Re: Chronic Car Buyers Anonymous
@benjaminh - those GM C- and H-bodies were very smooth and quiet. Several family members owned them when I was a kid, and I loved riding in them. Some of them were gadget heavy—my grandparents’ Park Avenues had many-way adjustable power seats, power trunk lid pull down, and electronic climate control my late grandfather referred to as “my computer.” The quality wasn’t great, though.

Pics for attention.

I don’t know why you’re backing off now especially since you don’t plan to go back. Therefore, this is the perfect time to slam them. That tactic sounds like a classic bate-and-switch maneuver since a lot of cars today take more than 5 quarts. I’m sure other customers would like to know how this dealer operates.jmonroe
You’re right, I have zero need to make them like me, so I might do that. Never underestimate the power of a nudge!

Re: Chronic Car Buyers Anonymous
Yes, I would discount the opinion of the hanging judge in this case.
I share your outrage but usually uninsured deadbeats have no assets worth chasing. I’ve mentioned two cases personally where that would be futile. One fled the state before I could enforce the judgement, the other might flee the country. Frustrating, I know but some people are just judgement proof.

I mean this idiot was driving a '94 Camaro. Young guys with 30 year-old beaters seldom are sitting on big piles of cash or much in the way of attachable assets. Peeling out of an intersection and immediately losing traction on bald tires is further testimony not only to his poor judgement but also to the probability of his lack of assets.
A few years ago I was waiting in a stationary toll booth lane when my car was jostled by something from the rear. Some bozo in a pickup truck in the adjacent lane decided he wanted the space I was occupying and ran into me in a similar spot. In truth his face was likely buried in his damn phone. It was almost $3000 in worthless Canadian dollars for much less damage. Awful feeling when your car is pristine and that happens.

If it had happened in KY I would have taken your case to court for free. I HATE, HATE, HATE those uninsured scumbags. If I had been in your shoes I'd likely be in jail charged with Assault 1st.
Sigh. Uninsured driver. Of course.
But it would have been worth it.
edit: If it had been the Club Sport I'd be in Jail for murder.
And it still would have been worth it.

Didn’t work but after some googling found a a couple of alternate methods to try. Will work on that later.
Funny. When I went to google about the window on the RDX & maintenance light on the Q5, it suggested I start shopping for a new car. Maybe AI is smarter than we think.
@sda - that’s annoying. Especially since the VW & Audi share a variation of the same engine.

You could hang meat in my 2006 BMW..

————————————————You'd prefer a different sort of government? Like what, exactly?————————————————You don't understand due process? The Bill of Rights? We noticed the past week or so that the guy who usually directs traffic into the parking lot at baseball games wasn't there. After nosing around a little I found out that a guy wanted to park in the VIP surface lot, but it was full. The attendant told him he would have to go to the parking garage.————————————————
Evidently this guy insisted on going into the full lot and ran into the attendant. Not once, but twice, knocking him down. All this in front of many witnesses.
Then the moron drove a short distance to the driveway that is always closed and blocked off on game day and tried to get in that way. That's where the police found him.
After admitting he drove into the attendant he asked the cops if they could hurry things along so he wouldn't miss the start of the game.
The attendant's dad told me the guy extended his hearing because he didn't have enough time to prepare his defense.
I’ll never understand why our legal system extends rights to low-life’s like that.
jmonroe
Probably not.
That guy more than likely has as many bills as he has rights. Only in America. What a country.
jmonroe
I never said I wanted a different government. I like the one we have and have lived with it longer than most in here. What I’d like to see is more rights for the victim. The perps have been given too many easy ways out.
As for the case in point here, someone without insurance makes life miserable for the people whose cars they hit. Our system has to crack down on those without insurance and make their life at least as miserable as the ones who play by the rules.
