Crown Honda Charlotte NC '07 Touring RES/Nav OTD 36,650.57. I am sure they will attempt to burn you on the wheel locks, mud flaps and cross bars...ridiculous. What good is a luggage rack without cross bars? Plastic mud flaps?

    A big game
  • hatteras56hatteras56 Member Posts: 4
    wheel locks included as well

I'm about to pull the trigger on this deal. Other dealers in the SE Wisconsin area were quoting $29,500 and up, so this is by far the lowest quote, but that doesn't mean its the best deal.

    Thoughts?

Just bought a 2006 with RES list 32900 for 28500 at Bankston Honda in Lewisville TX. This was the best price from 7 dealers

Our family is shopping for an Odyssey in New England. We just had a new baby :) and our fabulous Honda Civic no longer fits us all.

We're completely going crazy trying to decide if we should buy a Used Honda Certified Odyssey (with the 4.99% financing special) or get a new 2006 Honda Odyssey for $27,700. We were leaning towards the new car, but now we got a quote from a non-Honda dealer for a used 2005 Honda Odyssey EXL (w/DVD) with 33,000 miles for $22,995. However, this would *not* be a Honda Used Certified vehicle. We did a Carfax search and the car was apparently leased for 2 years.

    Which deal would you choose?
  • cccompsoncccompson Member Posts: 2,382
It's hard to say without more specific information on each vehicle. Which model is the new '06? I'm guessing it's an EX-L.

Generally speaking, used Hondas are not the greatest values in the world. Here, for instance, your cost for 33,000 less miles (and much less warranty coverage) is $4700.

I'd be more inclined to go with an '07 EX-L for a bit more money.
  • mom2alimom2ali Member Posts: 3
Oops, I put in the wrong amount in my original message. We are deciding between a new 2006 Honda Odyssey LX for $22,700 or a used 2005 Honda Odyssey EXL (w/DVD) for $22,900. We want to spend no more than $23,000 for a new care. Which would you choose?
  • donnyrosedonnyrose Member Posts: 11
Is your price quote of $27,700 for an EX-L w/ DVD or for an EX-L or for an EX?

In any case, you would be paying about $0.07 / mile for the new car and not have any of the risk of the used car (i.e. the risk that the lease holder never changed the oil and abused the car -- which would not be in a Carfax report).

The next round of incentives from Honda comes on October 3. If you can wait, it may be worth it to see if Honda offers incentive financing on new Odyssey's next month.
  • cccompsoncccompson Member Posts: 2,382
Easy choice - go with the '06 LX. That said, again, you should be able to buy an '07 (with its improved transmission) for not much more.
  • mom2alimom2ali Member Posts: 3
Thanks everyone! It seems that the '06 LX is the way to go. I'll look into the '07 as well. We considered the Toyota Sienna very briefly, but we've had such good luck with our Hondas that we'd feel like traitors switching to a Toyota. We are "brand loyalists" defined :D

Ok I have been dealing with 3 dealers for pricing in this is what I got please tell me which one i should go with
    BUY 2006 Odyssey LX: 22,400
    BUY 2006 Odyssey EX: 26,000
    Here are the lease quotes:
    2007 Odyssey LX 3 years w/ 36K miles
$353.01 per month, inc sales tax
    $1534.01 due at lease sign

    2007 Odyssey EX-L 3 years w/ 36K miles
$435.36 per month, inc sales tax
    $1691.36 due at lease sign
OR should I wait til Oct 3rd when any new incentives might come out and risk the chance of losing the 2006 LX's (there are only 3 left in my area)
  • hansiennahansienna Member Posts: 2,312
BUY the new Odyssey with the better warranty and knowledge that you are not buying someone else's problems. ;)
Don't buy the Sienna even though the 2007 Sienna will have MORE power than the 2007 Odyssey. :shades:
  • cccompsoncccompson Member Posts: 2,382
I'm no expert on leasing but neither lease quote sounds all that great.

It's VERY hard to see how an EX is worth $3600 more than an LX.
  • nazirvnazirv Member Posts: 15
I just went to Atamian Honda in Tewksbury, MA and they have a 2006 Odyssey EX base. Does $26,500 OTD (including tax, lic, fees, etc) sound like a good deal? I know the 2007 is out, but they won't budge on that with the price.
  • mabazamabaza Member Posts: 21
For those of you who've taken Honda APR incentives in the past, can you share with us what types of special loan fees processing fees you encountered.

    Thanks :D
  • cccompsoncccompson Member Posts: 2,382
None - when the financing was through American Honda Finance.
  • amyw2amyw2 Member Posts: 12
Thanks for your replys on my previuos port with Lease or buy I have decided against leasing and I am going to buy an Odyssey very soon-I think I am going to wait til Oct 3rd when the new incentives come out---Does anyone know if Honda has EVER offered financing incentives in the past? Am I wasting my time waiting til the 3rd and nothing will come of it?? My goal is to get an EX for 22k-what are my chances???
  • cccompsoncccompson Member Posts: 2,382
Honda has offered cut rate financing a number of times. Example: bought my wife's '05 Pilot on 1/3/05 at a 2.9% AHFC rate for 60 months.

There's no way to know in advance what Honda might offer in connection with a Columbus Day promotion.

There's absolutely no chance whatsoever that you can buy a new Odyssey EX for $22,000. If you mis-typed and meant LX, well, maybe an '06 but not an '07.

Great info. Did the "out the door" price include the stsre sales tax of 6.25%?

    Thanks, Ray

I just signed P&S on a 2007 Odyssey EX for $26K (including destination) plus tax. Is this a good deal? Can anyone share their experience?
    Thanks!

    Hi rampants,
Could you pls elaborate your price list a little bit in detail. You said you got your 06 odyssey EXL-RES with a price 28676.00 (includes destination) Tax and Tags addt'l. I'm guessing your price could be:

    Base price(include destination fee) 28676 +
    Tax and Tags.

Is this right? I'm expecting for your reply in your convenience. Thanks a lot.

Would anybody give some price info.about 06 Odyssey, EX-L model, Phoenix area, AZ? Thanks a lot.

What in general do the dealers do in terms of
year end close out on existing inventory. I have guessed at 27708 base price(edmunds) less 500 cash back to dealer less Hold back 950 then some discount for the year end??? 2000-3000 to get it off the lot, to make room for new 2007s, Thus somewhere around (23800-24800??? including destination) Plus taxes tags, dealer doc fees
Any insite to the year end stuff..Tnx BobFlyer

The key will be to find any remaining 06 EXL's. My local dealers were cleaned out by the last week of August. With cash back and dealer holdback, you could expect a deal around 26,500 with destination. The 24-25K your thinking about is not very realistic - the dealer is not going to sacrifice much more than 200-300 out of pocket on a model that did not change from 06-07. However, it can't hurt to throw out a ridiculous offer - every dealer has different incentives and every sale is situational.

    Good luck....

I got same model (EX-L 2007 Navi & DVD) on 23rd Sep for $32,700 (including Car Mats, Wheel locks, Roof rack, Free First Oil service) from Scott Robinson Honda. I think it's bit over the price of what you got the deal for. Their actual invoice price is $32869, that's what I was told. Also the dealer was very helpful while the deal was in progress. I just thought I will post it so that other folks may find this deal useful to compare with other dealers.

    Hi Shawn,

I purchased an '06 EXL -RES for $28,473(that includes dest.)
tax and tags addt'l. I bought mine in about the third week of August of this year.

Prior to purchasing I went back and tracked the prices posted here for '06 EXL -RES and the median price using about a June through August window was just over $28,500(indcluding Dest.) with tax and tags addt'l.

    HTH

Congratulation on your newborn!! I had the same dilemma when deciding to buy a used or new one as well. After some time thinking and researching I decided to buy a new one over a used one because the used one is only a few thousand dollars less. These vans tend to keep their value. Also I would prefer to buy the 2006 or even 2007 over the 2005 since that gives the manufacture some time to iron out some of the problems the early models might have and with that said, good luck on your purchase. :)
  • fx35awdfx35awd Member Posts: 218
I usually go with Kelly Blue Book invoice to have some kind of gauging on the negotiation portion and even that might some time be high I think. However, I would not believe what they said the invoice would be unless I have checked with Kelly Blue Book and the last five times I have purchased or helped some one purchased a car the dealerships' invoices have be exact amount to the dollar. If not, then it was some where within 20-50 dollars diffence only not hundreds of dollars. Within this early of the release of the 2007 models I still think you got a decent deal. I would not worry about it too much and enjoy the car and congratulation on your purchase. :D

    kw4,

I took eight people with luggage, including myself of course to Las Vegas, Nevada, this weekend totaling 500 miles and I did not notice the humming noise. I guess I did not look for it. However, I did feel the shudder. Over all the van is extremely quiet. I thought I was in my mother-n-law's Lexus or may be I am so used to my old Infiniti FX35. It is that quiet and I am not exaggerating. I will post it if I notice the droning or humming sound. I hope this helps. :)
  • fx35awdfx35awd Member Posts: 218
I guess there are rattles here and there, but I have some stuffs in my van, like the car seat and some of my daughters toys in the car. I guess I did not isolate it so I can find out the source. However, all the car is fairly quiet. Sorry i could not response much faster since I was off on Friday and off to my weekend Vegas trip.
  • fx35awdfx35awd Member Posts: 218
No, they will not budge nor will they honor a lower price which they quoted me six months ago for the exact model. Their excuse is they have less in quantity now so if I do not buy it some one else will so I ended up with a much better deal on the 2007. I like the 2007 model much better because it has the automatic door lock and unlock and some other features. The XM radio is great with the three months free service. The only down side for me is the Lazy Susan which was taken out of the 2007 and was installed in the Touring models.

What's the best deal I can expect to get on a 06 Odyssey EX in live in the Boston Area?
Also anyone deal with any good dealerships around here? :)
  • fx35awdfx35awd Member Posts: 218
A relative of mine purchased 06 Ody EX for 24,000, destination charge included, a month ago in California. I would think it would be the same price since all the dealers purhcase their automobiles from the manufacturer at the same price. You should shoot for 24k anyway. If they don't give you the price you are looking for try the 2007, you might find that it is just worth it because many dealerships are reluctant to sell you the 2006 at a discounted price you are hoping for.

fx35awd: Thank you for the information! It is comforting to hear that Honda may have addressed the humming/droning problem in the 2007 Odyssey. However, what is the "shudder"? Is it the transmission shifting? I read from another thread that the 2007 Odyssey has a new transmission (I believe it came from the Honda Ridgeline). Some folks complained that the 2007 shifted roughly such that it is very noticeable between gears. Is this true? Thanks.
  • gr1mgr1m Member Posts: 13
nooo...don't!! the LX is not worth it ;)
  • shawnxzshawnxz Member Posts: 11
    Hi Chim,
Thank you very much for your reply. I'm thinking to buy an EX-L model w/o DVD. One dealer gave me the price for EX-L is $27,508 while for EX-L RES is $28,946, which is almost 500 bucks more than your deal. So, I'll aim at a $500 cut for the price, which will be $27,000(include dest) + tax and tags..
I'm also hoping somebody else who had bought odyssey in Phoenix area would like to share his/her experience.

    Anyway, thanks again.
    Best regards,
    Shawn

What is the experience people have had from Riverside Honda? I have read good and bad. I am still negotiating a car through the internet and I would like to make a trip up there, but is still a ways from San Diego. Want to make sure they don't bait and switch. At least how well do they hold up to their internet quotes? Do they nickle and dime you to death on accessories you would expect, like car mats, mudguards, door protectors...etc? Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!! :)
  • fx35awdfx35awd Member Posts: 218
I am sorry to announce, but the droning and humming still occur. However, it is not as bad as it sounds. I pick up the word "shudder" from some where in this Honda Odyssey forum which describes when you decelerate down to 15 to 5 mph and the feel like some one gently bumps on the rear of your van. Some one did mentioned that the engine deactivates the three cylinders or something like that because when you actually let go of the gas pedal the "ecco" light usually goes on. As for the transmission shifting gears, I think it is very smooth. Does any one else have any comments on their 2007 regarding these issue? Please provide some inputs. Thank you.

I was the one having terrible experience with Riverside Honda. I eventually got the same thing for the same price from a El Monte Spirit Honda, 5 miles away from home.
In my experience I called them twice in the morning to confirm the price and the availability and another time in the afternoon before I drove out there. But at the end they just said they did not check the price carefully and did not realize they would be losing so much money if they threw in the accessories that I had originally asked for.
My advice is to negotiate a price without any accessories. Of course they will try to make money on the accessories. For things like cargo net and stuff that does not need to be installed, you could get it pretty cheap on the internet.
  • fx35awdfx35awd Member Posts: 218
You guys should try Robertson Honda in North Hollywood. I emailed like 20-25 dealership from San Diego to Ventura County and Robertson has the best price, below invoice. Yeah, I even tried Spirit Honda in El Monte, California, but they did not honor their pricing after several days off contacting and a trip out their dealership. They are the worse dealership to deal with in my experience. I dealt with the fleet department and had a horrible experience with them. They act as if they do not need your business and some one else will buy it if you don't buy it attitude. I would never buy a car from them ever.

Here in Central & southern Florida there are plenty of '06 Odysseys. Just bought a EX-L with Nav & Ent and automatic rear-view mirror and addl. third row sunscreens for $30,700. Also talked them out of the so called Administration Fee of $389.. This was Wilde Honda of Sarasota. Also , the experience was very professional.
  • bobflyerbobflyer Member Posts: 3
I have received a Quote for EX-L 2006 which includes some strange fees..They called it Doc fees and lemon law for $402. Has anyone in the south or elsewhere come across this approach? I feel that its an uncalled fee to prop up the profit margins?

    Any feedback appreciated. Thanks BobFlyer

    I did call my local
County tax office in regards to fees for registering a vehicle, tax (6%)plus county fee $50.00, title fee($33.25, xfer of tag($4.30) is all they require.

Is there anyone know any dealer still have 2006 Honda Odyssey LX, is there anyone can get it at or below $22000
  • gfm1gfm1 Member Posts: 4
In Florida most dealers add on a Documentation or Adminisration or Proccessing (or whatever they call it) Fee. This is explained to cover their time and effort to process your purchase. It is purely a bull____ fee. It is very negotiable and you can demand that it be taken off or NO SALE! Most of the time they will either eliminate it or at least reduce it substantially. The trick is to avoid talking about it until you have just about reached your final price. Then say " Sounds good, but if you eliminate the Doc Fees, we've got a deal". It's Pure Profit for them so don't take ANY excuses until they have given in.
  • sandiego99sandiego99 Member Posts: 6
Thanks for the replys. Actually I made calls yesterday and I found what I think is a good deal for a 2006 (of course would like the groups' opinion), so I want to pass along since this forum was very helpful in my negotiations. Here is what I got from Norm Reeves Honda in Cerritos:

    EX-L: 26758
    Doc: 45
    Title: 269
    Tax: 2077
    OTD: 29149

The car I had also came with the following acc.: Mudguards, tirelocks, crossbars.

Hope this helps someone out there. Please give me your thoughts on this deal. Thanks :)

I have been doing a ton of research on what I thought I wanted to buy an Odyssey EX 2006 but after reading about all the issues: shudder, droning, brakes- I am starting to rethink the Odyssey and go for the Sienna-thoughts? Is the Odyssey really the #1 minivan-even with all the problems?
  • hansiennahansienna Member Posts: 2,312
Good questions. Most people just accept the experts at CR and Edmund's opinions instead of reading what the owners report on their vehicles. :shades:
  • fx35awdfx35awd Member Posts: 218
I think you should go test drive the two vans then determine on your purchase. If the shudder and droning bothers you that much then take that into a factor and make your decision then, but don't decide on what you read. I think you should experience it yourself. That is just my opinion.
  • fx35awdfx35awd Member Posts: 218
    gfm1,

That is a good price. :D
  • fx35awdfx35awd Member Posts: 218
I still think it is high. I think they could knock off another 1500-2000. The added accessories you have on that vehicle should cost you around 300 to 400. You can check Handa.com. I bought a Honda Pilot from them three years ago and I used to think they have the best price in Southern California, but I found out it is actually Metro Honda in Clairemont is the one with the lowest price. This is based on three to four occasions of price quotes requesting from an average of six dealerships. :)
