Now make sure you match up your Voltage and your amperage requirements output by the Adapter to the requirements for your device. You might even find one with the connection might fit the connection of your video/audio amplifier. Make sure though you also match up the polarity of the Plug to the polarity of the v/a amplifier connection. If it is the Round connection type, some have the Center as positive and the outer connection as negative and vice-versa. In any case match them up. then again you can alway hardwire it to the adapter.
Hope this helps...

Airwolf.
Reminded me of Gene Hackman in Crimson Tide when he is talking about making the Lipenzater stallions Dance I believe. He says its a simple matter of Voltage... Ironic how he said that (And throughout the move he only had half the answers), actually its a simple matter of Voltage and Amperage.... At least typically. We can always get into resistance and everything else but we won't go there...
Also,
Jan 24, 2002 is the 21-day mark for Mania 3. So if you're planning on flying in and haven't made reservations you should do it by then for the cheaper fares. And please make sure that you send in the registration form and make your hotel reservations as soon as possible. While there are quite a few people who indicated they are coming we need the registration information to pass along to Lincoln and to order an accurate number of polo shirts.
We are also rounding up some great prizes and items for a noisy auction. Working with Borla and Magnaflow on donating an exhaust system each along with a bunch of other vendors to donate a bunch of other goodies, thanks to steve_ca.
My 2000 LS8 finally hit 10K miles. Hope all of you are having a great winter. The Irvine trip sounds excitinfg. Take care all
Instead of converting from 12 volts DC to 110 AC and then back to 9 v DC I think it would be easier to simply step down from 12 volts DC to 9 volts DC. I'm sure it's possible but I don't have a clue how to do it. But if anybody would know it would be Radio Shack.
I would not have thought that you'd need an amplifier to split the signal. Could just be bad cables or a bad connection somewhere.
BTW - was it a 98 black 6-speed manual? And did the wife have a 2000 3-series?
My picture brightness and overall quality drops approx 20% when I have both headrest monitors powered up and connected to the DVD player. Same quality with car engine on or off. Unplugging one monitors instantly boosts the pic in the remaining monitor. Ive only found one Mobile DVD player that has multiple (2) Video Out RCA jacks, but unfortunately thats not the one I have, thus the Y adapter Im using to turn one RCA out into two.
As far as audio, same thing. One Left Audio Output and one Right Audio Output. A Y connector for each of these so sound can go to my RF Modulator (going to stereo speakers) and to two wired headphones with volume control on the actual headphones. (Yes, theres another Y adapter for the headphones so I can use two headphones). Sound comes through the headphones, but even with the volume set at max, not nearly enough volume, hence my need for some amplification for audio and video. Cables are good, solid connections.
At this point, Im re-thinking certain points of the project. I'm probably going to exchange the DVD unit I have for a smaller unit that will fit in place of the glovebox changer. Unlike the DVD player I currently have, the replacement DVD unit will have a dedicated Headphone jack. I'll simply use that jack, run an extension wire (with (a two headphone inputinto 1 adapter) from it down under the carpet to the rear of the center console. The dual jack there will allow both headphones to be plugged in, so I should have ample sound from that source without the need for an amplifier. www.radiosandmore.com has the dash to trunk cable which will allow me to relocate the factory 6 disc cd changer. At that point, Ill probably pick up a video-only amplifier from crutchfield or a local audio shop.
As long as you car is still covered by the original warranty an ESP can be purchased for up to 84 months, starting on date of purchase, and up to 100,000 miles. I believe the Premium Care Plan is the type Lincoln puts on "Certified" used cars. I wonder if this is a reasonable investment if I plan to keep my LS for a while, especially given the lack of long term maintenance history on the model. It should also be a fair selling inducement when the time comes.
Most third party extended service plans are not worth the paper they are written on. I'm hoping some of you can share experiences with Ford or Lincoln ESP. Thanks in advance.

The approach I outlined keeps you in the DC Side the Whole Time.. 12V Car In (Voltage Adapter Steps down) to 9V input for the Video/Audio Signal Amplifier.
No AC Involved. Your Transformer was designed to be used in the home but transformed the energy to DC since the device is DC from what you stated.
Your signal would get degradated with a splitter... I am sure there is a more elegant solution, especially from Alpine since they make Multimedia systems all the time. It would be pricey though. I Personally would go with the CVA1005 or the Current Model up Front (TUNER/TV MOnitor) +Alpine DVD CHanger + Alpine Dolby Digital Processor. Would have outputs for TVs I am sure...

You haven't been looking at the LLSOC newsletters? We've got a couple of partners that offer the genuine Ford ESP plans at a significant discount to LLSOC members.
Brian
After checking with about six dealerships that claim to specialize in ESPs, it turns out that Charlie Horn, who was mentioned in the LLSOC newsletter and on the LLSOC partner links, is by far the most responsive and has the best prices. You done good!
I'm trying to find out if anyone has some insight on the value of the ESP. Does it work exactly like the original warranty? Are the dealerships cooperative, etc., etc., etc.

Autocross (SCCA Solo II, gymkhana, slalom, depending on what they call it) is simply a low-speed,single car, timed event through a temporary course usually set up in a big parking lot. The typical course consists of a series of slaloms, 90 degree turns, 180 degree turns, and straightaways, all marked by traffic cones. The courses can be small and tight or large and open depending on who is designing the course. No two events ever use the same course layout and there lies the challenge. Most Solo II events allow a total of 4 runs through the course. Each one is you against the clock. The fastest run through the course without hitting any cones is the winner. Speeds in our cars rarely get above 60mph. The most damage you can do is scrub off about 1,000 miles on your tires each event. At SCCA events, you may have 2 drivers per car in the same run group.
On a brighter note, I purchased the '01 center console, the one with the revised cupholders, on eBay for $99. Not bad as the dealer wants $290.
Here's getting impatient for ManiaIII!!

When I first got the car, one of our friends said "so you got a Continental?" She couldn't understand why I went off.
Looking forward to seeing you again at Mania3. I hope you'll take me a for a ride so I can experience firsthand what the Borla has done for the V6.
Artie
Stan, missed you last Sunday. You should have seen the Subaru guys and their AWD all over the place! The guy in the mid-60's Bettle was interesting.
It's bare and the forums have been reorganized and shrunk into broader categories. I'm working on recovering the old posts so I'm still hopeful that the old stuff can be retrieved.
Check it out and let me know if there is anything we need to change. For those of you club members who haven't logged in to the members site go in through www.llsoc.com and look for the entry link right above the privacy statement.
No flame mail about it not being open to the general public. If you want a public board, Edmunds has a fine one going right here and we don't want to or need to compete against them.

You'll find most of his posts are helping non-club members with a myriad of questions and issues. That is why everyone, until you, appreciate his contributions and place great value on his participation. You will not find a more helpful or knowledgeable person when it comes the the LS you profess to love.
And while spam is not permitted on Edmunds, we do seem to tolerate the occasional, off-the-mark, self appointed traffic cop. Hopefully your first post will not be indicative of you future contributions. BTW, congratulations on driving a superior automobile.

I greatly appreciate the time they spend answering questions and providing information.
If it bothers you, just skip the post - I do that on some of the issues that I am not interested in, and it is not a problem.
I have never been offended
2001 V8 Sport
Jan 2001 build date
Do not have advance track
Car was in Automatic mode
I believe fuel level was low - my AMEX bill shows I filled up that day, my guess is after the incident
I did not notice RPM
Car started up immediatly after stall
I have tried to repeat the incident (go 50 MPH, brake hard and hard right), but have not been able to (but sure is fun trying - I had better order some 69 dollar tires from TireRack). Will try again with low fuel level.
I am taking the car in for 10,000 mile check end of the week and will see what they say.
Thanks for all the feedback.
I'm curious since it seems that the stalling issue seems to have cropped up in the winter months, unless you guys experienced it in the warmer months which blows my theory away.
My options are to shut up or do something about it.
I bought my car -- barring a complete meltdown (which is not likely, given what I've seen so far), I'll keep my LS for the next couple to several years.
What's the competition for the money?
o Audi is unreliable and expensive.
o BMW is expensive and owned
by many yuppie-scum types.
OTOH, it's an excellent vehicle.
o The Nissan G35 looks like a winner,
but doesn't have fold-down rear seats.
It also seems to come with predetermined
option packages which are designed to
piss people off.
Point being, the LS is an excellent competitor. When it gets down to actually selling or trading the thing, one needs to look at the competition, and it gets quite interesting. I'd like more power. I'd like an interior that didn't look quite so much like a Focus. I'd like paint. . . (you've all heard it before). I'd like advertising that didn't make me feel like I owned an appliance. Oh well. . . One can want whatever one wants to want. One will get what one gets.
The LS is pretty special, but could stand improvement. Will it last in the face of the current Ford meltdown?
Who knows? Others haven't, in a much better climate.
Those who attack Brian need to get a life. Few are more confrontational than I, and if I'm comfortable with him (which I am), a mirror may be in order.
See ya soon!

While we're discussing JR, Brian, will JR's phantom replacement be making an appearance at LS Mania 3? I'm sure some of us have issues with the direction the marketing of the LS has taken & would love to discuss it.
Lsismore- you can find the production date on the sticker affixed to the driver's door jamb. That gives you the MM/YY. If you want the exact day, some dealer R.O. tickets show the full production date at the top along with the other particulars concerning your car, e.g., VIN, delivery date, mileage @ delivery, color, etc. If not, ask them directly to get it off OASIS the next time you're in for service.
I agree with drolds1, will JR's replacement be there? At this point, I believe she is a figment of someone's imagination.
There is also a TSB for delayed reverse or drive engagements, harsh shifts or downshifts, erratic upshifts and delayed downshifts near 20 MPH, for LS's before 10/17/2000. If your not experiencing these problems you do not need the reflash performed.
There is a sticker on the driver side door jam that will give you the born on date info.

I would greatly welcome any performance tips for my 2K LSV6.
Who remembers "Hat boy"?
With respect to ad music, let's give our CTS brethren a good wishes that, considering GMs usual approach, the Led Zep music shouldn't be replaced with AC/DC's "Highway to Hell." I really wish the LS was advertised more aggressively, think ZZ Top, they have lots of songs about crusin and racing around in big American Iron "Rolling down the highway in my V8 Ford, I got a shine on my boots I got my sideburns lowered..." or even "She don't love me she loves my automobile."
The comment about JR trying to get some info from the CTS group, it doesn't surprise me he only got a snitty comment by someone who doesn't even drive or own a car. That's the way they are there. Also the Mercedes and BMW forums are full of elitist snobs, including one who was shopping for a Hyundai and didn't even own or was apparently able to buy a 540i. This all reminds me of the time some coworkers and I were looking over my '88 Stang, LX 5.0 notchback cop car look alike (good way to get people to move out of your way!). The Stang was slightly breathed upon by a few high performance mods, exhaust, K&N, advanced timing, new MAF, and was plenty fast. This idiot gave this look down your nose rant about how he would never buy a Stang, only the RX7 turbo was really any good (and cost over 2.5 times what the Stang cost). Later that day I saw him get into his only car, a rusted out, crappy Pinto that barely ran. Idiots.
