My quote, $26768 was supposed to be including the cargo tray and the day/night auto mirror. Like I said, I confirmed this price with the color/options so many times before I made my trip out there. The floor sales person was surprised to see the quotes intially and confirmed it with the internet sales immediately. We continued on when he confirmed there was not a "mistake" on the price, but at the end the "desk" stopped the processing and said they simply could not sell.
I've already made a complaint at BBB. I figured that I could waste an a Saturday afternoon to go out there, I could take 20 minutes to make a complain.
I will post who I end up buying a car from when I do. But I already know 2 dealers around my house who was able to offer $26768. If Riverside had told me the price would be that without the accessories, I would simply get it from a dealer 5 min away from my house.

Try calling the GM during the weekday (weekends are crazy).

However, it's true that it's close to cost (26,768). Their floor manager must have felt confident that their odysseys would sell this weekend, therefore, they didn't want to lower the price too much.

How about some other places (I've had great experiences at Sierra Honda and Spirit Honda-- with their internet/fleet managers). At Spirit the internet/fleet guy gave us a great price and let us add on accessories for their cost. for ex, cargo tray was about 90. Otherwise, just get a better price (and there has been better by a little bit for the EX-L's without Nav/RES) and buy the accessories on-line.

You are right. He corrected his statement later on. But theirs is quite expensive comparing to what we see on this board.
  • totorototoro Member Posts: 5
Sierra Honda was willing to match your deal (26600 + 1250 warranty)back then, but not anymore when I called a couple of days ago. At first the sales person said he could do it, but called back later on in 20 minutes and said their cost had gone up very recently and would only be able to sell the car for additional $500.
Just like you said, they didn't have that much inventories anymore and felt they could sell at a better price.

I just purchased an '06 Odyssey EXL-RES from Willis Honda in Burlington, NJ on 9/4/06 for 28,676.00 (includes destination) Tax & Tags addt'l. This included wheel locks, splash guards, & the cargo tray (approx $400.00 worth of extras at the installed price. :)
The price was quoted on 8/31 from an internet sales reply that I had sent. No problem with them honoring the price when I actually went there. Very friendly staff and they didn't pressure me to but the extended warranty.
  • myen2myen2 Member Posts: 15
So sorry-- I hope that you do end up with what you want!

Well, give a call to Spirit Honda (first check their online inventory)... ask specifically for the guy who is (both) the internet and fleet manager (he's been there for 6 years). He was very pleasant to deal with when I helped my father get his Pilot 2 wks ago (look on the Pilot thread). They had a whole bunch of Ody's on the lot back then. There's also an internet saleswoman who was very professional at weir canyon honda. She was willing to beat any quote. This past weekend they would subtract $500 from their best quote.

So far I have a few companies that I have read about:

    Hondacare.com 8/120/0 = $1505
    Warrantydirect.com 7/100/0 = $1309 "bumper to bumper"

Any others...can anyone tell me the pros and cons to each. Any others I should look into. We are military so we are guaranteed to have moved in the time that we own this car

    Thanks for your help!

There's a separate thread on this topic. Bottom line is get the Honda warranty but at a lesser price (about $1250).

You should be able to get a touring for about 34,000 becuase they are stuck with alot of them. Let's hope Honda puts out a new incentive soon for you.

Maybe you should try Rock Honda out in Fontana. I got a great quote from the internet manager out there. They seem to have some inventory. Also note that alot of Hondas built stateside are shippped to San Bernadino CA. for So. Cal distribution.

rock honda mr ed in the internet dept lied to me. he told me AFTER i told him what 1 dealer quoted me if he can at least match it. he hemmed n hawed and told me sorry we dont have any EXs in the lot, i mean....wtf? i'll never do business with rock. was even thinkin abt filing a complaint with the bbb. their svc dept sucks too. they overcharge customers for unnecessary services and the mechanic turnover rate is high, they keep hiring unexperienced mechanics. dont service your car there
  • totorototoro Member Posts: 5
My story with Rock Honda was:
9/2 The internet sales guy said they would be able to sell the EXL to me at $26768 with no accessories. At that time Riverside was able to beat it with the same price including accessories.
9/3 I got a email quote good for 48 hrs: $26644 for an EXL. After the experience with Riverside, this quote was very attractive. But I was out all day so did not see the email until 10pm.
9/4 I called them back at 9:30am to find out that they've already sold ALL of their EXL and if I still want to purchase a Odyssey from them, I could choose Touring or ones with RES...

I guess I should give them the benefit of the doubt that although the guy said they had MANY inventories, it is POSSIBLE that they sold all the cars in one day. Hehe.

I didn't feel like I could trust this internet guy from just phone conversations, but overall the Rock Honda experience was still better than Riverside because at least they did not promise something they cannot deliver right before I left the house.

Congrats and great price. I paid $33,947 w/o TTL for the Silver Pearl over Grey. We have racked up about 7,000 miles in a little over 3 months and this thing rocks! You're gonna love it.
  • zzvelikzzvelik Member Posts: 8
I had the opposite experience with Rock Honda. I initially started with the same sales guy and was switched over to a very clever young fellow who never said no during the whole negotiating ordeal. He not only beat the lowest price I've seen anyone on this or the odyclub thread get, but also made it a good overall experience. I believe they still had about 3 tourings & 1 EX left on Saturday and it's worth noting that they offered me a very good deal on a 2007, but I opted for the 2006 instead due to the way below invoice price & financing.

I hope to do business with Rock Honda again in the future with the same young guy who'll most probably be a top manager by then.

    Hi guys!

I have gotten the lowest quote of $30,500 (among four dealers, Norm Reeves-Cerritos, Sierra, Diamond Bar and Metro Honda) six months ago for a 2006 Honda Odyssey EX-L with Navigation and DVD. Is that a good price or should I expect less now. Please let me know because I am looking to buy pretty soon. Thank you all very much. :D
  • ramantsramants Member Posts: 12
You would think that you should be able to get a little lower now, however, you have a great price there for an EXL w/ nav & ent. I paid $28,696(included wheel locks, cargo tray & splash guards) for an EXL-ENT + ttl. The Nav is about 2,000 more so that would put me at $30,696. I'd haggle a little and see if you can grab $200 less. Hey, any bit helps - you can use it for accessories.

I'm looking for an 06 EX in the Cincinnati area. Does anyone know of good deals around here, or within a couple hundred miles? Best internet quote from local dealers so far is $25,556 (including dest); does that sound reasonable for this area?
  • cccompsoncccompson Member Posts: 2,382
Prices in Ohio have, over the past couple of years, tended to be among the best in the country. I don't know about inventory there but my store here in Columbus has been out of '06 Odysseys for about a month.

While your quote is not, perhaps, the cheapest recently posted here, it is a pretty good number and may well reflect your local market. It's not likely that you'll do appreciably better by going long distance. Try to drive the price down by $250 by having them waive the (recently raised from $100) doc fee.
  • fx35awdfx35awd Member Posts: 218
I have a thought regarding pricing in different areas of the country. Why can't we price match a price given in California to a price in Ohio or vise versa when the dealer buy the same exact car from the manufacture at the same price? I was told here from several Honda dealerships in Southern California that they buy a certain car from the manufacture for the same price. So if this applies then you should be able to purchase the 2006 Honda Odyssey EX for $24,000 because my cousin purchase it for this price three weeks ago in Southern California . I hope this helps. :)
  • cccompsoncccompson Member Posts: 2,382
Oh, we as consumers can certainly try to price match but dealers will only do it when there is a reasonable possibility that a sale will go elsewhere. Example: lots of folks from the Midwest retire to Florida where doc fees are notoriously high. Now if a parent says to a Florida dealer, "Listen, my kid in Indiana can get this for me for X dollars," it might drive the Florida price down because an Indiana sale could well happen.

However, there are too few of these situations for the new automobile market to be driven nationally by the lowest price dealers (not to mention the fact that an out of state transaction typically will involve some travel costs for a buyer - a fact of course known to dealers). For now, street prices are determined locally.

    Hi,
I bought a Honda Odyssey (EX-L) and they charged me warranty of $1855 for 80K/6 years (Honda Care). A dealer in Florida (Jay Honda - http://www.jayhondacare.com/) is selling the same for $785. Has anybody bought Honda warranty from this dealer (especially from California)? And anybody knows if once you buy the car and warranty from your local dealer can you go and ask to cancel the warranty? Any experience anybody has regarding this? The website for Jay Honda says you can cancel the warranty from Honda within the first 60 days.

    Thanks a lot in advance.

I had a terrible experience last night at Route 22 Honda in Hillside, NJ. I called to find out their inventory on a 2006 Odyssey EX and a price. I was told they had 5 on the lot and the price was $24,901 plus tax and doc fee. I said "Ok, I will be in tonight" and I was told to see a certain manager.
When I got there, the manager was busy, so I talked with a salesman. I told him I was a repeat customer from 2003 and told him what I wanted. He then said they didn't have any 2006's on the lot and the person on the phone "must have looked the 2007 models"
So after about 30 minutes, we discussed a price if he could it from another dealer. Now, the price was $27,060!!!!!!! He said " I don't know who said $24,901, that's too close to invoice" I was so mad, I just got up and walked out after saying how horrible my experience was. Avoid this dealer, I will from now on . They lied just to get me there and acted as if my phone call was a mystery.

Thank you very much sammy2074. I really appreciate that you opened my eyes and gave me advice to cancel the warranty and try on the internet.

I found out a ultimate deal for the top of the line warranty 8 years/120K for (do you believe this) 1231$. So now I will be saying more than 600 bucks and get a waaaay better warranty (should increase my car resale significantly!).

    (a MA dealer)

I just love the internet. Thanks everybody and watchout for those dealers.

Hope this helps for you to be Odyssey owners - this car is just just great - go get one today - but don't pay too much.
  • odsisgr8odsisgr8 Member Posts: 4
You can cancel your HondaCare warranty within the first 60 days. If you paid too much to the dealer - cancel it from the dealer and get it from the internet.

It looks like I missed the boat on this one. I waited too long and I have managed only to find a ew 06 EX-Ls in the area (Southern WI and Northern IL). Unfortunately, color is pretty important to me, and all that appears to be left is the sage brush, which I don't much like. I could get one for $27,100 but I'd rather get a color I like. I was quoted $29,100 for an 07 EX-L but i'm not gonna bite. Any idea when Honda might do a round of incentives the 2007 Odyssey? Christmas time?

BE VERY CAREFUL and be sure to read all the fine print.
I was fed the same line when I got my 2006 Toyota Sienna LE but reading the fine print of the genuine Toyota Platinum Extended Warranty, I find that the top of the line extended warranty from Toyota can be transferred to another person ONLY if it is a private party sale from me to another person .
Honda may very well have more integrity than Toyota but everyone should be most careful when buying ANY extended warranty from ANY company. :shades:
  • bargains4mebargains4me Member Posts: 3
You can cancel anytime and any warranty you buy from the finance guy of the dealer at the time of buying car is always too high or overpriced. Remember the finance guy works on a small salary and a big commission on warranty/alarm/tint sales.
Try http://www.myhondawarranty.com which is Honda Care from Honda Motors and the prices are really cheap. Go for 0 deductible and 120 months warranty.

I have been shopping around for either an 06 EX-L RES or RES/NAV and have gotten quotes as low as 28,500 + TT & L for the EX-L RES and 30200 + TT & L for the NAV/RES and thought I would check out the stock at Jim Mcnatt Honda in Denton. They had a nice friendly saleswomen named Lauren that was helpful and they had 10+ 06's at various trim levels, but check out the quotes they gave me even after I told them what I already had. This is a cut and paste of my last email from them: (keep in mind this is BEFORE TT & L)

Am also trying to get an Odyssey EX in the NJ area. Have you had any success at any particular dealership. Appreciate any advice.
  • m_fordm_ford Member Posts: 10
I am wanting to get an Odyssey EX or EX-L w/DVD. So far I have been quoted on an EX by Brilliance Honda in IL for $24,750. And quoted $28,995 on an EX-L w/DVD by a dealer in MA. I know that I can probably get better even though Edmunds says that these are just about invoice. The dealers want to get rid of the 06's. Do you think these are good deals?

I just don't know how to really say can you do better. I guess just like that?

Does anyone know if Honda does specials around Columbus weekend?

I also need to find a really good interest rate. Where has everyone found they got a great rate?

I went was in contact with several dealerships in Monmouth County, NJ and I was very happy w/ Academy HOnda..they were the nicest people..even though I didn't buy one as of yet, (I have to wait 5 months to get rid of my truck because it's worth a lot less than I owe)..the other dealerships were trying to give me a really low trade-in and they just wanted to sell my an ody right away whereas Academy HOnda was the only dealership to say to me the best thing to do is wait the 5 months and come back to see him..

You mentioned that the additional charges were Tax and Tags. Were there other charges such as document processing fee, NJ tire tax, and on-line processing fee?
  • ramantsramants Member Posts: 12
State sales tax$1,677.75 + title-$73.50 + Doc fee-$125.00. On line proc fee waived. No NJ tire tax fees, but I live out of state. Good luck to you

I purchased from Rusty Wallis on the east side of the metroplex. I called and asked for the internet sales mgr, and did all of the negotiation over the phone (only talked about driveout price). He had my van (EX-L w/ DVD & NAV), splash gaurds, tint, & wheel locks for $33,500 (includes all fees taxes, etc.) You may be able to get for a couple hundred dollars cheaper from what I read in these posts.

    Also, **AVOID** Lute Riley Honda!!!

Lute Riley said they had my color (after verifying 3 times over the phone). I made an appointment, and drove over an hour to get there. Then they told me they don't have the color or trim I requested. They made some excuses, then tried to negotiate anyway. Bottom line, they offered $33,900 driveout with none of the above accessories, or $34,500 with the accessories...So you can see they were more expensive and had little respect for me as a customer.
  • mabazamabaza Member Posts: 21
Anyone bought an 2007 yet? What kind of prices are you seeing?
  • m_fordm_ford Member Posts: 10
I've been negotiating for weeks now on an EX and I am tired of doing this. My current offer is $24,758 including destination, then add tax, title, doc, plate transfer.

Is this a good price? From what I've read its under invoice according to Edmunds.

I'm trying to get them to throw in a cargo mat and all weather mats too.
  • donnyrosedonnyrose Member Posts: 11
    m_ford,

Price depends on region... where do you live?

Also -- the price quote is for the 2006, right?

(For the NY Metro area, that price for on 06 is $500 below the lowest quote I was able to get.)
  • m_fordm_ford Member Posts: 10
I live in IL and it is for an 06. All other dealers that gave me quotes were $1,000 more with the excpetion of one that was $200 more than that quote.
  • tom_cnytom_cny Member Posts: 1
I bought from Carbone in the Utica area. Paid $200 under invoice via Internet Manager. Best deal I was able to find in our area.
  • geechigirlgeechigirl Member Posts: 3
I just bought a 2006 EX-L RES & NAV for 31,700 OTD. This price included wheel locks and splash guards. I hope this was a good deal. The folks at Hendrick Honda were really nice. I went through the internet and it was seamless.
  • advantisadvantis Member Posts: 5
Sounds like you got an outstanding deal.

In IL, the best Ive gotten was $31,221 including destination for a 2006 EX-L RES & Nav.

The same guys was also willing to sell me the 2007 version for $400 more at $31,600.

    For a 2006 Touring w/ RES & NAV they want $34,800

    Anyone else?
  • fx35awdfx35awd Member Posts: 218
Hello everyone I just purchased a 2007 2007 EX-L Navi & DVD with four miles on it at Robertson Honda in North Hollywood in California, at 31,950 before tax, lic. & fee. Initially, it was 31,600, but since it had cross bar (roof rack) and mud guards so had to pay an extra $350 on the price I was quoted at. Over all, I think I still got it below kelly blue book posted invoice. They were great. Every one there was nice, friendly and patient. I would recommend anyone to this dealership in a heart beat. Every else were quoting from 300 to 1500 over invoice. I thought I share these information with you folks. :D
  • jenajena Member Posts: 6
I bought an '06 for $24,300, and I think there was a post of someone paying $24,000 (both including destination). However, since '06 inventories are rapidly shrinking, your price might be quite reasonable now.
