I know who you are talking about. I ordered my Sienna at the same dealer. My van expected to arrive this weekend after 7 weeks of waiting. My shopping experience was great but they offered an awful deal for my trade in.

CarMax in Dallas area (at least the Plano one) seems to be pretty aggressive in offering prices should your vehicle fall into their highly-desired category. They gave me $2000 more than a GMC dealer offered as trade-in for my 1999 F150 extended cab (43K miles). If I had traded in at the lower price I would have saved less than $700 in sales taxes, so I came out $1300 ahead. Not bad.

    Something to check out....

What's the lowest price anyone has negotiated on an XLE Limited AWD with the HO Package? Dealership name, city, and state? Joseph Toyota in Cincinnati, OH is offering to sell me one for $38,500. What's considered a good deal? Thanks I'm looking forward to your responses. "

    Response:

I live in Cincinnati and I received bids from all the dealers in town. Joseph Toyota (also known as Toyota of Cincinnati) was the second best price, but Dry Ridge Toyota (Just south of downtown Cincinnati about 20 minutes) beat their best price by over $2100 (including the value for my trade-in). If you just compare prices on the Sienna, Dry Ridge beat TOC's price by nearly $1350. I would give them a try too if you haven't.

In contrast to CT, there seems to be quite a lot of XLE's on the illinois dealers lots. Most of them outside of Chicago, not willing to budge on MSRP. I am looking for a LE with Pkg #11 (CM). Any info is appreciated.

After I committed to one dealer, a good offer was given to me by another, and I wanted to put out the info in case others in the region are interested.

For an XLE with pkg 16 (including Arctic Frost extra cost color), I was quoted $32,599 from Kern Toyota in Winchester, VA (thank you for the point of contact vaeagles). Their only add-on other than tax/tags/title is a $39 doc fee. I'd have taken this deal had I not committed to my local dealer earlier in the week, but with my deal I have the convenience of some owner benefits that my local dealer (within 2 miles) provides that will even out the $400 price difference. I found Kern Toyota to be very easy to deal with by phone.

Another competitive offer came from Springfield Toyota that offered an XLE pkg 16 (non Arctic Frost) for $32,895 or an XLE pkg 14 (non Arctic Frost) for $31,866. Again, very easy to deal with either by phone or e-mail.

Some dealers in the VA, DC, MD area are still at or above MSRP, and several are starting to drop $800-$1000 below sticker. In my shopping, I found the best prices at the two dealerships listed above, and my dealer, Miller Toyota in Manassas.

Sorry for ignoring you - I've been traveling and I'm behind on the boards. Not that I can keep up with all the deals anyway :-)

Thanks for the comment about differences in invoice prices due to regional fees. To those shopping in the Southeast (or Gulf States), do a search on Town Hall for SET to get an idea of the kinds of dealer added options and fees added by these two captive distributors. In the rest of the US, Toyota distributes the cars, so there's no $400 wax jobs to contend with.

About TMV - that's updated at least monthly and reflects what the average buyer is paying in your area. An educated Town Hall shopper should be able to do better in most markets, even on a highly sought after Sienna.

The year is winding down all too fast; should be some good deals to be had the next 4 or 5 weeks!

I have changed my mind on the XLE #1 (CP), does not have side curtain air bags which my wife insists we have. Do not want to go up in packages, so we have decided on the LE #7, no additional options.

I have decided I will not pay more than $26,000 (which I believe is fair), I am having some difficulty getting down to that price. The closest quote I have is $26,300.

Has anyone in the Gulf States (Texas) beat $26,000 recently, if so please let me know

If you want to be mean, march into your local dealership an hour before closing on New Year's Eve. All the better if it's been raining or snowing for 72 hours.

You just might have an easier time getting the deal you want, but it won't necessarily be better than one you could get at any other time.

In fact, if you REALLY want to be mean, and can wait until then, try 30 minutes before kick-off on Super Bowl Sunday.

    P.S. Glad you're back.....

I have a deal on an LE8 with BG package for $25,050 plus TT&L. The dealer, Champion in Corpus Christi, had to order it, since the ones they have sitting on the lot have "$400 wax jobs" as well as $1,000 faux wood appliques on the dash.

You should be able to get well under $26,000 on an LE7 with no options. Actually, I think they all have the AM package #1. Take Edmunds invoice ($23,021), add the TDA and MAF of about $600 that the dealers refuse to negotiate on. Add $300-500. Send that price to dealers in your area via e-mail. See what comes up. $24,000 is 4% over (Edmund's) invoice, and is attainable.

I found that Red McCombs in San Antonio has the most aggressive internet department in terms of pricing and trying to beat deals you have on the table. Always get something in writing, with "out-the-door" price, including TT&L, document fees, prep fees, etc. before agreeing to a deal, especially if you're going to drive far to get a deal.

Red McCombs is $250 below my local dealer, but I'm not driving to San Antonio (two hours) for that price.

I test drove on Christmas Eve and then let the dealer stew a few days, and sent a fax or two.

We did the deal on New Years Eve and I figured the dealer was glad to add another sale to the sold column before year end.

Later my salesperson told me that Nissan had extended the quota deadline that year to Jan. 7th or something :-)

I'm know I left too much money on the table, but you just can't beat the folks who sell 'em every day. You can beat the next guy's deal easily enough though!

Are you pricing a base LE7 OR an LE w/ package #7 (airbags+Traction/VSC)? I got the impression from your initial post that you were pricing an LE w/#7.

Edmunds invoice would be 24737 + the $600TDA fee mentioned by corpus for a total of $25,337. The offer of $26300 would be about 3.8% over that. That would be a fairly decent price IMO. Your $26000 target would be about 2.6% over 'invoice'. You might try $26100 (flat 3% over 'invoice') and see what kind of response you get.

If your wife insists on side/curtain airbags, they are also available on package #4 which invoices for about $1k less than #7. But you lose the Trac/VSC.

Corpus is definitely talking about the LE7 with package #1 (AM). His quote of 24,000 is about right -- I paid 24,250 a few weeks ago here in the Boston area for that package.

Appreciated all the tips on this board. I am getting my XLE tomorrow! In my dealing with the dealership, I was able to find a piece info which would explain the difference.

                    Dealerinvoice EdmundsInv MSRP
    Base 25,150 25,150 28,260
    options
    Del,Proc&Hndlx 575 540 575
    Admin 575 0 0
    Fuel Charge 4.06 0 4.06

Obviously, dealers are being charged 575 (admin) by Southeast distributor and dealer invoice is actually higher than that on Edmunds. One dealer faxed me his invoice sheet which contains the total invoice he paid and that number equals the total of above dealer invoice I obtained from another dealer. This really makes believe that dealer has higher invoice than Edmunds in SE. Hope my message would be of help.

you got a great deal on that van! Good job. I got something similar through a friend of a friend deal w/ Toyota.

Was all nego. through the internet or face to face? Outside of the deal I went w/, all email responses were a joke. Maybe it's just the area in NC.

Do you have your van yet? I saw your one post where you say " the factory will make our van". I was under the impression that you cannot order one from the factory, but rather receive one on allocation== meaning that when rolls off the line like the one you want, if it is for your region, you get it. Is the right?

The negotiations were all via e-mail with the two primary dealers I was working with after sifting through about eight to ten replies. A third dealer (recommended on this board) wasn't responsive via e-mail, so I called and had a 5-minute phone conversation with him. He got back to me a few days later with the lowest price for my exact vehicle, but it was after I'd already committed to the dealer around the corner from me.

My deal was a bit of a surprise to me as my local dealer appeared unwilling to move on price, and I sent a thank-you e-mail last Saturday to him stating that I appreciated their time, but I had a better offer elsewhere for my second choice color. I told them they had the vehicle I really wanted (which was true), but I wasn't going to pay the $2100 difference in price just to have my favorite color. I put in the note what they could do to win my commitment, and I got a reply back on Monday saying that they'd meet the conditions I laid out, and we had a deal. I really was surprised as well as elated. Went in on Monday night and put down my deposit after playing around with one of the rear entertainment systems they had in a Sienna on the lot (to make sure it could play my backup copy DVD's of various kid movies).

This dealer had an allocation Sienna that met all my specs (and they'll install the auto-dim mirror), and it is supposed to be built next week and shipped the week after for a (hopeful) delivery by New Year's.

Overall, it was a pretty enjoyable process that was made much smoother because of my being armed with the info on Edmunds' site as well as in these forums.

Has anyone noticed on the Toyota web site when you type in different zip codes it tells you if the supply is limited or good. I live in Northern NJ and it says the supply on the LE 7 passenger is good. When I type in a MA code it does not provide that information. Has anyone bought from Hudson Toyota in NJ? They list 18 vehicles on the web site. I cannot imagine its accurate. Anyone recommend a Toyota dealer in the tri state area that will deal?

Try Motorworld Toyota in Wilkes Barre, PA. They will definitely deal. You can email me for the name of my sales manager. Marlene

So I added up the edmunds invoice price for a xle limited in gray with HF #5, floor mats and running boards and came up with around $32,900 before destination fee. However a local bay area dealer told me(of course)that this invoice price is way off--- its actually $34,200. I'm assuming, as one would expect, they are blowing smoke but i wanted to check that I hadnt left something off?
    Thanks.

Ask to see the official invoice.... better yet, ask them to fax you a copy :-)

Ad fees come immediately to mind, but not a grand's worth.

I'm looking to find a dealer who will work with a 3% over invoice deal in the western US. I currently live in Utah and haven't had much luck with the dealers here so far. Anyone know a good place to go? tdml68 do you have a contact for that dealer you worked with?

    Thanks -- mizer66

I compute Edmunds' invoice as $32,904, including the $540 destination charge.

Two weeks ago, while shopping in the Sacramento area, I saw two LE invoices at different dealerships. The regional advertising fees on them were $425 and $422. I have no idea why they were different, but would expect the fee to be the same, or very nearly so, on all Sienna models in the Sac and SF Bay areas.

Edmunds' invoice pricing is correct, but did not include that fee, or the small $6 charge for gasoline I also saw on each invoice. See my post #2623.

I checked with a local Chicago Toyota Dealer today and inquired in the negotiating room on a 2004 Sienna XLE Limited and he said that they are still selling at MSRP. They are throwing in 2 years of maintenance at no charge, which is a marginal incentive.

He mentioned the Toyota's production of AWD is only 2% of total production. I was looking for Navigation/DVD Entertainment and said that was even more rare. If I was intersted, it would be at least a 3 month production interval.

Has anyone received discounts off MSRP on an XLE Limited AWD w/ NAV/DVD in the Chicago or surrounding markets.
  • ksarpolksarpol Member Posts: 2
Carmax in Kenosha, WI is selling for approx. $1000 below MSRP. I didn't buy my XLE from them, but I was able to negotiate a lower price from a local dealer.

At the time of this posting carmax.com has a vehicle very close to what you are looking for.
  • wolfman12wolfman12 Member Posts: 8
    Hello ksarpol,

I was wondering if you could post the name of the dealer you used in the Chicago area to procure your Sienna. Also, did you get an XLE or an XLE Limited?

    Thanks!

Picked up our Blue Mirage AWD XLE limited with DVD and NAV yesterday. Went through an autobroker who found the car in six weeks. $2500 off TMV Edmunds listed price. Even with her fee, it was well worth it! The van is beautiful...it looks like the interior of our Lexus GS300!
  • njbaran99njbaran99 Member Posts: 69
Did you find the same challenge in working with Dealers stating that the limited allocation of the XLE Ltd AWD w/ Nav/DVD was driving the price closer to MSRP?

Can you e-mail me (via Edmunds) the autobroker you used? Maybe I can find some in Chicago Area to get a similar deal? Did dthe $2500 off MSRP include the Autobrokers fee?

Please post your Net Price before local tax and doc fees.

Agree with your comment on the Sienna XLE Ltd Being the Lexus of Minivans.
  • ksarpolksarpol Member Posts: 2
The dealer was Toyota of Naperville. The car was a plain XLE, not an XLE Limited.

keep in mind that a dealer can tell you any price, but they have to be able meet the order. They can beat a price by $1000, but if they can't supply a vehicle, than all they are doing is taking you out of the buying market

re: deals at Wellesley Toyota -- send an e-mail to the address in my profile and I'll give you the details of my deal with them

I contacted every Toyota dealership I could find in the greater Seattle area with a price that was well below MSRP but still allowed a 5% profit for the dealer. Every one of them practially laughed me off the lot saying they didn't need to sell them for anything less than MSRP because demand far exceeded the supply. I was however able to get a dealer to give me the following deal:
2004 Sienna XLE w/ Option Pkg 12 (Arctic Frost Pearl) for $31,000. That is $1,135 off MSRP and the dealer also tossed in the Z1 trim package.

Has anyone in Washington state been able to find a better deal? Regardless of locale, am I selling myself short if I settle for this deal?

Congrats on getting the new car! That's great. Sounds like you were satisfied with your experience and price.
Can you please let me know what dealer you used? I am finally really shopping around now and seem to be getting the run around. The internet sales people don't understand the insights and info people share on the internet and think they can still play price games. I've e-mailed and called several dealers in Sacramento/Bay area so we'll see what their responses are. Is everyone having as difficulty trying to find their specific options as I am? I'm looking for an XLE AWD with option GK (leather only); it's seriously impossible to find in No. Cal unless I special order which I may have to do. Thanks everyone for being here.

Thanks to everyone whose postings here helped me in negotoiation with the dealers.
For an XLE AWD WIth Pkg #17,Wireless Head phones,Accessory #Z1 MSRP (35231) I paid 32675 + Tax + Tag (No Processing Fee or any other fee))
Edmunds Invoice Price comes to around 31150
Dealer stated Invoice price was 31706.
So looks like I paid around 5% over Edmunds invoice price and 3% over Dealer invoice price.
The fleet manager laughed at my offer and just returned my initial deposit. But I started to walk out (telling them that next stop was a
Honda Odyssey dealer),and the manager called me back and said that today was my lucky day(whatever!)
The main thing that aided my negotiations I think was that somehow this dealer ended up with 3 XLE AWD and the snow probably kept people away this week end.I didn't find too many XLE AWD in the internet inventory of other dealers in the DC area.He did not want to negotiate on any of the other options I wanted like a DVD system. He wanted to charge me $2000 for it and I refused.I also took the lifetime maintenance package comprising of "free oil changes ( I will provide the oil filter)/car wash/discount on parts/scheduled maintenance" at any of his locations for $810.
I think I paid a bit too much ($895)for extended warrranty (Toyota Gold service plan 6yr/75000 $50 deductible). The finance guy tried to add the plan for a initial quote of $1395 and I wasn't sure of the exact cost for the plan from Toyoyta at that time.(hadn't fully done my homework on them).Anyways after a bit of haggling got it down to $895.

    Comments welcome.
  • steverstever Guest Posts: 52,454
The extended warranty is cancellable, but that price doesn't sound too bad. Assuming you want it :-).

I'm personally not a fan of maintenance packages, but I've never seen one w/ a parts discount rolled in either. The Edmunds Maintenance Guide will tell you what we think your scheduled maintenance should cost as a comparison.

Considering what a full size SUV with AWD/4WD would cost, it's a killer value.

    Congrats on the new ride!
