinda remember, the Expedition is a great product .. my humble, stupid opinion was just based on "looks". That's why I always say -
Always buy and drive what you like .!
1.) nobody knows.
2.) and yes, I where plaid shorts on the golf course, it keeps my score lower and their scores higher, that's cuz their laughin' for 18 holes.
I'd like trade in/private sale values for the following: 1) 99 Toyota Solara SE V6, black, charcoal cloth interior, manual trans., 47k miles, good condition and 2) 01 Nissan Pathfinder LE, 20k miles, bronzed grey, tan cloth interior, excellent condition inside and out. Both in suburban Chicago area. Thanks.
I live in Orange County in California and my friend who lives in South Carolina will be selling his BMW early december because he is leaving the country. He wants to drive the car until he leaves because he doesn't want to rent a car or anything...and I am thinking of buying it from him... I actually drove the car when I went over there this summer, and it is in good condition.... It is 1999 BMW 328i (new body style) It has a premium package, sports package, steptronic transmission, xenon headlamps and now it's got 41K miles... but he told me to expect about 50K miles in early December... Because this year is almost over and he has to drive the car until the day he leave, I am not sure what I should pay... I did look up the Kelly Blue Book pricing for retail and it was little less than $22K for now.... Considering the fact that he is going to put at least 8000 extra miles on the car and I will be actually buying the car in december, what would be a good price for this BMW? How much would he get if he takes it to the dealer in december? I just don't want to waste my hard earned cash... Can somebody please help me? Thank you...
Thanks, very succinct advice, I'll pass it along. The car is a MB 560SL I believe (might be an older model SL).
Another question if you don't mind: does a TMU title--that is well documented, for an OD replacement--lower the value of a vehicle? I don't think it would turn me off necessarily.
...... It's a Solara SE with a V6, no slider a handshaker and some miles going on .. If it's a nice one, deep in rubber, little or few parking lot kisses .. on a trade, you should be around the mid to high $9's - the handshaker just kills it. Down Retail rd, $12,9 in the paper and let the 1st one with $11,5/$12,5 take it home .. quickly.
The Pathfinder is a 4WD, it's got leather, it's got the moon and miles aren't all bent out of shape .. if it's a nice one, you should see around that $21ish figure on a trade. Down retail Rd, drop it in at $24,9 and let the nice furnace guy buy it for $23,5/$24,5 ....
Red, Grey cloth, bucket seats, third seat, 37,000 miles. Appears to be in excellent/good condition. Dealer is asking $23,900. My friend wants it bad...
Terry, Thanks for the feedback on my Volvo S70 T-5 and yes it is an automatic.
Everything I've heard on the MDX is positive. Mid-size SUV is what I'm looking for. It's just difficult to spend that kind of $, but it appears to be the best value for that vehicle segment. I'd appreciate any MDX owners feedback both positive and negative.
Terry do you know how long it takes for an accident claim to hit your car fax report. The reason I ask is I ran a Car fax report on my car and it was clean but my car has been in two accidents one minor less than $1000 and one major.
Our loose topic for tonight is most anticipated 2003 models. Hope to see you there!

What can I expect from dealer on trade-in of 2000 Ody EX, Gray, 29,000 miles. Normal wear and tear interior and exterior. No cosmetic problems. Scheduled maintance adheared to at Dealer.
Looks like Dealers are selling same car for between 24 and 25, from my research. (Chicago Metro area).
.... On a trade, you are lookin' at the high $19's (real money) maybe the ultra low $20,0 figure if it's Stone cold puurrrfect. .. that's why it's better for you to buy it for the $15,8 ..
Most people that lease a vehicle owe more than it's worth at lease end, that's why they go on to the next vehicle, they have too. --
You my friend, are one of the very few and fortunate ones on the planet .. you can buy this, and retail it for $21/$22ish or keep it for a year and still sell it and make a little jingle.
If you are Out of the mini-van business and on to something else, then I would buy it out, throw it in the paper for $22,9 and let the nice Rocket Scientist buy it for $22 ---
Even with the taxes paid on $15,8, you would still make $5 grand and that can go on towards the new kitchen and a new lease vehicle .. what's there to think about ..?
I've got a 99 Passat with 38K. It's a green 4 door turbo with a 5 speed and CD changer. No obvious body damage and non-smoker car. What can I get for it as a trade-in?
.... I really don't know how Carfax gets the info .. I think a lot of it is state related. Some states report accidents in 72 hrs, some take 3 months .. and some depending on "how much" never do, then you have Florida that makes you report a $50 love bug attack .. uuugh.
.... It's the right color, that's for sure .. and the miles are ok.
I would assume, it has the 3rd seat .. Nak ..? On a trade if it's ultra nice and no Mcdonald invasions then you should be in and around that $33 figure if it's puuuurrrfect and depending on the dealer .. these are still hot commodities, so if you retail it - $39,9 in the paper and grab that $37/$39 ...
Thanks Terry, the reason I ask is because I had a potential buyer for my car so being honest I inform him about the previous accidents. So he ran a Carfax which came up blank, now I get the impression that he believes I alter the vin number to hide the extent of the accidents. Wierd
Terry, I have a 2000 BMW 528i wagon, 14.5K miles, black, auto, tan leather, wood, SR, (Premium package) CD, htd. seats, mint condition, I bought it used this past Jan. from a BMW dealer so it has CPO warranty in addition to remaining factory warranty. I paid around $34K.
What do you think it's worth, privately, & trade in?
It's a great car! But not very sexy, & I'm just a bit bored with it. Am thinking of getting an X5 instead. Going to look at an '01 X5, silver/black leather, SR, CD, no heated seats (in New England), 5 sp. manual, 9K miles, $37.5K "firm" by a private seller, doesn't sound like it has much in the way of optional goodies other than the leather & SR--what do you think?
Hi Terry. Hope the hardest working man in the Town Hall is doing well.
Have a friend that just totaled her Explorer. Hydroplaned across the freeway twice before landing in the back of a semi. She's bruised but O.K., The car, however, is toast.
Trying to help her get a good figure for her to deal with the insurance company.
...... Oooooch, ouch .. Ooooch ouch.! I'm sure she's a little sore after a spin like that, she's lucky too be alive.
Hmmmm, it's hard to tell with insurance co's .. they sometimes pay too much (that's a good thing) and most times pay too little, I'm thinkin' in the $3's ...
Comments
A lot of what this is worth is also on color, so lets say it's silver or black. You won't be getting any help from all those miles, Jag buyers like em' ultra low, on a trade you will be in and around $22/$23ish depending on the dealer ...
Let us know, you have our interest.

Another question if you don't mind: does a TMU title--that is well documented, for an OD replacement--lower the value of a vehicle? I don't think it would turn me off necessarily.
Thanks again, Woody
It's a SL and they are a sought after vehicle .. the documentation is a life saviour and it may hold the price, If it's a reeeaall nice one.

Thanks for your help.

2000 Toyota Land Cruiser, 30k, one owner, white, all options, minor rear bumper blemishes (paint only), non smoker. Located in Texas.
Am interested in trade and retail values.
Thanks for your help.
Thanks
3rd seat ..? dual air ..? If so, then 23,9 is a fair asking price, I have a feeling that $22,5/$23 will take it home ...

Good question .. I would like to know myself.
Terry.
I hope this helps ...
Terry.
It's a base model without sunroof, leather or alloy wheels.
potential buyer for my car so being honest I inform him about the previous accidents. So he ran a Carfax which came up blank, now I get the impression that he believes I alter the vin number
to hide the extent of the accidents. Wierd
What do you think it's worth, privately, & trade in?
It's a great car! But not very sexy, & I'm just a bit bored with it. Am thinking of getting an X5 instead. Going to look at an '01 X5, silver/black leather, SR, CD, no heated seats (in New England), 5 sp. manual, 9K miles, $37.5K "firm" by a private seller, doesn't sound like it has much in the way of optional goodies other than the leather & SR--what do you think?
thanks! Woody
Have a friend that just totaled her Explorer. Hydroplaned across the freeway twice before landing in the back of a semi. She's bruised but O.K., The car, however, is toast.
Trying to help her get a good figure for her to deal with the insurance company.
1997 XLT, 4 door, V8, leather, white, 2WD
165K miles (yes, 165,000)
Really was in great shape, otherwise.
How much can she hope for?
Thanks, as always, in advance.
Hmmmm, it's hard to tell with insurance co's .. they sometimes pay too much (that's a good thing) and most times pay too little, I'm thinkin' in the $3's ...
Hey thanks,
Terry.
