If you've read about my tribulations on the LS board, you'll know that I am now VERY careful when dealing with anyone associated with car sales. Bring a calculator and write down any numbers thrown at you (you'll notice the salesman always takes away all his paperwork when he goes to talk to his manager).
I visited one other dealer before buying and the case was pretty much the same. At least here in Northern California, Lexus dealers are discounting 05 LS's very heavily. Good luck in your search!
By the way, I truly believe you will get the best quotes in person, not via email.
Has anyone tried this offer or have an opinion if it is worth the money?
Thanks,

In my search Ohio and Chicago seemed to have the best deals in the mid-west...
If you have radar or Laser cruse control ...Find a Auto Glass shop that has lexan 1/8 in is fine and have it installed over your cruse control unit...Doesn't affect performance and will save you $2000 when that rock finds it's way in there...
NOTE...I had it done for about $30 bucks...
There is a trim peice that fits around the unit (My car is an 01 yours may be different) it pulls out... The Glass guy then cut a piece about 6". by 6" and used double sided tape attached to the frame that housed the unit....He Worked his way to the unit from the middle right under the bumper to get an easy access...LEXAN is very strong and will keep that unit safe from rocks
That's good stuff, and if your headlights are glass, it'll save you $500.
In a update, I told the dealer I was not interested in the service and he immediately reduced the price to $817. I told him I thought the price was still to high for the value received and have not heard from him. As suggested I will wax the car more often.
Thanks again, a happy LS owner.
Also, I've seen some mention of the December to Remember sale. How good are the deals in December? Is it smarter to buy the 06 in December to get the best of both worlds, or does that not make up the difference of the end of the model year discount?
Any suggestions aprreciated.
Check with your states licensing dept and they can tell you how they do it.
I just gave a deposit on LS430 2006 in NJ . MSRP with Modern Lux,smart key,18in alloy wheels and mats was $64500. Dealer wanted to sell it for $60000. I also had a 2004 Nissan Quest for which he wanted to give me $19500. After I made my intention clear about giving a deposit now if the deal gets better. He called the manager. Long story short he sold me the car for $56700 and gave me $22900 for the trade-in. My car should be coming by end of aug. Its black /black.
Is it a good deal? Also I read on some forums that the HP for 06 is 278 as compared to 290 for 05. I am kind of confuse whether I should buy 06 or renegotiate an 05.
Hope it helps.
Buy the 2006, despite the horsepower number being lower on the 2006, it's got the same horsepower as the 2005 model. Carmakers are moving to a new SAE standard to rate horsepower, that's all.
Is this a good deal or should I stick to 06.
I guarantee the 07 WILL make you jealous.

Have you discovered the tiny sun visor over the rear view mirror...It was a Year before I discovered mine...(thanks to someone on this board mentioning it.)
Started poking around and found a storage bin under front passenger seat. I gotta read that manual.
Started poking around and found a storage bin under front passenger seat. I gotta read that manual.
Well, the sun visor over the rear view mirror is not in the manual --- I knew about it thanks to this forum.
What is also not in the manual are the little I-don't-know-what-you-call-it things that keep stuff from falling down between the front seats and the console. No more lost pens, slips of paper, or renegade french fries. Thank you, Toyota/Lexus.
That manual is really thick but worth a read. Too many bells & whistles for us to figure out without it. Sometimes the translations from Japanese are funny.

I was looking at the same car in Austin, but the sales person was not very pleasant to work with. He acted like it was a chore for him get the key and let me look inside the car. It turned out the battery in the car was dead. Maybe he knew that.
He acted kind of snooty and did not make me feel very welcome even though I was the only person in the showroom. I Made them an offer on the car and they would not even make a counter offer. I almost bought the car there so I could slam them on the survey. Austin needs another Lexus dealership. The Guy in Ft Worth said he gets a lot of business form people from Austin with similar stories.
Unfortunately Lexus has over they years tried to copy the Germans in their selling strategy, in suttle ways....You did the right thing in my opinion Tony
I know there are not many post here but here goes...
I am thinking of getting a Lexus LS430. 05 model, with modern luxury package. It appears I can get an "at invoice" deal. (54,706).
How do I know what a "true" residiual value is on this car if I lease it? I am considering a 36 month 15,000 mile a year lease.
Thanks,
Joe

Lexus is so good especially the LS430 that if you get a low milage one it is hard to see how you could go wrong....These are not Mercedes with all kinds of electrical problems...The are the best made cars in the world....
P.S. one thing to think about is the 30,000 mile service is Pricy...Probably rear brakes (they turn the drums if you need it or not) tires, Transmission Oil change, Many go to synthetic oil at that time (if you do bring your own. save a few bucks)
The only potentual problem is if it has been in a wreck or underwater in N.O.
OR YOU COULD BUY ONE FROM A DEALER WITH A BUMPER TO BUMPER AND GET A 3 YEAR LEXUS CERTIFIED CAR..

We shopped around and got the best quote on our 2005Ls with Nav system etc. from Lexus of Tulsa they actually brought the car to us in Hot Springs Ar on a flat bed truck, had 1 mile on it. Price 56,000. and yes they let us put $5,000 on our frequent flyer CC. Great people to deal with.
