98 Chevy s-10 long bed 84000 miles, air,am/fm cassette, tilt, cruise, sliding rear window metallic paint
98 Dodge Stratus 64,000 air CD/tape/AMFM, tilt cruise metallic paint, great condition
TMV for this particular vehicle says $26,887 (certified)
TMV does stand for Terry Market Value, right?
As far as crack pipes--haven't seen em' yet---but haven't gone in the building, either....
Damn nice car--just need to get the damn nice price!~
The Jeepster has lot's of miles for the year, but it's a Sahara and a handshaker .. trade time, somewhere on that high $10, low $11ish range and $12/$13ish figure if you sell it on your own ...
I hope this helps ...
Terry.
Trade side, mid to high $9's depending on the dealer ..
Terry.
Terry :-)
Hey, I think we are on too something ..l.o.l..
Terry ;-)
The miles are high, but way low for the year .. on a trade, you might see $2,0/$2,5. This would be a great vehicle for Retail Rd. - detail it out, make it look like a diamond, have every one of those service records sitting on the front seat after a nice big 5 liner in the biggest paper .. drop it in your area for $3,9 and $3,2/$3,500 let's it go bye bye...
Terry.
If it's a clean one, lookin' and driving like 98ish, service is all there, no weird kisses, no re-paints, then on a trade you might be lookin' at around $2,5, might see $3,0 if it's a "baby doll" .. on the retail end, this would do fine at $4,9 in the paper, and let some nice Elf take it off your hands for $4/$4,5 ..
Good luck ...
Terry.

Looking for trade-in value on my 1997 Pathfinder LE 4x4 with the luxury package.
Mahogany Pearl, running boards, cruise, leather, heated seats, Premium Bose sound system, alloy wheels, ABS, etc. Very clean, non-smoker, one-owner, 100k miles, tires purchased this year, very few dings/scratches (normal wear), drives really well. Religious with scheduled maintenance.
Also, what do car dealers tend to go by for values? Nada, kbb, ?
Thanks!

Can you give me private and trade values?
He has had it in the paper for 35,5 34,0 and 33,0 and no takers yet...
Found this area in the Town Hall and am wondering what the approximate trade in value of my vehicle is.
I am in the Northern NJ NYC Metro area.
1999 Ford Contour 2.5L V6
Silver Metallic
Auto
AC
AM/FM Cassette (NO CD)
ABS
Leather Steering Wheel & Parking Brake (OOH) lol
Spoiler
Alloy Wheels
Fog Lights
27,600 miles
Cloth Interior
Mechanically sound. There is a scratch on the driver's side door, a ding from a shopping cart above the driver wheel well, and the the bumpers are marked/scuffed from city parking.
I was looking at new Subarus, but am considering going with a slightly used one.
What would be a fair price to offer for
'02 Forester S, Dark Blue, Cloth seats, 5 Spd, 11,910 miles, (AC, ABS, AM/FM/CD)
and an
'02 Outback Wagon H6 3.0 VDC - those pretty much come loaded.
Thanks in advance for any information you may have.
It's a good color, miles are super low, you got a few kisses here and there, the big winners here is the 24V - V6, miles and it's an auto. Trade side, you are gonna be in and around that $5ish figure, might, just might see $5,5 if it's just a "baby doll" and deep in rubber .. if not, start deducting. If you hang it in the street, start it at $7,9 and anything between $6,5/$7,0 is a winner ..
On the Forester and $18ish plus trade and ttl would be a Great deal for you .. and on the wagon, it sounds like your vehicle and $20ish .. let's see what happens.
Terry.
It's a 99 .. right.? - 27k .. right.?
It's a SE, with all the power stuff right ..?
It's the 24V-V6 .. right.?
No accidents, no paintwork, tires are at least 40%, a kiss here, a kiss there, runs strong .?
$3 grand .? - I thought you would post back and say "those commie *#^+$@&", they only offered me $4,0 or $4,5 ... $3 grand, something is not right here. They can go too any auction in the nation and snatch $4,0 /$4,500 sleep walking, And it needs work. I could "phone call" this little dude to a Ford dealer for $5,0 (if it's a nice one) --
Time for you to see some different dealers, like starting now.
Good luck ...
Terry.
These are nice vehicles, I have driven a few .. if this "city slicker" is still lookin' and driven NEW, then this should be an easy sale.
The problem here is, he's asking waaay too much money, $35 .. naah, $33 .. naaah. Dealers are buying the ultra cleans with 10/14/18k for the $27's .. your boy needs to be hitting around $30,900 .. then he can sell it to the nice snow plow driver for $29,5/$30,5 ..
Terry.
The dealers here are crying because they claim they can't sell used cars and new car sales are down.
The '02 Forester at 18.8K is only a few hundred less than what u can pick up a new '03 Forester.
I'm gonna shop the contour around and if there are no takers, then just keep it.
I posted this a week or so ago for a friend; 1998 Camry LE green 4cyl auto pwr stuff 67k miles nice shape. Terry hit it at $6-6.5, mostly because of the miles. My buddy wasn't too happy, so I did a little digging...
It turns out that Terry wrote in July of '01: ".. A 'clean' 98 Camry LE will do over $11,000 --- So I guess you are in the target price, that's for sure"..
Well, that's approximately when my friend bought this thing. It was nice, low miles (30+), certified... and he paid $13,5 or so... not cheap, but quite in line with Terry's post from back then... the store probably had close to $12 in it... no problem here.
Then he puts over 30k miles on it in less than two years, turning a "lo-miler" into a "hi-miler". And the value drops like a rock.
I think there's a lesson here for the rest of us. The nice, clean, low-milers are the ones to buy, IF you're a dealer, 'cause they will fly off the lot. But for us civilians, these cars may be an expensive proposition.
My friend's cost is around 20 cents/mile in deprecation, assuming he lost $6k and drove 30k miles -- it works out if he gets $7,5 on the street for it. Had he bought a new '01 LE for $19, would it be worth $13 today (retail) with 33 clicks and the original warranty? It'd be more than that, I think...
Not to start a food fight or anything, but there's a lot more to this business than the old saw about losing thousands "as you drive off the lot"... the exit ramp of the used-car lot can also be long and steep...

Any thoughts. I'm trying to decide if is is worth paying the $4500 for the 2000.
Thanks in advance Namrok

This has been a looong run for the used car market, contrary to WSJ, Money, Kiplinger, etc. - Vehicles that I was paying $9,0 for in April, were still doing the tall $8's in early September, it took 0% on the 02's, then the 0% on the 03's and the rebates to drop the market .. and that just happened in October/November.
The other problem your friend has, there is just a Ton of Camry's in the market right now, lease returns, rentals, commercial and private trades, etc. I'm seeing 80/100/120 at a whack per sale, and that's alot.
Terry :-)
Anyway, I didn't get to finish the post, the 01 Camry's with 25/30k are barely breaking that $11 figure, most are doing that $10,5/$10,9 zipcode .. thats a $7/$8 grand hit.
Terry.
If it's super clean, lookin' 00ish, drives like 40k, looks like 40k - stands tall inside and out and service is 100%, no click click with the 4x4, no paintwork, super limited in the kiss area and needs -0- .. then trade side you should be lookin' at that $6ish area (there doing that at the block), the miles are gonna kill ya here. But, it's a Nissan and they still pull the money with large miles.
Your from the Mass area, most dealers like to use the Galves book for the wholesale figure and NADA is more on the retail figure, but then again they might be using KBB .. who knows.
This would make a Great retail piece, it's snowing and it's winter for another 3 months -- Me personally, I would have this dude detailed, make it look like a diamond, nice big fat Ad for $9,5 and let it go for $8/$9,0 .. I bet it wouldn't take long.
Terry.
I have a 1997 Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo, 4x4 with 45,000 miles.

I am trying to determine estimated trade in values for my 2 vehicles:
1) 2001 Mazda Protege LX2.0
19,500 miles , Auto, AC, Front & side Air bags, ABS,CD, Casette, Power Moon roof, power doors/mirrors/windows, cloth interior
2) 2001 Mazda Tribute ES
23,000 miles - Auto, AC, Front & Side Air Bags, ABS, 6 CD changer, casette, moonroof, Power doors/mirriors/windows, Leather, Foglamps, all weather mats, Tow hook.
Unfortunately my truck was rearended 6 months back and suffered $8k damage ($5k for labor !) . wondering how much of the value would have depreciated.
I am trying to pull a 2-1 trade for a '03 Accord EX V6.
Dealer has offered me 6,500 for the Protege. Avg. KBB/Edmunds for trade in is $9700
thanks !
Plus the location where you live will help also. Btw, is the Tribute FWD or 4WD?
Here some additional info. Both vehicles are in SE Michigan
1) Protege is Emerald Mica
2) Tribute is Black 4WD
DTWLEU - thanks for the heads up
1999 Lexus GS300. Red/tan, CD changer, roof, alloys (normal stuff). 42K.
Whats one of these doing these days? How about a comparable 2000?
At a local used car dealer, not Lexus certified.
2020 Acura RDX tech SH-AWD, 2023 Maverick hybrid Lariat luxury package.
Your getting a year newer, better warranty, less miles and you will always be able to re-coup it at trade time .. what's there to think about.?
Besides all that, the RL's are great vehicles - ooop's, you already knew that.
Terry ;-)
Are you saying 1 9 8 7 ...? 63 real live klicks.?
Well, it has noooo miles, that's for sure .. single owner, service all done, Michs for tires, it's even the right color. Only 2 little drawbacks, it's got a little drip drip (probably a gasket) and it's a handshaker ..
I can't tell from your profile where you are from .. but if there is no rust, no major meteorite hit's, no drive by's, then trade side you are lookin' at around $500/$1,000, depending on the dealer.
This is a GREAT retail piece, if you live in an area like Mathias with colleges and stuff, this thing will sell like .. yesterday. Nice Big Ad in the biggest paper in your area for $3,900 and let one of the nice Varsity people take it home for $2,5/$3,5 ..
Good luck and let me know ...
Terry.
All righty then .. it's a 01, it's a 5.9, auto, Q cab, 2WD, SLT, tow pack, right color, miles are just a tinge on the high side .. depending on the dealer you should be lookin' at the high $14's, low $15's on a trade.
Thanks for stoppin' by ...
Terry.
Santa.
If it's as nice as the low miles, then you should be in that $7ish figure for a trade.
Terry.
Ooooof, man, wow, oooch , ouch, $8 grand .? Gheeeez, someone is lucky to be alive.!
It's an 4x4 ES with all the stuff, any other time it would be worth the high $15's maybe the low $16's on a trade. This a hard one to guess, I would need to be lookin' and feelin' this one, kinda like a saturday night date. l.o.l. I'm thinkin' it's going to be in that $12/$13 range now. But let me know .. !
The LX 2.0 (great little vehicles) is good on the miles, it's an auto, moon, abs, side bagers, sounds like a nice one .. no paint or accidents.. right.? - $6,5 ..? whooof, were they wearing masks .? Unless this vehicle has been hit, tires are worn off, the interior looks like a Taliban experiment, then you should be seeing the low to mid $7's .. $9's, not on this planet.
Food for thought .. the Stars and Bars might wave in the south, but in Michigan the flag of Ford still waves .. you may consider doing a little shopping in the Buckeye state, MI still doesn't believe that there is vehicles that come from that little island in the Pacific, that starts with the letter "J" ..l.o.l..
I hope this helps ...
Terry.
These are one of my all time favorights.! I'm driving a 03 now .. Cinnabar, that's the color and that also happens to be my favorite .. hehe.
It depends on when they took it on trade, 42k is a little on the stiff side, they probably have $22ish in it with the stuff .. $24ish is a good sale price .. an 00 is doing around that $24/$25ish figure with 20k, a good sale price is around $27ish ..
It's close to the end of the year and the "tumbleweed weeks" are about here, I'm sure they are lookin' for a buyer ~ what are they asking for it.?
Terry.
That's -27 Celsius for the metrically enabled.
Wonder what that'll do for trade-in values today.
-Mathias
brrrrrrrrr..
Hmm, time to go Miata shopping I guess? 8)
