Got an offer from a Philly dealership for $26,860 for an EX - no leather, no dvd, no nav. Is this a good deal or should I go for the Sienna LE Symphony at $23,775?

    What do you think???
  • bdesaibdesai Member Posts: 24
for 1000 off sticker at 26360 including destination but before taxes and title. Doc fees were only 38 dollars, a dollar for Indiana tire tax. No other crazy garbage fees. The van was ordered by someone else who cancelled. The van had arrived at the Dealer lot just the day before. There was very little haggling, best dealer experience ever for me. The salesman was Ira Mercurio at HondaWest in Indy, threw in cargo tray which I would rec to anybody. I really appreciate the Honda way of equiping the trims (Dx, Lx, Ex etc). This leaves very little to haggle over and so you don't waste your time. I think I will be a Honda fan for a long time. One issue though; when the car is first started in the morning in the cold and than shifted into reverse there is a thud with which the transmission shifts into gear just a second after the shift lever is placed in reverse. This does not happen once the car is warm later in the day. Is this normal behaviour for the Odyssey transmission or should I have it inspected. Any thoughts ?? Thanks.

    Picasso 3,

You posted a question on buying a 03 Ody versus Sienna. I think it'd be hard for anyone to answer that question without knowing your family needs. I, too, is shopping for a minivan and I prefer the 03 Ody because we wanted the fold down seats and we like the size of Ody versus Sienna. But obviously as we all know, there's a premium to be paid if we buy the Ody. If the 03 Sienna fits your needs, then obviously that's a good bargain as Toyota is clearing out inventory for the 04 Sienna that's coming in 2 months with discounts and rebates.

If you're willing to gamble, then you can wait 2 months as they should have even bigger dealer discounts to move the 03 when the 04 arrives. But then you may not get the equipment/color you want. So it all depends on what you want/need.

If you prefer the Odyssey, look back at some earlier posts and you can get $2000 off MSRP at some Ohio dealers. I live in CA where MSRP is the standard for the Odyssey, so that $2000 off remains an option for me. If you can wait 2 months, then maybe your local Honda dealers might have discounts when the 04 Sienna arrives. As I have already seen price concessions on couple local Honda dealers since January after Toyota announced 04 Sienna is coming. Competition is good. So now I'm just waiting to see what happens next few months when the 04 Sienna arrives as we don't need the van until summer.

It all depends on your personal needs and timing.

    Hi,
Contact Joe Mitcheolitti of BURNS HONDA , Marlton , NJ. You should easily get more than $ 1500 of MSRP.
I got mine EX-L in Dec from him.

    Good Luck
  • picasso3picasso3 Member Posts: 12
Been dealing with Walt from BURNS. They are only offering $400 off invoice. They are also offering only $500 for my trade in 93 Honda Del Sol which is probably worth $1500 - $2000.

Was your trade-in included with that? I would definately buy the EX-L for $1500 off MSRP. Can I tell Joe that you sent me and what you paid for yours?

My wife finally told me she is ready for a new van. We bought her 1996 Odyssey new, but our family has outgrown it. I have been trolling this board weeding through all the wonderful information available for the past 6 months and now it's time to make it payoff. We just borrowed an EX cloth today for about 5 hours to see if we could fit the family and stuff better than the current van - no brainer. Big difference in all dimensions. Anyway, we returned it and I got a chance to speak with the OWNER of the dealership about the price. We're not friends mind you, but he remembered me from when I purchased my 2000 Civic a few months ago. To make a long story short, he will not part with the EXL-RES for anything less than $29,360, which is $1,000 under MSRP including dest. I got the same quote via email from another dealer in the area as well. Maybe I can do a little better with them if I stop by and show him I'm serious about buying. This owner of the dealer in Bel Air, the sales managers and the sales reps have all been very honest and professional so far, but I told them to call me when they will accept my offer of $1,000 over invoice of $28,360. We'll see. It may give me time to check out the new Sienna anyway. But the wife LOVES the Odyssey. Good to know that the deals are coming in, albeit slowly. Remember people, stick to your guns, offer the dealer a fair profit, but be prepared to walk. Persistence and honesty will win. I'll let you all know my final deal when I make it.

I just went down to pick up our 2003 Ex-L Havasu blue Oddy from Joe Michelotti at Burns Honda today. I spoke with him late December and early January as recommended by nj_oddy_buyer. (Thank you!) He would not go better than that deal, but I think the $1300+ discount off of MSRP (Ex-L at 27,500) is not bad for our area. I did go just under $1000 for the 7yr/100K/0 deductible extended warranty since I plan to hang onto this vehicle for a long time and many posts referencing $875 for the Hondacare warranty were from last spring so prices to dealer may have increased a bit (the finance staffer insisted it was his cost for "bumper to bumper" and other may be a "different level" of Hondacare--don't believe that presentation but felt the deal was within reason). Joe was so easy to deal with via phone and e-mail and made it a painless experience--a real sweetheart! Lack of deceipt or chain-yanking is what would make you return to a salesperson for the next purchase and I'd certainly recommend him to all. If I had known sooner about improved Sienna, I probably would have waited to test those waters and see where prices for Oddys and Siennas would go in April. I have a Corolla that's at 110K with a lot of life left in it and never realized that in Japan Toyota is considered the superior company and its size far outstrips Honda globally and equals our big three U.S. automakers combined. If Sienna takes the best of Oddy features, adds a quieter ride and longer warranty embedded in purchase, that's worth looking at. But if you want Honda, give Joe a call. I followed a lead to a Staten Island dealership mentioned here in the fall, but my end-of-year visit there didn't even yield an offer to put down a deposit for an incoming car. The 75 miles to South Jersey was reasonable given that the best available discount in northern/central Jersey offered was MSRP less $500. I thank all of you for sharing on this board as I've been trolling it for info for two years. My husband was really disappointed I was insisting on a minivan for "my car" to tote our twins around, and since secondary/local roads still had ice patches today, I was nervous taking a new wheel and let him drive my car home. I think he likes it! My turn tomorrow. Just need to follow up with Burns about code needed to reactivate radio/cd if you ever disconnect battery--Keep a short checklist when you go for the car.
Lastly, dealership pushes a window etching program for security, but they don't etch VIN number, its some 3rd party code. If I'd had advnace warning, I would've researched this and asked my insurance agent. I've only read about etching VIN numbers as AAA has such a program in our area. Makes more sense to me to use a number police can access in real time on their mobile computers tapping into DMV database. I passed on the third party program but I would like to do VIN etching. Any strong advice/opinions on this issue?

Does $22893 sound like a good deal for LX with keyless entry/ alarm? Brandon Honda offering deal of $21598 for LX but when you get in they have of course added "performance package" to all models that along with alarm system brings taxable total to $22893. Total including tax, docs and destination ($260) gets me out the door with $25207.00

I am not in need of car until July and this will take about 3-4 weeks for delivery already...Not sure if I should just wait and renegotiate in June or take it and run?

    Ryan and others,

I'd like to start by saying I worked every dealer within 2 hours of Northern Virgina and ended up buying our new 2003 Ody EX-L w/ RES from Dennis Jenkins at Jay Honda in Bedford, Ohio for $1750 under MSRP. Also, the difference in the "processing fees" was also about $200+ (NoVA $200-$290 vs. $50 for Jay Honda) for a close to $2k savings. All the dealers in the NoVA area are in my opinion still playing up the "mystique" in the Ody to not budge from MSRP (more like have you negotiate down to MSRP) and with only a couple back and forth emails/phone calls to Dennis we settled on the price above. Interesting enough I have to thank Landmark Honda in Alexandria, VA for not budging from $250 over MSRP to MSRP because at first after looking all around here I was almost resolved to pay MSRP. Then, when my deal with Landmark fell through (I walked because they wouldn't come down $250 to MSRP...?!#$!) I did more digging and found out about Jay Honda from this discussion board. Several others posted they had good experiences and I would like to stronly reiterate the same! I had an excellent overall experience including a fair price, getting the model I wanted 2 weeks earlier than expected because he was able to do a dealer trade for the same exact model (plus I got free wheel locks to boot from it), and a good review of all the features, etc. I told him I was going to post on here so if you're reading this post Dennis, thanks man! My guess is that it's possible that he might even be able to go more than $1750 below but honestly I had such a good experience that it was worth giving up $250 or so to say thanks in a way.

So, give get a hold of Dennis if you're looking for a good price. It was worth the $100 plane ticket there! Oh yeah, I forgot to mention he also covered my taxi fare from Cleveland Hopkins airport to the dealership. It was only $32 but hey it's small things like that that make for a good buying experience.

Lastly, to all us NoVA folks, let's start spreading the word and getting people to buy them out of state. Not only will they save $$$ but it will send a message to the dealers around here that they need to start wheelin' a little.

    Cheers all,
    tim
  • ryanc4ryanc4 Member Posts: 3
    Tim,

Thanks for the information. That is an excellent deal. I actually live in Southeastern Virginia, specifically Virginia Beach area. I would guess that Bedford, Ohio is over 7 hours away, but I may still email them and ask for Dennis. The best deal I have been offered down here is $650 under MSRP. The other issue with me is I would like to trade in our SUV. If I could get a similiar deal, I would probably try to sell my SUV on my own. Thanks again. RC

This is VERY interesting! The first time I have seen a decent deal on the LX! The LX has an MSRP for $24860 (including destination). The Keyless option runs $278 (+ install $126).

Questions - Did it have a CD player? Did it have alloy wheels?

Bottom line, that combination totals an MSRP of $25264. $22893 implies $2371 OFF MSRP (INVOICE is $22417+keyless&install). VERY GOOD DEAL!!!

This is what I was expecting to see after the 04 Sienna was introduced... Then again, I think we are about to go to war...
2003 Honda Odyssey EX-LRES - Midnight Blue Pearl
2004 Honda Accord EX-L Graphite Pearl
2007 Honda Civic EX - Atomic Blue
2013 Honda Civic LX - Crimson Pearl
  • tampafltampafl Member Posts: 3
No CD player, No alloy wheels.

I just found my notes from the dealership and it looks like I was a little off. The total before tax is $23,291 and not $22893 as I earlier reported ($398 more). I still think, and tell me if you think I am wrong, that this is still a good deal. What makes me so mad is that $1295 of it is the cost for the "performance package" which is garbage to me. They won't take it off. I am going to try and negotiate other dealer added options that have more value to me. I live in Florida, I don't need mud flaps. The door guards and wheel well guards they use are about 1 cm wide.

I am trying to make a smart decision while heading into what could be an even worse economy. I am buying this LX and putting some cash into it so that if I have to sell it I will be in a great equity position and then I can go buy a Huyandi or something...Can you tell I am always thinking of worse case scenario??!!!

Any input appreciated on my deal...I wonder if I should wait since I don't need a car until July??? I am scared to pass this up.
  • wholiganwholigan Member Posts: 148
If you are unsure, check the honda website. Price it out with the options they showed you (the honda site has a small "price applet" that allows you to customize selections and price your desired vehicle). I still think you have found a VERY good deal. I have been watching this board pretty closely since it was created (September 2000) and this is the first time I have seen $2000 off an LX. This is actually the price point I have been looking for, unfortunately, I live in the Twin Cities.

I think I am going to wait until I see the 2004 Sienna before I pull the trigger. I have three kids and having the split 3rd bench is something I find VERY attractive, nonetheless, CASH IS KING! The best "deal" will get my business. For comparison puposes, the 04 BASE Sienna will sticker just under $23000.

If I were sold on the Honda, I would make this deal... As long as I could get the Midnight Blue!

    Good Luck!

    Congrats on the New Odyssey!!

I just want to make certain before I call Joe. Joe gave you $1,300 off the price $28,860 (MSRP & Destination). Did this include a Trade-in of the Corolla?
What were their document and misc. fees?

    Thanks!!
  • nj_ody_buyernj_ody_buyer Member Posts: 11
Yes. that is what i got.(27,500 for EX-L) there is only 139 doc fee.
and i bought the warranty from Outside
  • picasso3picasso3 Member Posts: 12
How long did you have to wait for the vehicle?
  • azmommy2azmommy2 Member Posts: 9
My van came in approx. 6 weeks but that was due to my choice of Havasu blue as a color. When I called Joe Michelotti at the end of December/first week of January, he asked what model and color I wanted and went over the list of available EX-Ls scheduled for future delivery. Had I wanted silver, it could have been as short as a week at that time. All according to what they know they have slotted to come in. I just made a $500 deposit via credit card and he gave me an expected build date in early February. He called me at about that anticipated date to convey the actual VIN and state how soon delivery was expected. I don't have the invoice with me at work, but nj_oddy-buyer confirmed the EX-L price of $27.500 and doc fees slightly on the high end. I did not trade-in, don't know if that complicates a sale.

    To nj_oddy_buyer:

Thank you again for the original referral! How much did I waste by accepting the warranty at $982? Did you go to one of the earlier posts on this board to purchase it? [I'll admit to being worn down by the long back and forth over 3rd party etching number and caving because my two four-year-old boys were acting up by this point and husband had to get to work back in North Jersey--that was probably my fault for deviating from my plan to wait to purchase an extended warranty later.]

    Hi,
I paid $ 875 on 12/31/02, But I think that prices went up 1/1/2003. You might have spent may be 70 - 80 $ more , but OVERALL got a good deal.
Check my prev post from whoom I bought (some in CA)

    thanks

Get this. Wife called regular sales guy who went to the sales manager and told them about the great deal you guys got. Their response was "Not this again" and they won't honor it and are basically saying that you are lying. She didn't deal with Joe.
Oh well looks like we got to find a different dealership.
  • azmommy2azmommy2 Member Posts: 9
That's a shame that a manager of the sales dept. would actually start name-calling recent customers. We may replace one more of our very old cars this year and I would have liked to have felt comfortable approaching Burns again. If (1)the manager feels they need to price higher or (2) you approached them initially without the internet discount reference and got a non-internent sales guy and price or (3) they are getting pressure from dealers complaints to Honda re: undercutting from dealers up by me, they should be straightforward and say that rather than impugn those of us who [were foolish enough to?] recommend Burns. Wow. Very surprised. We'll see what happens when the new Sienna cuts a wide swath through their potential customer base in a couple of months. Maybe they'll change their tune then. Makes me more thankful to nj_oddy_buyer for allowing me to avoid the nonsense I so dreaded. My Mom way overpaid for an Accord back in '85--above MSRP like they were doing you a favor, but we were uneducated then. This all makes you wonder: apparently the majority of American dealerships don't want a reasonable salesperson to turn-around their tarnished reputation!
  • nj_ody_buyernj_ody_buyer Member Posts: 11
Try one more time. Talk to Joe M. I had another friend who was talking to someone else and they were not giving him the deal, and then I approached Joe and he gave that deal.
  • picasso3picasso3 Member Posts: 12
I think we are going to wait unitl March or April and see what the New SIENNA is like. I got a friend who has bought a lot of cars from Freehold Toyota in Freehold NJ (Route 9) so I may be able to get a good deal from his sales guy. At that time I will also call Joe M. Wife doesn't want to call Joe. She's afraid it's going to piss off the dealership and hurt the salesman and in the long run we won't get good mechanical service from them. I know it irrational but you know how wives can be. (no offense ment to u AZmommy) so hopefully in a month or 2 she will be willing to allow me to call Joe.

I just wanted to let you know. I got a great deal on my ex-l res from Honda of Nanuet in NY. I leased it and they gave me a lot of money on my trade. Talk to Greg zdubia. I hate car dealers but this guy is great. it's only 20 minutes from nyc

I recently purchased an EXL from Holtz Honda in Rochester. I worked with Roy Patterson. He was easy to work with and didn't push any add-ons that I didn't want. Roy also delivered the vehicle to my house free of charge. I actually got a better price from Dennis Jenkins at Jay Honda in Ohio but the vehicle transportation charge made the bottom line bigger. It was a good experience and we are happy. I want to thank everyone who has posted messages on this bulletin board because that made it easier to find dealers who want to make a deal, and to better understand the availability and pricing.

toyota released pricing on 2004 Sienna and I think Odyssey will soon be at or below invoice

    pricing on Sienna 2004:
    CE $22,955 $950 less than 2003

    LE (7) $24,260 $1,495 less than 2003
    LE (8) $24,410
    LE AWD $27,875

    XLE FWD $28,260 $248 more than 2003
    XLE AWD $31,465

    Ltd FWD $34,480
    Ltd AWD $36,930
  • tastetaste Member Posts: 37
Your statement proves you are one...

So let me get this straight... I paid $29,318 for my Ody EX-L + NAV (including Dest). A Sienna XLE Ltd FWD is $34,480 so Honda is going to drop their shorts to invoice...Uhhh I don't think so. The XLE FWD at $28,260 is a good price point but it is not loaded like the Ltd...

I will be reviewing new Sienna for purchase (second car). Thanks for the pricing. No thanks for the stupid hyperbole...

I just picked up my Ody EX-L RES (Sandstone Metalic) on 2/13/03 from Superior Honda in Cincinnati, Ohio (a short drive from my home in Indianapolis, Indiana). As I made many inquiries of dealers in the Indianapolis, Dayton, Cincinnati and Louisville areas, wanted to briefly summarize some of the highlights of my experience over the last two weeks:

Superior Honda (Cincinnati, Ohio). This is where I acquired the vehicle from w/terms as follows: 36 month/45,000 mile lease (through Honda Lease Trust), 0 down, 0 security deposit, $419.99 per month payment (includes Indiana monthly sales tax of 23.27), at signing paid first payment of $419.99 + $9.95 Ohio license plate fee. Total out of pocket for three year lease term is $15,129.59. Lease terms based upon $28,150 initial cap ($2210 off MSRP) + Honda acquisition fee of $550 and 61% residual. My salesmen was Rick Moulden who could not have made the process any easier (see also post # 3273 by molson5). Rick was very responsive to my phone calls and concerns. Overall the best experience I have ever had with a dealership.

Thompsons Honda in Terre Haute, Indiana ($28,150 sales price quote) and Hidy Honda in Beavercreek, Ohio ($27,900 selling price + $50 doc fee, but slightly higher on the back-end of the lease) ended up being very close on price. Joe Mrdja was very friendly at Thompsons Honda. The individuals at Hidy Honda I was working with were extremely pushy and somewhat uncooperative (openly complaining that they each were only making $37.50 on the deal!!!).

Found Tom O'Leary at Cincinnati East Honda to be very helpful. Easily spent 3 + hours working with me ($28,300 selling price quote) before conceading he could not compete w/my other offers. Was willing to FedEx contract, etc. out for my review.

Indianapolis dealers: Best quote was $1,500 off MSRP. Honda West would only go $1,000 off and had exactly what I wanted on their lot!!!

Overall, found best deals being offered in Ohio. For those in the market, probably well worth a plane ticket/gas to pick up one of these vans in Cincinnati as opposed to paying too much.

Let's try to stick to the dealers and prices and not tout the salespeople so much. Those guys move around a lot and glowing reports of individuals over and over looks more like promotion than reporting. Thanks!

Yep - I got 2 posts removed, sorry to the wonderful salespeople out there who can't get the recognition they deserve (at least through town hall). I'll try this one...called Jay Honda in OH on Monday, had the silver EXL-RES delivered to my doorstep in MD on Friday for Valentine's Day for my wife! The price was $1,800 below MSRP incl. destination. $50 doc and $20.25 for temp OH tag. I would be glad to share more information regarding the salesman and other information regarding buying a car out-of-state if you email me. Good luck everyone, thanks for the help over the last 6 months. My wife and I are thrilled with the new Oddy. Now only if it would stop snowing.....

As a practical matter, we've discovered that in some dealership (e.g., our common NJ Burns Honda experience) only one particular salesperson may be willing to negotiate a half-way reasonable price. Without being able to indicate the contact name at least once in a post about the experience, it doesn't seem the post would be very valuable. Thanks for taking my two cents on this!
  • steverstever Guest Posts: 52,454
Unfortunately we continue to have problems with certain salespeople posting after multiple warnings, or they have others post for them. Or they give "bird dog" fees for referrals. All in violation of the Member Agreement.

It gets old trying to keep track of the touts, so we ask that you just mention the dealer.

If you want to know who the best person at a dealer is, just call and ask the receptionist who answers the phone. She/he will know (per former salesperson, Cliffy1).

Picking up our 2003 EX Odyssey Monday night. We got a price of $25,600. Extended warranty 7yr/100,000 miles for $775. They threw in the special they are running of Cargo tray, locking lugnuts and splash guards and an interest rate of 3.74%. I'm happy as can be.

Does anyone have any information on recent pricing of the EX in Michigan (Lansing, Detroit, Ann Arbor, Jackson areas)? There isn't a waiting list anymore at our area dealers, but since the Odyssey is still very popular, I'm not sure where to begin negotiating. Any help would be great. Thanks.

    Avux,

No I'm not from Florida, I'm from the Cleveland, Ohio area. I acutally had two dealerships offering the same thing, I just keep going back and forth with them thru email and a few phone calls.

The dealership is Park Honda in Akron, Ohio.

Picked up my 2003 EX Midnight Blue on Saturday. Negotiated 1860 off MSRP with internet salesman. Many dealers near home would not budge more than 1k off MSRP. Airway Honda in Chicago had a salesman that lived close to me, he met me at McDonalds near home to appraise my trade, and we went from there. The folks at Airway were a pleasure to do business with. I was in and out of there after a test drive. They also gave me a fair trade on my 96 Explorer. ( a little more that edmunds said I should expect to get ). My wife loves the van, and Airway even offered a special bank rate of 3.65% for 60 months. My wife loves this van. Thanks for all the helpful postings, everyone.
  • smartyboysmartyboy Member Posts: 5
I'll have to check out what I can get for a trade at Airway Honda (per the post by buddabird). At this point, the best discount I have seen in Chicago is at Jacobs Twin Honda. They are quoting $2000 of MSRP for an EX-LRES. Thanks to previous posters for posting this lead. Prior to contacting Jacobs, the lowest discount I found in the suburbs was $1000 off.

I bought my 2003 Ody EX with DVD and leather MSRP $30360.I was able to get $2200 off that price at Lute Riley Honda in Dallas TX. I found the dealership to be very professional.
  • smartyboysmartyboy Member Posts: 5
I was driving through Crystal Lake last night (suburb of Chicago) and saw that the local dealer and recieved a Sandstone Odyssey with leather. It did not have the DVD however. The salesperson came out and said that they are putting in the Honda aftermarket in most of the vans and would do the same with this. I told him about the $2000 discount offered at the other dealer to see if they would match. Secondly, I told them what I was looking for on my trade. 15 minutes later I had my new van. The dealer called a few minutes ago and said the DVD can be installed tomorrow.

While I noticed that they have put several accessories on some of the vans, they do not push them and will sell you a van without all the little add ons. However it was nice to see what a few looked like with some of the touches.

I am happy with the deal and very happy with the dealer. If in the Chicago area, call over to Crystal Lake Honda in Crystal Lake Illinois.

What was your trade and how much did you ask for?
How did you arrive at trade value?
    Thanks
  • smartyboysmartyboy Member Posts: 5
I first negotiated the price of the van by letting know that I was not sure if I would trade it in or sell it outright. My focus was to find the best price for the van. I went to several dealers to find out what they would offer for the trade. I then looked at typical trade-in value on both Edmunds and on Kelly Blue Book. Dealers (obviously) started by offering $1000 less than the stated trade-in value. I ended up getting slightly more than the numbers listed on the web.

One, I am very jealous for all of you who have gotten a great bargain, and at the same time I congratulate you.
Let me tell you my position, there are three of us, 2 looking into the EX, 1 looking into the EX-L. We must have contacted 12 dealers throughout NJ, every single one came back with what they called their best price, this was MSRP. All had the little footnotes which said, don't worry come back to me with your best price and I will beat it. There was nothing to beat, everyone was MSRP. We were very upset that buying 3 would not make any salesman push for a great price.
No the 3 of us are waiting for the 04 Sienna, and see who will give us a better offer.
Again, to thos who got a great deal, way the go I congratulate you. Our wives would haved loved to be driving around with it now, but we could not get ourselves to pay MSRP knowing we did most of the dealers selling by us doing our homework.

I just picked up an Odyssey EXL RES for 28150 plus 485 for Honda cd changer (dealer installed)and taxes. The only additional fee was 50 for documentation. I was in and out of the dealer ship last saturday within 2 hours. The internet sales person at Honda East was excellent.

    lapvn,

If you look back couple months on this post, there's someone else from NJ who bought from Ohio at a big discount and had the van shipped to NJ.

I guess NJ Honda dealers still haven't discounted the Ody yet. Here in CA, two months ago I couldn't get a dealer to sneeze on me when I asked for $200 off MSRP. Now after the 04 Sienna has been introduced, I begin to see below MSRP prices around here with some dealers.

I'd think if you can wait for couple more months after the 04 Sienna actually hit the dealers' showrooms (due to show up next month) and the Toyota marketing machine start to crank out the TV commercials/ads for the new Sienna, you should get some price movement on the Odyssey in your area.

But if you look at the Sienna board, you will also see the next few months the new Sienna will sell at MSRP also as it's perceived to be a hot van. So if money is an issue, I'd still think the 03 Ody will be cheaper than the 04 Sienna.

If I told any of these dealers that some people are buying the Ody's at Invoice price they would probably call the cops and accuse of of trying to rob them or call the Pysche. ward for me.
Maybe I am stupid, (you can laugh) but we are hoping to pin the Ody and the Sienna against each other and who ever gives us a better price wins our business.
Another question too is that, when you buy from out of state, aren't you left with the burden of going to the DMV for all the paper works and also to handle the sales tax on your own.

Although you feel that selling 3 at a whack at a discount sounds plausible to you, the dealers you spoke went don't feel that way. Perhaps they are seeing that units still sell at MSRP within a reasonable time frame so they don't need to resort to discounts. Just because the unit is sitting there unsold doesn't mean it will sit there for 30/60/90 days unsold.

As for buying out of state, you would probably have to do the registration paper work yourself. Back in the old days (before processing fees) we always used to do that ourselves. Your insurance agent may be able to help with the forms.

The 04 Sienna will probably be a hot seller as well and will go for MSRP as well. I wouldn't be surprised to see some people settle for Ody's at MSRP in some places.

    Good Luck in your decision.
