Oddly, I never once saw a person, but twice we saw the mangled carnage of the vehicle, and once the person was able to drive all the way through our field, opened the gate (and left it open), and drove away.I should be used to it by now. We’ve had a motorcycle fly off the turn and land in the driveway. We’ve had a kid transporting for a car dealer take down a half dozen trees adjacent to the current ones when they were all a lot smaller (I had finally gotten around to planting some shrubs in the gap the week before this happened). I’ve lost count of the mailboxes knocked down or cars that slid off the road.
I’m just getting too old for this stuff. Maybe I should build tank traps by the road. 🤣
And if someone gets hurt on those pointed pyramids you’ll be sued and lose your house and hoopties. Better not.

As a driving enthusiast, I also have always liked Mazdas through the years. I never technically owned one, but while we were dating, my then girlfriend (now wife) bought a 2000 Protégé ES. Besides the Miata which I grew to love over the years. I really dig the style of the current ND Miata. The MX6 was always cool as was the Speed3, the Speed6. To this day the RX7 is still drop dead gorgeous in my eyes. I even liked the last Mazda 6 they had.

You didn't name one good thing anf you can't think that the person that caused damage to oldfarmer50's property would care about any of those legal issues you detailed.
You can't get blood from a stone is an appropriate expression.

I've never been a fan of Previa's since this happened to us.Ouch. But, I would have much rather been in the Expedition than the Previa in that crash!

It had to be an E28. I don't think the 533i ever applied to any other 5-series modelWhen I was a senior in HS in 1982, my then GF's dad drove a 533i. I always thought it was an E28, but now I'm not sure. His was a stick shift, that I do remember, and he used to tow his three-quarter midget racer behind it. Took it to Ascot raceway in Gardena a couple of times.also, in my neighborhood a black BMW I have seen parked in the back was out on a driveway. 1980s I think (maybe early 90s) 533i with the center exhaust. Back when they were moderate sized and cleanly styled! Not positive, but I think the generation prior to the original M5In the US the E28 was sold from 1983-1988. Models offered were the 528e, 533i, 535i, 535is, 524td and the M5.
edit: did a google. was an E28, offered in the 1983 and 1984 MYs, and also was the first model range that had an M5.

it could have been worse. They could have decided they needed a replacement vehicle from the nearest opportunity.
