For those keeping score at home, I thought that perhaps @breld's purchase of two vehicles in a single week's time was unusual, but the Google doc appears to show two other instances of him making two punches in a single week, as well as two instances of two punches in a single day.We don’t call him the king for nothing!!

Quick pic of the interior of the Mini - really nice gray leather in contrast to the mostly plain black interiors in the minis. That went a long way in sealing the deal.

Re: Chronic Car Buyers Anonymous (Archived)
So wife and I went up to Greeley, about an hour north of where we live, to check out the red GTI and were pretty much set on buying it.
After test driving it, we told them we were gonna go check out a Mini at a nearby dealership but would probably be back.
Well, we never made it back.

Will wonders never cease?
Re: Chronic Car Buyers Anonymous (Archived)
Well....

I have it running! And, I managed to make it through the initial shakedown run (sorry, Q!). I even drove it to work this morning.

Re: Chronic Car Buyers Anonymous (Archived)
Well. It wouldn’t be a week if there wasn’t a punch pending. Barring any surprises from the deal negotiated or logistics, I’ll be picking this up this weekend…fresh off the truck.
Re: Chronic Car Buyers Anonymous (Archived)
Breld never looks back. He’s the guy in cannonball run ripping the mirror off. What’s behind is not important.Uh, it was the Gumball Rally where that occurred.

But, there are updates ... big updates. I'll leave them to @breld to discuss.

Reminder of where I was a couple weeks ago:

After cleanup and removal of the water pump and oil filter assembly from the front of the engine:

Then installation of the new adapter plate / oil cooler unit:

Followed by the EGR cooler and intake manifold. Oh, my, goodness! The intake manifold was so nasty inside (combination of carbon (soot) and oil is freakishly gnarly). I looked like a dalmatian when I came inside after cleaning it up as best I could. My wife wouldn't even let me wash the clothes I was wearing (literally - I had to throw them out).

I reinstalled a fuel line and the oil cooler assembly after this as well. I mostly just have the final bit of the air intake, a bunch of wires and hoses, and a new oil dipstick to install now. Along with refilling and burping the coolant (important step to not forget!).
