What an about face from a year or so ago. I don't see any mention of the "dungeon". ;-)

    Congrats to all!

I'll have to get extra copies of that from SoA if it's possible.

Ironically I've not received that issue but did receive an "introductory issue" as a "new" owner after buying the XT. It basically had the same innards as the "introducing the new Legacy/Outback" issue with some different, welcoming front and end pieces.

I sent Drive both the photo used and a front 3/4 view in which you can see Paul's face as well as a better view of the car (those are in my Imagestation account). I guess for the sake of anonymity it was best of them to use the one they did. I should've been more thoughtful about that.

Could be, but they might also have thought that this was the more "visually interesting" photo.

Could they have back-filled the dungeon for good? hee hee

Welcome to the flood of new member that will be joining us over the next two weeks or so. :-)

Yes, gotta get back to work, I'm moving offices. Good news is I will now have a window with a partial view to the White House!

Ed's letter went in there, too.

    Good things come in 3s!

I'm impressed! I haven't been posting because the laptop is officially dead. The good news is I'll have a replacement by tomorrow.

Actually - they were keeping the focus of the article away from me from what I heard, but more on Edmunds as a resource. I happen to think it's one of the best for our customers.

Hmmm... seems the Edmunds hamsters have gone backwards in the time/space continuum... I seem to have reverted back to the old username...

    Time for an e-mail...
    Cheers?

Sorry I've been away a lot, we're in the middle of a big move at work. I'm actually Move Coordinator, which means I'm hating life right now.

Move [non-permissible content removed] (Sienfeld reference), is more like it, getting people motivated to pack!

At least I get a window when all is said and done. :-)

Any how, later today I head to the beach to paint the condo, anyone want to come help?

    <crickets chirping>

    Hello?

I'll miss the chat but maybe catch up on Saturday.

Here are a few new thoughts about my new Legacy:

    1. It's like an an Accord with an attitude.
    2. I'm really proud of my home state workers--build quality is so fine.
    3. Homer would say, "MMMMM, Comfort!"
    4. Silver is so slick looking and its the color to have with this model and all the metallic trim inside.
    5. Too early for an ice or snow storm--I really want to try out the wiper and mirror heaters.
Boxer growl on this car is just as cool sounding as the turbo whine on WRX.
    6. New mileage report, city only, coming soon.

The Subaru owner that was formerly known as "TWRX" or "YWRX" but will henceforth be known as "Paleo"

juice, I would help ... but only if you are willing to come up to the NH lakes region, in the peak foliage season, and help paint windows on a ski chalet, conveniently located 5 minutes from a ski area!
  • locke2clocke2c Member Posts: 5,038
Hey, I'd help paint as long as I can hold a be.. um adult beverage in my other hand. :)

My issue arrived in the mail yesterday and I thumbed through their comparison between the A4 1.8 CVT, S40, TSX and Legacy GT. Interesting -- it's almost the same line up as C&D but with auto trannies and all US-spec models.

A few things that caught my attention:
    - The GT was rated very well. In fact, CR felt it handled the best and had the best ride of the group. The two items that CR penalized the GT on were fuel economy and the tendency for lift-throttle oversteer. The later would be a detriment for only your typical FWD driver.
    - CR complained the S40 had cramped rear seats. That was in-line with my observation and contradicts C&D's finding. Is the Euro-spec S40 rear seats bigger?
    - CR commented that the GT offered a very good driving experience comprable to a $40K 330i!

Looks like it's the real me from work, but perhaps still the time warp from home. Didn't get a chance to try it this morning before I left.
Time will tell. Look for one of us (!) at the chat tonight!

I got the replacement laptop (notice I didn't say new). It isn't set up for DSL. Not enough memory? It must be really old like me!!

My daughter is working on a paper on the home PC so I can't use this. Sorry folks!

FYI - I'm almost done the labels for the prizes. You should have them next week.

    See you on the boards!

    Patti
  • paisanpaisan Member Posts: 21,181
Labels? Prizes? hmmm I must have missed something.

  • kenskens Member Posts: 5,869
Patti: Hmmm. Not set up for DSL? Do you run your DSL connection through a router at home? If so, all your laptop would need is a network connection. It shouldn't be a memory issue.

Well, I probably won't be able to make it either so I'll see everyone on the boards too.

My computer doesn't seem to keep them. We had porno problems earlier...a re-direct and realsearcher.com problem kept adding various undesirable sites to our favorites list)snuck on thru AIM which Michael uses to talk to his buddies. After much research and adding Spyblaster, Spybot and Hijack This and killing all the bad stuff, one of those must be preventing cookies from sticking (all in the name of truth, justice, and the American Way!). So I just keep re-logging in. Papa Loosh and Momma Q, mazel tov and best wishes on another little Subie fan..she is quite the stunner...around 13 years older and we could've set her up with Michael!

P.S I can finally take down the rest of the hurricane shutters...yay! Maybe we can use them as voting machines here...as good as anything else....... ;>)

It is well known that I do not know a hell of a lot about computers, and the advice I am about to impart may not be what will help but here goes.

Go to tools on your header bar, then internet options then click on the privacy tab and reset the tolerance for accepting cookies, I leave mine at the medium setting.

If it is set lower than this your computer will not accept a lot of cookies.

      Cheers Pat.

I think Patti had already left, but someone said something about a contest. Is that what is up?

    Steve
  • lucien2lucien2 Member Posts: 2,984
we had a contest 2 weeks ago at the Chat
  • lilbluewgn02lilbluewgn02 Member Posts: 1,089
I had done that already...however, this morning it seems to be back to the normal settings and is now accepting cookies, including soft chewy chocolate chip and oatmeal raisin.

    PS..how is your daughter doing?
  • hondafriekhondafriek Member Posts: 2,984
Thanks for asking, she is going through a rough period at the minute and is pretty depressed.

we go for several weeks when things are good then she gets a reality check as to her limitations and that sends her into a tailspin again. It is an emotional rollercoaster all around. We are going down to see her at Christmas and hopefully she will be a bit more positive by then.
She is checking some options at the minute so she is trying her best with what she has.

      Cheers Pat.

Hi all, a fuel mileage report on my new Legacy. Susan and I drove to Mammoth Cave and then Nashville and home. We drove 400 miles on one tank. According to the fuel mileage computer we did 28.7 mpg. According to my pocket calculator I got one less 27.8. But get this, most of our driving was at 70 mph and how green is the engine? Well I don't even have 900 miles after finishing the trip. Both of my WRXs were able to exceed their EPA estimates by 3 and get 30 mpg but only after they hit 20,000 miles. Getting estimate occured about 3000 miles on each. Got a bit of a breakin ahead of me.

    G'day

Today has been the Bathurst 1000 here. It is always an exciting race and has the best in car coverage of any motor race ever.

As usual, it had its special interest. This year, a kangaroo leapt onto the track, colliding with the Jim Richards car that had been on pole position. They patched the car up but it was not well.

Worth looking for it on your sports pages.

    Cheers

Well just got back from a nice day at the track yesterday. Was testing a set of calipers from racingbrake.com on the legacy. Hopefully we'll be carrying them shortly. It's always a bit scary being the first to run a particular product on a 500 mile road test plus 100+ miles of on-track.

Results of the 4 piston calipers so far...

Weight: 6lbs each v. 11lbs each for Subaru 4-pot Calipers
Size: Smaller pistons than the Subaru 4-pots, only slightly smaller, however they allow for OEM WRX 16" wheels to clear them w/o spacers.
Performance: As good or better than the 4-piston Subaru Calipers I've been running for 15K miles.
Looks: Bling Aluminum and shiny :)
Pricing: Looking to be retail in the $500 range w/o pads (It uses the same pads as the OEM Subaru 4-pot calipers)

More info as events warrant! Should be a nice upgrade for Forester/Legacy/WRX/RS etc.

I am beat but the condo looks great! Took almost 4 full days o' painting, 1 sore juice!

I forgot to offer beer, silly me!

The rough part was the "popcorn" texture on the ceilings, yikes.

Managed about 28 mpg on the trip, still can't match my wife's mileage and the Forester was nearly empty!

Patti: if you have a router set up, you may only need to release and renew your IP address.

If you connect directly to the DSL modem, just run the Self Install CD again.

Why do Americans consider continuous left turns to be the pinnacle of motorsports? I'd rather go to my dentist. Great games this week, loved it.
