The best tire/deal was at Discount Tire. 245/45-19 102W XL. Bridgestone Driveguard.
$1284 installed. plus sales tax. Made an appointment, and done in 50 minutes.
Our new car dealer, which is surprisingly competitive on OEM tires, wanted $1560+tax to replace the Pirellis that were on it (but, I didn't love those tires)

We did a few things this weekend to prep for winter…got the winter tires put on both Mercedes. With the staggered set up on the GLC, it was pretty much impossible to find snow tires to fit on the OEM wheels, so I had found a set of 19” GLC wheels on eBay that turned out to work pretty well.
The next owner this winter will appreciate you going through the effort

Got the Q5 a bit dirty on the way to a hiking trail today. Took a back road which turned out to be a few miles of gravel (on top of the National Forest road to the trail, which is also gravel). Perfect weather, though.

I'm still trembling a little.

hit a mileage milestone this weekend. at 9.5 months old, the Maverick rolled over 5,000 miles. most of it running back and forth to NY from NJ when moving. Going on slower now, mostly running around on weekends, sharing that duty with the Acura. Not too many miles in that many months. We just got back from a quick high mile trip with our truck and Airstream from VT to Albuquerque, NM back to Troy, NY and then home up to VT. 5225 miles in 25 days. We had reservations since January at the Balloon Fiesta and had planned to stay out west for another couple of weeks exploring some National Parks. But, first grand-baby is on the way and that changed our plans
Speaking of that car, it clicked over 17.000 miles this weekend. 2 years, 7 months old.
interestingly they are averaging almost exactly (6,300-6,400) annual miles so far. Obviously we don't drive that much (and for 15 months the Acura was an only car). and now with fewer road trips might not break 10K between them.

So, we basically drove the interstates all the way and did a few high mile days to keep on schedule. We saw lots of corn and soy being harvested pretty much from Oklahoma through MO, IL, IN, OH and back through NY.

Quick 400 mile R/T, this weekend. One observation: Multiple Ford Fusions being driven by jerks. Tailgating, weaving in and out of traffic, insistent on driving 90 mph.. I don't think I've ever noticed a Fusion on the road, in the last few years, but at least 8 of them with a death wish, in the last two days.Sorry, a Fusion is all Enterprise had available to rent.
Really weird.
