I bought I30 last year and was considering Maxima and I 30.
Both cars are good and you cannot go wrong with either. I30 comes with better warranty, service, and name.
The cost of I30 was about 2000 dollars more then maxima SE. However cost of insurance for SE (in phoenix, for us) was 200/per six month more then I30.
So in five years I will break even with maxima So we went with Infiniti.
Hope this helps
On 94 - 99 Maximas/Infiniti there is no caster or camber adjustment front or rear. Probably an example of Nissan saving money. So when you pay for a dealer wheel alignment all you really get is a toe adjustment.
After 3 dealer unsuccessful tries to correct a slight right pull on my car (purchased new, never wrecked), I took my 99 to a private mechanic who's computer machine said that the rear wheels were in spec, the right front was in spec, but the left front wheel, even though in factory spec (which is a very wide range) varied from the right tire so much that that was causing the problem of right pull.
How to adjust? His solution which worked, was to grind a very small slot on the strut bolt hole, allowing the needed adjustment. That fixed it.
Car tracks great.
Dealer would not do this and wanted me to put up with the right pull (their thought was: if its inside the spec range you should put up with the pull). He said they are trained not to grind on any car part. Course, if they owned the car they would not put up with the pull for 2 hours, but would fix it quick.
Another person in my office has had the same problem with Ford twin I beam, and Nissan trucks, where the dealer said its "in spec", and it was balanced better/later by an independant.
Be aware of this at dealers.
I am thinking about buying a new i30 but wonder whether It would be a mistake. appreciate any info
I had an I30t Midnight Blue/Biege with nav. and sport package. Now is the good time to buy an I30, most of the people can buy the can between $500 to $1000 below invoice. The new I35 will have a 260 hp versus the 227 hp in I30. I was going to wait for the I35, too. But I figure out when the I35 comes out it is going to sell for MSRP for a while. And now I can get the I30 below invoice.
And in the above link, Nissan said it will offers the I35 in numerous option. I was immediately turn off by that. Numberous option??? Well, the I30 is never a performance car, I don't think I need a 260 hp I35.
Good luck in your decision.
I have taken it back twice and they claim that it's normal. Anyone else with this problem. I can see the front tires are cupped.
Thanks
I went to 2 infiniti dealers today, and both claimed the it's difficult to find an I30t with heated seats here in Southern CA. Both dealers told me that they don't have that option available here because of the warm climate. I wanted to know if this is true.
One of the dealer mentioned that there is a 1000 rebate from manufacture, but they dont' know when it ends, I am wondering if anyone has any ideas? also, during the negotiation, they used that as a discount! But, shouldn't I settled on the final price before even talking about the rebate?
one more question, what is the best infiniti dealership in SoCal from your experiences!
Appreciate any feedbacks,
I believe that there may be $1,000 back from mfg. since this is not a customer rebate the dealer does not have to discuss it at all, but if you are aware that the tissue is $1,000 lower you can factor that in to your negotiations.
I bought mine from Metro Infiniti, my sales name is Fred. He is the fleet manager. He is a very nice guy and he works hard with you. Try to avoid Glendale Infiniti, the sales over there didn't know the products. When I tried to buy mine, I need to show them how to identify which car had nav. or not. I file a complain about acout Glendale Infiniti to Infiniti already.
Good Luck.
When I bought mine, the sale had been honest about the $1000 rebate. He just told me, "We have the $1000 rebate and this is the price". But when I bought mine, it was in May. I don't know about do the rebate carry through June.
However, neither of the two delaers I spoke to here in Georgia, were willing to discuss any discount below the Invoice price.
Infact one dealer said that this $1000 discount applies only to previous Infiniti owners.
Can anyone confirm or disagree with the above? It will be great, if someone who has received this discount can comment on the above.
An early reply is much appreciated.
Just because their is $1,000 coming back from mfg. does not mean that in every part of the country you will be able to buy the car for a huge amount under invoice. For some dealers making less than $1,000 above cost is not worth the time and effort involved. a 3% profit margin just does not pay the bills and if there are enough people in an area still paying a fair price for the vehicle there is no need to give the car away.
Good Luck.
we have cleaned it.
I drove both models, Touring and Standard, and I prefer Standard. I found it pretty quiet and powerful, I guess is going to be good for me.
Can anybody tell me how much will be a fair price for a 35.000miles, 98 I 30(srandard), perf. condition, still in Infiniti warranty? (what I saw, is the dealer after negociation, was almost ready to sell it for $17.500 +tax, but I left).
Thank you, any advice is welcome. RAZTEO
Planning to buy a 01 I30.
I got a quote of $26,995 + $249 (proc fee) + $545 (freight) from rosenthal infiniti at tysons corner in northern virginia.
I30 or I30t- which should i go for. The car is primarily for commute purposes.
BTW, has anyone had any experience with priceline.coms car buying feature.
Would appreciate any kind of advice/ input regarding these aspects.
Thanks
PS
May I ask what is the $249 (processing fee) for? I remembered when I bought mine, I got the car with (selling price+tax+$45 doc fee) and that's it.
Next for: psriniv - your price is in the ballpark, (I got mine for 30K out the door, including tax, plates etc., and that was my final offer) BUT I suspect they are going to come down in price because the I-35 should be out in October and I bet Infiniti will be blowing out the I-30s - so DON'T GET HOT and DEAL HARD w/these guys - you can always WALK out of the dealer and come back another day!!! They will probably follow you to the door and plead w/you to come back and sit down. [Always check prices on Edmunds, CarsDirect.com and others - they are right on]
For cpa4u: I got my survey in 1 week - the phone number for Infiniti Consumer Affairs on my survey is: 1-800-662-6200
to blow out the I30 prices. I suspect that the I30s ordered by the dealers
decreased in amount when the dealers found out about the I35. Why would
they stock up when they know a hotter model is coming? I really believe
that Infiniti will hang tough on the price of the I35 and sell the rest of the
I30s at about the price range they are at now. Then they will be in the same
position as Acura with the 3.2TL vs. the 3.2TLS. IMHO
Upon arriving at the dealership 5 min early for our 9am appointment, Howard was 15 min late, we waited. Once he arrived, being the manager in charge of the day (my own guess), phone calls, other demands kept him busy for another 10 min, we waited, giving him benefits of the doubt, and also we wanted to remain professional and maintaining a good buying experience. Then we were told that his porter will be coming in late, thus will not have the car cleaned and ready for pick up until ~noon. We asked to at least see the car first, and have a test drive to make sure there is no problem with the car. He proceeded to 'find' the car key, or someone to get the car from the lot.
10 min later, we then learned that Beverly Hills Infiniti has 2 different lots where they store their autos, and due to the fact that they have to physically and manually track each car, so there is no way of knowing which lot the car may be at. But it should be no problem of seeing the car because the lots are 2 blocks away from the dealership. Howard drove us to the first lot, it wasn't there, we then proceeded to the second lot, it wasn't there. Then we learned it can be at a third lot across the street from the dealership, thus we drive back to the dealership, walked across the street on our quest to find the car. Third try, no car, THEN, we learned again the car had to be at the remaining 2 lots. We got back into the car, drove over to check out these 2 remaining lots. 4th and 5th try, car is not there! Went back to the dealership, then was told there is one final place that the car can be at, the underground service shop. For the 6th time? we followed Howard, walked around the building down 2 flights of stairs to the underground service, and big surprise, car is NOT there!
Howard sweared they have the car at the dealership, because he's holding on to the key, and also the computer shows the car is in. After an hour and a half of searching, hiking, driving around Beverly hills, waiting, being patient, Howard's only reply was "gentlemen, I don't know what to you tell ya."
Is it just me? Or isn't the job of the fleet manager to KEEP TRACK OF INVENTORY? Knowing how many cars he has, and maybe even knowing where the cars are?
We left the dealership while Howard continues his search! He called back 2 hours later, and told us the car was sold the previous day and is being worked on at the dealership. Thus, the key is there, however the car was in the service shop, which I thought we visited (another lot??) He offers to add spoiler/side sills to another I30t to match our original specs, and claimed he has the car on the lot and agreed to sell at 28K even. It is a very good deal in my opinion, however, with our earlier experience, we decided we did not have enough energy for another treasure hunt.
lex430, sorry to hear about your purchasing experience. maybe just one bad apple. Well, 28k even is a very good deal. Beverly Hills Infiniti and Glendale Infiniti were the only two didn't response to my purchase request when I bought my I30t. I e-mail to Infiniti and complain these dealerships. Infiniti had replied to me and open a customer complain file on this dealership then the dealership call me. This is where I told them, "you guys are too late, I already bought my car."
It's a VERY short article and only one snapshot. From what I can see, the car is a looker. Does anyone else have information regarding the car that they could point me to?
I did compare the I30 to a guy at work who bought a Maxima 20th Anniversary edition. They were virtually the same. The clock is different and his Max didn't have the memory seats. I don't know if that is available on the Max. If you're set on getting this car, I would recommend checking out the Maxima as a less expensive alternative. Just my humble opinion.
The Linclon is a Rear Wheel Drive (not really a bad thing just not as practical here in the Northeast), much smaller inside, and the reliability is not even close to an Infiniti.
I didn't know about the prices. Like I said, I didn't check. Obviously beauty is in the eye of the beholder. I think the styling on the Max is much better than the, IMHO, Plain Jane Infiniti. Again, styling preferences are totally subjective.
I'll leave now as I won't have this car much longer (yippie!). Again, I'm not putting down anybodies decision to purchase this car. If we all liked the same thing we could all be driving around in Yugo's (BLAAAAAHH!!)!
They really follow BMW by making the coupe looking more like a 2 door sedan.

The lowest the temp will register is 65 degrees, and the a/c is not kicking in no matter what I try(in fact, it blows out warm air at that temperature). The previous owner tells me it never went below 65, which I find hard to believe.
He said he didn't care for a/c and never used it.
I've fiddled with the switches and read the manual, and still no a/c. I have a service appt. scheduled in a week, but am I just hitting the wrong button? Or does this sound like I'm in for a major repair job? I know freon (or whatever they use) doesn't last indefinitely. It's getting hot here in New England and I'd appreciate the a/c! Thanks for any advice you can offer.
Hope this helps.
About your sound system, I'll definitely bring to the dealer and have it check. I didn't experience this problem at all. I also bought mine last month.
Good Luck.
What do you guys think?
So, if you try hard enough and w/ a little luck, you can get them to lower the price. Few of the dealers we went to laughed in my face when i mentioned the word "under invoice".
HA! HA!
