Infiniti is sold. We will not speak its name again.
Re: Chronic Car Buyers Anonymous (Archived)
Speaking of deletes and credits, I only got one full key FOB for the N and then the laser cut key insert for the second FOB, but not the FOB itself. There is a recall for the second FOB and it will be sent to me in Q1.I'd totally send them a $350 bill for the missing fob.

Based on the standard Wagoneer, we requested a Series 1 4x4 in River Rock with Sea Salt guts and all 4 main packages (Convenience, Premium, RES, and Towing). MSRP in standard W guise is $75.5k. If the W is consistent with the $2k difference between GC and GCL, then I figure $77.5k-$78k MSRP. That would put us very close to $70k after the discount. Doesn't seem too bad. If we have a Sprinter by then and she'd rather keep that, then no harm done. If we have the Sprinter and she wants to swap, then we'll do that. Would probably make out very well on the Sprinter and drive down the net cost of the WL.

A newlywed couple moves into their new house.
One day the husband comes home from work and his wife says, "Honey, you know, in the upstairs bathroom one of the pipes is leaking, could you fix it?"
The husband says, "What do I look like, Mr. Plumber?"
A few days go by, and he comes home from work and his wife says, "Honey, the car won't start. I think it needs a new battery. Could you change it for me?"
He says: "What do I look like, Mr. Goodwrench?"
Another few days go by, and it's raining pretty hard.
The wife finds a leak in the roof.
She says, "Honey, there's a leak on the roof! Can you please fix it?"
He says, "What do I look like, Bob Vila?"
The next day the husband comes home, and the roof is fixed.
So is the plumbing. So is the car.
He asks his wife what happened. "Oh, I had a handyman come in and fix them," she says. "Great! How much is that going to cost me?" he snarls.
Wife says: "Nothing. He said he'd do it for free if I either baked him a cake or slept with him." "Uh, well, what kind of cake did you make?" asks the husband.
"What do I look like," she says, "Betty Crocker?"
Re: Chronic Car Buyers Anonymous (Archived)
————————————————@28firefighter - a number of years ago my wife’s friend had an early - mid 2000 GTI. She loved the car, but after a number of years it was developing problems. Nickel ($500) & diming ($1,000) her. I finally convinced her to go car shopping. I convinced her to lease. She found a Tiguan. She found the color, the best price, I helped her negotiate a trade for her GTI…. She balked. Loved the GTI. Loved driving stick…. I told her - Ana. Dump the car before something else happens and you start cursing it. Finally she decided to pull the trigger. The car threw a CEL on the way to the dealer to trade it in.
And she probably blamed you for not being more forceful.
That’s why when someone asks for my opinion about anything I only say it once. And I tell them I’m only going to say it once. Then I never say another word. That’s almost always worked for me.

It’s a code for a valve timing control solenoid. Could be a sensor. Could be the beginnings of an oil leak.Looks like a cheap and easy fix even if you replace both sensors and gaskets. Easy to get to on front - both sides of motor. Some clean the solenoids initially.
So I took the sensors out and cleaned them this morning and the code hasn’t come back. But I’m still not comfortable selling this to someone without disclosing what’s going on.
These cars can have an oil valley gasket leak because of a cheap paper gasket at the back of the block that can trigger this code - it’s cheap parts but lots of labor. This could be that and maybe it isn’t - I want someone to have eyes wide open buying.
Given that I’m likely selling privately, I am willing to take the loss on it if it means I sleep at night…
