Seeing as how people have had success with the Katana, I was ready to buy it. Took a look at the Fusic (I have Sprint service) and realized it did not cost much more for a lot more features. However, I have not seen any success stories here. Bluetoothguy mentioned it should work, but I'd like a little more assurance of full functionality before I lay out the money. So, anyone have anything to add to the comment that it should work? Or do I play it safe with the Katana? Getting delivery of my Camry next week so I'm eager to buy! Thanks all.

The LG Fusic should work fine. The only things that don't work are the signal strength on the display and the battery level display (navigation system only). Also, this phone is only able to transfer one phonebook contact at a time. This will only be a hinderance with the navigation system handsfree. The Katana supports all of these features.

The VX8100 should be ok. This phone does not support sending phonebook contacts over bluetooth, so all entry will have to be done manually. Also, this phone has a bug where you will not be able to reject an incoming call using the vehicle controls. The resolution of this problem is you must either reject the call using the phone's keypad or wait for the call to be transferred to your voicemail. You will hear ringing in the meantime.

I recently picked up an LG vx5300 and am unsure how or if this will work with the Bluetooth set up in the new Camry and if it requires a headset. Any help?

    Thanks

I think that you will be happy with your new phone with your Camry. Setup should be fairly simple and the phonebook transfer should also work well. If you need specific details with any process, let me know.

I got my RAZR paired and working for outgoing calls, but when someone calls me, I can't make it connect. I hit the off-hook and talk buttons and nothing happens. Am I overlooking something? We tried it several times, and nothing happens. Of course, I can't answer the phone then either, because it says that I have to use the connecting device to respond (since the Bluetooth is enabled).
    Thanks in advance.

I was thinking about buying the new camry but am not sure about the bluetooth function. Is it possible to have the car dial the number by just saying a number when I hit the talk button without that number being stored in the cars phonebook? I mean if the number is not in the cars phonebook can the car still dial the number when I hit the talk button and say the number? Will the car recognize a new number that is not stored in its phonebook.I posed this same question in the woes section and they referred me here. Can anyone please help?

I have not seen this issue. Do you see the caller ID on the radio display and hear ringing through the car speakers?

Which handsfree system do you have (Navigation / JBL)?
Which Carrier do you have (Alltel / Verizon)?
  • Options
    bluetoothguybluetoothguy Member Posts: 89
That is correct. When you press the talk switch, you can say either "Dial by Number" or "Dial by Name". The "Dial by Number" will allow you to simply say a phone number you wish to dial ("1-800-555-1212"). This is open to any number you want to dial. The "Dial by Name" function will dial numbers that you have previously stored to the handsfree system. This is stored either by voice, manual entry, or sending directly from the phone over bluetooth.

Motorola v165 with T-Mobile: no problem pairing or placing a call, but nearly constant ghost ringing while sitting parked in my garagae at home (not roaming, strong signal). So I tried driving around, ghost ringing persisted. I unplugged my radar detector (Escort Passport 7500S): problem solved.

Strange that these 3 devices would interfere with each other.

The Sony Ericsson phones are known to have connection issues with the Camry handsfree systems, but I have not heard much about only having one-way audio. What phone model is it? My recommendation is to try another phone to see if the problem persists. If so, there is something wrong with your car's handsfree. If not, then try re-pairing the Sony Ericsson phone. If that doesn't solve the problem, it might be time for a new phone.

That is very strange. Was the phone charging at the time it was ringing?

I am considered the new Verizon phone, Nokia 6315i. I would like to use it with my Camry handsfree Bluetooth system. Does anyone have any experience with this phone in the 2007 Camry?
    Thanks for any comments.

Can anyone help me? I'm able to send and receive calls fine. I can't get the navigation system to give me the choice to not answer the call. It always answers on the first ring. I went into the bluetooth and phone settings, then screen and told it to not answer automatically. It ignores the setting and still answers it.
    Thanks.

My mistake. I've used this radar detector very little, and it turns out I was not getting 'ghost ringing' but rather the cell phone (Motorola v195) was setting off a radar detector false alarm each time it got anywhere close to the radar detector. The radar detector chirping sounded almost like cell-phone ringing to me. The car bluetooth system was not involved at all. Sorry for the misinformation.

    Hi,

I'm new to this forum and probably missed this answer, but, Is there a complete up to date list of phone models that are compatable with the 07 Camry available? and not the one on Toyotas web site.

If you go to: http://toyota.letstalk.com and select your model Camry from the drop downs, you will be provided with a full list of compatible phones as well as any known issues with them.

There is an 'auto-answer' feature on the phone as well as the car. You might want to make sure both are disabled.

I have an 07 Camry SE V6 Model w/ the JBL/BT Stereo Upgrade. I purchased this vehicle on 09/14/2006.

I have had my Verizon Treo 700p Paired up & working wonderfully. The BT Indicator on the Stereo was always visible & had at least 2 Bars. I know thats neither here no there, but bottom line, it was always visible. Previously, I had occasionally used a Moto H500 BT Headset. I just wasn't all that into the whole BT thing till it was integrated into the Toyota that I purchased. I was thinking that I will be using this all the time, since the Speakers in the car would take the place of a headset.

I had never lost my Pairing once- up till 10/07/2006. Till then, it was working better than I had hoped for while I was driving. I made a call that morning on my Treo & everything went well.

I baby my phone and it has NEVER been dropped, but ever since that call I made on 10/07/2006, I have NO BT Indicator, & the phone is no longer paired. I have followed the instructions to a T & have gone thru the re-pairing process multiple times. On my Treo, it goes thru the whole process of pairing just fine, & My Car is showing as a trusted device, & I am even asked to input the passkey that my car is generating.

After all this, still no BT indicator on the Stereo, & NO Pairing is acheived.

Does anyone have any knowledge on this issue, or a fix??? I could live w/out this feature, but it was too convenient to use now that it's not working. I'd appreciate any advice you could give. Thanks!!! :confuse:

The bluetooth speakerphone sounds great on my end, but people on the other end of the conversation report a pretty bad echo. Does anyone know if the microphone in the Camry can be upgraded/replaced?

    Thanks -

I am curious about this too - people on the other end can't hear me well. I would like to pull the mic out of the overhead console and run it closer to my head. This might be sort of ugly though...

    babyrocketbabyrocket Member Posts: 54
No - does that make a difference? I have a Treo 650 (Verizon).

    bluetoothguybluetoothguy Member Posts: 89
It might (especially with the Treos). I believe the Treo devices are known to have issues with Bluetooth.

It is just a suggestion before any attempts to dismantle your car.

I have a Motorola Silver Razr with Cingular service. Have had new Camry a few days and just hooked up to Bluetooth. You can hear conversations clearly inside the car, but I have receieved calls from my wife calling from the car and I too pick up an echo or delay in her transmission. It is almost like having a headcold and listening to someone speak loudly to you. Where is the microphone in the car? Any suggestions? Also, do you have to have the phone connected to the 12 volt plug to use it? My plug where the phone should go is at an angle and the charger plug sticks out of the compartment so far I can't close the lid.

I have the Cingular 8125. My wife doesn't like talking to me when I am in the car (even if I am stopped at a light, and turn off the climate control fan).

The microphone is in the overhead console where the Homelink transmitter and sunglass holder are. I will be taking mine apart soon to try to suppress a rattle from that area, so I will look at the microphone and its orientation.

I purchased my Camry XLE with JBL last April and have had problems with the echo/delay (as well as other problems) with the bluetooth. I was using it with a Cingular Razr. I was told that there is an issue with the Cingular Network overall and how it works with the Camry's bluetooth (I don't completely understand this). So, I have since switched to Verizon and am using an LG VX8300. Low and behold, the echo has disappeared. People who previously refused to talk to me while I was on my Bluetooth, were suprised to hear that I was actually on it! So it may not be the microphone, it might be your Cell provider.

When I am connected and talking via Bluetooth over the car's speakers/microphone, and wish to continue the conversation in privacy without other people in the car listening, is there an easy way to turn off the car's Bluetooth connection and use my cell phone instead (by holding it to my ear)?

    Thanks,

seeing as I haven't received any responses yet either here or @ Toyota Nation, I figured that I would try to see if my BT Icon would re-appear on my Stereo.

I borrowed my Wife's Verizon LG VX8100 & went through the motions of pairing. This phone paired up fine & the missing BT Indicator was now present. I did this twice w/ the 8100 & both times worked like a charm.

I then tried again w/ the 700p, & nothing. Really odd!!!

I had checked the Toyota Bluetooth Phone web-page that is floating around both forums several times. I had initially printed out the page showing that the Verizon Treo 700p was supported on my 07 Camry. Nowadays, the Treo 700p doesn't show as a supported phone anymore.

I guess my question now is do I just chalk up this whole issue to me trying to pair up a non-supported phone to my Stereo BT System, and leave it at that??? or does this sound like maybe my 700p and/or my Stereo in the Camry is flaky???

Any advice would be appreciated, as I know that the 700p was successfully paired & full-functional up till the date listed in the original post.

    Thanks!!! :confuse:

I recommend contacting Palm regarding this issue. If the car works well with other phones, it leads me to believe it is an issue with Palm. Chances are, Toyota recognized this issue and removed the Palm devices from their site.

I took my overhead console apart, and the mic looks pretty much proprietary. I am starting to wonder if it is my phone (or Cingular). There are three wires connected to it, and they plug into a harness inside the overhead. It is a rectangular block that can be snapped out of its mount, but the wires are short, so it doesn't seem easy to extend it closer to me. I thought about removing the screen in front of it, but decided it probably wouldn't help(you can see this black fabric material when you look through the slits in the overhead console with a flashlight).

I think the problem that I end up with isn't so much echo, but that the person on the other end can't hear me very well at all.

We just purchased a 2007 camry hybrid with navigation. I have not been able to find any information on how to register voice tags. I was happy to see your post and thought I could now register voice tags for voice dial by name and do speed dials.
However, in following your steps my screen does not have "voice Rec" or a voice recognition:off screen. Where do I find this on the phone book screen? Thank you.

I just got a Motorola E815 to go with my Camry 2007 XLE, non-Nav system. One thing I haven't mastered yet: storing an out-of-my-aread-code number on the Camry system that Alltel will accept. Specifically, I live in 480, but work in 602. When I try to store my work phone as 6021234567 (fake example), I get the "we cannot call your number as dialed" msg from Alltel. I tried a "+" (pause) and a "1" in front of the number and that doesn't work either. I have used By Voice as well as Manual Input. Am I missing something?

    Thanks in advance,
    Rob from AZ

Okay...I figured it out. It's not the area code -- it's the special characters I was also sending. The Camry system does not send pauses or #'s properly. All of the 602 numbers I was sending had at least one "+" (pause) or "#" at the end and apparently when Camry sends these to Alltel it makes the whole number look like garbage -- Alltel won't even try to dial. In other words, I can store and send 6021234567 successfully but not 6021234567++ or 6021234567#++11.

Does anyone know a workaround for this?

    Thanks,

    Rob

Hi, I'm new to this forum, but I just read all the messages in this thread and didn't find any reference to the Nokia 6682.

Being in Canada, I may confront different issues, but, I have a TCH on order, should be here in a couple of weeks and I am due for a new phone.

Does anyone out ther have any experience with the TCH/6682, according to the Toyota website, they are compatible, but I'm not sure about transferring the phone book etc.

    Any insight is greatly appreciated.

    Two suggestions:
    1. while the call is active, you can press the Voice Recognition button and speak the tones you would like to send.

    2. store the tones you would like to send to one of the six preset speed-dial buttons on the radio. While you are in a call, you can press this preset button to send those tones.

Other than that, you might be out of luck.

    bluetoothguybluetoothguy Member Posts: 89
The 6682 should not be too bad with the TCH (especially if you have the navigation system). Transferring phonebook contacts should work and basic calling functions should be ok. The signal indicators (Roaming and Signal Strength) are not supported by that phone.

I am not sure if this direct link will work for you, but it can be accessed through Toyota.LetsTalk.com. On this page, you can also download a PDF quick guide that will give you some compatibility information and instructions for using that phone.

Thank you BTG, I don't have the Nav. In fact I don't think it's available in Canada (??) I did compare it with the SLVR and it seemed to be a little more compatible.

The big question I have is whether or not Rogers cripple any of the functions that Nokia have built in, so I have the question put out to the Rogers rep. If they do, then I may get the 6682 directly from Nokia and buy the SIM card from Rogers.
Unfortunately if i go that way, then I pay another $200...I'll let you know when it all happens, hopefully by the middle of November.

Haven't seen any reference to the just out Motorola i580 (Nextel). Does anyone know if I could use this successfully with my new Camry Hybrid? I like the rugged nature of the bluetooth phone. Is it just boneheadish to try? It looks like phones either work well or don't. I'd appreciate your help.

All..I have just ordered a Samsung A640 from Sprint, and wonder if anyone here has this phone, and can provide their comments as to Bluetooth compatability with the 2007 Camry Hybrid. The Toyota website doesn't specifically show the A640 as compatable, but Sprint tells me it is. Thanks!

    bluetoothguybluetoothguy Member Posts: 89
The A640 should be ok for the basic functionality. It does not support sending multiple contacts at once. If you purchase it and run into some issues, it might require some software updates.

When you enter in the phonebook information for name/number, you need to scroll to a second page where you can then record a voice tag. It's easy to miss the second page.
