I have some of the neon wire, but it is 20' of Green (to go with the car) not the blue or purple Target carryies. I do have the 7" neon blue sound activated light though. I got the green neon to do an exterior trim element for the trunk (in planning stages) and the other will go below the 7" monitor in the dash (to light up the controls on the center dash). I was thinking of a small red or orange combo for the inside of the scoop to make it like a fire is inside, LOL.
No it is not designed for servalance. I am experimenting for visibility in the fog and other adverse conditions. I am also playing around with the sonar systems for the front. Something like the Lexus 430 has, to control breaking. I know, I have too much time on my hands.
The dealer fixed the seat movement. I tested it, breaking and accelerating, and no movement. They fixed the doors by adding screw sleeves. According to them this is the new fix for cracking door panels. Kind of reminds me of the head pertection, discussed earler. At least they don't show. They also washed the car ( I had just zanioed it) now I have water spots. Oh well. I have to go back one last time they forgot the door clips, so when they come in, they will call me. Oh joy.
Hi all, I have a 2000, 300M with PHP. A lot of questions... First... how stiff is the suspension for those who have PHP. As far as I know the suspension for PHP is stiffer than normal. Does a small bump can be felt all the way inside the car and cause vibrations? Second, my front passenger door arm rest seems to be making a vibrating sound, which I can't seem to figure out. Does anyone have a similar problem and has it been fixed? Third, the rear corner of my sunroof seems to be making a vibrating sound too. Again, anyone same problem. Finally, I hear some vibration and noise from the center/left of the dashboard, which is disconcerting to say the least. Are all these problems "normal" or is there something to it? Also, any input on the suspension will be a great help. My ride seems to be a great deal stiffer than before(compared to when I got the car). But then the roads here in San Jose, aren't that great either compared to Newport Beach, CA. :-) Thanks all.
the nsx has monster room, more head room, leg room, arm room, feet room, knee room, kidney room, liver room, and butt room then the 300m. i know u're like 6'4" right, the cars made for you man.
With that recommendation? No thanks! lol. Thanks for the offer, but if you have to scrub it off your windshield it sounds like way too much work for me.
Got it installed today. Nice! I was able to get a wire down to the cigarette lighter plug (had to remove the CD changer) and soldered it in there behind the dash. Like others here I had to cut off about 3 inches of plastic trim that was keeping the bracket from sitting flush against the radio screw plate. I used an exacto knife to remove the sandstone plastic wrap in the area, and a dremmel cutter to cut the slot. It's hard to cut a nice line with the tool, but it's all covered up when you put the radio trim back on. Overall it was a simple process...made a little harder by the desire to hide the wire. Here are some pictures:
Mike I am also having a water leek problem. Mine is on the drivers side. They replaced the gasket on the drivers side door and said they can't find any place its leaking, but every time I go thru the car wash there's a damp spot on the floor about the size of a grapefruit. When I rub my hand on it feels damp and my hand smells musty. It isn't smelling up the whole car yet but I am getting concerned. The service manager said he would replace the carpet but until they find the leek I think that would be a waste. They have had it three times and I am to make another appt with them. I was wanting to get one of the new specials this year as I have 70000 miles on our 99. But now I am wondering there have been a couple of other posts on here on water leeks. We just noticed the leek at about 65000 miles. I have owned about 20 cars and trucks in the 25 years I have been driving and have only had a water leek problem once before it was a rear sliding window on my 97 F150. That problem was an easy fix. Keep us updated on what happens and I will let you know what happens with ours. Sam
Got my Black 300M Special (HID xeonon headlights, huge [non-permissible content removed] tires, body molding, turn signals on the mirrors, nicer leather seats) & all that good stuff. Hoping to post pics soon. Anway, wanna do some minor interior mods: 1) Chrome shift knob 2) Navigation system
I know its been posted before, but my conection is too darn slow to navigate postings...so where do i get the knob and anyone do the DVD nav system?
Chrome shifter available from K & M Dodge, Grand Rapids, MI (800) 999-9470 and ask for Tom. Cost $76.50 + $4.59 shipping. Shipped in one day and received it in three. Need a star tipped screw driver [I thought it looked like a hex, but Autozone said star. Took the new shifter with me to make sure the star driver was the right size. Bought one for $1.50 and it worked easy with the shift post moved toward "Drive" so you can get the screw driver at the screw in front of the shift post. Go easy on the tightening of the screw as someone indicated it can mess things up if you torque it too much. I am "mechanically challenged" and had no problem.
Interesting that yours required the "star" (Torx?) driver. Mine needed a 3mm metric hex wrench which I already had.
Putting it in drive is definitely required to work on it easily. The only trick is to be sure the knob is fully seated down when tightening the screw, and yes, don't over tighten the screw. I applied moderate downward pressure on the knob while I snugged the screw. If the release button doesn't move freely, it's too tight.
Just got 300M at auction. Local speed shop fells confident at 310hp; 400 w/ happy gas. trying to rep the Special Edition showcar should have pics sometime this summer. Too bad they don't come in convertable;)
I think I was the first 300M to have to deal with this. Last June, & all summer. I had a water leak on the drivers side. Same grapefruit pattern after it rained. I was just over 36K miles. I went to the dealer, & then my problems started. They said the leak was caused by the hole I put in the firewall for my power cable to the stereo. Now I know this wasn't it, because it was sealed, & it was like that since day 1 of me owning the car, this leak appeared 1.5 years later. The dealer insisted it was the problem, & refused to troubleshoot the water leak any further. Until they sealed it up. Well since they thought I caused the problem, & I was just over 36K miles, they made me pay for it. $395! What could I do? So they sealed it. Said the leak was gone, sent me on my way. After about a week or so, it rained, & the carpet was wet again. Dealer took it, & this time said it was the seal around the door. Since I paid the $395 for a water leak problem, they were able to replace the seals for free.(Thank god) Again they said it was fixed, Again after a few days of rain it still leaked. Now I was upset. I went to NYC for a month, & when I got back, I went to the dealer. Told them I would not take the car back untill they prove to me it was fixed. A week later, the dealer called me, & said it was fixed. I went down, & had them water test it in front of me. They said they had gotten the body guys involved, & it was a bad seam up in the fender area somewhere, which caused the water to follow the body seam into the drivers side foot well. They claimed it was a soon to be released TSB. If it was soon to be released how did they know about it? I question if that was it, but after that it stopped leaking. They also put a hole in my arm rest in this process, & said they would replace it. They "reparied" it. I demanded a new panel, & got it. Never had issues like this before. This dealer was always great, I though it was the only true 5 Star. I was wrong. Sold it in November.
Emailed Andrew (club site host....) regarding the non-appearance of club site, and says that he believes the problem is corrected..... specialm: and all....please chexck to see if connection has been re-established and the site is functional.

Received this from Andrew.....: ========================================================== Hi. I'm in London this week and seeing some firewall issues from here. I'll try to address these tomorrow remotely from where I'll have high speed access. Dialup here (even with a local pop) is very expensive and slow. Hopefully by the time you wake up there tomorrow it'll be resolved. Please pass this along. ==========================================================
Stay tuned......(whew...I thought it was something I did......) Doc
I bet you are right. I had a ring with a bunch of Allen/Hex wrenches on it but did not have one that fit in the screw hole correctly, and none of the set I had were missing, so I went to Autozone and let the counter guy look at it. My betting is that the star driver is the same general size as the correct hex wrench and therefore worked ok since there was little torque involved either in getting one screw to back out or getting the new one to go in. If it required torque it might have been a stripping problem. I looked at the screw several times with a flash light and with my near sighted eyes it looked, and still looks like a hex to me, but, hey whatever works. Wonda what Blonda used?
I need to post this every week or so just so the new people can see it. We're having a 300M meeting on 3/16 in Carlsbad, CA. If you live in the southwest we'd love to have you attend. Visit http://www.ritchiefamily.com/sdmeet.htm for details!
The shifter knob is very easy to change out should take less then two minuts. I have the Alpine 852A DVD navigation system in my car and love it. It is very expensive though. $2000 with warranty. I have seen it as low as $1700. I got mine from Ebay brand new. They seem to run around $1200-1400 there. Alpine also has the 851 model which is also DVD based but, is not as fast and lacks some of the features of the 852. They also have the older 751, which is CD based, but if you want the whole country it is cheaper to get the 851 model. DVD upgrades are $300 and CD upgrades are $150 and 7 CD's are needed for the country, you do the math. Just check out the coverage areas to see if your area is detailed. Which means your system will show actual streets. not just the major ones. The thing is like haveing a street atlas with you. It is perfect?, no, but it has saved me from making a lot if mistakes during yard sales. Mopar has a model CD based for $1500 at the dealers, and there are also hand held units. One last thing, you will need a monitor to go with most of the navigation systems. they run form $300 and up depending on the size and resolution. In a few days I hope to have my site up again. I will have the latest pictures there.
Do your windows have metalic tint if they do it will interfer more then the rear radio antenna will. The only time you will have interferance is when you are using the phone. are you using an induction type antenna? (meaning no wire through the glass) Where the antenna attaches to the glass and an receiver attaches to the inside of the glass under the antenna. This type is prone to interfer more with the radio. Are you using the stock radio or an after market one. some have auto mute capability (mine does and it shuts down the sound while talking).
Does anyone know if after market calipers are available for the M? I'm considering going the cross drilled rotors route, but I would also like to change out the factory calipers at the same time if possible.
Hey, better stop that. Pretty soon that silver beauty won't even look like an M.
FYI, I haven't been around because of a double whammy. My folks are visiting for two weeks from the frozen coast AND I have a terrible cold. I have managed, however, to install my visor plaques, my mopar cell phone holder, a dog-proof screen door, and two bathroom sinks. Also cleaned off my work bench in the garage (all day project), and tomorrow I start tearing out our kitchen sink for a new stainless one. Let's see how this dremmel handles ceramic tile! Being unemployed is a double edged sword. I have the time to do projects but not the funds. Guess I can't have my cake and eat it too.
Oh, saw my first '02 in the neighborhood. It was black and shiney. I would have followed it but it was going the wrong way. If you come across it, card it. Same with the elusive gold M in the Office Depot parking lot. Every time I go past there I look for it. People at Albertsons must think I'm casing the joint by now.
I've got the stock radio (the upgraded w/4cd). I'm going to attach one of the antennas you described - it sticks to both sides of the glass. I had thought of putting it below the antenna and on the defroster area (though the heat could be an issue). I don't have any tint (one day maybe
Sorry to hear about your cold; I can empathize though; had one myself a few weeks back. Good news is you're gettin' lots of stuff done. I've seen a couple of '02's around, but not the black one, mostly up on the 15. I'm trying to figure out how to card them at 75mph. Maybe if I can get them to draft me the card will just stick to their windshield! LOL I'm not positive but one of the new M's I saw was a pearl white cream color. Must be a new '02 color? Anyway, it was sorta nice with lots of custom possibilities. The seemingly forever sound system project is finally done (at least for now). I took out the Bazookas, they were just too "boomy" and went with a sealed box with twin 10" Kicker Solo-Baric's. Added a Kicker ZR600 amp running in mono for power and I'm finally happy with the bass. Lot's of great "punch" with no boom! Problem is I gave up most of my trunk space. Oh well, that's what the wife's Durango is for. Right? Take care and I'll talk to ya later!
sdmike2: which Glenn were to typing to---glennbp OR me regarding Silver Beauty? Lemme know when 'the package' gets to your casa. Curious to see how LONG it actually does take to get to youse. Snowing/sleeting in NYC....horizontally....don't think it'll stick, but one never know, do one?
Sorry pal, I meant glennbp. You should have guessed that from my mention of mods ;p I'll let you know when the package arrives. The people at the FIRST EVER 300M CLUB SOCAL MEET will certainly be pleasantly surprised by the stuff we're going to have for them (a plug for the meet with added incentive).
Well, my dealer just called me about my water leak. They are blaming the leak on the stereo installation. They say that the grommet that was used to run the 1 gauge wire was causing the leak. I could believe that this was the problem, BUT my installer called me before they had drilled one hole in the car to notify me that the carpet was wet. Even after having the stereo shop call the dealership and explaining all of this, they say that the problem was caused by the stereo and is NOT covered under warranty.....to the tune of $622. I had called the sales manager the day that I was initially told about the leak to notify him that I had yet another water problem and was told to go through the body shop to have it checked. I had the stereo installation completed and then took the car in.
Im caught in a catch 22 here because if the stereo shop didnt call me to tell me about the problem, their insurance would pay for the repairs but because it was a preexisting problem they will not pay. The dealership says that because it was caused by the stereo installation, Chrysler will not cover it under warranty. I just can possibly see how water from the grommet on the drivers side of the vehicle can mysteriously jump over the hump to the passenger side!
I asked the service manager what if I pay the money and they fix the supposed problem and after the next rain I have a swimming pool again, would I get my 600 bucks back......you probably can guess the answer here......Hell no! but that they would try to resolve the problem again.
So, now Im pretty much screwed here. Im going to have to pay the money so I can get my car back but Im going to call Chrysler and start a complaint file on this car. The car is still apart and drying and hopefully Ill get it back by friday. Ill keep you posted... -Mike

What I find fascinating is the reflection of the interior in the chrome, I have a sun roof and it is interesting to look at.
