I bought the 2001 I-30L because I believe that the I-35 will cost at least 30k for the first 3-4 months. I did see an article in the L.A. Times on the new Maxima(w/260hp). It said that the price for the Maxima will be close to the 2001 model. Anyway, I felt that you couldn't beat the current L.A. deal of getting the Bose home system and $1,000 off for being a previous Infiniti owner.

Have you got your fuel protector installed yet? Just wondering, because the dealer I'm ordering mine from keep saying that I only need to order 2 mount clips. Everyone on Maxima forum says 4 are needed.

The next day after getting my car I set both preset buttons to my favorite seat position. I followed the instructions in the manual and it appeared everything worked. I took my car to get it cleaned up over the weekend and the guy there moved my seat!!!! Major no no in my book, but anyway. I tried last night to use the memory seat buttons to move it back to the "perfect" postion. Neither will work. Anyone had thir problem? I'm doing it just like the book says. Turn the key to just the "on" position and then hold 1 or 2 button for one second. Nothing happens.

I brought my car in yesterday. Apparently, beside that part there is one more part needed. I'll let you know what part is needed.

My memory seats works fine. Bring it to the dealer to check.

I think it's a very good price- an excellent price for the Southeastern region. Although, the prices will continue to drop from now until the 02s come in. However, the I30 at this price is a better value (for me) than waiting for the I35 or anything else in this class. I will plan on buying at that price either this weekend or next when I get to Atlanta. I've been talking to Ken, and he seems like a pretty straight shooter.

Thinking about buying an i30T after reading much posts here and doing my own research on the car. I am wondering if any of you can recommend a good infiniti dealer in the southern CA area, what experiences you've had in good/bad service/sales area?

anyone to stay away from in particular?

    thanks,
  • tgif888tgif888 Member Posts: 351
Try to stay away from Glendale and Beverly Hills Infiniti.

Glendale Infiniti, salesperson is not knowledgeable. The salesperson knows nothing about the car, in fact I need to tell him which car has the nav. or not. This is unbelievable. The sales is not willing to sit down with me to discuss the price. Just tell me to go to other dealers and find the best price and bring it to him. Then I think, "Gee, you want me to do all the work for you."

Beverly Hills Infinit-This dealer never response to my internet request.

I actually filed complaints to Infiniti to these 2 dealers. And Infiniti had open a complaint files on these dealers.

I ended up by buying mine in Metro Infiniti. My salesperson name is Fred. He is the fleet manager. He is very knowledgeable and up front. And he did a very good job on follow up work.

    Good Luck.

Finally I got the dealer invoice here. Actually you will need 3 parts. Here is the breakdown:

    1.) Protector-Filler Tub-17290-2Y000 $13.67
    2.) Protector-Rear Wheel-76749-40U00 $7.47
    3.) Clip-01553-09321 $.81

Items 1 and 2, you only need 1/ea. Item 3 you need 6 of those. I looked at it after the service guy delievered the car. It looks much better. I'll post some pictures tomorrow.

Oh, I also inquire about the screws. The service guy said it only need 2. But you'll need the clips.

A friend of mine bought a Lexus RX300 a month ago. He said they have you bring the car in after a month for a free service and car wash. The next oil change is also free. With Cadillac, you can get an oil change for $30. Anybody ever get service for less then $60 at Infiniti? I've also noticed that the Infiniti dealers almost always try and sell me stuff, like window tinting, micron air filters etc. whenever I try to get just an oil/filter service. Jiffy Lube anybody?

Make sure the Auto/Cancel button is set to the Auto mode for the memory seats to work.
  • cpa4ucpa4u Member Posts: 136
So, the auto/cancel switch would make the memory seats not work? Mine is set to cancel right now. At lunch I'll try that!!
    Thanks
  • tgif888tgif888 Member Posts: 351
My dealer only cahrge $22 for the oil change. What's up with the $60?
  • cpa4ucpa4u Member Posts: 136
Thanks for the parts list. I just faxed it to the parts manager at dealer. What are the 2 screws for? Don't the 6 clips hold the pieces in place?
  • tgif888tgif888 Member Posts: 351
The 2 screws are for the upper part of the fuel line protector. The 6 clips are just need to reinforce the protector.

Thanks for posting the information. For the do-it-yourselfers out there. You can order the parts through any nissan dealer. I have utilized a site on-line www.nissanparts.cc, their prices are the best I have found. I order a bunch of oil filters/air filters since I my other car is a pathfinder and I saved a lot of money over dealer prices. Shipping took about a week for UPS ground.

I plugged in the part numbers and here are the prices:
    1.) Protector-Filler Tub-17290-2Y000 $9.33
    2.) Protector-Rear Wheel-76749-40U00 $5.09
    3.) Clip-01553-09321 $.55

It's interesting to note that the retail prices the web site quoted are lower than the prices charged by the infiniti dealer. I guess another case of Infiniti charging more than a Nissan dealer for the exact same part.
  • cpa4ucpa4u Member Posts: 136
Do you think these are the same exact parts for the I30 as the Maxima? I would think that they are due to the cars being almost identical. If so, my Infiniti dealer is overcharging me for the same parts. Wonder if my local Nissan dealer would install the parts too?
  • mvanhoumvanhou Member Posts: 6
Keep in mind that I do not know if the Maxima part numbers are the same (but I'm sure they are). The numbers that tgif888 posted are NISSAN USA part numbers for the Infiniti i30. Every single part on an Infiniti has a NISSAN USA part # (Even nuts and bolts!). Nissan seems to always re-use part numbers for similar cars aka Maxima & i30. If the part number is different, then the parts really are different for the cars.

Also keep in mind that any Nissan dealer and any Infiniti dealer can order any part they want from NISSAN USA. There is nothing to stop a Nissan dealer from ordering a i30 bumper as long as they have the part number. If the work is not warranty work, Nissan can do whatever you want on your i30. They won't do warranty work because NISSAN USA (the Infiniti division) will not pay them.

I agree, I think it is a good price. I will be unable to visit Troncalli for a couple weeks. If you don't mind, please let me know how you do in your negotiations.

What is the Bose stereo referred to, and is it a regional promo? Thanks.
  • wcdaawcdaa Member Posts: 21
Re: Bose Promotion, according to the Infiniti rep. I spoke with, the promotion is only in California. Buy an I-30 and you get the Bose Acoustic Wave Stereo delivered to your home, by Infiniti. The dealer turns your info. into Infiniti and it is Fed-Ex'd to you. They claim it has a retail value of over $1,000...but I'll bet it can be obtained at a deep discount out there.......
  • wildemanwildeman Member Posts: 7
My current Am Ex statement came with 2 Bose Wave Radio sales promotions... $ 349 for the AM/FM and $499 for AM/FM/CD.

RE: Wood Dashes: ATTN: djrunner & VTGT; sorry it took so long to get back to you, but I only check the "townhall" every couple weeks due to work schedule. RE" wood dash. I contacted the manufacturer in (I think) Culver City, CA. He came out and installed it for me. Its a 3M synthetic product just like the photo in message # 1190. He cleans the dash and then peels the adhesive and applies it (took about 15 minutes). The dealer tries to soak you for $795.00 for this!!!! I will call and ask if he will ship the product to individuals (don't know if he will) and get back to you on this this weekend.

RE: Auto seats. I had a Clifford alarm sytem installed on my '01 I-30 and they had to disconnect my battery -- which disabled my auto seats (even with the cancel switch on). I checked the manual and apparently when the battery is disconnected you have to: put your key in the ignition (do not turn on) and open and close the drivers door twice (I know, sounds like voodo). I was able to reprogram my auto seats after that - weird, but it worked. I had called Infiniti and they had no idea how to do it other then to tell me to bring it in.

RE: I-30 sales. I have found that most of the car sales people are NOT very knowledgable at all. The "closer" they bring in is usually the guy that knows a heck of a lot more about the car then the salesmen who come and go. The best bet is price the car on the Internet, checking various sites, print it out and ask them to match it. If they don't - walk out and go to another dealer!!!!!!!!! There will always be a car for you to buy if you decide to pay more!!! The trick is DON'T GET HOT!!!!!!! They know you will and will seldom let you reach the end of their lot without making a better offer. (Remember they check the Internet too and they know the prices that are being offered.)

I just check www.carsdirect.com if you put in S. Cal zip code. It is selling $1000 below invoice. Of course, you don't know did you actually get the color and options combination you want. So, the deal is out there, just need to do a little more leg work.

laheat-$795??? That's high. Even my dealer charge $699. Well, I got is for free. Nothing can beat free. =)
  • tgif888tgif888 Member Posts: 351
cpa4u-did you get all the parts you needed?

Others-to other 01 I30 owners, do you guys have the fuel protector installed?
  • cpa4ucpa4u Member Posts: 136
I ordered the parts from the www.nissan.cc website that someone listed here. The total of the parts was about $17 cheaper shipped from them versuses getting them from Infiniti dealer. They are the same parts too, Infiniti admitted that the I30 and Maxima use the same protector part. They still claim the part isn't needed on 2001 models. Well, I should have my parts early this next week and either I will put them on or take it to the local Nissan dealer and see if they will put it on for me.

Hi, I am shoping for new i30. Edomunds.com show two types of rebate. They are both $1000. One is for customer loyalty and the other is for general. Any idea ? Ventura infiniti has ad for new i30 for 24799. Sounds good ?
  • tgif888tgif888 Member Posts: 351
The other one is manufacture to dealer incentive. Be careful, some dealers won't tell you about the $1000 incentive from the manufacture. $24799 it depends on which model and what kind of equipments.

My dealer installed a Clarion 6 disc CD changer in the trunk when I bought my 01 I-30. Where
is the best place to buy the 6 disc magazines? I checked with one place and they wanted almost $30 for 1 magazine. Is that what they should cost?
  • mvanhoumvanhou Member Posts: 6
Let us know how it goes. It sounds like an easy install, if someone has a pic they can take, please post it up.

    Thanks.

At about 14,000 miles a light urging a service check has appeared on my dash. I imagine this is just a reminder for the 15,000 mile check-up. I can imagine the dealer cost for this. It wouldn't surprise me a bit if it was 500.00 for this "service". I think I'll pass. Anybody know how to re-set the dash light?
  • vtgtvtgt Member Posts: 30
Have you bought gas a day or so before you saw the light? It happened to me once when my I30 just hit to 1000 miles. The car has a sensor for humidity in the gas tank. If you do not close the gas cap tight enough, you have a chance to see the light. Check your gas cap. Run for couple days and the light should be gone. Otherwise, call your dealer. Only dealers can reset this sensor and they may do it for free at first time.

Has anyone bought from Troncalli in Atlanta at the sale price of $25990? What else did they add in? I would like to purchase this weekend, but don't want to make the trip if they add alot of extra fees in. Were they willing to ax you a buyer's order? have the cars been on the lot for a long time?

Newspaper ad says + Tax, Tag, Title. I also know that they want to limit it to the titanium w/graphite interior, but I believe they would move off that. Have not talked with them seriously at this point, so I am not sure if there are hidden costs. I suggest that you call and talk to them before making the trip. Good luck, and let me know how you make out.

Saw that the 2002 Maxima GLE MSRP is going to be about $27,000. If so,my guess is the I-35 will be about $31,000. What do you think?
  • wreck5wreck5 Member Posts: 15
How different is the 02 Maxima pricing from 01?
  • tgif888tgif888 Member Posts: 351
This is what Nissan said about the 02 pricing. However, the hp rating on the 02 had been decreased to 255hp instead of 260hp.

    2002 Nissan Maxima Pricing

    GXE 3.5-liter DOHC V6 4-speed auto. $24,699
    SE 3.5-liter DOHC V6 6-speed man. $25,449
    SE 3.5-liter DOHC V6 4-speed auto. $25,449
    GLE 3.5-liter DOHC V6 4-speed auto. $27,099

    Destination and Handling $540

Note: 2002 Maxima GXE model include equipment offered as part of the optional $1,069 Comfort & Convenience package in MY01. 2002 Maxima SE models include equipment offered as part of the optional $1,799 Comfort & Convenience package (minus the $899 sunroof feature) in MY01.

Drove from SF to LA last weekend and everytime I hit around 80-90mph, a very annoying whistling sound would surface from the air vents. I tried switiching to Econ vs. Auto and made no difference. I tried moving the air vents around in different positions. No luck.

    Anyone having similar issues?

    jay

    ps

maybe its telling me to slow down?
  • tgif888tgif888 Member Posts: 351
Hmm, I never reach the speed. I did reach 70-75mph but no such sound. Definitely had the dealer checks it out.

I just heard from a salesman that the incentives are back on for August. I don't know if they increased at all or stayed the same. Probably stayed the same.

If anyone gets a great deal in the Southeast region, please post.
  • djrunnerdjrunner Member Posts: 46
Edmunds has posted a dealer incentive for $1500 for the month of August. Owner Loyalty is still in effect as well. If anyone gets a great deal, please post.
  • _esch__esch_ Member Posts: 3
I got from two dealers information that there was a $1500 dealer incentive (in July) applicable only to purchases. (NY Metro region)

I was wondering why Edmonds had no mention of it last month. It really wreaked havoc with my negotiation.

Just came from the infiniti dealer. He quoted me an out the door price of $29,173.10. That would be for the I30L model with the sunroof/sunshade delete. Does that sound like a fair price? I'm in the central new jersey area. Any comments would be appreciated.

I have I30 (2001) that I bought last year and unfortunately few days ago, while driving on highway, rock hit it and damaged the windshield. The damage is like a star and it can be covered by a dollar bill. A repair company told me that it is not repairable ( since it is a star like ) and it needs replacement. If I get it replaced, my concern is that I am going to loose the factory seal and the ride may not be quite. Also I do not know whether the insurance company will replace it with Infiniti Windshield or with some other windshield. Do you have any suggestions and is there a reputable company which stands behind their work ( in georgia - if i get it replaced).

    Thanks
  • tgif888tgif888 Member Posts: 351
Hmm, I believe you can ask your insuracne company to replace with a geniune Infiniti windshield. Accept nothing less than Infiniti parts.
  • joel2468joel2468 Member Posts: 75
The rule of thumb for getting windshield repairs is (1) if the cracks radiating from the strike point can be covered by a quarter (25c) (2) the crack(s) aren't all the way through the windshield (3) this is the third time or less (4) the cracks aren't in the corners or along the edges, it is reaparable. In these cases, they will drill into the glass and fill in the cracks. I had this done on my Avalon, and although it didn't remove the original strike point, the radiating cracks are invisible.

If yours can't be repaired, I would insist on original parts, genuine Infiniti windshield only. Ask the dealership where they get their windshields repaired (there are sometimes cracks in windshields, among other problems, on newly delivered cars). Under these conditions, you shouldn't have to worry about the performance of the windshield, or degradation in noise level, etc. of the new windshield.

  • joel2468joel2468 Member Posts: 75
some repair shops will not repair a windshield, even under the best of conditions (as outlined above) if the cracks are on the drivers side.

Purchased I30L approximately a month ago. My wife and I love it. However, I recently read the near/entry luxury car comparison in Edmunds and disappointed in how the I30 was ranked. It seems that most reviewers are more interested in comparing vehicles on track performance than the reasons why we purchased the car in the first. Those reasons being comfortable ride, classy interior and exterior, built quality and most importantly, bang for the buck. By reading the review I'm under the impression that I purchased a Japanese Buick. Any thoughts from other I30 owners in how the vehicle ranked.

On another note, the only complaint that I have for my car is the rear seat cupholders. A can of soda is completely too small for the compartment and there is no back plate to keep it from sliding. As such, I'm required to open the compartment only halfway and rely on the back end of the console to hold a soda in place. Could there be an attachment that the dealer forgot to provide me when I purchased the vehicle?

I am considering buying the I30T with heated seats, traction, touring sports package and CD changer. I live in the Boston area and the dealer has offered me a price of 30,658. Does anyone have any info in terms of how good this price is in this area? Any info will be appreciated, Thanks
