The numbers you peg on that Jag...if that is 'across the block', what bump up should I be willing to pay for a certified one at retail (comes with the 100k warranty)? If you peg that example at $35 at auction, $47+ is waaayyyy too much of difference.
Bill: I like the site, but you need some pics, ala the texas mustang sales site (a really good one).
That's a real # that's for sure. But let's go to the extreme --- They dropped, $36 in it at trade time, certified it for let's say $750..(Bill would know the exact amount)..The service dept had a field day with it..for let's say $600, Dent wizard came out and did 1 car ..and charged for 3 $250(l.o.l) - Pro deatail..$175, pack$700, and a partridge in a peartree $300.--
So, if this guy went right off the deep end..he's got $39 in it..$42, would be ALL the money ..and then some.
Ps.. maybe we can get a group discount on the Lasik.
Terry.
I know you have it priced right... the best way to view a retail sale is .. "get what you can upfront, and fight for the rest" -- You "may" have to take $26..maybe $25,900. But, on the overall you have it right, don't forget to put in the paper -must sell- ..(the blue book figures are nut's, nobody looks at that)
As always, good Luck...
Terry.
Terry/Bill Please suggest....
80 klicks..huh..? No hill for a climber..LOT's of miles left and the miles are about right for the year.
If it's Super nice..and Super clean -- this vehicle could do in the $8's..
Good Luck..
Terry.
Ok, it's a DX .... with a what ...? Did I read this right ...? Does that say automatic ..?
Holy cow, thats amazing -- $1,000 ad. -- Plus it has breeze, does the breeze work..?
I think I will buy this one... it's worth $100 dollars ..American money.
Ok, you wouldn't go for that ..huh..?
All right, let's try $2,500.. that's if it runs great, there is no rust..no repaint, and the tires are halfway Ok..
Terry.
99 LE 19 klicks, with a slider...and the 2 tone.. sounds like a real nice vehicle .. this would do around the $11's at the block..so you are Ok.
Terry. --- if the $14,5 doesn't work, maybe try $13,950.
Thinking of trading the '00 Mazda MPV LX (Emerald Green, Touring package, FourSeasons package, rear a/c, fogs, CD changer...basically loaded w/o a sunroof) w/ 21k miles in for a 2002 Mazda MPV ES when they finally arrive Stateside. What is a realistic trade-in for the 2000? I'm figuring this will be about break-even on the loan...
thx.

value in the first few yrs. They seem to be
safe, quality cars.
Terry.
You were pretty close in what I was offerEd from dealers. Carmax was at $4000 minus their fee.
So I decided to sell it myself. I put it on three different Internet sites, as well as the paper. No calls from the paper, but ten days later and lots of calls from all over the country I sold it for $6600, (listed at $6800) to the first appointment that actually showed.
Thanks for your input - it provided the push I needed not to trade it in.
Oy! I KNEW you "settled" on that Maxima! (SLAP) Bad move man! Like we say, buy what you LIKE! Never Settle for a car.
98 BMW 528i: Terry I agree. It could do 19K across the block if its perfect, but I wouldnt pay that for it. Still, if its Silver and nice, it'll do that easily.
98 Volvo S90: A clean one with 50K or so on the clock ought to do about $14-14,500 across the block assuming it isnt Coral Red or something.
00 323iA Sedan: I also think It'll do a solid $24K if not a touch more across the block if its really nice and loaded all up.
00 323i "Baby Soccer Mom Edition" I mean Wagon: I think like $26K or so on that one if its got like 12-15K miles. Both 323i prices seem fair to me.
E-Mail me, but I cant find em with headted seats too easily here..
Bill
A low mile on in FL too. Esp Black/Black. I just bought a 98 Black/Black with 39K on it for $25,500.
Nak, Zeons, Wood/Leather wheel, the roof slid back and forth (And popped up too!).
Got it for a customer tho, but they exist.
Bill
I agree that the car is well worth it.
CarFax is foolish not to use.
Bill
If its an XJ8 with a Supercharger bolted to the top of the engine.
I.E. They are "hitting the pipe" on that one.
Certification? Was $895 cost to dealer back in 2000. I heard it went up to $995.. even so.
$47,000 is freaking nutty.
Bill
Que Color es el Lexus?
If its Burgandy or Blue or Green.. $8K on a push.
Pearl White? Could easily getcha $9K.
Why not have a bodyshop shoot that back bumper for $150 or so, have it ultra-detailed and pop it in the paper for $11,900 or best offer? ANd take $10,500 and run?
Those older GSs still are hot sellers.
Bill
Where you at? How many miles on the one youre looking for?
etc.
$4,500 for a 96 Impreza Sport Outback with 120K on it to $12K for a nice 97 Legacy Outback with low miles.
It ALL depends on the vehicle youre looking at. Real tough to give such a broad generalization.
Bill

For example if I have a trade that is worth $26K and the vehicle I want to purchase is $20K will they low ball me on my trade value more than normal?
Also if I trade in my vehicle that is paid for and I want to lease will they allow me to take the $26K cash if I want?
Thanks for any help you can provide.
happy holidays
Inky
Have a nice Holiday, and thanx for the update.
Terry.
These Corolla's get all the money .. it's a 97 DX with a power pack - and really, 48k.. it has no miles with new shoes..Hmmmm asking $7,500 that's a very fair price, if it's nice-clean and it shows "sharp"..
I could role this to the Auction and get $6,1/$6,3/$6,500 for it..Carfax it, and have it looked at ..start em' up at $6,500 and get a response, sounds like a deal to me...
Terry.
Terry.
Yeah, high $13's..low $14's(maybe)...
Terry.
Quentin
Do you see any nice '00 E430s cross your paths at the auctions? If so, what are they going for?
What do you think of the Bordeaux color on that car (a dark ruby red)
-RB
Yet another car I've got a hankerin' for.
That and an M6.
Terry.
It's "the" right color and the miles are fine. It's got brand new shoes..so if the rest is super, clean and it looks like a 2001 then we are lookin' at a vehicle in the high 11's/$12 range..
Terry.
E430's and the 320's are super vehicles, I have had a few myself.. I really enjoy them.
2000 E430's are doing "around" $40, that's with 17/19/21K and in "like new" condition.
E55's are doing in the low 50's price range
Terry.
I have a nice CLK for sale, for those that might be interested..
What are trade-in values for ruby 94 Nissan Maxima GXE
with 66K miles and white 95 Mercury Villager GS with power
and convenience packge, 80K miles?
Thanks in advance
I'm just so tired of all the silver ones running around.
Quentin
It seems like I do, that and black. I see them all over ...Now, down south, they can be the "kiss of death" -- depending on the vehicle..
Terry.
See living down south, you just don't consider the Dark blue, black, maroons, polo..
I just bought my 1st black vehicle in a loooong time, the CLK is black and so is the TBird. I have it cleaned about twice a week and it's sharp ..
Terry.
Terry.
Then you are probably looking at a $4ish figure ... just remember to start deducting, if it needs a this, and a that, and a blah, blah, blah.
The Villager .. that's a whole different deal .. maybe $3,000 if you are lucky..Sorry.
Terry.
2001 Mazda Protege ES 2.0 with EVERY option (auto., Premium Pkg., cassette/CD) with 20K miles. Black exterior, cracked windshield, and a large scratch on the tip of the hood.
What do you all say? KBB says $10,715.
62,000 miles
Not LS but has:
ABS
Pwr dr lks/windows/mirrors
Pwr driver's seat
AM/FM Cassette
AC/tilt/cruise
Well-maintained, excellent condition, but hey...it's my wife's 6 year old Chevy :-)
KBB and Edmunds say trade-in is about $4,700 but dealer (of course) says that's a bit unrealistic and is offering $3,400.
Dealer is, however, offering a good discount on the new car, and it is a good dealership with a great service department (which is often worth a few hundred bucks on a deal IMHO.)
What say the experts here?
Tom
But, in my stupid, humble opinion .. I think they have given you "all" the money..
Without actually seeing the vehicle, I would have guessed "in and around" $3,000, but if they are doing $3,400 that would tell me it's nice, clean and they stepped up to the pump..
$4,700 is more towards a retail price...
I hope this helps...
Terry.
Well anyway, the miles are a little stiff..and based on what you are telling us, the hood needs to be redone..and of course probably the front fascia and a windshield..
I'm thinkin' ..$9,500/$10,000..
Terry.
