He is being given a $4500 trade difference. His 2001 plus $4,500. I could not believe it. That equates to about 26,000 trade for the 2001 EX. In fairness he added VHS system and a few options-bug thing, tranny cooler etc but to get out of a 2001 with only 7,000 miles and get leather, 2002 improvements plus dvd looked really sweet for him. I guess dealer is convinced he can sell for $27000 making $1,000 there and $3,000 on the new one. Why is dealer treating him so well. I guess all are not greedy. He was worried he could do better in Tulsa. I laughed and told him to go see one of the Tulsa dealers. He is tonight. I predict they want van plus $6,000 or so.

"The bad news -- The Acura trip computer and outside temperature features ARE NOT part of the Navigation System and do NOT use the Navigation System Screen. This information appears on a small display on the dash below the speedometer."
Are saying that there is an outside temperature feature on the dash below the speedometer on the EX model?

NO, I was responding to speculation that the 2002 Odyssey NAV might include outside temperature and trip computer because the original poster thought the Acura NAV system included it. The answer is that it is not part of the NAV system on either car; the Acura has these features on a separate dash display. The Odyssey does NOT (I haven't seen a 2002, but it isn't listed in the specs and does NOT come with the Navigation System).
Hope that is clear. As far as I know, if you want outside temp and trip computer, buy an Acura, or add it on 3rd party...
Drives great, You can definitly tell the HP difference. The handling seems alot better because of the new supension. Have not heard any rattles at all and the noise reduction improvements seem like a great addition too.
There are cup holders everywhere including one
on each of the middle seats that fold away.
Nice touch! The front seats seem a little stiff
though I hope they lossen up especially on the
sides this might be due to the side airbags that
are in the seat! The hooks in the rear seat are
a plus, as you can hang your plastic grocery bags
without leaving them on the floor.
Overall I am still extremely pleased with the van
seems to glide down the roadand has plenty of
pickup when accerating. I will give more info
after further mileage.
I check the previous postings but couldn't find
it. Info requested:
Type warranty: zero or 50 deductible, years/mileage Ect.
Also does anybody bought the aftermarket
cassette (original Honda)from internet and had installed
at dealership.Would like info on cost of install and if
still cover by ext.warranty.
My dealer wanted 695.00 when I bought my 2002
When I said NO,NO,NO, He then lowered to 495.00
I still said NO, But I'd think about it!
IMHO, the only worthwhile stereo add-on in that pocket under the stereo is the in-dash 6-CD changer. Looks cool and I am thinking about adding one on. You can get it cheaper at one of the Internet Honda parts suppliers and if the dealer will not install it and you are not enterprising, then have a local stereo shop or garage do it.
The colors bog down your servers and take quite a while to load for the typical user.
Next, color displays are usually "off" compared to the real thing due to
1.scanner used to feed the colors in and
2.monitor used by the recipient
I really believe that people will simply have to go to the dealer to get the color charts (and even they are often slightly different from reality!!)
Therefore I recommend that you delete the message with the color chart.

Thanks for the clarification on the Ody EXL-NAV though.

I mean, if you're getting something out of this deal (e.g. a referral fee), why not disclose it? Otherwise, why not simply post the URL on this board?
On the warrenty for $895, it is 0 deductable. Got the leverage from an earlier post. Sales Mgr. must have had a weak moment. The salesman said it was less than he paid for his (he waxed philsophically).
The amber tail lights do help. I think if they were red they would get lost in the rest of the RR Pearl color.
We drove through a nasty storm this weekend
The grade sensing logic seemed to work for a couple of hills. Lots of power on the highway. The fifth gear puts the engine at 2000 RPM at 70mph. Ride was really nice and lot of room to spread out in the middle seats and take a snooze. Haven't made up my mind yet on the stereo.
After visiting and talking to various dealerships on the net, by fax and by email, I ordered a 2002 MB EXL-NAV on July 6 at a local dealership. I was told that I would get the van no later than October, but probably in September, 2001. The dealership informed my a few weeks ago that the order had gone in for October production and I should have the van anywhere between October 15 and November 10 (did not talk about the possibility of September, now that I had given my deposit and ordered the van through them!).
I just got a call saying that Honda had changed the order without informing the dealership why (they say this is the first time they have had this happen since 1999, when the current method of ordering Odysseys came into being) - they have got an allocation for a MB EX without leather or the Nav!
This is terrible especially since I sold my previous van 2 months ago. The dealer says they have talked to Honda's regional rep and others but have not come up with any answer on why this happened. They also do not know if they order again for November production if the same thing will happen! I believe this is a good dealership but am without words to express my disgust at Honda.
Has anyone heard of something similar? Any recommendations on what I can do (besides get a different vehicle, which I am now considering)?
Any input will be greatly appreciated.
I was happy to make a trip from Tidewater Central KY and average 26 mpg for the trip. I just wish I had more power climbing those long WV grades. Hopefully the more powerful '02 will climb those mountains better.
I am looking for a trip computer to add on my '99LX. Does anyone know where I could locate one at a resonable price?
Thank you for your inputs.
You might try the Honda's Customer Relations
office 1-800-999-1009. They might be able to assist you in contacting the appropriate department. Also, since they already stated they talked to Hondas Regional Rep. You might call
another Dealer in your area and request the
regional Rep's number. Advise them you have a
complaint against ANOTHER dealer (not them)
and thought they should have the same Rep.
I hope this helps. jrm2002
If you call Honda, dealer may think you are undermining them and this may permanently upset them, dealing with them may then become a dead end (not just a 1 or 2 month delay). However, if you are getting no where, then you may have to deal w/ Honda. My advice is to first call the dealership manager/owner. If you cannot (or have already) spoken to the highest up, then write him/her a letter. If still no dice, then write to Honda and cc the dealer. I find no utility in calling and there is no record. If you cc the dealership AND salesman, they may not think you are trying to undermnine them and they will be on board every step of the way. Be cordial, concise, but firm.
You may also hit the road and see if you can get lucky at another local dealer. Maybe someone cancelled their order when their $26k was in a DJIA-linked mutual fund?
Good luck.
ps - My wife and I find that for our 3 kids, 2 bikes with my one pulling a 2-kid trailer and one bike/tandem set up can get us just aboue anywhere in any weather. You may want to try it until your ship (er - Odyssey) comes in.
>>there are no deposits neceesary to get this price..only PATIENCE!!>>
Uh, patience??? How about being a member of an affiliated group that's located in DC, MD, or VA?
This "service" is obviously subsidized by employers and credit unions and is offered as a benefit to employees and members thereof. Basically, it's utterly worthless to the vast majority of prospective buyers on this board.
But, gee, thanks anyway.

My 2 year anniversary is on 10/1, so I'll need to get one before then to avoid the 'penalty' for cars over 2 years old.
Here is my 2 cents.
Go with EX, I had the same concern EX vs LX before I purchsed my 01 EX. You will appreciate all the nice things on EX, you will use them everyday. This is the first power sliding door I ever have. The whole family love the power sliding door. Love the remote entry, no scratch at key hole anymore. If you get a LX, you will still get a security system and remote entry, which will cost you $300-500 bucks. I like alloy wheel, not just look better, also I don't have to buy any wheel cover in the future. Also CD vs Cassette .....
If you purchase items separate it will cost you more than buying an EX.
For $3000 more now you can 6.5% for 60 months is about $59 more per month.
