I haven't been able to find a "BMW 3-Series Lease Questions" topic in this forum. Is there one? That's why I had posted a lease question in this topic, as I thought it was the closest match.
They missed my price by 1k. Oh well. Probably better. I don't need an M3. In theory it's only a 20-30 dollar a month difference (really I'd just pay the difference) but you have to draw a line somewhere. And if they still have that car next month or at the end of January, they may come crawling back...
Going to the dealer (Prestige BMW in Ramsey, nj) tomorrow...what would be a good deal? 328xi automatic, cold weather pkg., ipod, power front seats (jet black, leatherette) MSRP 39320 Invoice 36,190 Paid price: 37,240 (dealer said it's 500 over the "real" invoice-BMW's) but 1100 over Edmunds *This includeds 825 destination charge MF .00175 residual 60% 584 per month plus MV fee (268.50)at signing. ALL other fees rolled into monthly payment.including security deposit. I get a lower price on my lease calculator...2 other dealers (Park and Circle) said same monthly payment and fees~ Other questions: Anyone know what are all the fees for this car in NJ? Is the 825 Dest used for calculating the price or should it be added later? Should i negotiate it down to 625-real cost? What are the taxes? THANKS in advance for anyone who will help me My lease is up next week!

I would shop around. Talk to another dealer and see if they can beat this price. BMW is doing pretty good becasue of their promotional rate, but still, they want your business. I assumed destination charge would be included in the price anyways regardless of where you end up.
If they stick to the price, talk them into adding accessories for free to the tune of where you want the price to be..
BMW 328xi 2009 Premium pkg cold weather pkg automatic ipod
MSRP 42,500 Selling price" 39,978.29 Res 60% MF .002 (not .00175 because I rolled security deposit into my monthly payments) 588.19 per month + MV fee at signing 268.50 (all other fees, etc rolled into monthly payments) I signed a contract?? (or is it just an order) for the car today (not the final lease). No $ given to the dealer. Getting car in week. Can I cancel if not a good deal? (1 day to cancel? 3 days??) Thanks!
Evrything I read said to roll it into monthly payments. But I did the math and the difference with .00175 money factor is $2.14 less, and 600 / 36= 16.66 so that adds to 18.80 more per month and at the end of 36 months...36 x 18.80 = $677! that I don't get back. So, why do they say to roll it in?
If they were actually "rolling the deposit" into the payments, then the money factor wouldn't change.. You would just have a higher payment because of capitalizing that amount.
If they are waiving the security deposit, then the bump in the money factor is .00015, not .00025... So, your money factor would be .0019, assuming they aren't bumping it up for extra profit.
As noted above, the waiver isn't a very good deal, especially on a 36 month lease.. Make the security deposit, then insist on the base money factor.
You can also either pay the acquisition fee, roll it in (i.e.: capitalize it), or waive it in exchange for a bump in the money factor of .00035 (usually a bad idea). I always capitalize the fee.
Randyjstark. How did you manage to get them to agree to give you back the MSD (money security deposits) even in the case of a total loss? From my understanding, the security deposits are forfeited when you get into an accident. You can have a minor fender bender and they will still use that to take your security deposits.
I am planning to buy 330xi with premium, sport, cold packages, over all it is fully loaded. it has 30000 miles on it. 18 months of original factory warranty is left. it is CPO(Certified pre-owned),
Edmunds and Kbb shows around $31,000.
Can any one suggest me the final negotiation price on this.

You knocked over $8 grand (close to $9 grand) off the sticker and ask "how did I do?" That's damn impressive. Like blueguydotcom said, the only bad part of the deal is the car is an Automatic :P
No Sales Tax in Oregon? Sounds like a nice place.

Any idea what kind of price they're doing for 08 335 right now? Trying to find an 07 CPO, but thought with the financing difference, might work out to get a new 08 335 with lower interest rate. Any idea how much they're willing to come off the 2008s?
Red is a good color, or you can get black or silver and be like the other 64% of BMW owners. 33% of 2008 BMWs were silver and 31% of 2008 BMWs were black according to BMW. So be unique and get red.
Would really appreciate some help on this. Looking to lease a 2009 328i - 36 months. 10k per month. features - premium package, ipod, 17' vspoke wheels. MSRP - 41050.
Now I was willing to pay upto 3000 cash down (cap reduction). Using (7+1) MSRDs to reduce my MF the dealer is quoting me $337+tax. With all the fees (bank fees - 725, doc fees-249, registration-262) to be paid upfront.
Now is this a good deal?
Also I can get a 2008 335i with same features for $320+tax (again all the fees paid upfront). Which one should I go for ? and please tell me if this is a good lease or not. Thanks
As of today's there's supposedly $1500 trunk money on the 2009 and 2008 3 series cars. You can get that payment even lower - the car should have a cap cost 1k below invoice. Doc fees are outrageous. $50-100 is okay but $250!
Thanks for the reply. I agree the doc fees were very high. Is there a spreadsheet or a way I can calculate the monthly lease myself.
Also assuming everything else being same what would you go for: 2008 335i or 2009 328i (i can get the 2008 335i probably $15-$20 cheaper).
Finally what is the difference between the invoice and the MSRP price? Is it a fixed number in the range of $2700? I heard about that 1500 discount as well. Does it come off the purchase price ? Thanks
The 328 v 335 debate is for you to determine. I'm not terribly impressed by the 335i but I do like some of the standard equipment (xenons for instance). But the extra weight of the 335i makes me less responsive to it - mind you I've only driven automatic versions.
Invoice and MSRP varies. For 2008s there's an automatic transmission credit and the rebate, so you should be able to get an auto-equipped 3 series for about 6k below msrp.
This is before the new 1500 credit. So if you're into an auto equipped 335i, you can get the auto credit of 1260 and 1500 rebate with a 0.00085 money factor. It's 0.00075 with 08 328is.
edmunds TMV works fine for 08s and last I checked is a tad off for 09s. Still with a 335 if you're getting a cap that's about 6k below MSRP you're fine. On a 328, it's more like 5500.
Many thanks for the prompt reply and the links. I spent some time figuring those out and this is what i am aiming for :
2008 335i sedan: MSRP (44650) Total Discount: 7000 Cap cost: 37650 Cash Down: 0 Residual value: 60% (36 month lease with 10k miles) MF factor: 0.00085 Reduced MF factor: 0.00040 (due to 8 MSDs I will make) which I think is the lowest possible Sales tax: 7%
Monthly Payment: $377 per month incld tax (this is what i calculated) Upfront payment: 8MSD of 400 (3200) + 725 (bank fees) + 100( doc fees) + 250 (registration) = $4275.
This is all my calculation. Please tell me if this is a good deal or not? Is there anything I am missing here?
I plan to close it tomorrow!! Many thanks in advance. Deep
let me get this straight, you're thinking of leasing a 41,050 bmw for 337/mo with 3000 down? what is meant by using (7+1) MSRDs? Also where is this dealor, ours here in dutchess county ny give hardly any discount. it sounds like a good deal to me. thanks jofma
There's 2760 in trunk money on 2008s. 2008s are going for invoice - minus discounts. You offer a dealer $2500 below invoice on a 2008 in so cal and he'll take it.
You don't have to buy your car in dutchess county. There are plenty of dealers in Westchester, CT, Rockland (Wide World of Cars), Orange (Orange County BMW)... That would be willing to earn your business.

More like asking prices... My family and I attended a small car show at a local community college where dealerships from the area bring cars. The BMW dealer had an E92 M3 Coupe, Black/Black with an MSRP of $75,000! 10 years ago an E36 M3 could be had with an MSRP in the low $40K range!

I just purchased a 2007 328i Montego Blue/Black interior with Navigation, Premium package and 23,000 miles (CPO also) for $24,991 (looks just like new inside and out). Seems almost too good to be true. Makes me think they are desperate to sell this car. Carfax checks out great but there were a lot of service visits (13 during 2 years) during the lease for unspecified reasons. Did I make a mistake? I do have warranty for another 75K + yrs. Any thoughts?
This is the deal I got on a 2009 335i Coupe for 3 years with 12k miles per year: Blue Water / Beige Premium, Sport, Automatic, Satellite Radio, iPod Adapter, Smartphone Integration, Steering wheel with paddle shifters.
When configured on edmunds: Edmunds MSRP: $50,345 Edmunds Invoice: $46,360
However, Edmunds base prices have $200 extra on them that wasn't on my sticker.
At this point I put 5 security deposits, 1 of them required to get the original .00205, and the other 4 reducing the money factor down to: 4 x .00007 = .00028 New money factor: .00205 - .00028 = .00177
Final Monthly Payment: 557.83 + 36.26 = 594.09
Out of Pocket:
$1150 down payment 5 x 600 refundable security deposits = $3000 First Monthly Payment: 594.09 License Fees: 28.06 Sales Use/ Tax: 12.71 Sales Tax on $1000 cap reduc: 172.25 Florida Fees: 66.50 Tag Agency: 129.00
Total Out of Pocket 2152.61 + 3000 refundable = $5152.61
This was in South Florida. After the crazy negotiations between 4 dealerships (pitting them all against eachother), I got a deal that I'm very happy with. I hope this helps someone get a great deal.
I've been reading this forum for a while, and can honestly say that it's saved me, or will save me some cash. So to all who's post have helped, thanks!
Anyway to my question. I was getting ready to close on a used 2008 from the dealer when it was hit by the porter damaging, front quarter, and door. Nothing major, but still an accident. Since the chances of me buying the car when I'm done are minimal, I just look at this as a possibility of a lower cost. Anyone have any experience with this? For something that's maybe a 3k repair, how much should I ask them to knock off the price?
the 335's with sport packages and even with the step, are hardly in the realm of boring automobiles. i got a 2008 last fall with the sport package and paddle shifters, the step was free, probably still is on left over '08's which there are still a few thanks to a recession and in the north east, folks think they need awd. if you are looking to grab a bargain off a dealer lot which i was, versus ordering, dealer lots have mostly automatics.
Well it figures. I negotiated a deal and Tuesday I simply couldn't get to the dealer. Same last night (kid emergency). Today I called to set it all up - they sold it.
I was looking at a lease of $580 a month with just acq, 3 security deposits (refunded at end of the lease - but I figured I'd buy the car then) and that didn't include my BMWCCA Rebate.
Bummer. How many people get M3s for less than $600 a month.
Dealer's trying to entice me with a leftover loaded 328i. Not quite the same.

what was your offer?
After driving a 335i (with auto) this weekend, I really can't understand how BMW sells any 335is with automatics. Egad what a boring car.
Couldn't agree more. If I ran the world, there would be no such thing as a 3-series BMW with a slushbox. It's a crime against nature.
