    "Edsel Ford?"

Hmm...didn't realize that's a band, but that's not the one I'm talking about.

But you did use both a make and model, which applies here...

Now someone needs to come up with one that runs on the garbage that it collects.

    Correct on the Sterling.

That collaboration was short lived, maybe lasted 2 or 3 years on the market?

Last time I saw a Sterling was one taken in on trade for $100 about 4 years ago at the Honda dealer I worked at.

Going off on a wrong tangent......... there's a song by Tesla called "Can't Stop", which would make a car called the Tesla Can't Stop, an unlikely name for a car.

It's amazing what you can find with google...... I don't think I've ever heard any songs by Tesla.

    Hint needed.....

    Hint:

  • texasestexases Member Posts: 11,107
Nope, remember it is make and model.
  • bhill2bhill2 Member Posts: 2,596
There's a song titled 'Aurora' from a group called the 'Oldsmobiles'? Must have missed that one.

Hint 2: While the vehicle is obscure, the band sold tens of millions of albums...
  • texasestexases Member Posts: 11,107
Hint 3: "Oldsmobile" is Hint 1
  • texasestexases Member Posts: 11,107
    Last hint: it's a truck
  • texasestexases Member Posts: 11,107
    OK.....here's the answer...

    How does it fly?

Guess you missed that old garbage truck joke growing up - the riddle was "What new hybrid has ten wheels and flies?"

Xwesx, that looks like a 2009 Musca domestica Linnaeus. :shades:

My nameplate has been around for more than 20 years, although I skipped one year.
  • stephen987stephen987 Member Posts: 1,994
Well, if you'd said "more than 50 years" I'd say Corvette, since there were no '83 models.
  • steverstever Guest Posts: 52,454
I'd say the Nissan Quest but it came out in '93 (they skipped the 2003 model).
  • au1994au1994 Member Posts: 3,701
didn't the RX-7 skip a year back in the mid 90's?

I didn't know about the RX7 and the Quest skipping a year.

I knew that the Corvette skipped a year, but as stephen987 said "it didn't say more than 50 years".

-- now I'm wondering how many more models skipped a year?
  • british_roverbritish_rover Member Posts: 8,502
    Plenty of them.

Volvo is skipping a year for the new S60 there will be no 2010 MY one and they might skip one for the next XC90.
  • boomchekboomchek Member Posts: 5,516
Ford Taurus when it was replaced by the 500 and then had its name resurrected? Or did it skip more than 1 year?

  • 210delray210delray Member Posts: 4,721
Little known fact: there was a small run of 2007 Tauruses built (the old style, not the 500-based one) in fall 2006, for fleet sales only. Then the Taurus name was applied to the restyled 2008 500 starting in the spring of 2007. So there was about a 6-month gap in which no Tauruses were built, but the nameplate didn't skip a model year.
  • ateixeiraateixeira Member Posts: 72,587
    There was no 1998 Miata.

NA is 1990-1997, and NB was 1999-2005. NC is 2006+.
  • m6vxm6vx Member Posts: 142
Who would have known there were so many models missing a year?

The one I was thinking of was a domestic, missing a year in the 90s.
  • british_roverbritish_rover Member Posts: 8,502
Audi regularly skips years for its S and RS performance models at least in the US.
  • stephen987stephen987 Member Posts: 1,994
Ford Escort? IIRC there was a missing year ('97?) between redesigns.
  • boomchekboomchek Member Posts: 5,516
    Is this nameplate still around?

Is it a car or truck?

    This truck is still around.

I was the first to break 60 miles per
Some thought themselves faster but in fact none were,
My shape was a bullet, I was lean and mean
And most interesting of all, I didn't need gasoline.

Who Am I? AND How Old Am I this year?

Hmmm, I have no idea. Anything I can think of off the top of ym head had no interruptions.

Yes, electric car--do you know the name of the car (you got the builder right) and the year it broke the 60 mph barrier?
  • stephen987stephen987 Member Posts: 1,994
    Hmm--maybe there wasn't a Dodge Ram in 1993. . .
  • boomchekboomchek Member Posts: 5,516
I checked and there was a Dodge Ram in 1993 but I could be wrong.

Well, I knew they started the new-design '94 very early--my '94 had a July '93 build date IIRC.
  • m6vxm6vx Member Posts: 142
The vehicle I am thinking about didn't have a 1996 model year.

    I got a '97, which was a lot better than the '94 I had......
  • stephen987stephen987 Member Posts: 1,994
    Ford Explorer?
  • m6vxm6vx Member Posts: 142
Wow.... I didn't think this one was that hard.

    Not a Ford.
  • m6vxm6vx Member Posts: 142
    Not GM either.
  • stephen987stephen987 Member Posts: 1,994
Well, any chance it's a Jeep?
  • m6vxm6vx Member Posts: 142
    There's a really good chance that it's a Jeep. ;-)
  • boomchekboomchek Member Posts: 5,516
I get it now, it's the Jeep Wrangler.

The YJ ran from 1987-1995, and was replaced by the TJ in the 1997 model year.
    There was no 1996 Wrangler.
  • Mr_ShiftrightMr_Shiftright Member Posts: 64,481
Car roofs made of wood and canvas
    were then the current thing
But I came along and with styling
that gave car lines some zing.
    My roof is stoutly built
    from Detroit's finest steel
    In sporting my new "hard-top",
I brought all other cars to heel.

Who am I? (year and make of car)
