I have to agree with Hangaralf1 on using the Internet to get to the best price in your given area. I filtered out about 8 dealers in my area who did not even have a clue about a reasonable price for a new Ody and were pretty indignant :surprise: when I told them they were not competitive with other dealers in the area.

Also if you are handy or have a friend who is handy don't get sucked into the simple options like wheel locks, crossbars, mats, nets yada yada when you go in. There are several sites you can order these accessories (Genuine Honda) for a lot less and have the parts shipped directly to you. ;)

    Here is a sample site:

    Happy shopping! :)

    Friends,

Just got at quote for 29,500 out the door for the EX - L. In NC this works out to around 28,250 +TTL + Doc fee depending on what the dealer uses for Document Fees ( I used 300 as my basis. For asking final prices I used the $27,975 +TTL and includes destination that was posted on this discussion board (Thx to my CA friends ;) ) as a starting point. I had emailed the dealers I had received quotes from that I was finalizing my negotiations as was going to buy in the next couple of days.

Note: The Dealer that gave this 29,500 out the door quote started at $30,747 out the door. Keep researching and they will start making better offers.

    Rock On and good luck!

Right now I can get an '06 EX for $26,126 (including $500 worth of accessories) or an '07 EX for $26,440 (with no accessories). Also, I could get an '07 EXL for $28,900. All of the above are just cost so TTL would be added to it. Which would you do? :confuse: I don't see where the difference would be worth it to get the '07 but then am I getting a bad price on the '06? These prices are different dealerships...

    Help!

    Hi,
I am planning to buy a 2006/2007 Honda odyssey, Ex-L with Nav and I live in Tustin (Orange County). Looks like you have got a very nice deal. Can you pass the person's details that you dealt with?? Thanks for the help..

How can you best leverage a cash purchase? I read somewhere that you should not mention it during negotiations if you plan to pay cash. Do dealers care one way or another?
  • cccompsoncccompson Member Posts: 2,382
The '06 EX quote is not all that great. Between the two, the '07 is a better choice as it is one year newer (you'll get the difference back when you go to sell it down the road) and it has some improvements.
  • cccompsoncccompson Member Posts: 2,382
Dealers can and do make money when they handle financing. While it really shouldn't impact the price, it certainly wouldn't hurt to not mention your form of payment prematurely.
  • bconsibconsi Member Posts: 18
Thanks for the note. I should have thought about the profit potential from financing.

    I welcome anyone's additional thoughts.

    Thanks.

hi everyone - just purchased a 2007 EX-L, with RES in Massachusetts...i think i got a pretty good deal:

$29,500 Base price ($500 below invoice)
    $1475 Tax(5%in MA)
    $298 Doc Fee
    $86 Title

    Total out the door $31,359
Hope that helps some of you... :)

Well we got the '07 EXL for $28,598 + TTL in the Seattle area with no accessories. I think this is probably a pretty good deal....

I just bought a 2006 new Odyssey EX without any accesories last weekend for $24,900+TTL here in Florida. That is $1,226 better than your deal. That was the best price I found, a lot of other dealers were in the $25,300-$25,600 range. The 2007 EX was quoted $2-$3K higher so for me it was not worth it to get the few improvements they did such as the tire pressure monitoring system. On the 2007 EX, the monitoring system doesn't even tell you which tire is low, so you would need to get out and test all of them to figure it out....not worth it in my opinion.

What sort of accesories are they adding on for $500? This is probably a dealer ploy to make more profit and you may be able to negotiate it off if you say you don't need them. I would email several other dealers in your area and get some more prices on any 2006's they may still have...you may find a better deal.
  • echeverechever Member Posts: 5
Sounds like a decent price. Is it possible to tell me where you got it from? That would be greatly appreciated.

Hi Everyone, I was wondering if any one has the same problem as I am having. The brake on the van is not as firm and I need to step it down much further to come to a complete stop and this is on a 2007 Honda Odyssey. I don't know if the brake line needs to be bled. I have a 2004 Pilot and it is much firmer than this Odyssey and it's close to three-years-old. My wife and I both feel it when we drive the van. I would appreciate some feed back from anyone. Thank you.

Just leased a Honda Odyssey EX, 2007. Paying $355 month for 12K miles. Just paid $1300 inception fees up front. I think it is a good deal.

Cooper13: Thanks! I've noticed on other postings that Florida seems to get better deals on car prices than here in Seattle. Not sure if it's an east vs west coast thing or what. They were not willing to budge on the 2006 price and the stock in the area was limited on the color interior we wanted. (fyi: different dealer than below)

Echever: We actually bought from Renton Honda. I always swore I'd never deal with them after a bad experience during a simple test drive 9 years ago, but we dealt with the internet department this time and they held up to their phone quote. I was very leary but pleasantly suprised. We were able to get it without accessories because it isn't here yet so they agreed not to add anything to it when it arrives. Good Luck!

Funny, my wife and I just had the same conversation this weekend. We have our 07 Odyssey for a few weeks and I drive it only on the weekend and I absolutely agree with you that the brakes are not very responsive. You really have to step on it to feel the braking power Our 99 Odyssey provided better braking feel. We are planning to take the car back to the dealer to have them take a look.
  • fx35awdfx35awd Member Posts: 218
You guys too? Yeah, normally we are able to stop our other vehicles before the cross walk, but with this van when we come to a full stop we find ourselves into the crosswalk or passing the crosswalk at one point. I know we have not change our driving habits. So I called the dealership close to my work place and they said there is nothing they can do to adjust the brake pedal, but recommended I should bring in the van to have a look. I suspect that either something wrong with the master cylinder or there is air in the brake line. What do you think?
  • kw4kw4 Member Posts: 13
Difficult to say. I did notice the brake issue when I was test driving the car. (We actually bought the car that we test drove.) However, the test drive was too short to confirm my initial feeling. I also thought the power steering was a bit too strong, thereby taking away some of the road feel. More importantly, I was so focused on trying to detect the infamous droning/humming noise, that I thought the braking and handling of the vehicle was acceptable. Hopefully, the dealer can tune the braking system, instead of having us change our driving habits.

Just realized you cannot email me and I cannot email you through this forum. Please look up the phone number of Norm Reeves Honda in West Covina, call and ask for the internet manager. If you get the Chinese girl, then that's the correct person :) She'll give you the price over the phone. I'm not allowed to post salespeople's names.

kris995: Thanks for the information. I haven't been able to come very close to your purchase price so far. I'll keep on pluggin away unless you have any hints. I think i'm talking to the internet sale manager??????
  • kris995kris995 Member Posts: 23
echever - I think they were trying to meet a quota for the weekend. I'm surprised they wouldn't still go for it though, maybe wait for a weekend when they're trying to meet another quota. I wish I could give you his name. Good Luck! Keep the board posted on what happens. :)

Hi, i'm new to posting on the forum but have been keeping up with the messages for a few weeks.
I was going to wait for the 2007 Sienna to come out to see what minor changes they have made to the vehicle before deciding between it and the Odyssey, but I will wait no longer because I'm sure I want the Odyssey and I am just going to have to deal with the pains of the PAX tires (I was hoping they would be rid of them in the 2007 model)!
This is my first time purchasing a car on my own. Only one dealership's internet department quoted me a price and it was without the NAV. Does anyone have any suggestions for me as a new vehicle buyer? What kind of price is good for a 2007 touring with Nav and RES in the DFW, Texas area? Any recommendations for dealerships? Any info would be of great help. :confuse:

Just drove the 2007 Odyssey. Thought I was in my Accord. Braking great and handled better than my 2006 4 cylinder accord. However, thought it was a bit loud, but had the 2nd gear on by accident on the highway. It went around 25mph turns more than 25mph. I also had no trouble pulling into a space. Better than the car and much better than 2002 Villager. My husband drove the 2006 Sienna. I was in back. Quiet and he said it responded nice. I thought there was a little sway, more like a van. Anyhow Toyota has all these extra packages, when we want only leather and moonroof. Honda, you just get certain groups and Leather always comes with a moonroof and dvd/and or navigator are separated for the packages so it ends up cheaper than the Toyota. Also better resale. Still too high for us. I got a good deal in May for my Accord. A lot of Accords, especially 4 cylinders in stock, all the colors. Maybe the high gas prices kept everyone away and inventories must have been high. Now, they want you to trade in a car for next to nothing. Of course since Ford is having so much trouble, they do not want to take a ford product. You are picking a fine product. I have had three honda's. The last one 98 I gave to my son rather than trading it. I traded in his 98 Ford escort which was mechanically falling apart. Wasn't going to wait to the engine caved in. My 98 v6 engine looks like new

Expand your internet search geographically. Seek quotes from at least 20 stores. Don't overlook stores in smaller markets. Make clear you are ready to buy NOW.

You will quickly have a short list of those offering the best prices. Just guessing, if you can come in at $500 over invoice or less, you will have done fine.

    Kris,

Sorry, I just saw your post that it was from Renton Honda. We too have contacted them through the internet dept. We'll see how they do.

Do you mind letting me know what the dealership was? We are in Issaquah, and are looking for an '06 EXL (not '07 because I want the lazy susan).

    Thanks,
    Jodi
  • kris995kris995 Member Posts: 23
Jodi - ya, the lazy susan would have been nice... The '06s seem to be in short supply. Bellevue Honda had quite a few '06 EXs and had a gold EXL with DVD they could get from another dealership, not sure which one, but they wanted more for it than the '07 EXL without DVD. I'd contact the Bellevue Honda Internet Department. It just happened they couldn't meet Renton Honda's price but I really liked them. Also, I know Renton Honda had just sold their last '06 EXL (which was what I had an original quote for)

Good Luck! (and keep the board posted) :)

Just I bought the 2007 Honda Odyssey EX with 28700 OTD in Locus Honda, Jacksonville, Florida, through internet, I got the several quotes for this model 2006 and 2007 with in florida, No one willing to give 2007 EX for 26000(include Med guard and HP) + TTL except Locus Honda. Initially Locus internet manager quoted for 26500 +TTL then I negotiated with 26000+ttl, finally she agrees this amount. Also I got 5.9% for 60 Months interest rate from Honda financing, the whole process took about 2 hours. I’m really recommending this place for buying future (only through internet). Also I thanks to this web site doing the grate job for sharing the valuable information.
    My detail summary:
Car price: 26000.00 (for 2007 EX)
    Florida Tax 7.0% + 2700.00
Doc 550 (in FL Huge fees) +
    Stamping Fees 28700.00 (OTD)

    Hi Everyone,

We are looking to buy in the next 4 weeks and we want to buy the 07 EX-L no Nav or RES my last quote was $29,179 + TTL(which is $498 Total including license and registration and or whatever other fees they charge + sales tax which is 6.25%) Do you think it is possible to get it for right around $28,000 + TTL. Does anyone know how much money the dealership or sales person makes or how much they actually buy the car for from Honda? :confuse:
  • dixiechick1dixiechick1 Member Posts: 4
So I am wondering about the brake situation has anyone found out if there is a problem? We are looking to buy the 07 EX-L within the next 4 weeks and that concerns us a little. :surprise:
  • jazzgirljazzgirl Member Posts: 1
We just purchased the 2007 Odyssey EX-L with RES and paid 30,076 + $129.00 in dealers fees. (Of course TTL after that). We live in the midwest if that makes any difference. I highly doubt you will find a EX-L without the RES. The dealers seem to order them that way since most that buy a minivan are families and want the RES. I must say that I was disappointed to find out that it didn't come with the XM radio. Our salesperson let us to believe it had it when actually it is XM ready and needs $500 of additional equpt. to make it work. That was a big bummer and in the end the dealer agreed to put it in for a nominal fee. Other than that it is a blast to drive (as far as minivans go). Good Luck in your search!
  • fx35awdfx35awd Member Posts: 218
The brakes are fine, I think. I thought it needed to be bled but it just the soft feel of it, but it does not lose the grip power. It just softer when comparing to my old Infiniti FX and Honda Pilot.
  • gene00gene00 Member Posts: 115
That is an excellent price as it looks like (with the 'dealer fees' added) that you paid only $170 over invoice. They must have been motivated to get this unit sold, maybe they have a bunch on the lot, or this was an unpopular color combo? As far as XM radio goes, it's not as clear in the brochure, but on the honda website under 'build it', it fairly clearly shows that the EX-L w/RES is 'XM radio ready', but on the EX-L w/NAV+RES it has 'XM radio'. Caveat emptor.

    Hi,
That is a great price for the 07 Odyssey EX-L with RES. I'm currently waiting for a final price between two dealers wanting my business. I'm also in the midwest, Colorado. I was just curious how much the license and title fees are? Are these negotiable?
  • kjnwboatkjnwboat Member Posts: 6
We just got a quote for 2007 EX-L, $100 over invoice. Good?
  • fx35awdfx35awd Member Posts: 218
Yes, I think so. Anything from invoice pricing to $500 over invoice is good. However anything under invoice would be a bonus in your favor, especially, when a vehicle as such in great demands. Good luck.
  • echeverechever Member Posts: 5
kjnwboat: where are you located? That's a pretty good price at this time for an 07.
  • kjnwboatkjnwboat Member Posts: 6
It is from Renton Honda in Renton, WA.
  • kris995kris995 Member Posts: 23
Renton Honda just sent out an email for "starting at" $100 over invoice. I bet if you went in over a weekend you could do better. We got ours last weekend at invoice with no accessories. If their now advertising "starting at" $100 over, I wonder if you could now get it under invoice.....
  • echeverechever Member Posts: 5
Kris995 and kjnwboat What are you considering as an invoice price???
  • kris995kris995 Member Posts: 23
    $28,598 for EXL (includes destination)
  • sureshot911sureshot911 Member Posts: 1
I seem to remember the last couple of years Honda offerend low apr financing around the 31st of October. Anyone know if they're planning on doing it again this year?
  • kjnwboatkjnwboat Member Posts: 6
Right now they are offering 5.9% for BECU members. (In WA state). We just got our 2007 EX-L for $100 over invoice last night. It was an offer from Renton Honda, that Honda of Bellevue was able to match for us. Yeah!
  • cccompsoncccompson Member Posts: 2,382
It sounds as though pricing in the Seattle area has finally come into line with much of the rest of the country.
  • echeverechever Member Posts: 5
What kind of accessories did you get with it?
  • kjnwboatkjnwboat Member Posts: 6
It's an EX-L (w/o RES & NAV). They already had put on it the wheel locks, trim around the doors & wheel wells, splash guards & the cargo tray for the back. With all of that it was $31977 out the door inc. destination charge, T/L, etc.

We also bought a lazy susan separately. The '07 doesn't come with it, unless you buy the Touring. We were told that it wasn't even an access for the '07. So we decided to experiment and pull a lazy susan out of an '06 that was sitting there, and it fit perfectly. So we went to the parts dept and ordered an '06 lazy susan for about $169.
  • kris995kris995 Member Posts: 23
That is great to know about the lazy susan fitting from the '06. Did they have to install it or did you just fit it in?
  • kjnwboatkjnwboat Member Posts: 6
You just put it in yourself. It is meant to be removed, so that you can store the little middle seat in that cubby if you want. It takes some "wiggling" but it definately fit the same in the '07 the same as it did in the '06. But, YOU have to do it, Honda has washed their hands of the lazy susan going in an '07. We had to buy it separate (parts dept) from the actual car purchase & they won't touch it. We pick it up, take it home & put it in. Strange!

Here in LA,Ca. every Dealer has a different "invoice" price on this vehicle.Does anyone actually know what the invoice is on these cars???I've been looking for about a month and have found 3 dealers in my area willing ot do the deal $500 to $800 back of invoice. Funny how the $800 back deal is only
$30 lower than the $500 back deal when you consider the OTD price is $34770 and $34800
respectivley.I think their both good deals but definetly NOT under invoice as stated.I'm gonna pull the trigger on the $34770 OTD price.
    $31537 was supposedly $800 UNDER invoice.Anyone
here got any input?Good deal, bad deal or otherwise??
    Thanks
  • kris995kris995 Member Posts: 23
I thought "invoice" was what was listed at Edmunds.com or kbb.com??? Have you looked it up there?

While pricing vans in VA and MD a dealer was trying hard to sell us on a black Odyssey. We like the color but wonder if there are problems with black or if the color is just less popular. For example we heard the AC will not keep up on black models. Does anyone have experience, good or bad, with a black Odyssey? Do prices vary by color?
