I also read on 2 differant posts,t the Transmisstion went a little over 60,00 miles on a 2010?I hope this is not a problem?
Read Below.
Engineer has determined that it is a inherent design flaw of the NEW 2011 SONATA. Now, does this mean that ALL 2011 Sonata's are going to have a similar problem? To be determined ...
Just to know ... to keep this vehicle straight on the highway I have to keep the steering wheel positioned slightly off center (right); otherwise, the vehicle wants/will pull to the left. In addition, the dealership service manager, dealership service tech and the Hyundai Factory Engineer all drove another 2011 Hyundai Sonata from the dealership inventory and confirmed that another vehicle had a similar pull, BUT my vehicle "feels better than the other car." Keep in mind the "other car" is/was worse.
If it's such an obvious issue of not driving straight then it would be pretty hard to miss for anyone driving it but yet hardly a peep from any owners. :confuse:
PS. No car drives perfectly straight but if the new sonata was outside the norm than it would be more prevalent in posts and reviews from those that have driven it IMO.
Congratulations! Hope you enjoy it for a long time.
If the "other car" is worse then both your car and the "other car" need a wheel alignment check/adjust.
Every car company has some issues at one time or another. We do our best to correct them and prevent them once detected. If you'd like to talk about transmissions I can tell you about my Ford Sport-Trak :lemon: that dropped it's transmission at 31k miles or my Nissan truck that the timing chain chewed through the cover at 80k miles with a known engineering defect that they found "acceptable" :lemon: :lemon: (previous to my working for HMMA.)

Most online sources are saying "late 2010" or "early fall 2010" or "fall 2010" but no solid dates. I am not that concerned about the price as Hyundais and KIAs must stay price-competitive anyway, but, when are they actually coming?
I searched around and found a couple of news articles (!) on the date:
Turbocharged-Sonata-will-be-built-in-Montgomery
Hyundai-dealers-converge-on-Capital-City
They basically said that the 2.0T will be out "in 6 months" and it has already gone through a dealer inspection.
I hope someone can add to this. I can't wait to get this engine. By the way, I am from the Great White North.
Sonatas have normal rack and pinion steering, but with electric assist rather than hydraulic assist. Electric assist does have a slightly different feel, if you close your eyes and concentrate real hard.
I have had no problems with my Limited pulling. I have had it up to speeds of 75mph and it was fine. However I do feel it is more responsive than my 2005 Sonata. I like this better.
I have chosen only a 15pc kit. They do make a 34pc kit, but that to me would be to much. If someone can tell me how to post pictures on this site I will. Parts take about a week to come in.
The article is about the company. 9% increase in sales when the industry lost 21% worldwide. UAW pays $28/h plus health in USA, Korean costs are bout $22/h including benefits, Mexican $10/h and China/India $3/h. Hyundai is shifting production of small vehicles to India. Hyundai has labour problems in Korea. Their plants in Korea and the USA use far fewer labour hours /vehicles than other companies. Picture shows 5 cars on the line, 7 robots on each side and 2 humans.
And the $60,000 Equus will be in the dealers soon. They expect to sell hundreds of Sonatas for every Genesis or Equus. I bought the Sonata.

Pat became a member of the Forums in 1997 and was asked to become a host in 1999. Pat was diligent in her role as the Host of Sedans and while some may not always have agreed with her decisions, she always sought to make Sedans an inclusive place for automotive consumers to gain information and support. As a co-worker and friend, she will be greatly missed. At this very sad time for Pat’s family, we extend our deepest sympathy and condolences.
Yes, condolences to her family and all who knew and loved her.
If the alarm is going off without anything accidentally pushing on the smart key button for a couple of seconds, then you need to have it checked out. A simple push on the button is not sufficient to set off the panic alarm, but could be happening in your pocket if something else is pushing for >1-2 seconds.
Waiting for the pics; curious if you still recommend these mudguards at $45 from sharkracing. I'm thinking about getting a set now that i got my car yesterday.
I would get into work and guys coming in after me said my alarm was going off.
Turned out to be the hood switch, not adjusted right. My dealer replaced it, just to be on the safe side. Just something to keep in mind, if it keeps happening.
I think all car makers are going to electric assist. Does away with squeaky power steering belt/pulley, and PS fluid. Probably lighter and quieter too.
They will help cut down on chipping the bottom panels of your fenders.
Pat was an excellent and fair moderator and I will miss her interaction.
God bless you, Pat.

Tech support suggested I contact dealer to see if new software available or dealer could "ping" the radio. Don't understand this.
Anyone else have this problem? I love the xm radio and plan to renew when my 3 month trial ends. However, if this is a persistent problem, maybe I will not renew.
Any help on this would be appreciated.

Glad to find this forum, have read a good bit and decided to join.
Got harbor grey, which am am now quite happy with. Originally wanted silver, but they had a car right off the truck with what I had wanted (popular option package), and it had the "spring event upgraded 17 inch alloy wheel pkg" for another $100 (the dealer said the first they had heard of this promotional option was this car on the truck). Sticker was $21,960 including freight, and I bought it for $20,600 plus TTL in the Dallas area. For the value received, this is a great bargain.
I like just about everything. I think the 17" 55 series tires help it track/ride better, and although I believe the Kumho tires to be a bit soft-sided and wiggly, I am likely to to keep this car for 10-15 years, and this 215/55-17 size seems to be widely available and a good compromise. Seems to me that the bigger wheel looks better than the 16 alloy in proportion to the wheel opening. It is also a nicely styled wheel to complement the body.
Only complaint so far is the horn sounds like some toy.
I got 28 and 30 mpg on the first (partial) fill-ups - my work commute is about 50 miles round trip on the George Bush Tollway and US-75 at 75 or 80 mph, with some congested spots depending on time of day. This is what I had hoped for, and I think it may improve after a few thousand miles of break-in.
I'm a big Honda fan, 79, 83, 85 Accord, 91 Acura Integra, and 97 Prelude, all of which had manual transmissions. I test drove the 2010 Accord coupe and sedan, but even the driving experience favored this change.
The Sonata represents a change to a bigger, cushier car with more emphasis on comfort. I wanted to be ready for $4 gasoline, too. The Prelude was a fantastic driver, and it was giving me 25 mpg on premium. The Sonata is (so far) just what I wanted - I am in new car bliss at the moment, it had been more than 12 years with the Prelude.
I had done a lot of research. Thought I might post a compendium of what I read on the net, mostly before the purchase, just to remove all doubts about the switch to a new brand. If you are thinking about this car, read these. Overall, the car press is nearly unanimous that the Sonata is a "buy". Even the criticism is mixed with praise.
There are some "long-term" articles about the 2006-7 Sonata. I had considered those cars, drove a couple of rentals and found them to be fine, but with blah styling, and a (bad) choice between a pretty strong V6 with poor mileage, or a pretty wimpy I4.
So, I now believe the Sonata to be improved all around, with reliability, safety, performance, and economy in tune with what I desire for the next decade or so.

I've been one since 2004 and plan to keep my trouble free car for 10 yrs till 2014.
And that's saying something as I never kept a car for that long before. And I've had planty.
I have to give you an "A" for doing your homework and research... I like that....lol
Yeah we might as well get the best MPG car we want to get if we're keeping it for 10yrs. That's why I bought a 4 banger for trips 6 yrs ago.
As a matter of fact I just got done reading an article about the "Imminent Crash of the Oil supply" starting in 2011. Not a good time to get a pick-up trk....lol

Motor Week will do a Sonata test drive on the Speed channel next Sat the 8th. I believe it comes on at 6am Dallas time.
Motor Week episode 2935 will air today (Sat 5/1) at 3:30 on KERA. Will record it. They liked it - this is apparently a transcript:

Another poster showed how to post pix.
Let us know what wood kit you purchased... and post pix!
To post photos go to http://www.imageshack.us, upload the photos you want, and then copy/paste the links it gives you into the forum.
You can find them at:" B & I interior dash kits". I am not handy, so I am having a auto trim shop put it in. There are other places on the web were you can buy them.
Google:" Interior dash kits ", or wood grain dash kits.
They are charging me $300 for kit and installed. Make sure you get a kit that uses 3M. My kit is a 15 pc.,you can get as many as 34pc. I think that would be to much.
If someone could tell me how to post pictures on this sit I will when it gets done. Should be done in about 10 days. It going to take about 7 days to get the kit.
I love my camel Leather interior with my Black Plum car , I just don't like all that black inside.
