    Hello,

I am looking for deals on CRV LX and EX in the Greater Boston and Southern Maine area. Please let me know if you come-across/find any as such. Is it wise to buy CRV LX with all safety features involved or it's better to go directly with the EX model which seems to have all the safety features in it. Also would like to know your suggestions on the Honda sensing feature and how much cost it adds onto.

    Thank you!

I received a quote for EXL 2wd version 27,950. Dealer says will beat my lowest by $500. My lowest is 27,023. IS this even possible? Negotiating price to get best lease deal. Should we just jump on this deal?

The TMV average price paid for a random (AZ) zip is $27,165. More like $27,400 for my NM zip.

So your quote is just average. $25,600 would be a good deal - that's $2,000 below invoice and is doable in some parts of the country. Kind of depends on your area and the inventory in your area.

Oh ok its $2000 below invoice is the target to aim for. Thought it was $2,000 MSRP. Ok more work to do. NY area is showing TMV $27,243.

Just bought 2016 CR-V EX-L AWD in Wisconsin.
    1. Selling price: $27,100
    2. Dealer fee: $195
    3. DMV fee: $99
    4. Honda Care 7yr/80K $100ded policy: $745

Had 2 other offers at $27,077 and $26,900. One pulled their offer on Saturday from me. Other one wanted more for Honda Care.

Same advice as that for @deckartt - kind of a pain to skim through them but those posts by @brian125 are golden, especially for the best dealers in your area. I keep forgetting to bookmark the gems. :'(

Congrats @rpm2008! This calls for a round of brats! Do they still put woks on BBQs up there? Always made for easy potlucks the few months we lived in Madison back in '84 and had people over.

    Bought a 2016 CR-V EX-L AWD in Maine.

    Sales price- 26,930
OTD- 28,747 (those monsters charged a $599 admin fee!)
  • steverstever Guest Posts: 52,454
    Congrats!

Thanks for the quick Congrats! How does that price look to you, Stever?

Invoice is $28,819 and TMV for a Double L zip is $28,271.

So $2,000 below invoice, a great price for a "smaller" market.

The poor dealer would have been forced to eat "poverty lobster" all winter except for the profit they made on the doc fee. :)

@soursticks Sport Honda in Silver Spring Good luck! Their inventory is getting pretty low in the EX AWD.

Great price.  The lowest I've been able to push down is at 26,800 OTD.  They did say they were throwing splash guards, pinstriping, and cargo tray. This was in Baltimore. I am also trading in 2009 crv.

    Hi everybody,
Can someone help to tell me how to solve this issue please.
I got CRV EX FWD yesterday from a dealer in CA. They told me there were some water spots in the hood. I got the car late in the evening so didn't see the issue until this morning under the sun. I saw many mini scratches on the hood. Is there a damage when doing a wax on the car paint? Does the scratches go away later? what can I ask the dealer to handle this?
Can Honda step in to help me at this case? or what is a best way to handle this. Please help. Thanks.

    Fyi, OTD 25,999 (base 23,387 + fee (654) + tax (2229)
fee (doc 80, electronic registration 29, vehicle license fee 153, registration/transfer/tittling fee 111, ca tire 8.75, office fee 272)

Contact the dealership asap. They care about the survey so they should try to help you if it's as simple as polishing / detailing that portion for you.

As for the price, I think you overpaid by about $900 depending on what options you got. Take a look

Hi Everyone. We are looking at a 2016 Honda crv touring 2wd/FWD model. Quoted 28,990 which looks like this broken down. Inv 31138.50 minus HB 638.00, minus factory 750.00, 750.00 (couldn't read desc. of this discount) = 28990 with included 250 for accessories.
Doc fee 80.00 govt fee 328.75, taxes 2487.02 (8.5%), Zurich or Total aftmrkt 189.00
    So out the door 32,074.77
    Original msrp 32825.00.
    Sacramento region 95816
Anything else we can ask for? sales guy seemed like that is his final deal. nothing more than extra 250 towards accessories.
  • steverstever Guest Posts: 52,454
What's the Zurich? Paint protection or warranty?

The True Market Value average price paid is $30,032. That's with the $900 destination but no fees or whatnot.

So your selling price is $1,000 below TMV (and $2,100 below invoice).

Looking good from here. Your salesperson is probably tired of getting yelled at going to the "tower" for another $200 bucks off. :)

    Enjoy!

Hi everyone,I received a quote for 2016 CRV EXL AWD, sale price $26570 (include the 900 destination charge), doc fee 299, oh tax 1880, license fee 90, so the OTD price is $28839, l am in Cincinnati oh, is this a good price?

    Thanks
  • steverstever Guest Posts: 52,454
    Hi @xinxin_gn, welcome.

Invoice is $28,819, including destination. TMV is a couple of hundred dollars less.

So your are doing well, about $2,200 below invoice.

Maybe @kyfdx can fill me in but I thought doc fees were capped in Ohio at $250.

    Enjoy the new ride!

    Hi @stever and @kyfdx,
Thanks for your help. I did ended up purchasing the CRV EX AWD from a Cincinnati dealer (had to take a day trip but much cheaper than ones in Columbus).

    Detailed pricing as follows:
    Purchase price: 24103.96
    Tax: 1734.43
    Doc fee: 250
    Title/ Registration/ other: 48.50
    OTD: $25900

I did saw that a few posts back a dealer was offering 7yr/ 80k miles extended warranty for around $900. The dealer I bought from was trying to sell me the same package for over $2000. Glad I do all my research and declined it soon after their financial guy tried to push it. I couldn't understand how dealers can sell manufacturer extended warranty for different pricing.

Also, I'm very thankful for knowing this forum. I feel like we are making the dealer earn reasonable amount out of us (reasonable or not is of course subjective). Sure, dealers sell cars for living, but when a dealer can earn 2x profit out of one customer compared to the other, then I call it rip off. I wish the car pricing can be more transparent like many other things and make purchasing easier.

Hi @5morehp, I am looking for a better price for a CRV EXL, could you tell me which cincinnati dealership you went?  Thanks
  • scottc3scottc3 Member Posts: 137
I could use a little quick advise. I've been out driving SUV's the last weeks, and I've driven most of them. I find the Pilot a bit too large for my wife and I, although I'd love to have one - but the 2016 CRV is a good size, better gas mileage, has enough storage, .... so today I got a quote on a 2016 CRV EXL-with Nav. I know the 2017's will be out in the next months, and I could wait, but don't want to pass up a deal on a 2016 if it's decent.

    Vehicle price: $32,145
    Savings: $2816
    Actual Price: $29,329
Clear Nose Mask: $399 (this has got to be a rip off!)
    Window tint: no charge
    Vehicle selling price: $29728
    Tax: $2599.52
    Tag/Registration: $27.20 (Colorado)
    Dealer Handling fee: $499
    Balance due: $32,853.72

I ask the dealer, if I pay cash today, can I get it for $32,000 out the door - and he nodded "yes" but would not totally commit - so maybe $32,100 or so, but I'd hold firm at $32K out the door.

I hope the knowledgeable people in the forum that 'know' a good deal can respond and share your knowledge with me.

    Thanks
    Scott

I will be checking back often to see comments.

I dunno Scott, I've been following your posts for a few weeks now and feel like I should be asking you for buying advice.

Invoice on that one is $30,223 and TMV is $29,580 (Denver zip).

So, selling price of $29,400, throw in tax of around $2,600 and you're at $32,000.

My gut wonders if you can go lower since that selling price number is "only" about $800 below invoice. Or maybe I'm missing something....
  • steverstever Guest Posts: 52,454
Oh, if that clear mask is a good brand, like 3M, they really aren't cheap.

Hey Steve, thanks for the comments. I suppose I'd like to shoot for $1500 lower than invoice but not sure that will happen. The other question is when do the 2017 models come out and will there be better deals near the end of the year? Hope others can chime in as the night goes on but I know your knowledge is good in this forum. Sc

Only issue with waiting is that the inventory will shrink. But you knew that. Sometimes the leftover prices get stuck at year end, not sure why unless there's some bonus money dealers get and they lose their motivation to blow the last ones out. Happened to my sister and she still bit and paid too much for a leftover Subaru. :)

    Anyone?

Is this a good price for a NEW 2016 Honda CRV LX AWD (Silver) in Philly area... ?

I got the following quote from a dealer near Philly area..

    Sale Price 23,094
    Doc fee 135
    Taxes 1385
    License and fees 160
    --------------------------------
    Total cash price 24,775 OTD

    and no extras...

Please let me know if this is a good price to pay ?
  • steverstever Guest Posts: 52,454
Hi @mar_radnus. Invoice is $24,420, so your quote is about $1,300 below invoice.

The TMV average price paid is $23,654. So looking at the average, your quote is okay - not as good as some, but not too shabby either. And the doc fee is okay.

If you have time and energy, you may want to shop the quote around and see if you can get closer to $24,000 OTD.

When I look at inventory around Philadelphia, I see over 200 LX's in stock.

Keep us posted on how it goes, and good luck!

Dealer fee is high in Florida. It is $699 but I aimed for $25,000 OTD or as close as I could get for the EX FWD. I ended up with a selling price of $23,000 plus fees and tax.
  • steverstever Guest Posts: 52,454
Florida residents will be interested in what Earl Stewart has to say about doc fees there.
  • twinty6twinty6 Member Posts: 14
Stever, I read that article. The selling price of $23K is about $2,400 below factory invoice but with the dealer fee is is probably $2,000 below. I just saw some posts with $200 dealer fees. I tried to compare the OTD deals but seems most of the recent posts are for AWD and EX L.
  • steverstever Guest Posts: 52,454
Interesting - guess FWD sells better there. No idea why the EX-L has more aggressive prices, maybe they build a bunch of them.

And yeah, negotiating OTD is the easier way to keep your blood pressure under control when shopping, both for doc fees and dealer add-on packages.

Hi @stever & @brian125 - shopping for my parents this weekend in Richmond, VA.
    Any good dealerships you recommend?
  • scottc3scottc3 Member Posts: 137
Dealer just called, 8pm at night! $32k OTD, EXL with Nav, AWD. I have looked at some YouTube videos showing the Nav does not work right. Not sure I like the satellite Nav. I noticed today, test driving, the Nav did not show many street names. Went to get the dealer tech guy - he had no idea. I'd check YouTube for the Honda satellite defective Nav system before you buy - just to make sure you are an informed buyer. I'm going to go sit in the CRV TOMORROW AND PLAY WITH THE COMPLETE SYSTEM, before I buy.
