They say they will show me the actual invoice to prove this. Do prices change during the year so that the Edmunds prices could be off?
Also, does anyone know what dealer holdback is on Siennas?
Thanks.
Dan
The holdback on Toyotas is 2%.
MSRP $42,536.
Price paid: $39000.
Trade-in value on 2003 Highlander limited: $18,500.
Graduation rebate: $400 (graduating from medical school in May.)
I bought extended warranty for about $1200 (I can't remember exactly).
Total priced financed (at 0% interest) was $21300.
The best part is that we found exactly what we wanted right here in good ol' Arkansas. I thought I'd have to go out of the Gulf States, since these limited models are so rare here that dealers usually won't stray too far from MSRP.
For all of you willing to negotiate with dealers through email, I'd definitely recommend the Orr Toyota in Hot Springs, AR. No hassle whatsoever. If anyone needs contact information, please feel free to contact me.
Thanks.
My region is offering $1000 cash or 2.9APR/36 months.
I will appreciate the response...
thanks...
I suspect that prices tend to run high in my area and there is little room for negotiation.
Alderman's was pleasant to deal with and they delivered the car to my house, but there were some issues which made the experience less pleasant.
We had originally agreed on a price of 35,113 for the "06 Limited AWD on March 4, assuming a $750 rebate at the time of delivery. The car actually arrived at the dealership on April 10, at which time the rebate had increased to $1000 from the $750 it had been when we made the deal. Strangely, the price I paid did not drop $250. They cited that the invoice price had increased and that their profit remained the same, at $750.
Well, I wasn't going to make a big issue of $250 at this point, but I felt that I should have paid less since the rebate increased. I really doubt their profit was only $750 on this vehicle. I also doubt that the invoice price increased.
Anyway, I'm probably buying another Toyota in the next 6 months and this dealership is aware of that. I'm surprised they didn't do more to try to gain my business on the next one. Instead, this kind of sleight of hand makes me likely to move on to another dealership.
Overall, not the worst experience ever, nor the best. I just wanted to post my experience since I benefited from others having done so.
We LOVE the Sienna, by the way. Much nice than the Acura MDX we had before.
Thanks.

Unless I am missing something it looks like it is $968.00 below TMV. Cash sale no trade. I think that I did okay. I hope so since I will pick up the van Wed. this week.
I emailed mycarcarrier.com days ago for a quote but still haven't received it. Dealer thinks it will cost about $800. I have read to have vehicle extensively photographed. Is there a charge for this? I just want to have all of the facts before I make a commitment. Any additional costs I need to be aware of?
thanks, bliss

Completed deal today. Deal went very smooth no problems. The only change to the above I added a WKU plate in place of the regular lic. plate. A $50.00 tax deductable add-on. Gary Force Toyota Bowling Green Ky.
Also, while vacationing in Florida I have seen ads for Tundra and Sequoia XSP Sport packages, which includes some Enkei wheels, leather seats, and trim, selling for far more than the value of those things seperately.
I would recommend flying into Maryland/D.C and buying a Toyota from one of the 3 no haggle places there: Darcars, Fitzmall, or CarMax-Laurel Toyota.
I negotiated a price $200 over invoice (for the Tacoma) at one GS dealership only to show up and find they added $1500.00 in "advertising costs", financing charge (even though I was paying by check--salesman couldn't explain except to say "we charge this to everybody"). Of course, I left, but other GS dealerships were no better: they provided incorrect information (I knew more about the vehicles than their salesmen) or outright tried to deceive me into accepting a higher-priced vehicle than I agreed on in another attempted purchase.
I think I'm just going to do as jchan2 suggests and fly into the area, then drive my purchase back. I have basically decided against shipping as there are too many variables to account for.
I have a feeling the dealer could go lower, but the price right now is below TMV, even after you add back the $1000 coupon.
I'm still on the fence about buying as of right now, but things could change...
Melody Toyota has Sienna LE 7 seater advertised for 20,900 this weekend. Looks like an excellent deal if you are hunting for a Sienna.
>> Too good to be true. Even base LE won't come at that price.
Could you please please PM me about the details.
Thanks
Mike

Plus I'm hoping another Nashville area dealer gets a Sienna with Navigation in their inventory as Beaman Toyota currently has a monopoly.
To make a long story short, the salesman who helped us barely spoke English (we really could not understand him, and he could barely understand us as he was from India and was only here temporarily while his wife worked at the Embassy), but he was very nice. I made it very clear up front that we were looking at three differnt vans that morning (starting with the Toyota) and were planning on comparing notes over dinner, sleeping on it, then making our decision the next day. I simply wanted to test drive the van and get their best offer on paper (I had already received several Internet quotes from Toyota dealers and was aware that it was end of month and that Toyota was offering a 1K rebate).
The test drive went okay (I asked to drive an XLE and he brought over an LE, and the van had mud all over the inside). Minus the communication problems the drive went well, and both my wife and I spent about 30 minutes taking turns driving the van. We came back to the dealer, and I told the salesman that we appreciated his time and could we get a writen "best offer" on the van so we could go to the Honda dealer. I explained that we were pressed for time, and asked him to hurry. This is when the trouble started.. The polite salesman told me he needed to consult with his sales manager "to get me the best offer". After keeping me waiting for about 15-20 minutes (remember, I am here with my wife and 9 month old) I get up to leave and the sales manager comes rushing over. I tried to be nice, but he had a "know-it-all" attitude and told me that he was "not going to let me leave until he put me in a Toyota Sienna". I told him that we had never owned a minivan before and wanted to make an "informed" decision. We wanted to drive the Honda and Chrysler van as well, but that we liked the Sienna and just wanted his best offer so we could make a decision. He stood there and berated the Odyssey and T&C and told me that the Sienna was the only van for me and that he would "blow me away with an offer" if I bought it right then and there. I again told him that I did not work that way and that buying a 30K van (I was considering either a Sienna XLE, Odyysey EX-L, and T&C Touring or Limited) is not something that you rush into. I again asked him to write the "out the door price" of the van down on paper so we could go. He preceded to tell me that "first I needed to make up my mind right then and there that I wanted the Sienna and he would make me an incredible offer". I looked around at the empty dealership, laughed and told him we were leaving to go and drive the Honda (at this point he had wasted nearly 45 minutes of my time). I told him that the salesman had my contact info if he wanted to call and give me the OTD price of the van. He cracked on the Odyssey one more time and then I told him the price that the Honda dealer down the street offered me on an 06 Odyssey EX-L ($27.5K w/freight). I asked if he could match that with a Sienna XLE (w/leather and stability control), and he told me that the price from Honda was too good to be true. So we walked out the door, and he never even gave me a quote. Guess, what. I got my Honda Odyssey EX-L for 27.5K + TTL and no sales or financing gimmicks the next day...
Now too be fair, I did email several other Toyota dealers and had a very positive experience with both Fitzmall and Jack Taylor's Toyota. Neither could come close to getting me a Sienna XLE (w/leather and stability control) for the price of the Honda Odyssey, but I would recommend them as they were professional and up front. Stay away from Lustine...
