shaking, just as what cnn2 said, but no check engine light on. After igniting, everything is ok.
Another question is what the defination for quiet engine? How quiet it should be? Just curious.
from KIA and Hyundai. I was hoping the stigma
was over because the new Hyundais looked promising. I went to check out the new Hyundais.
I was impressed with the XG300 and Santa Fe SUV.
I am still unimpressed with the rest though. The 2001 Elantra has seats that feel very harsh like the covers were made of burlap or coarse polyester
or something. I had to slam the glove compartment
four times before it closed with a cheap click.
The styling is cute, but that is all the praise I
can give for this car. Nubira in my opinion is still a much better car.
Simply put - your Daewoo is not any better (especially if it is based on ANY GM product/parts), at all, in the least bit, than any other car. Especially a Hyundai. I would not consider a Daewoo for lots of reasons, main one being there are too few dealerships, styling wise they are horrendous, and they don't even offer a car with a decent powerplant. Even their pseudo-luxury car has a rough four cylinder. (I know - you think it has lots of torque - 148lbs is still less than a TDI Jetta....) And that horrible grill on the front.....my opinion - I would take a Hyundai ACCENT over a Daewoo Leganza.
Dont know if I want Hyundai buy them or not, Hyundai is already spend lots of money, don't want them to become the next Daewoo.
good luck to all with their cars
Does anyone know how low the 2001 5-spd's rev on the higway? It's important to me, one who owns a Subaru Loyale 3-spd automatic that revs at 4100 rpms at 70mph! What a piece of junk.
Thanks guys.

One of the Hyundai sales reps I spoke to told me this will be the last year for Hyundai's 10/100,000 warranty, now that sales are up and they've established a "reputation for quality." This sounds like sales pressure to me, but has anyone else heard this?
What problems did you expierience with your Daewoo to make you believe it is a piece of crap? What model to you own and how long have you owned it?
The check engine light is also a service problem, you need to have the wire harness replaced from the oxygen sensor. This will fix this problem and
any rough idleing.
The rear brake problem is also a know issue with the rear drums, some of them are warping, I had both of mine replaced, and the above item fixed.
Beside driving convenience and price, which transmission works better, automatic or manual?
I am not sure Hyundai will have a rebate on the '01 model (at least not any time soon). The manual for '01 is wonderful (much better than the previous one)
There is a $500 rebate on the '01 accent
I am planning to buy an elantra 2001 . can you let me know the price for a 2001 Elantra/auto/package 2(cruise & keyless) /floormats /mudguard .has any one brought one and also how much to pay for it .please reply to the post .
Anyway, I was contacted by a Hyundai rep after having some warranty work done on the car, and the lady I spoke with listened to my story about the rear window and recommended that I contact Hyundai Motor America's office. I did, and they agreed that if I send them a copy of the receipt for the window they will make a "one time good will payment" for the replacement cost. I think this was extremely nice, although I would have preferred to have this handled at the dealer level. Mom was right... the squeaky wheel does get the grease on occasion.
For those about to buy any car, just something to remember: The dealer ALWAYS makes a profit on ANY car they sell. If the dealer is offering you a car for under invoice, rest assured that he is getting some payback from the factory. Selling a car for "under invoice" is a good deal for consumers, but is also getting to be another sales tool used to make you believe you have actually out-manuvered the sales staff. Sorry to burst your collective bubble, but show me a dealer who loses money on the cars he sells, and I will show you a dealer who will be out of business (not to mention sales people) soon.
Elantra in Singapore is only available in 1.6 L GLS model without Sun Roof. It comes with 6 cups holders, side impact beams, auto power window(all four), remote alarm, under carriage rust proofing coat & auto adjustable blind spot mirror on both sides. There are also 4 dics brakes all round with ABS comes standard. The hatchback is also available with the same goodies with additional wood trimming.
Feel free to visit www.komoco.com.sg for more info, well I know most of you people are from the USA, but I think if you wanna know more about Hyundai 2001 with pics, this is the website to go. For the benefit of doubt, Hyundai top 3rd position in last year sale in Singapore with Trajets MPV out selling all other Japanese models.
Exchange rate from Sing Dolloar is 1.76 is to 1 US Dollar.
A typical brand new Hyundai Elantra will cost about 48,000 US Dollar. Japanese Cars cost even more. Surprise isn't it?? We have very high import and funny tax here is Singapore because the goverment wants to control the amount of cars on the road since we are about the size of Malta with 3.5million population. This 48,000 US Dollars includes a monthly market determined COE (Certificate of entitlement) price which is mandotary to have it for the vehicle running on the road for a period of 10 years only, thereafter you can choose to renew it after 10 years or scrap your car.

I am not sure about U.S, but in Singapore, Hyundai has proven to be more reliable compare to their past failure of "Pony" and "Stella" models which has been discountinued production years ago. Atos 1.0 L is not sold here in Singapore. The basic model is 1.3 & 1.5 Accent 2001, 1.6 Elantra 2001 only no 1.8 & 2.0l version, Sonata 2.0 auto, Grandeur 2.5 /3.0 V6, Trajet MPV 2.0 / 2.7 V6, Coupe 1.6 Manual / 2.0 Auto (Also know as Tiborun in some country)
I will collect my car on 26/20/2000, need to know from 2001 Elantra buyer what is your milege on the Odometer when you first collected your car?? I am quite concern that break-In process has been jeopardize by those reckless drivers at the port when the car first arrived.
To share with you people, the Elantra 2001 I get will be 1.6L /107BHP Manual with Pioneer CD-Player, Six Spokes 15" Alloy Rims, Leather Seats, 6 cups holder, 3years 10,000KM Warranty, Car Mat, Auto windows all round with baby lock feature, sunglass compartment with illuminated lights(both passenger and driver side). The rear seat also comes with arm rest.
Did anyone actually buy a 2001 Elantra?
Would you post your price and where you live?
I can not get a good deal from my local dealers.
I live in pa.
Thanks
That is a deal $250 under invoice. Very nice.
I live in Western Pennsylvania. My local dealers
offer a price $1,200 more than yours. Going to
test drive one tomorrow and bug with them
face to face.
Thanks.
from the invoice. Vow!
Did you trade in a car? Is there any incentive
to dealer? There is $500 on Accent.
If I got a deal like yours, I will certainly
strike the steel when it is hot.

I think the host did a good job. You can join his community, check information about Elantra or post your purchase price there for comparison.

Just test drove a 2001 Elantra in the morning.
In my opinion, it is much better looking than
the 2000 model. And, it is less noisy.
The dealer offered me a ridiculous price and
he does not want to drop from that.
It is an automatic car with package 2, cargo
net and California Emission. $14,000
I will try other dealers.
Hope that helps....
We just recently bought a 2001 elantra. I love it. But i would love any care since i'm 16. But i did my research on it. Gas milage and the price and this was the best one. I'm glad that down here in texas they were sold out of 2000 models so we had to get a 2001 and i don't want to have to deal with those problems you all seem to have with it. But anyways. I love it. It has great pick up compared to our 98 dodge neon. We got it for 13,700. I suspected they could go lower though. I think that "they are losing money on these car" thing is a lie and a gimmick. We were told they wouldn't go below 14,100 and when we walked out they gave it to us at that price. It took us 4 hours and i wouldn't buy my car from that dealer again but i'm glad we got it. Ok the car has package 3 i think. the cd player, cruise, and keyless entre. It is an automatic. We also got free floor mats. So don't think they are giving you a fare price. Try to get a price u think is fare. But do your research.
I though 13,700 is fare compared to the invoice. But i was mad because they had a 2001 automatic and nothing else extra for 10,700. and i wanted that one or they gave me the car for 10,700 plus the extra. but i couldn't get. well i try to get back to yall when i hit 1,000 miles. we are at 500 or 600.
I'm sorry to get your hopes up. But when we presented the first salesman with the ad and he search and checked on the computer. He said that they didn't have that cars stock number on the dealership and that it didn't exist in the computer. He said that cars stay in the computer system for up to a month after they are sold. So it had to be bought a month earlier when they didn't even have 2001s or its was false advertisement. We got the car 2 weeks ago. Also if you really need to know we went to Randell Reed Ford megastore in Humble,TX. its north of houston. I wouldn't recommended it. unless u have a add because they won't go down on the sticker price. The only reason we got ours a 1,000 off the sticker is because we had that "bogus" ad. Well i have to go. i hope that helps u or any1 at all
I agree with u wanted to get a color u like. I plan on having this car till i'm out of college and starting a career so that mean for 7 or 8 yrs from now. So i'm doing my praying.
I just got finished watching 20/20 about how the dealership gets there moneyback or more money during the loan. That is why they tried to do us the way they did. The price was at $14,100 when we went into financing and when the salesman put the thing we couldn't get the prices under $300 so he went to his boss and they lowered it #13,700. Well we lucky, we had a loan to fall back on so we told him that we want the car 13,700 and they could fax it over to the bank where we had the loan because they couldn't beat the interest rate.
He told we couldn't because they would lose there money and his commission from the interest rate. and He got quiet right quick. So we walked out. And the sale people came running after us saying that we could do that but they wanted us to go and see if they could beat our loan interest rate. Well we got tired and told them we were leaving. so we singed everything and the next work day they told us that we have to use our bank... it saved us close to 1,000 dollars. So shop around not only for your car but for your loan.
