My 2001 does not have that plastic across the front either. You can see the tops of the headlight buckets when you open the hood.

Okay, how does one upload pictures to appear here? I've looked all over the site for a clue, but can't find how to do it. Can someone post the steps?

I was in a picture taking mood today (thanks to beautiful weather, and Zaino) and wanted to remind you all that I'm still around!

    Thanks!

I dont know if zaino is compatible with regular turtle wax--ask Sid at Zaino Co. what he thinks--

I hope you are right about pricing of the Special. Does anyone (maybe Otto) know what type of production run Chyrsler has planned for the Special? This could be determinative on whether the dealers come down off of MSRP.

BTW - tried the Zaino wash this weekend - it is great.

The wheels are great. Let us know if you get them. If so, we would like to see pictures.
  • russklassrussklass Member Posts: 389
Gad, I go away for a few days, and there are 400 new messages posted!
Cut it out guys, I don't have time to read that many posts!
  • jedi_knightjedi_knight Member Posts: 89
If you want to see the wheels I was talking about you will have to go to kmc wheel for yourself since Pat has deleted my post. for crying out loud, would it make a difference if I copied the image to my site then posted it here? Do you think KMC has an issue with someone posting images of their wheels when all it could possibly do is generate sales for them? Wow what a concept free advertising! You can warn me, ban me what ever you want to do I've had it with your draconion attitude around here....

    Later peeps

  • tucsongiltucsongil Member Posts: 116
SDMike, thanks for the link to the show at Treasure Island. It looks really cool and I'm very sure that we will check it out!

Also SDMike, my budget on my not yet finalised trip to San Diego will depend on my Las Vegas trip out come(*_O). But I will LYK once a date is in place. I would like to stay by Shelter Island and those tourist areas like Hotel Circle. LMK if their is a deal in that area that you know of.

MikeyJohn: I am all set for this weekend in Las Vegas at the Treasure Island. I will jump around to different Casinos and now that I know of the 300M in one by the MGM I will look for it.

Also, sorry to hear of another crack on your Joshua Tree wood trim. I hope it does not continue to happen! I await the process to begin on my despute/investagation with them with my credit card co..

yes, the postings have increased here with some new contributors---guess we all are a bunch of enthusiasts about our M's--that's what makes us numero uno on Edmunds top ten forum list---some day even I many not be able to read through all the posts---but keep it up guys--it makes for interesting reading

    Congrats Man !

I havent gone yet, I had to get it delayed because Im overseas at the moment... I thought I would get lucky and they would push it back a few months, but a couple of days after I get back I have to go to battle...
  • tucsongiltucsongil Member Posts: 116
IMHO, don't get you hopes up too high on just a 2K up charge in price on the Special. The factory will set a MSRP on it and dealers will add a "market value adjustment" sticker to it. Another 2k will do for the dealers to add for a limited production run car like the Special.

Prowlers get the added dealer markup and so will the Special. IMHO of course.
  • ajpiiiajpiii Member Posts: 260
    Av,

I know you talked to the prowler pro guy for a while. Is it really true that the gas mileage will go down 6mpg ? what about top speed ? (Even though Im limited right now)... Im thinking this is my next mod, I wanna surprise a few people with a quick M :) Does he have anything else ready to buy ?
  • tucsongiltucsongil Member Posts: 116
Antonio(Tony), I sure hope you beat your ticket when you return state side, like I did!

    Good luck amigo!

What is up with the tyrannical attitude towards this board? I mean don't get me wrong, this is a great resource and I love visiting it all the time, but it gets a pretty darn old having to watch every single word and picture we post with a magnifying glass, or poof!, it will disappear compliments of you. I don't know if it has something to do with anything concerning the 300M or someone is just being a bit particular. And I'll have you know, I read through many of the boards on Edmunds and in many, there is fowl language, disguised curse words, and many other so-called "violations" of the member agreement. I don't know who it is that hosts some of the other boards but they surely aren't as strict over what goes on. And another thing, as someone here once said, if we make the effort to sit here and write an informative message for others to read and comment on, and by chance there happens to be a single bad term or violation within the post, why do you not just delete the select portion instead of emailing us and saying that our entire post has been erased? This is very aggravatiing to say the least.

Don't take this the wrong way, I know you have to do your job and all, and we have to abide by certain rules but why does it seem we have more stipulations than others? Better yet, why are certain things like entire post deletions done when a simple portion could simply be erased? What's up here?

My scratches were very shallow, more like swirl marks that didn't get through the clear coat. The Z5 did outstanding on those.

What Pat is doing is enforcing the rules of the board, set by the people at Edmunds to shield themselves from any possible liability for what we post. Posting information on any illegal activities or posting copyrighted images have the POTENTIAL of liability associated with them, therefore it's prudent for Edmunds to disallow these things. The issue of posting "for sale" information is that forums like this often turn into catalogs instead of forums. Unfortunately the rules don't give a moderator much flexibility.

The people that have a real problem with these rules should try to find somewhere that doesn't have the rules or start their own discussion group. My guess is that AOL and others have similar rules.

    Just my 2 cents
  • patpat Member Posts: 10,421
All any of you need to do is read the Membership Agreement. Those are the rules here.

If you think some boards enforce that Agreement and others don't, please feel free to take that up with our Community Manager, Dana Livingston at dlivingston@edmunds.com.

If any of you have issues with my topic management here, I will be glad to discuss them off-line - just email me at pat@edmunds.com. I'll be happy to discuss any concerns that you may have.

One note in response to a recent post - your hosts have no ability (nor should they) to "edit" a post. If a post is in violation of the Member Agreement, the host's only option is to remove it. You can edit your own post for up to 30 minutes after it has been made, but NO one else has that capacity.

    Thanks.

Not sure of any "deals" and don't have any connections except for the Doubletree Golf & Tennis Resort (I know the Tennis Pro...lol). I can, however, tell you which hotels are decent and which you want to stay away from. There are some awesome places in LaJolla near Torrey Pines, but you're paying for the name and location. IMO Shelter Island is a bit too close to the airport. See what you can get at the Hilton Resort on Mission Bay. It's kind of by itself and in a nice location. If you want to go cheaper, there is a Hilton, Radisson and Doubletree in Hotel Circle that are all nice.
  • patpat Member Posts: 10,421
We were posting at the same time, and you are exactly right. Again, I'll be happy to discuss any of this with anyone off-line.

I have spent lots of time in Vegas (trade shows, etc.) and have some personal favorites. If you've never been there you'll want to catch the following things:

Pirate Ship Battle at Treasure Island (hope it's not under your window..lol)
Volcano at the Mirage (every 15 minutes or so)
Dancing Waters at the Bellagio (every 15 minutes)
Top of the Stratosphere (for the view)
The Venetian (the art work on the ceiling/walls)
Voodoo Cafe on the 52nd floor of the Rio (view of the strip from the porch is unbelieveable)

I spend a lot of time also in Vegas at trade shows, and you forgot to tell them that if they squint their eyes they might see Elvis. lol

    Just kidding.

Anyways, I just ordered my tickets online for the Mystere Cirque De Soleil at Treasure Island Casino for this coming Saturday night. Ouch....... $176 for two tickets($88 each including taxes). I got great seats in the lower level at section 102. I need to pick them with ID at the ticket office.

I told my wife that you would refund my money if we did not like the show!

BTW, I have been to Vegas several times. I believe that the Pirate ship show at Treasure Island is the best FREE show anywhere!

I bought my 2001 Inferno Red M about a month ago (chrome wheels, moon roof). I went into the dealer to look at PT Cruisers and walked out with a 300M. I traded in my '97 Cirrus with 82K miles.I just thought I'd stop in and say hello from Rhode Island.
  • ajpiiiajpiii Member Posts: 260
I know the feeling of going into a car dealership to look at something, and comming out owning a 300M... Just one drive did it...

What part of RI ? I work in RI... West Warwick to be exact... the M is the perfect car for the commute from MA to RI, the journey seems to get shorter and shorter everyday (the M might just ride to comfortably at high speeds)
  • sdmike2sdmike2 Member Posts: 2,909
My wife wants to know what we get if you LIKE the show! lol!

alg528 - Welcome, and congrats! That makes 4 or 5 of us here now with an Inferno "Cuff Me" Red M. When I got mine in March it amazed me that they were selling the PTs for the same price as the Ms. I went in for an M, but if I didn't, I probably would have left with one too! :)

Now you just need dual exhaust, spoiler, etc...hehe
  • mikeyjohnmikeyjohn Member Posts: 365
Congrats on your M. There are a few of us that have the 01 Inferno red, with your options. Do you have the sandstone interior? You might want to check out the woodtrim add-on that some of us have. I have had some problems with mine but it still looks great.
  • sdmike2sdmike2 Member Posts: 2,909
...and I'm waiting patiently to see what that woodtrim kit looks like with sandstone. Any day now mikeyjohn! ;)
  • wencaowencao Member Posts: 52
TL's S package is just $2K. How dare chrysler charge more than that without a better tranny?
If it is the case then the Special is not worth it. We can easily modify our M to be 'Special'
  • denvermdenverm Member Posts: 358
Got back late last night from a week in Cancun, and just finished skimming over ~550 posts. Lots of action here! I haven't driven my M yet, so looking forward to the cruise in to work tomorrow - haven't ever been away from it for 9 days before! Tucsongil, I saw a Cirque du Soleil show in Denver a few years back (their "Quidam" show), which was one of the most phenomenal live performances I've ever seen. If the Mystere show is anywhere near as good, you won't regret paying the $88 ticket price.

hey alg: havent noticed you on this board before---I did the same as you---in March 2000, just as the PT showed up in the showrooms, I went in expecting to purchase one of the first PT's--it would have cost $22,000 which was fine with me for the limited until I test drove it--the lack of power and the spartan looking interior changed my mind quick. Thought about it for about a week then remembered seeing the M which at first I had no intention of buying. But the test drive did it. Although I found the car was a bit noisy on the highway, everything else was perfect. Lolita is now over a year old and has 20k on the dial. Always turns heads and I look forward to driving her everyday. And I only paid 28,600 with everything except php. The best part was the financing--less than 1% on the whole purchase price spread out over 5 years. Thats worth about 5 grand in my book---the PT did not come with that bonus. So I figure the M cost me about the same as the PT and offers a whole lot more.

Phases: which woodtrim do you like better--is there anything you dont like about either one.--you can give us a true opinion between the two makes.
  • easyrider300measyrider300m Member Posts: 1,116
do you know if those xenon bulbs get any hotter than the regular bulbs---I sometimes like to read in the car at night when I go for my donut run so xenons in the dome light would be great. But I wouldnt want to discolor the lens due to excess heat. Dont see much need for the other xenons though. Are they a lot brighter than the regular bulbs which seems fairly bright to me.

Roger no problem with a plant tour . So you want to surround the plant with M's,you better all come because its a pretty big place. Just let me know when you want to do it . Now some of you have that black plastic cover over the headlights and some don't . This piece was discontinued (don't remember the date) as a cost saving measure so no 2001 have it .
  • easyrider300measyrider300m Member Posts: 1,116
why did you pick your name--just curious--do you own a bmw too---

and dont forget to check out the 300M club if havent already--it offers a lot of benefits to 300M owners and already has over 120 members--I especially like the club apparel--presently they offer logoes shirts and will soon offer caps (hows that coming Rogor--summers half over :-). Also custom floor mats will be offered. All at volume discount prices. The apparel, great bunch of guys, club meets, informational links, clear decals for the car window, club certificate for your wall, membership card, and lots more--all for a measly $15--such a deal! Also the club has one of the best looking websites on the internet thanks to our most humble and talented webmaster --Glen- (alias Drpixel). The Lincoln LS club charges $35 for nothing more than our club offers except maybe they have a newsletter. Check out the 300M club at http://www.300mclub.org/

i got it an accident friday night. this saab clipped me from the rear. i was taking left turn, sob got me in the rear right fender. its ugly, just ugly. but its really not THAT bad, of course this is from a kid who does his own bodywork, so i'm going to fix it this week. remember that pic fuzzy had up? just double the dents, thats how bad it is, and the saab was lowered so teh bumper caught most of it. new bumper, 400, not bad not bad. and while i'm working on it i'm gonna do suicide doors. this is gonna do wonders for my insurance, coupled with all those tickets :(
  • easyrider300measyrider300m Member Posts: 1,116
Glad to hear you're not hurt...if the guy hit you from the rear, it may not be considered your fault. If you crossed his path and then he hit you, then it probably is your fault. In Massachusets, it makes a big difference on the insurance depending whose fault it was. It may end up being money in the bank if you do your own bodywork. Get an estimate from the highest price bodyshop you can find and send that to the insurance company. In MA , they just send you a check for that amount and then when the car is fixed you just fill out a form and they can check the car if they want. And if its not your fault or if you have rental insurance, make sure you rent a nice car while you put on those suicide doors and repair the damage. If it doesnt hurt to much, post some pics of the damage.

What is it this weekend. That's 3 accidents among our members plus my tearing my tire on a curb. Oh, I know why--it was Friday the 13th when they happened.

thanks easy. it was technically my fault, and thats what i told the 25 cops are wouldn't stop ranting about the car. no arguements, i should have yielded. but i simply didn't see him, there was a cop who saw the whole thing, in downtown philly, theres about 5 cops on ever corner. so he vouched for me. i didn;t run a red, i didn't his the gas, no aggressive driving, there was just another car obstructing my view, still my fault tho. i felt so bad for the other couple tho. it was a 2001 saab, he boyfriend was driving, she had just wrecked her other 2001 saab the week before. that was kinda interesting but i'm not gonna do anything, i'm just happy that eveyrone was ok, and his damage is a lot worse unfortunately. i carded some of the police officers, they loved the car. car should be towed down to my shop tommorow, oh, forgot to tel you guys, i'm buying out 51% of the shop, running a partnership now. so i will be able to do your hoods after all. or anything else for that matter....i'll be doing some stuff while fixing the wreck, and yea i'll have extra money in the bank with insurance check, because technically, i'll be paying myself for my own labor, lol, so its still legal

The gears will not effect the speed of the non PHG 300M's, since the limiter will still take effect around 120. The PHG 300M's will notice a differance though, but it shouldn't be much.
