Re: Edmunds Members - Cars and Conversations
Back in the days when I actually moved, and moved myself, with the help of U-Haul and friends, the most dreaded piece was the convertible sofa. Seriously heavy, it had to be tied down so that it didn't extend itself in the elevator. Yeah, ask me how I know.TVs are not that heavy. They can be carried. Try getting a fridge down steps with a turn like that.
Good? times.

I have a huge ceiling in my βgarageβ - I park my G90 in my parking space in the great outdoors.π€ͺπ
Re: Edmunds Members - Cars and Conversations
thanks. one thing I can guarantee if I do get one, is that I will not be attempting to install it myself!@stickguy said:
Speaking of garages with tall ceilings (I think the side of mine without a drop must be at least 18β) I saw a pop up for one of these and got to thinking. Might solve my space issue! Need to get out the tape measure and some painters tape to mark it out, but with high ceilings and the 18β wide door, could work without getting in the way! https://automotiveequipmentspecialists.com/bendpak-hd-9-9-000-lb-capacity-standard-width-car-lift/?_vsrefdom=adwords&gad_source=1&gbraid=0AAAAADesmBQRaol_7fyM1R02ThvHRCrFT&gclid=Cj0KCQiAs5i8BhDmARIsAGE4xHzS1IkCWlCuDtvyoNrBEychtrEewuIyGR0-vgC38ul-LF58nkKM97YaAtMCEALw_wcBHere is the place I bought mine:

Oil changes, for what you "might" save, better to take it to the guy.ββββββββββββββββSpeaking of garages with tall ceilings (I think the side of mine without a drop must be at least 18β) I saw a pop up for one of these and got to thinking. Yeah, why not? Great way to do your own oil changes, but you gotta keep good oil change documentation. And, at this time of the year a great way to spray the salt off of the underside of the car. You only need a hose and a hooded rain coat to do that. Both of those could be a good side gig when you retire,

Wash salt off the underside of the car....best to go to the guy at the car wash, better than making a mess of your garage.

ββββββββββββββββ-Even in an earthquake scenario, if the BendPak is installed correctly, I'd fully expect the garage to come down before the lift does. The people at the end of the block has one of those. Never talked to him about it but he does have a rather pricey vehicles above and below it so he must trust it.
Although I keep expecting to see a car sandwich there sometime.
Yeah, but either one of those scenarios ainβt good. Kinda like pick your poison.

I agree. However, it seems as though @graphicguy bought the cheap unbendable model.

Re: Edmunds Members - Cars and Conversations
ββββββββββββββββThey're delivering it this afternoon. It's tricky to get a large TV down the stairs to my Home Theater room as there are two sets of stairs with a sharp turn between the two. Not that it's particularly heavy. Just awkward the way it turns with a relatively low ceiling.Me three. Bought our TV and a couple of appliances from them. Theyβve been great. It helps they are only a mile from our place.@kyfdx said:
@graphicguy How much? What size?I've had pretty good luck with Best Buy, over the years
Me, too. Iβve purchased two 55β smart TVβs from them over the past 8 years and have had zero problems. They have salespeople, for the most part, that are pretty astute at knowing their products - especially smart TVβs.
But, got the last one down there. So, it's doable.
Best Buy went through a period there that they just weren't very competitive. Seems they're fixing that, or at least trying hard to do so.
I doubt theyβre going to carry it down your steps. I think theyβll slide it down the steps on itβs side then stand it up on itβs end when they get to the landing then slide it down the last few steps on itβs side like they did for the first 6 steps. Then carry it to where you want it set up (maybe even slide it there too). At least thatβs the way Iβd do it. Gravity can be your friend when you think it through.
Easy peasy.
FWIW, if my knees donβt start feeling better, Iβm considering sliding down the steps myself.
