radtech: impatient, yes but thorough! I mailed out two of our newest members' packages one day-along with Magiel Venema's (our Netherlands member..), and those two packages never made it to them.
Not that I don't trust the U.S. Mail system, but under the current anthrax thing thats going on, who knows where their membership packages wound up? As a result, I usually email new members when I get in to work in the a.m, asking them to notify me when they get their package(s). I've also taken to wrapping the sticker/clingy (which is it--sticker or clingy?..) in another sheet of paper, as another member told me his sticker got toner on it from the wipercard sheet! Hey, I'm trying, ya know?..sheesh
tucsongil: Good luck with the new pc! Even though I had a few problems with my Dell in the beginning, Iove my Dell 8100 with EIGHTY GB hard drive (..nyah, nyah..my hard drive is bigger than YOUR hard drive!....*chuckle*..). You DO have a slightly faster processor though! Sorry about the door ding, but fortunately (..for you, anyway) it WASN'T you who got the ding; because you KNOW you'd be hearing about it!
beach15: My sympathies also for all the beach15's on what's happened. I agree with lflowers as to who's responsible for all whats happened! All poster's here: Repeat after the doctor: "CAN YOU SAY LAWSUIT?".
phases78: Remember, imitation is the sincerest form of flattery! If someone 'borrowed' the code from a web site I designed, it's a compliment to the original creator!..Now, where did I put those hood scoop drawings of ava...ooops!
Chatroom session tonight! The hot-tub is now working fine after the expansion to a larger size. The swim-up bar is now open for business. Remember, you must be 18 years of age, and no Speedo's!
I thought you fell off the Earth. Go to http://www.300Meet.homestead.com/basic.html for news on the meet. I tried to get a hold of you earlier but didn't have your address. 12 have signed up so far to come. Some have signed up from as far away as Santa Barbara Ca. and Clarksville Tenn. It is going to be bigger then I thought (even if half show up). I am asking that everyone bring in manuals if they have them so that we can be better prepaired to help answer any questions, and to cover as many years as possible. Hope you can make it.
beach15 - The idiot that caused that accident, or his/her insurance company, should be liable for the damages...not your family. Get a copy of the police report, GET A LAWYER, and contact the insurance company of the person that caused the mess. Don't let yourself get screwed. Fight it. Some insurance companies count on the fact that most people don't understand insurance, their policies, and the law. Don't let them run over you.
Gil - I'm trying to get to the AZ meet but the chances just dropped to 50%. My wife's grandmother is doing pretty poorly in assisted care and that weekend is one of the few before the end of the year that she'd be able to fly out to see her (before its too late). If she goes I could probably come to AZ with my kids, but I'm not that interested (nothing personal) in driving 5-6 hours with kids 6, 4 and 7 months in my M with me.
All - I've made it to New Hampshire successfully (another business trip). I won't be able to make chat tonight because I don't have internet access in my hotel room. Don't talk about me behind my back where I can't defend myself (lol!). What a shock when I got off the plane in Manchester monday night. It's cold up here! And it's rainy! Yuk! I'm spoiled in San Diego. :P
Go out to your 300m, and turn the bun-warming seats on high, place your damp clothes on other seat, and seat heater setting on "Toast".... Talk about you behind your back?....nahhh (..did you the shirt he had on?....ohhhhh, my God...what was he thinking when he lef....oops!..sorry.)!
Got my World series tickets today. So happy Yeah I know not 300M related, but i'll make it related. All that rain, & no leaks in the M. I'm satasfied it's fixed! If it didn't leak with all that water I dought it will again.
300Michael: I am all signed up for the Phoenix met. It should be fun. I hope not to spend too much money up in the PHX area for all my property tax and state sales tax money goes up there and never makes it back down to Tucson! I just like to buy Krespy Kreme doughnuts and Claim Jumper Resturant while up there! I gas up in Casa Grande! O_O
Doc: Well my wife says that my hard drive is big enough. I just luv her software!
Mikey: I wish the best for your wife's grandmother. I never had lost a family member that I was close to. All members are in Puerto Rico and NYC(Dad's side) and scattered around on my Mom's side(her father got around). I hope you can make the met even so.
hmm - are you still allowed to post if you're not actually with your M?? ;-D
boy, I feel for you. Friend of my wifes has a 626. They took it down the shore with us (wife and friend went in the 626 I took the M with my kids). I wouldn't drive long distances in it if I could help it. The M is just soooo much nicer...
So does anyone really know about the Autollites? Autobarn has them in stock and after the recomendation of the dyno place... Anyone know if they really are better than the bosch?
Beautiful, warm sunshine day in Dallas. I have been waiting for the perfect weather and applied the clay bar removal on road splatter with a coat of Z-1 so far. Going back out now to put on a coat of Z-2. It has been a year since the first treatment of Z-1, with regular Z-2 coats added every so often-about 5 or 6 so far. It should look great when finished.
I was rear-ended (though not as bad as Beach15) a couple weeks ago.
Since I was not at fault, I had to go to the insurance company of the party that was at fault... which was the car not behind me, but the one behind them (3-car accident) and I was the lead car. SDMike is right here.
I called up her insurance company and they're taking care of the whole thing -- repair, rental car, and if I was injured I assume they would have handled medical expenses.
Hope you got all the information from the drivers involved.
I had called up my insurance company for good measure (Allstate) and they put a flag in my file that I was in an accident and not to accept any claims on it from any other party involved.
Technically speaking, since you were not the cause of the accident, it's irrevalent that you have insurance at all.
another year, another birthday.. 23 today, i think im gettin old. im feelin old!
i was driving home today from the mall, (off today, work tonight) and just missed witnessing a pretty bad wreck. i came up on it just in time to pull over and help ppl direct traffic etc etc waiting for the police and ambulances showed up. im not to sure what happened, all i know is that one car ended up hopping the curb, going thru one of those concrete barriers, and landing on another car (a dealership, at that). the other car in the accident was stopped in the road with the driver laying on the ground with his head bleeding pretty bad, falling in and out of conciousness...
helps you to remember how bad accidents can be.. glad BEACH15 isnt seriously hurt, along with everyone else in here that has wrecked. including myself.
hope everything works out for you beach, just get in touch with a lawyer if you have to go that far. you shouldn't have to pay a dime thru any of this.
I don't remember reading about the Chrysler credit card before. You sure it wasn't the GM MasterCard? ;-))
sdmike2-
Oh brother! You are spoiled by that San Diego weather! :-)))) I know you're a little further North from CT and that it's a little cooler than here, but the weather has been warm and fantastic for October! I'm glad for you that we're not having our typical October weather or you'd be wearing your thermal underware! LOL....

HAPPY BIRTHDAY! 23!!! Oh what I wouldn't give to be 23 again- I think! ;-)) Hope you had a great day!
what I meant is that I had a deja vu for real. I realize that this article was just released, but I have an image in my brain of already having read it. This happens to me sometimes. Too bad I see things only after they happen and realize that I have already seen that.
Phases78.... Let's see 23 times 2 is 46..Gad I'm ten years older than that. Well son I'm sorry that you feel old now. I'll bet you still have your best years and times ahead of you. I agree with avalanche though having a M is a good start and I gaureentee it helps keep you young. By the way do you ever watch the top fuel drag racers? If you'll notice most of those are over twice your age and they are obviously having fun.
I'm also looking forward to Phoniex. Any suggestions on Hotels near the shopping mall? I like a nice place but not to expensive.
Just read the article on the gas fuzzywuzzy linked us to. I was on my second tank of high octane when I took NMIFR300M to the dyno. If I get to do the testing program I'll be running it on mid grade so we will have a comparison in the stock configruation. I can't say that I have noticed any increase in performance (maybe I'm to old to feel the difference any more) or gas milage on the high octane. Getting about 19 mpg in town and almost 25 on the hiway. I think that is pretty good for a mountian state.
Does anyone no yet what is the configuration of the dual exhaust system on the 300M Special. Has Otto seen under the car?
Ah......MY favorite thing too!! Glad you enjoyed it!
ruski-
I hear you. That happens to me too. I wish I was like that John Edwards guy on the TV show- Crossing Over! He is amazing! He can even communicate with pets. Hmmm.... I wonder if Christine has anything to tell me?? LOL...
p.p.s. about the meet... i highly doubt ill make it, we're still on 2-6 (varies every other week) recall.. looks like im not getting anywhere further than nashville.. which really sucks cuz i really wanted to make it.........
The neet is in North Scottsdale. Most of the places around the area are on the expensive side. They range from Motel 6 to the Hiatt Regencey. If you give an dollar (expensive to me is over $10 a night lol) figure I check.
steven300 - great article. It's nice to see our opinions on the product reinforced. For those that missed it, here is the hood of Big Red with only one coat of Z1 and Z5, with some Z6 enhancer on it. It's shinier now...when it's not covered in dirt (sorry fastdriver...lol).
fastdriver - The weather hasn't been bad the last couple of days. When I got in on Monday night (around midnight) it was darned cold. Over the last couple of days it has been much milder but rainy. It's supposed to maybe snow tonight, so I hope I can get down to Manchester (I'm up in Lebanon near the VT border) before the roads get bad.
Damn - that's a pretty good comparison test run there Looks like Zaino's the way to go...
sdmike - It's going to be snowing in VT? Awesome! I hope they have as good a skiing year this year as last I'll be up there in a flash, that's for sure...
This Saturday will be my first time using Zaino on my new 2001 300m bright metallic silver. I am excited because I am looking forward to seeing what Zaino will do since it is such a highly rated product. Also, I have some griots wheel cleaner for my aluminum rims because I have heard that their cleaner works well on rims.
However, the only thing that I do not have at this point is window cleaner and some good 100% cotton towels.
Board members please suggest to me what window cleaner I can use to do the outside and inside of my car with. Please take into consideration that my car has been tinted with 35% and I need a cleaner for the inside that will not harm tint. I am eagerly awaiting your responses.
Also, please suggest to me where I can purchase some good relatively inexpensive 100% white cotton towels to remove my Zaino with.
While I agree that the test hood looked the best with the Zaino, I would guess that you wouldn't see such a difference if you used it on a light-colored car, say Bright Silver or Cypress Green. sdmike2's Inferno Red, Roger's Dark Slate or the Black Clear Coat definitely would have a much higher ''gloss" factor. Dark colored cars -to me-always seem to show off the shine better than lighter colors. My neighbor across the street from me - a truly certified car NUT (he has 4: Volvo s70, subaru RSX, older Honda Civic and wife's car--a new Maxima..) SWEARS by Zymol.Just for the record, I use that Formula 2001 (by Turtle Wax--brite green bottle..) silicone wax/polish. Does a very good job, and eMily's Bright Silver paint looks and feels smooth, beads up well in the rain and holds up well. I will be off tomorrow--1/2 star dealer visit to get Body Control Module and driver seat rail/bracket replaced...
the Doctor I'd like to see that test run on a silver or white car just out of curiousity. Please, Zaino fans and acolytes..no flames directed at the doctor...just my 2¢ worth.
Kmart/wall mart is a good place to start for the towels.
Just some soapy water, & some newspaper should be all you need for the inside/outside windows. Most window cleaner will damange the tint. Most cleaners like windex leaves a film on the outside part of the windows. That's all that's needed. Doesn't cost you anything either.
You will get the silver really bright, but because of the silver color you will not get that really deep shine you get on dark colors, like red. That's just how silver is. My silver M is the same.
Being from NYC who do you think I'm going for... wink wink
Don't know where I'm sitting yet. Some friends of mine in NYC waited in line for hours to get some tickets. I'm flying up this weekend, I'll find out when I get there. I went to the last 2 so, it should be fun. Hopefully all the increased security doesn't hurt the games that much. When the Yankees do win, it will be a nice day for NYC. Something the city could use.
Griot's Garage has a good window cleaner. Look for a "white sale" at a store near you. Be sure to get ALL cotton towels...some so called all cotton towels have polyester in the banding & stitching. Be sure to machine wash the towels before using. Good luck!
Is there a TSB on the seats for the problem of moving while driving? My seat had been doing it a bit, but it's getting worse. Time to get that and the steering wheel fixed. Steering wheel is peeling on the leather. Very odd, but I thought I saw some posts about it being not uncommon. As long as the new wheel still has the radio controls I wonder if I can get the wood-inlayed wheel as a replacement... hmm...
I think there is a TSB on the driver seat moving--its slight, but then I have a sensitive butt! eMily is getting hers replaced tomorrow. Also had same/similar problem with 'leather' peeling on the steering wheel--no radidio controls on mine-its a 2K. Click here to take you the the nhtsa.dot.gov website. I plugged in 2000 model year. you might have to back up or go down one or two levels to get your year.
BTW, the 1/2 star dealer is replacing my steering wheel, too.
Just get one without ammonia in it, which will mess up your tinting. I have Eagle 1 non-ammonia window cleaner and I'm not impressed with it at all. I find that using a dampened soft cotton cloth on the inside cleans very well and leaves fewer streaks than any cleaner I've tried.
I think Zaino makes a window cleaner though...but I don't know anything about it.
Drpixel - the Zaino has worked wonders on my Gold M. Prior to the Zaino I was using Maguirs. The Zaino is far superior. You would probably experience similar results on the Silver.
koolk - try Sears for the towels. They are 100% cotton, made in USA (like Sal recommends) and are reasonably priced.
The best I've come across--by far--is Stoner Invisible Glass. It's comes in an aerosol can at an MSRP of $4.99. It doesn't contain soaps, surfactants or ammonia, so it's safe for tinted windows. I use it with lint-free cotton cloths. This stuff will leave your windows completely clear, without streaking.
I haven't tried Griot's Garage's glass cleaner, but I've had excellent experiences with other Griot's products.
That's good news! I'm taking the kids skiing at Killington on Christmas break. I had some great times there carousing and learning to ski way back in '78 (right after the blizzard of the century). During weekdays, it was never crowded, but on holidays and weekends-fuggedaboutit! Lift lines back into New Hampshire.
SDMike-Yah, I too am not impressed with Eagle 1, but will use it until I find something better. I have a metallized tint (Llumar) that really shows water streaks.
Doc-Glad to hear you scored WS tickets. I have been to the '84 Olympics and the all NY SuperBowl years ago in Tampa. (Giants and Bills). Maybe I can get to go to a WS someday. We are going to the Winter Olympics in Utah next year. I love the spectacle!
oooh - I'm jealous of the olympics tix I love killington -when was the last time you were there? The lines are much better, since they've added so much more room and better lifts. The old killington double is gone - replaced by a gondola. Though that particular one isn't that great...
Splatt-I went three weekends while at a DEC training school in Mass. Quite a drive. Glad to hear the people movers have been upgraded. Almost froze on that double chair to the summit on the shady side in below zero temps. Also hit Sunnipee, NH a couple of times. Oh, yeah. One day at Wildcat about '86(Can you say PRIMITIVE!), and a weekend at Okeemo, VT in '89. I have been skiing UT, Lake Tahoe area, and CO, most recently Durango (formerly Purgatory). We flatlanders love the mountains!
What are those two raised triangular (side-view) things on the upper edge of the car bra for, anyway? Are they to allow air pressure to keep the upper edge pressed against the hood while driving?

I'm pretty sure from the description that this is the BeneVento deflector I have installed. It is very nice, and for this price it's a real bargain.
