Can you tell me which dealer you bought from? I am looking for a sienna in the bay area also. Thanks,
  • dwong408dwong408 Member Posts: 7
Made my purchase at piercey toyota in milpitas, I requested the internet price and that was alot higher, so its best to go in, test drive and negotiate a deal. Make sure to do all your research before hand

I am buying the Sienna XLE in MN. I Will be getting financed directly from my bank. I negotiated with three dealers yesterday and each time got a lower price. I've ended up at 31000 for the XLE. this is the standard XLE. The only addition is the floormats. The MSRP is 33200.
Do you think that this is a fair price given that this is cash down for the dealer?
  • raketa1raketa1 Member Posts: 8
Yeah, I think it's a good deal and within about $200 of a comparable deal I got on a XLE w/Nav shopping 2 dealers in SW suburbs of Minneapolis. My deal was 7.27% off MSRP or about $340 above invoice. Hope that helps!

I'm looking for a XLE with no option, according to edmunds.com
    Base invoice price: $29,278
    Destination charge: $800
Not sure how much floormats cost, let's say $200. It seems $31,000 is more like $700 above invoice. Did I miss anything?
I'll go to the dealer this weekend to check out the van.

I purchased 2011 XLE with DVD from Heiser Toyota (Milwaukee, WI) Internet sales person (Rogers). MSRP 36,011.... paid $32,341 and got financing rate of 3.75 for 60 months.

I liked the service of the dealer. Strongly recommend.

    Thanks,
    Kumar

Yes, I think I am about 200 over. That is something I plan to do today at the dealership.
BTW, two dealerships refused to match this price although I did tell them that I was buying it today. So I think I am close to the limit.
  • nitcnitc Member Posts: 13
Thanks everybody for your input. I just picked up the XLE standard with floor mats for 30,700. The MSRP on the vehicle was 33,264. This was really the best deal I could get.
  • gollsgolls Member Posts: 21
Hi dwong408, congratulations on your purchase! I am also shopping in the SF bay area and received internet quotes from around 10 dealers. Based on those quotes, it looks like you got a great deal on the XLE+premium package. How much did your internet quote differ from the final purchase price? Did you only work with the internet department or walked into the dealership and negotitated afresh? Thanks!
  • gray123gray123 Member Posts: 1
FYI for price comparison: just purchased 2011 XLE with premium package for 36390. I think someone else also got around or little less on that price. Sticker 39200 w/o mats. No other crazy add on fees. Straight up offer w/o negotiation-was quoted 38 something by Amex dealer in MD and 37 something from PA. Since Holman Toyota Mt laurel was straight off honest price bought from them. Gave me good deal on trade in 2002 Sienna
  • dwong408dwong408 Member Posts: 7
    Hi golls

Most of the internet quotes I received where 37k range. Capitol toyota quoted their price of 36817 for a xle+prem packa without mats-msrp of 39200.

Fairfield gave me a a lowest of 36k, but i don't think they have the vehicle in stock.

The internet dept at Piercey toyota quoted me 37+. So I just walked in and negotiated with someone else. I worked with the salesperson named glaus. Bought the xle+prem package with floor carpet and door sill protector msrp 39524 at 36k without tax/fees.

On Friday, I booked a Sienna XLE. After I have my loan check received from the bank, I will go take delivery of the vehicle. While browsing, i just happened to do a VIN check on carfax.com and discovered that there were 3 records for this VIN number. I then registered on carfax.com. here's how the records read
    1. Vehicle offered for sale (01/19/2010)
    2. Maintenance inspection completed, Pre-delivery inspection completed (02/08/2010)
    3. Vehicle offered for sale (02/19/2010)

What makes it even more strange is that for 1 and 2 above, the vehicle is listed to be at a completely different dealer. I am buying the car from a different dealer

The carfax report does say that there are no problems with the vehicle. but I am just a little concerned on why this vehicle has three records, and why was it with a different dealer and my dealer isnt even listed as having this vehicle even now!
Can anyone help here. If there is a problem, i will just change to a different vehicle (VIN)

Thanks to everyone who shares such incredibly helpful information on this forum. I pulled the trigger on a 2011 sienna fwd 8 passengers without dvd/nav (predawn mica). It comes with floor mats and roof-top rails. Price paid: $30700 + ttl (total $34k, no financing) in SF bay area. I emailed 10 dealers two days back, and the lowest quotes received were in the $31.3k range. Looking at nitc's post, I emailed back with an offer of $30,700 and one dealer accepted it (two others refused). The buying experience at the dealership was very smooth with no hard sells. Based on my findings on this forum and looking at truecar.com/carsdirect.com/fitzmall etc., I think the price is good, we may have saved another couple hundred bucks or so with more effort. The dealer suggested that we apply for a Toyota visa card and pay $4k with it, which pays back 5% so that takes $200 off the price. Thanks everyone!

I bought my 2011 sienna XLE (with floor mats, but no DVD, no Navi.) for $3560 off from MSRP a week ago, also in SF bay area. That makes the pre-tax/fee price below $30K. I think the price will still coming down more soon. But since I needed the car, just pulled the trigger to get one. So far, I am very happy with the new sienna.
  • gollsgolls Member Posts: 21
The best I have seen on this forum before your post for a 2011 Sienna XLE is $30500. You should definitely post the details for others' benefits. I have already bought the car for much more than you paid, but others can surely benefit from more information about where you bought the car and what approach you took to get that price. Thanks!
  • sienna_ownersienna_owner Member Posts: 12
Not sure about this forum policy. Can I mention the dealer name here? Anyway, you can just check the San Jose Mercury News ads. One dealer has all the 2011 sienna XLE for $3500 off from MSRP (The dealer ads now is even cheaper than when I bought it). There is still some small room from this discount, I guess it depends on what options you pick :-)
I asked other south bay dealers. No other dealer would match this ads price. But the news paper ads was real. Because I got my sienna XLE :-)
  • sienna_ownersienna_owner Member Posts: 12
By the way, if you can manage to go to southern california (LA area), the price is even cheaper. One dealer here told me, even the MSRP are the same, the dealer cost in southern cal is cheaper then SF area. Toyota sells the same car to southern cal dealer cheaper than SF dealer, due to some marketing and other cost different in different areas.
The only problem is Toyota doesn't sell any base XLE sienna to LA area. All XLE there comes with Navi. package.

Dealers often trade vehicles around to get what they need for a specific customer. Sounds like this is what has occurred with the Sienna you are considering. The Sienna was origionally sent to dealer "A". Dealer "A" needed something from dealer "B" (the dealer that now has the vehicle you are considering). So they traded, and now you are at dealer "B" looking at the Sienna that was origionally sent to dealer "A".

Thank you ! Now I feel a lot more comfortable about getting the same vehicle :)
My only other concern is that its been over two months that the vehicle has probably been parked outdoors on the lot in the harsh Minnesota Winter and i am wondering if that is harmful for the paint.
Should I ask for a newer vehicle since they are getting some that are fresh off the truck, or I shouldn't be too concerned!
The vehcile also has 30 miles on it as per the last carfax report from about a month back. I am assuming there would be some more miles clocked since then if there have been any test drives on the vehicle.

Yes, it does sound like it was a vehicle trade between dealers. Personally, I like it when the dealers report the inspections / services to carfax. I wish more would do so.

30 miles is not too much - about 3 or 4 test drives. Still check it out, and make sure that everything is good to you - Toyota has been having more problems with panel fit etc than previously.

As to sitting out - we have not had too much snow in the past 2 months - the roads are horrible (and salt on the road is the bigger problem, not sun exposure), but at 30 miles, it hasn't been on them too much. I think it would be ok, but if it's not exactly what you want, see if the dealer would be willing to do the same deal on a different one. Just be glad it hasn't been sitting out since before the Christmas storm :) In the end, it hasn't endured the worst of the winter, so you should be fine.

One other thing - while carfax reports "vehicle offered for sale" on Jan 19, that's when it went in the dealer's log, not necessarily when it arrived. IIRC, these vehicles did not show up on the lots for another week or two.

So what was your price and which dealership did you get that from. I am also in the SF Bay are and looking for XLE with no options FWD or AWD.

I just bought a Sienna 2011 LE with floor mats OTD price 29,200.00 at Boch Toyota South. (MA tax @ 6.25)
  • raghu_vsraghu_vs Member Posts: 5
Is it 29,200 + TTL + Warranty (if applicable)?

    Thanks.
  • b747b747 Member Posts: 10
    Raghu_vs,

Otd price already included Tax & TTL. (no extra warranty -just basic 36k mile or 3 yrs)
I also had $200 gift certificate + 2 yrs free oil change (incentive from Toyota if anyone in your family currently own a Toyota).

Read many posts about the price/buying experience for the 2011 Sienna, and they were quite helpful. However, many were for LE and XLE; and rarely found info for Limited (probably one). So, decied to share my experience with others, and perhaps, some will find it helpful when they are choosing the Limited.

Bought the 2011 Limited about a month ago in Southern California, (when Sienna first came out, thought wasn't planning to buy it at the time with all the news about the gas pedal problem), with the Premium Package, and the additions that came with the car which included the floor mat/sill cover with Sienna logo, roof cross bars, and two plastic bins for the wells (behind the 3rd row).

The MSRP was $44,070s. Negotiated the price for a while, and had the price reduced by $3,000; which did not include TTL fees. After purchasing the car, I kept on checking the posts at Edmunds.com b/c I had buyer's remorse and I didn't want to feel that I overpaid by a wide margin. I noted that some people were able to get about $3300 up to about $3800 (amazing) below the MSRP, though they were for LEs and XLEs; thus could not do a fair comparison. Nevertheless, I figure $3K below MSRP when the car just came out, is not too bad. Hope others could do better (may be much better) for their Limited purchase

Also traded in a car at the time of Sienna purchase, though I made it clear at the dealership that I may or may not trade in the car, depending on the trade in value offered of course, and I was firm on settling on the price for the Sienna first, before talking about the trade in. At the end, I believe I got a fair price with the trade in.

During processing of the purchase, I was offered the extended warranty with Platinujm coverage for 8 yr/100,000 miles and no co-pay at a price of $2,000. Silly me, I didn't know I could negotiate this price also, and got it at face value. After buying the car, I did more extensive reading on other Edmund.com's posts, where I disovered some were able to get 7 yr (yes, seven and not eight yr)/100,000 miles (not sure about copay though) for $940. I went back to the dealership right away with a print out from the Edmunds post, obviously displaying my disatisfaction/anger with feeling of being ripped off. With some haggling, finally settled on a reduced price of $1,140, with the difference amount refunded to me.

In addition, with some effort, was able to get 2 yr free Toyota auto maintenace program (for previous Toyota/Xcion/Lexus owner) and the cargo net included.

Lastly, I want to add that the salesperson was great, non-pushy and very patient; and the public relations manager was superb who did lots of follow up calls and answered questions promptly. Also, received several follow up calls post the car purchase, and gave me the positive impression that customer service did not simply stop when I bought the car/left the dealership.

Hope above helps other potential Sienna Limited buyers and good luck !

If it concerns you that much on sitting on the lot, by all means get a "fresher" one. After all, you are paying 30K + for something, make it all right by getting exactly what you want. And the newer one may be made a little better, as the assembly workers have had more practice. :P
  • avis1001avis1001 Member Posts: 3
I have a dealer who is willing to give XLE Fwd for $30K but only if he sees another vehicle being sold for this price. He is ready to give it for matching price only but not ready to reduce the price without it. So, I will be glad if you can give me the price breakdown on that vehicle so that I can get for low price. Thanks in advance.

I have been following this forum for a while, and wanted to share some hopefully valuable info. I was looking for the XLE w/ AWD, with the only option being floor mats. This is not easy to find in central NJ. I found several dealers who were willing to order one for me, and the best price I got was $500 over invoice - and I was doing all my leg work via the internet. But then I found a dealer offer to sell it to me at invoice, and I pulled the trigger last night and had them order one for me. Here is all the financial info:
    MSRP: $35,604 incl. dest
Invoice: $32,916 incl. dest. This is what I paid, plus:
    doc fee: $299
    tax 7%
    NJ DMV fees= about $450

Included in the invoice price is $800 destination, $10 gas, $500 TDA, $690 dealer holdback, and $345 wholesale fin'l reserve - whatever this is. There was no going any lower than paying the full invoice price. In fact, the sales mgr didn't want to sell me the car at invoice. When I got to the dealership, and my salesman presented the deal to sales mgr, he rejected it. He wanted to charge me $1500 more, because the car was so hard to come by. Fortunately, I had printed the email quote I got from my salesman, and I told them they had to honor it - which, after some discussions, they did. Not sure if this was an actual mistake by my salesman, or a silly dealership game. Moral of the story: get your quotes in writing before you go to the dealership - and bring it with you. Good luck!

Just check today's San Jose Mercury Newspaper, the same dealer has the 2011 sienna XLE (model # 5348, MSRP $33264 or above) for $3550 OFF from MSRP. This will be the best you can find (even cheaper than last week's ads), Good luck!
  • raghu_vsraghu_vs Member Posts: 5
    Thanks for the info.

I recently bought a 2011 Sienna. Here are the details

    2011 Toyota Sienna 5dr 8-Pass Van V6 LE FWD

    MSRP: $30,244

Got this for 28,600 + TTL (Renton, Washington) + 8yr/75,000 platinum warranty ($1225)
  • mfletou1mfletou1 Member Posts: 508
There's no Toyota owner loyalty on these, right?

I wonder if that's something they'll consider--maybe throwing $1k loyalty on. My sense is that they'll need to do something because enough Toyota owners are abandoning ship to start hitting the bottom line.
  • critical1critical1 Member Posts: 4
Why do you not mention the dealership name? Are there now hidden rules of the forum that are being implemented?
This is getting a bit annoying. If you are trying to be helpful then BE helpful.
I am sure the dealership does not mind getting our business either.
  • ateixeiraateixeira Member Posts: 72,587
    Not at all:

"What a difference a month makes for Toyota, whose sales climbed 80 percent since February thanks to generous incentives and more balanced headlines," observed Jessica Caldwell, director of Industry Analysis for Edmunds.com. "At this point, Toyota seems to be making large strides in reinstating its good name and appealing to car-shoppers."

Hurry up and buy now before the 0% disappears or they run out of stock.
  • mfletou1mfletou1 Member Posts: 508
Run out of stock? Are you kidding? Every day I look at inventories, they've got more and more Siennas. My preferred dealer has around 70 with 40 more on order.

I don't think 0% is on Sienna, anyway. You can't include Sienna in that discussion, anyway, since there really weren't any Sienna's on sale in February.

Besides, 80% since February--their worst month in how long--is not saying all that much.

This is like a 2-month old model. If prices on it went UP during the rest of the year, that would be fairly unprecedented. But we'll see. I'm one of these buyers that don't need to buy and won't unless they make it worth my while--that goes for Honda, too--who is not being particularly aggressive on the Odyssey right now.
  • gollsgolls Member Posts: 21
Hi critical1, I am not sure why sienna_owner does not want to mention the dealership name. I looked it up myself in today's San Jose Mercury News. The dealer is Hayward Toyota, and the ad does mention taking $3550 off MSRP. The ad says they have 5 at that price. Good luck!

Anyone have any experiences to share on FitzMall

I can vouch for Fitz Subaru. 2 cars there, both good experiences. No surprises.

    All,
Been browsing this site for quite awhile and finally negotiated for a black 2011 XLE with premium pkg. It took about a week for the van to arrive, but picked it up yesterday. Our price 36,600 +TTL. I really couldn't do any better, maybe 36,300 if I waited another month, but no premium models anywhere in southern AL/MS/LA. Not terrible, but understand many of you did better, but a very limited selection in the deep south. I did have a USAA Car Buying service quote at 35,100, but they didn't have the vehicle available and that drive was 6 hours away. All in all, happy with the purchase, very nice van. I feel a very good improvement over our base 2004 Sienna LE. Our dealer was Springhill Toyota in Mobile, AL. Also, Toyota of New Orleans was very competitive, but had to wait a month.
Good luck to the rest of you!!!

Honda not being aggressive on the Odyssey? They are going for $2000 to $2500 below invoice right now. Got a 2010 Odyssey EX-L RES (Leather, DVD) for $30650 + TTL with 2.79% financing. What do you consider to be aggressive exactly?
  • hokiehighhokiehigh Member Posts: 16
I got a few quotas using AMEX car buying program for a base XLE, cheapest is 30,690 from a PA dealer and highest was 31,8xx from NY dealer, I'm not sure how much dealer processing fee on top of these prices. Also got a quota using costco program, $1,500 over invoice which is not competitive at all.

I haven't see a single one 2011 sienna yet except at the dealer, not even in Costco's parking lot!! I'm wondering how well are they selling?
  • sienna_ownersienna_owner Member Posts: 12
After owning the new sienna XLE for 2 weeks. I discovered a problem on this car. It's A/C is not working. Toyota seems to have some quality control issue on this new car. I brought the car back to the dealer, and they offered me either to fix the car or to return this car. What a nice dealer is! (highly recommend :-) So, the car it back to the dealer, and I got my full refund.
  • snowdaddyosnowdaddyo Member Posts: 53
Wow, amazing to see how far Toyota has strayed away from their TPS values. So what are you going to do now, minus the new car?
  • mfletou1mfletou1 Member Posts: 508
You could have bought the exact same van this month last year for $27.9k. They aren't $2500 under invoice...there is a $1250 incentive, and then most dealers are going $300-$600 under that. For instance, your van's invoice is $32416. Take the $1250 off the top (dealer doesn't pay for that), and your true invoice is $31156. So, you got yours for $506 under invoice, or $1756 if you want to count the incentive. Holdback on that vehicle is about $715, so the dealer made about $200 on your sale. That's certainly a fine deal given the incentive, but the incentive is not that aggressive--its less than it has been historically right now.

Given what the deal was when I bought my vehicle in 2007--when there was also a $2500 incentive--I'd be looking for at least that, considering this is an expiring model.
  • sienna_ownersienna_owner Member Posts: 12
I think taking the car back is probably not Toyota's general policy. That car will be fixed and re-sell as an "used" car. Of course, dealer won't take the loss. Toyota has to pay them. I think it depends on how dealer values their customers and whether they want to go through that trouble or not.

Anyway, it opens up some options for me now. Most likely I will still get another sienna from this dealer again. The question is when :) I don't want to go through the process of returning another defect car again. Maybe wait until Toyota gets the better QC on the new sienna assembly lines.

Okay, now it's a matter of semantics - there's factory invoice vs. TMV or "true invoice" or whatever you want to call it. What most people refer to on this board is the factory invoice. According to your methodology, if there was a $2500 incentive, you'd still be getting only about $600-700 below the "true invoice".

In either case, your numbers are a little off. The factory invoice for an EX-L RES is $32,766, not $32,416. Also, the holdback is 2% of factory invoice, which would be $655, not $715.

Also, the price that I received on the car was actually $30,500 (I paid a little more to redo the financing in order to get a much more favorable rate the following day - long story), which made it $2,266 under factory invoice, or about $361 under the known dealer costs and incentives for the vehicle but there is no way you really know what their "true cost" is, given other hidden incentives that we do not know about.

Lastly, the current economic situation is vastly different from that of 1 year ago. I seriously doubt that Honda feels the pressure to increase their incentives given a.) they have produced far fewer vehicles this year (in light of the 2011 model being released this fall and the recession), and b.) the perceived competitive advantage stemming from Toyota's troubles.
  • viskha1viskha1 Member Posts: 5
Sent in for a quote on this van (list $46,610) - got an email back from dealer saying "best price will be $33,302". Is this possible - are they discounting so heavily? Tried calling back but they were closed so will wait to talk tomorrow. Bought my previous 2004 Limited at same dealer at very good discount but not in this range.
  • nitcnitc Member Posts: 13
He's probably not read your request properly. He's maybe misunderstood this as a quote for XLE AWD. Definitely, Toyota is not discounting this heavily.
