Picky, I know, but I hate the rear-shelf mounted woofer in the Acura TL because the rear passengers hear mostly bass. Anyone know if the 2002 I30 has the same? Thanks,

I talked the service people at my dealership into installing the parts that I paid for when they do the 7500 mile oil change and tire rotation. I told them that the tires would be off the car anyway and that it shouldn't take but a couple of minutes for them to install the parts. At first he said it would be extra $50 for them to do that. I said no way, that I would call Infiniti and complain. So, then he says, "maybe" they would do it free since I was paying for 7500 mile service. I said no "maybe", you WILL do it for free since I had to pay for the parts MYSELF!!! He finally said ok. Can't believe they are being this way after I bought a $34k car from them!!
  • fencefence Member Posts: 15
The parts person didn't know what I was talking about. I tried to pursue it further but he basically he had no clue about it. So, I dropped. I did tell him that I will get part numbers and he seems open to installing it if I can find the parts.

I really like the I30. Its very quite at low speed but it seems a bit noicy at higher speeds but it just might be me. My garage smells like a new car :-) I love to drive this car, with the radio all the way up... My 2.5 year old doesn't care for the 200 watts in her ears but... just kidding :-)

Thought I would tell all you Infiniti I30 owners, I30t owners especially, that you have some really nice looking cars. The design of the I30 and I35 are very clean and don't need spoilers to add to their appeal(although the spoiler does look nice on them.) The I30t was dark blue with beige interior, NICE!!!!! I think Infiniti did a great job with the I30.

    I envy you people.
  • tgif888tgif888 Member Posts: 351
maxamillion-I had the exact same color combination. It looks very good. And, I think the spoiler makes the car looks even better.

gwar-The audio system in the 2001 I30t is much much better than the one on TL. I believe the 2002 will do the same.

    Hi Friends,

I need to buy a car by the month end and have decided to buy the I30. I live in Richmond Virginia. Would appreciate any input on how much ($$) i should be able to cough up. THe color comb i have in mind is titanium silver with graphite + traction control and heated seats pkg.
  • tgif888tgif888 Member Posts: 351
There is $1500 factory to dealer incentive. Most of the current owners were buying below invoice. I bought my back in May and get $600 under invoice and have the dealer throw in the wood kit. Try your price $750-$1000 below invocie.

Or you can go to carsdirect.com and punch in your zip code to check what is carsdirect selling.

I purchased my I30L last week - no options added. Troncalli is being very aggressive in their pricing to move their I30's. The original sale was for Titanium /graphite, but now you can get any color. My price out the door with taxes to be paid in my state when registering was :

    $26000 price of car
    $3 Georgia Lemon Law fee
    -$1000 Owner Loyalty
    Total $25003 out the door

They were competitive to beat my local dealer. I got everything in writing before going and had no trouble with the numbers changing when I arrived at the dealership.

With the great sale price. owner loyalty and dealer incentive of $1500, I managed to purchase at over $5000 below MSRP.

    Hello All,

It's been a mystery for me, but I have a 96' I30T and I have been filling my washer fluid quite frequently. It keeps disappearing, and no...there's no leak. I would fill it up to the brim and then a few days later it would disappear. Could it be that the water would have evaporated or something? Don't know how's that possible, but it dries out pretty quick on hot days. I don't use it often, but I do maintain the engine as often as possible and I keep seeing it empty, anyone have this problem?

Did you ask your dealer to install the fuel line protector?
  • georgejugeorgeju Member Posts: 2
    Hello DJRUNNER,
Who did you deal with at Troncalli? Did you handle it through internet, fax or phone? I live in NC and Atlanta is not that bad a drive and they may be more competitive. Any tricks to buying/leasing car long distance?
You can write to me off board if you'd like - georgeju@airmail.net

When you go to a dealer, you usually spend 10-20 minutes on a test drive. This is not enough for me because I have some reservations about the handling of this car. I would like to take a longer test drive before ordering a new 2001 I30, since I am not sure I like the handling. Can anyone suggest where I may rent one for a day or two. Most car rental companies feature U.S. brands. I am in the Washington DC area.

    Thanks,
    Sid

TGIF888 : Since everyone has been having so much trouble with the dealership not wanting to install the fuel line protectors, I didn't even bother asking.

Georgeju: Over about a three week period I placed and received phone calls from Troncalli. I spoke with two different sales people and the sales manager to hammer out all the details. Ken and LaPege were the two sales people and John Cunah was the manager. Everyone was great and LaPege ended up handling everything once I got to the dealership. John finalized the selling price and faxed me a buyer's order so I would have it in writing. I was leary at first about the deal since it was long distance, but once I had everything in writing I was ok. I was expecting some kind of trick, but there were no problems. If you contact anyone, ask for Ken or LaPege. LaPege has been with the dealership since April and Ken has been there for over 13 years. It would be whatever you prefer.

It definitely was worth the trip. Who knows, you might could turn it into a trip to see the Braves, if you like baseball?

How long of a test drive do you want/need? I think most dealers would be willing to let you take a demo for 1/2 day or even a full day.

Just bought a new I30 - filled out all the paperwork - then saw the actual vehicle, which was being transferred from another dealer, and it had a pin stripe painted on it - which I didn't ask for, and am not crazy about... the salesperson said "no problem" to get it off... I have been doing some checking into it and from all my sources it IS a problem... probably requiring buffing to remove the stripe - and then needing a paint job to fix the ruined finish... Has anyone tried removing a painted stripe?? I know... probably a nit, but I have never liked pin stripes! A quick reponse would be appreciated... I am supposed to go to the dealer tomorrow to see about getting it removed... but I am VERY leary about doing so... any thoughts?!!
  • keyrowkeyrow Member Posts: 214
Painted on pin stripes can easily be removed with a little CAREFUL buffing, any good detailer [I am one] or body shop can do it. Since these types of stripes are not painted on by the factory but done at the port/dealer they are put on top of the factory clearcoat. Thus they can be removed without harming the original paint. BTW, are you certain it is paint and not tape? If you can feel a ridge as you run your fingernail over it then it is tape (and much easier to remove).
  • fencefence Member Posts: 15
I have a '95 max and just bought an I30. For whatever reason, they removed the ability to bring the windows down using the remote key fob. I really like this feature of my Maxima...Does anyone know how 2 enable this in my I30. From what I understand they removed this feature in the '01 I30s... Does anyone know why they removed this feature?

    --tia
  • mvargo1mvargo1 Member Posts: 298
It is no longer possible to lower the front windows by remote. It has not been possible since the car was redesigned in 2000.
  • fencefence Member Posts: 15
Thanks for the info. Do you know why they eliminated the feature... Normally, you would increase the number of features versus removing them :-) Maybe somebody forgot and when the design was complete.. they said, oooppss Man I should've had a V8 ... ;-> How old is that commercial.. Am I showing my age...

  • jaki30jaki30 Member Posts: 73
Per my salesman, they eliminated the feature because it was possible to
accidentally lower the windows and not know they were down. I had the
feature on our 98 I30. Don't miss it on our 01 I30. I heard a rumor that the
windows could lower themselves if there was a malfunction of the remote
control system. I could understand Infinitis' reluctance to keep this feature.

I am thinking of adding stabilizer bars to my '01 I-30-L. Do I need front AND rear? Or just rear? And does anyone have a recommendation of which brands? And is there a significant improvement in handling?

Miller Infiniti-Van Nuys, CA. REFUSES to add the fuel line protector, unless I want to pay $75.00 or MORE (Yeah - right), so I had my mechanic order the parts as described in other posts and is going to install it for $25 or less. (I don't have the time to jack up the car and do it). Infiniti acknowledges that their cars had it up to the 2000 model, but claim ignorance as to why it's no longer there - yeah right!

My mechanic who use to be a Nissan service advisor said that if Infiniti drivers have accidents where the unprotected fuel line is an issue, the resulting law suit pay offs will cause them to recall and re-install that part. Hopefully no one will get hurt, but I guess thats what Firestone thuoght! So to save a few bucks ($20 or so) they left the part off. I hope they don't start nickel & diming the I-35 like that or this may be my last Nissan product.

WINDOWS: Another money saving issue. The only way to overcome this (if it bothers you) is to install an advanced car alarm like a Clifford System, that will activate your windows UP or DOWN prior to entering or exiting the car and walking away, upon activiating the alarm button.

Works great, but it is an additional cost, but I wanted an advanced alarm system on my car and that was one of the added benefits of the system.
  • tgif888tgif888 Member Posts: 351
That's low for an Infinti dealer. I talked to my salesperson and mention the fuel line protector issue. He took care for it right away. Now, that's customer service. Oh, my dealer is Metro Infiniti.

My '01 I30L sticker stated that it has "heated side mirrors" feature. Anyone knows how to operate this feature?? I looked in the manual and it had nothing about it and I didn't see any switch to operate it. Thanks
  • vmaturovmaturo Member Posts: 71
I think that feature is tied into the defroster or wipers. I believe the assumption is if you are using one of those items then you need the mirrors heated.
  • jeffstl7jeffstl7 Member Posts: 4
Was shopping for I30 this week and was told the heated mirrors go on with the heated seat.
    ____________________________________
I live in St Louis and those delicious E/W coast deals aren't available here...yet. $28,000 seems like best local price on I-30 with moon roof and heated seats. Best advertised prices are about $28,450. Tons of I-30's are sitting on dealer lots.

Anyone hearing of new discounts/programs coming for September? I can wait a few more days. Surely the price will only go down...especially in the mid-west.
  • yortzyortz Member Posts: 4
The heated side mirrors are automatically activated when you push the rear window defrost button.
  • pmanf1pmanf1 Member Posts: 1
I just got off the phone with our local Infiniti dealer and verbally agreed to purchase the I30L basic model (no heated anything)for $27,600. I thought I was getting a good deal, apparently not? I haven't signed anything. Any thoughts? And what's the deal with the fuel line? Not happy to see those messages
  • tgif888tgif888 Member Posts: 351
The fuel line is locate on the left rear wheel. When you look closely you'll see the fuel line right where you pump gas. In the 2000 model, Infiniti had installed a protector to protect the fuel line. And now it decided to skip it. I had success to have my dealer installed and others don't. If you decided to buy the I30L, make sure you include the installation of the fuel line protector into the deal.

Invocie of I30L-$28108 with no options. Since Infiniti is offering $1500 dealer incentive, try to negotiate the car from $1000 below inovice. Good Luck.
  • jeffstl7jeffstl7 Member Posts: 4
That $1500 dealer incentive isn't nationwide apparently. Isn't there also a big deduction for repeat Infiniti buyers. But I'm a first-timer.

Went by another local dealer today and they had even more I-30's than last week! Dow off another 160 points also indicates big incentives must be around the corner.
  • BobL242BobL242 Member Posts: 29
I just picked up my 01 I30L ( with sunshade delete) this week. I paid 26,297 without much haggleing. I was happy with that price. (felt it was fair to both me and the salesman) I believe he would have came down even more. So you should be able to get a better deal than what was offered to you. Tell him what you want to pay and be prepared to walk if he doesn't offer a price close to what you want. ( make a realistic offer). Let him know what other people paid for there I30's and you expect to pay in the same range. Good luck!
  • johnsandiegojohnsandiego Member Posts: 16
Has anyone heard anything about whether the $1,500 dealer incentive on 2001 I30s will be continued past 8/31?

Also, is there an expiration date for the $1,000 rebate for previous Infiniti owners, or is this an ongoing promotion?
  • isellinfinitiisellinfiniti Member Posts: 5
We are being told here in the Northwest that the owner loyalty rebate will be gone after friday. We are getting low enough on inventory, and ready for the 2002's to start rolling out that they will end the owner loyalty program.
  • dianalodianalo Member Posts: 12
Hi, my 96 I30's left blinker/indicator light is kaput at 50k miles. Since I don't feel like dealing with the local Infiniti dealer and their long wait for a service appt., I'd like to try a nearby Nissan dealer instead. The I30 is essentially a Maxima, right? Any problem with having minor repairs like this done there? Thanks.

I read a few lines in Road & Track about an upcoming Infiniti Sports Coupe model. Does anyone know where i can get more info on this car. Any ideas/info on this model.

Whats the main difference between the 2003 I35 and G35 models. They're both supposedly rear drive 3.5 engine cars. Why would they be competing against each other.
  • isellinfinitiisellinfiniti Member Posts: 5
The biggest difference between the I35, and the G35 is the fact that the I35 is front wheel drive, and the G is rear wheel drive.
As far as a sport coupe goes, we will probably see one as a 2003 model, called the S35, based on the G35 body and drive train, only in a coupe version. To get more information, check out freshalloy.com

Dow is crashing below 10,000 which will be the main story on tonight's news. Local dealers are loaded with I-30s. There will be monster incentives or the cars won't move.

Tech stock collapse is spreading to blue chips.

My mechanic owns Affordable Automotive in C.P. Number is: (818)887-4425 located on Ingomar just west of Canoga Ave. Years ago he worked for Datsun/Nissan - he is honest as the day is long. If you don't need something he will tell you not to spend the money. He and his crew are good. Let me know if you need anyother info.

Just wanted to throw my two cents in. I've read a lot of the posts in the Edmunds town hall and found them very helpful.

We purchased an I30L last week. The only option on it was the splash guards.

We considered the Acura TLS - my wife didn't care too much for the interior finish. I liked the performance, but since it was going to be her car it was out. Plus after sitting in for a while I decided the seats really didn't fit me very well.

The ES300 - we were ready to purchase. We actually could have gone either way, but in the end we felt the I30 was a better value. We actually sent out fax quotes for 250 under invoice for the 2001 ES300 and got a very poor response. One dealer did give us a price that was slightly better but I suspect it may have had a few miles on it. During July they had a factory rebate of $1000 or 1500 and you could probably make a better deal. We got one dealer down to invoice without even trying. In August they dropped the factory rebate and unveiled the new ES300. From what I've read it seems a lot of people do not like the new design and I think the dealers decided to hold on the old ones a little tighter.

Which brings us to the I30L. Overall we're very happy. It has everything my wife was looking for. The lexus is a bit nicer inside with a cushier ride, but it was going to be about 3500 more. We were able to get the I30 for about $1200 under invoice. Plus we got a Bose stereo system. Overall a pretty good deal.

I highly recommend the faxblast method. The key of course is doing the research to see what people are paying. Edmunds is great for this. Assuming they keep the $1500 dealer incentive you might be able to get an even better deal.
  • tgif888tgif888 Member Posts: 351
    Congratulation on your new ride.
  • BobL242BobL242 Member Posts: 29
What is the normal tire pressure for the factory tires that came on the 01 I30? My tires have 33 psi in them and when I hit a pot hole it feels like the rim is hitting pretty hard. Any help would be appreciated.
  • yortzyortz Member Posts: 4
Try 85% of Max. when the tires are cold for a start point. From there, you can adjust the pressure up or down a little to where to get the best balance of ride & handling.
  • dklaneckydklanecky Member Posts: 559
Try following the (car) manufacturer's sticker posted on the bottom of the console lid in I30's.

The tire's pressure recomendations (tire manufacturer) are for a wide range of vehicles out on the market and DO NOT match your specific car's needs for saftey and performance.

    Hi Friends,

Would appreciate if you could let me know if this is a good deal.Infiniti had sponsored a golf tournament and had used new cars.Dealer is offering one such 2001 I-30 Luxury, beige/beige, heated seats, traction control, 6-CD for $29400. The car has 800 miles on it. I am on the east coast. This is not the out of the door price. I probably assume the dealer will want to add the destination charges to it.

Would appreciate your inputs on this pricing. If you feel the pricing is high, please advise as to how much i could pay for it. Couldnt pull out pricing for used 2001 from the internet.
    Thanks.
  • tgif888tgif888 Member Posts: 351
Invoice price of the car that you mentioned is $29086. People are buying this car below invoice. So, with 800 miles the asking price $29400 is kind of high. I believed since the I35's launch is near (October). I believe you should start negotiate the price from $500-$1000 below invoice.

And the destination charge only applied to a new car. If the dealer insist the 800 miles car is still a new car, stay away.
  • psrinivpsriniv Member Posts: 41
Thanks tgif888 for your prompt response.

Would it be worth if make the deal for $28000-$28400.
    THanks again
  • tgif888tgif888 Member Posts: 351
Sure, it is a good price to start.
  • BobL242BobL242 Member Posts: 29
Go to the TMV section of this web site and see what the true market value of a car with those options are. Remember, the price you get would be for a new car and since the car has 800 miles, it should be a used car or maybe a demo. If they try to sell it to you as new look for any rebates. Last month there was a $1500 rebate. I bought a I30L 2 weeks ago with sunshade delete and no options for $26,297 and sticker was 29,010. I bought mine in nj. Good luck!
