I recently emailed the makers of the E-RAM http://www.electricsupercharger.com asking them if they've installed one on a 300M. He basically said that we should expect a 10HP increase to the wheels similar to the 3.2L Porsche engine. He also said they give a 5% discount for 5-10 orders. I'm kinda intrigued about this product.

Most people here say it won't do anything, yet doing a search on the internet has brought up some sites with it installed and the owners love it. I guess I'll have to save my pennies and someday get one of these things. I know my M will do 1/4 mile in 16 seconds. I'd like to get it down into the 15s, though.

I really doubt it does much. As I understand, you'd have to get at least 4-6psi boost before you would have a true improvement (that's according mostly to what I've read on the boards btw ;)

My main issue with the rep is that he says 'if it's similar to the 3.2l Porsche engine.' Is ours really similar? I don't know, but I'd doubt it. And the tranny is 'somewhat' different (since they have stick and rwd, we have auto and fwd) and I believe that would have an impact as well.

hello, fastdriver and hello to all.....funny how people remember things....first an update on some stuff...if some of you don't know yet, I have been downsized and my last day on the Fed's roles is October 1st, 2002. Tell me that doesn't $uck...I get a separation package which fortunately includes most of my benie's except for dental which I'll have for 6 months. Get years $$$, paid for almost 10 weeks vacation, $5K for school and an outplacement service for 3 months.

From what my fellow downsiz-eessay, I got a sha-weet deal, but would give it all back just to keep my job. Its a shame how some management can really screw-up 5 people's lives (I wasn't the only one shafted...) by creating an artifical work shortage, but thats what they did.

The area I work(ed) in decided they wanted to pick and choose projects, decided they didn't have to get back to a client on the phone or by emails. The clients would call ME up asking what the frell is wrong with your management? Told them I'm not the one you should be asking....etc etc......they pretty much let the horse out of the barn and then wondered WHY people/clinets were doing ALL their own work....they were shocked to find this out...also, the downsizing explained a lot of things that the Doc couldn't see-till the downsizing....

LAst couple of years got really crappy performance appraisals (Performance Appraisal: a method by which people who know nothing about your job proceed to tell what you did wrong or could have been done differently in your job that THEY knew nothing about). This resulted in even CRAPPIER raises in January. hmmmmm...crappy P.A. + crappi-ER raises for a couple of years EQUALS less $$$ to Doc when they shi..er.....downsize him ( ! ) <--revelation time.

    9-11-02....today
Time now in Noo Joisey is around 7:45pm...have finished watching most of the stuff on TV regarding the anniversary. Actually had seen some stuff late last week....this past year has been a nightmare, as the images that they kept repeating on the tv.....I no longer need to watch on tv as they play in my head. Nightmares on a regular basis, lack of sleep...all the thing they quaintly refer to post tramatic stress syndrome I was and still am suffering from. I know, I know....I should seek counseling, but right now, getting a new job is priority NUMBER ONE. By day I email/call anyone I can think of, and by night I become an internet vampire trolling the web sites for job hunts looking for a succulent juicy NEW job.....show you how well I'm doing....I'm loosing weight.... the 'outplacement service' folks are very nice...kind of like personal cheerleader, because God knows I can use one. There are days when I can't see the BOTTOM of the hole while I'm looking UP....

As a result of this downsizing, I had to notify Rogor and Club board that I had to resign as Vice President and creator of membership packages...I must devote all my energies to finding myself a new job, and I did not want to have 'this thing of ours' suffer in any way because of my lack of time to do the best job I could possibly do.
I understand that replacements for these two key positions have been found, and I am relieved about that. I ask that you not be angry at me because of this....the Club is near and dear to me and I will continue to be involved -when time permits-in the maintenance of the Club web site.

As for my wife..she has had her second rotator cuff surgery on the SAME right shoulder...it seems to be healing properly and is going through the physical therapy routines which even on a good day are painful. My knee has healed --outwardly--but am still having difficulty walking, so a new job in NY is pretty much outta the question; and will focus on looking in NJ...

Also, need to know HOW to search archives of this Chryler forum--there is a sie: www.911.gmu.edu
that is archiving electronic transmissions/messages/images of 9/11/01. Since I was 2 blocks from the horror, I wanted to notify them of the messages I was posting to keep you all informed about what was going on....if anyone knows of HOW to find the messages/postings for 9/11 of 2001, please let me know at GBeye@att.net

    Doc
Hope to see some of you-briefly-in the chatroom tonight.

I remember your comments from 9/11 vividly.

Enter search message # 9230 to get you in the ball-park. That will get you near absolute message # 8800 or so. (The way the system is numbered, the numbers are off as certain messages are deleted...)

Your first 9/11 message is currently listed as message 8804.

Anyway, this will get you there.

    Hang in there doc......!!

More off topic, but this group is dead as of late, so it shouldn't be too much of a problem. If it is, I'm sure someone will notify me ASAP.

Good to hear from you. I understand what you're saying. Last year I told you that my cousin's husband, 30 years old, was killed in Tower 2 that day. He wasn't even supposed to go to work that day because my cousin was 7 months pregnant and had a Dr.'s appointment in the afternoon. He told his wife that he just had to run into the office for a short time to finish up a few things and then he would come home to take her to her appointment. When Tower 1 was hit, he called her to say that there was a "fire" in Tower 1 and that he was leaving to come home. That was the last she ever heard from him. Just 2 weeks ago they found a piece of his heel that they identified from DNA testing. I have not talked to her since then, but I know that she feels that there is "some" closure to this situation now. I understand that she still has boxes to unpack since they had just moved into a new house before he was killed.

Watching TV on and off today brought all of this rushing back to me and I wasn't even THERE! I'm seeing/hearing things that were never mentioned last year. I only saw what was on TV. I have not been to NY even though I have plenty of opportunity to do so. I can't even imagine what you feel from that day. I can only say that hopefully time will heal all and make those memories fade.

As for your wife, a friend of mine had the same surgery once! She saw the Dr. recently. He asked her how her arm was. She said, "It's fine if I don't use it!" Guess the success rate for this kind of operation varies greatly.

As for the 300M club, I'm sure everyone understands and knows that you're not dumping them. I just don't know where everyone has gone. Guess they're all "modded" out and "5-STARRED" out! LOL......

Hope things turn around for you soon and that you get to read this before they delete it.

Glad to see your post. Stay upbeat if you can. I have been told, and have seen in several instances, that it can take 6 months to a year to get the right job;, so although the stress is high the right end result will come along in a while. We are all pulling for you. By Cruise time next year I am sure you will be "in tall cotton" again.

Just very busy with the new job, the kids being back in school, my wife being ill, and various projects going around in the house. I usually get to read here and browse the club boards once every couple of days, but posting takes too much time right now. lol

Hey doc, one thing you need to do immediately is to make a list of all of your friends and even acquaintences and start contacting them. This is what got me my job. 80% of all jobs are not advertised, and linking into your personal network provides you the best opportunity for new employment. While it may feel uncomfortable (i.e. "personal spamming") people didn't seem to mind at all when I called up and said "I know it's been a long time, but I'm calling all of my personal contacts just to get the word out that I'm in the job market again and ask that you keep your eyes open for opportunities". A nice conversation usually follows. :) Remember, it's a heck of a lot better to have someone carry/send your resume to the HR department (or hiring manager) of their own company than for them to get your resume out of the blue. Make that "heck of a lot better" to the 10th power. :)

    Good luck bud!
  • sdmike2sdmike2 Member Posts: 2,909
ok..admit it...you were more concerned that BigRed was ok. lol! By the way, congrats on the victory! That was awesome! I've never done anything like that before and have only a basic understanding about how it works (consistency is better than speed?), but anytime you can bring home a trophy is a GOOD time. :)
  • videoman1videoman1 Member Posts: 201
Good to hear everything is going well with you, your job and Big Red. Thanks for the congrats too.

Yes, consistency is better than speed. It's amazing watching some of these pros run. They know the times of their cars down to the hundredths of seconds. In fact, they have to "dial in" to the 100th of a second. For instance 10.23 seconds. For the trophey class that I was in, we only had to dial in to the 10th second. I dailed in at 16.1. Now if both drivers go over their dial in time, then the first person to the finish line wins. So I guess in that instance, speed wins. However, you don't want to go under your dial in time. If you do, you loose. If you both do, then whoever was closest to their dial in time wins. Whew....got that?

There was one time where both drivers hit their dial in time exactly and they used the reaction time (how quickly they got off the line) to determine the winner.

If the winner was only determined by speed, I wouldn't go near the place. I think our Ms were the 3rd slowest cars there.

can the third slowest car bring home the trophy.
Congrats vidio. I guess it is kind of like golfing, with handycaps. Although I do like it when the fastest cars in their class actually win. This is for political correctness i guess. I do wish we had a track here that didn't cost $5K to do that.

I baked some lenses last night and found out that 15min at 400deg is too long for the lexan, but is OK for the rest of the light assembly. Lots of air bubbles formed in the lens. at that temp the lens and assemblys just seperate real easy. Will try lower temps and times next time, before I mess with the headlamps. Science marches on.....

but they're on my wife's new T-bird. She's been dreaming about a convertible for nearly 20 years so I opened the wallet and made us both happy. First time I've EVER started negotiations over sticker -- and felt good to get them down to "only" 2K over sticker. Sheesh!

My garnet 2000 300-M now has a new steering wheel on order. The old one was coming off in small chunks underneath my left hand. I'll let you guys know what I think of the new one when it comes in.

We're taking the T-bird on the open road next week on a break-in cruise. Hope we get convertible weather.

On the local news a few days ago appeared an odd story, involving (if you couldn't guess) a 300M. As it turns out, the car was stolen a day or two before the incident. On the day of what happened, residents in the area remembered hearing 2 gunshots, and then soon thereafter, seeing a firey glow through the trees. What it eventually turned out to be was a Chryler 300M that had been stolen, a person shot and placed in the trunk, and then the car was set on fire.

Burnt to a crisp pretty much explains it, and I also noticed that it had aftermarket custom wheels. Take a look at some pics I snapped on the tv:

nice pics , Beach--now thats the kind of contribution you should be making to this site----hope the owner wasnt one of our members

That story displays another fine attribute of the M--the trunk has lots of room in it--enough to store a body or two--great for sneaking into drive-ins or disposing of a body if the need arises.

And I thought "The Boys" only used LHS's with the bigger trunks.

Beach showed the fire, now here's a photo from today's newspaper showing flooding on I-25 in Denver (part of the huge T-REX construction project). The first car in a line of semi-submerged cars is an M. What a bummer!

Here's the online story, with another photo showing the woman getting rescued from the roof of the M (or, just a link to that photo).

Ok folks, I'm building a case against Chrysler in case they dont want to fix this. Not long ago, I mentioned how my headlight lenses were clouding over and that it looks like the lenses have dried out and cracked. I finally took some pictures of my car and some other cars that are nearby me at work. I even took some pictures of some cars in Boston while I was there on business this week. I live in Austin, Tx. Here are the links, notice where the images are circled, these are not dirty lenses, they always look like this.

    This ones mine:

    Another friend:

Now mind you, the red and black cars lenses look ok from a distance, but up close there are lots of small cracks on the lenses that you can feel. Almost every car I have checked has the cracks to some extent, most are just starting out while some are getting like my car, like the red one. I have not shown this to the dealer yet, but I'm going in Monday. I expect they wont want to cover it, but we'll see. If they say no, I will bring this up as a safety issue to the nhtsa and to court.

  • blondablonda Member Posts: 542
Denverm -- there was a photo in my local paper that clearly showed the rear end of that M bobbing up and down in the water from a side view. I wonder how long it will take to dry out!
  • blondablonda Member Posts: 542
I have never seen an M with lenses like that here in CA. It's odd, but your pictures clearly show the benefits of having a bra on the M....lots of hood chips on your friends and that red one.
  • reybeastreybeast Member Posts: 35
Yeah, I wish I had bought a bra now. Also, have you guys seen this before, I found it this am at:

I've been averaging ~21mpg in mixed driving running 87 usually purchased from Rojo in Norwood. I will admit, however, that most of the time I drive with a fairly light foot (acceleration-wise that is. On the highway, comfy cruising 75-85mph...). Child of "gas crisis" of the 70s, I guess...

Sox stink. Season ended 7/23 when they lost to the D-Rays in the second game of a doubleheader. They won first 22-4!!! Derek Lowe pitches 8 shutout innings in the nightcap, bullpen gives up 5 runs in the ninth and Sox lose. They never recovered. Good players that just don't know how to win. Now the Pats, that's another story.

Sorry, just had to vent about the Sox.

They have in insert (couple of pages) of new things they are selling. How-a-bout LED/lighted exhaust tips? Shifter knobs, lens of all types. Not cheap, but interesting.

Michael, you're going to need a portable nuke plant to power your 300M soon....just how many add-ons and mods do you have in it now? I'm starting to think you are the test bed for DC's accessory engineering department!

Wondering about the chrysler wing you put on the trunk.was it flat on the back or did you just fill it in with tape??I got one but it is a little tapered and will have to be filled in a little to make it flat.

Julia Roberts was locked in the trunk of a gold 300M in the movie "The Mexican" . The car rental agency in Mexico kept offering "a Chrysler...it's brand new" but everyone kept rejecting it for something more "authentic" (like a classic muscle car, etc.) and they'd walk right past a gold M with aluminum wheels to get to it. The slimey guy in the movie of course takes the M and subsequently locks Julia in the trunk. They never show the entire car though except for the shot in at the rental agency.

Saw them lit up at the auto show an after market vendors booth. They really looked quite nice not gaudy the led are recessed in a ring in the tip not out on the ends. Asked about the heat melting the wiring and they said they have been selling them for about a year with no problems.
  • jab02lhsjab02lhs Member Posts: 122
Went to the Chrysler Route 2002 here in Cleveland today. They had two Acura's to test drive against the 300M Specials no one even wanted to try them the were just sitting their.
I did try one after the 300M Because I had heard that a couple of 300M owners had traded their M's for them and I wanted to see why.
Still don"t know why I was not impressed with anything about the car.
Was real impressed with the M Special though. My wife has the 01 LHS and it is probably the right ride for her, but I really liked the handling of the M a lot better for myself.
A little excitement on the acceleration part of the ride. Had it floored and three quarters of the way down the lane a Grand Cherokee from the Jeep track next to ours makes a wrong turn and cuts across in front of me, love those anti lock brakes. The poor kid riding shotgun was all shock up and had to go sit down when we got back.

Did they make you sign a liability waiver---were there any rules about speed, revs, etc?

My brother has the acura TL and is happy with it and it has been very dependable for the first 15K. But my car when parked next to his just looks much more sexy. The styling of the Acura is bland in comparison. And the seats in the M are larger and more comfortable in my opinion. His nav system is nice but not nice enough to make we want to purchase that car over the M.
  • bigmike5bigmike5 Member Posts: 960
As I recall, the wing emblem did seem to have a slight curve in it when I got it and I was a little concerned about it, but I took a stack of old 33 rpm records [I guess a stack of books would do just as well] and laid them on top of it on a flat surface for a day or two. Then I just took off the tape on the back and applied the emblem, and it took without any fill or additional shoe goo being applied to help the adhesion.
On the downside, the body shop says that the wing emblem will have to come off when they repaint the trunk because of the damage I got in a parking lot while at a restaurant in Boston. That, plus the spoiler, 3rd brake light "300" and striping all have to be redone. Bummer.
  • 300michael300michael Member Posts: 1,815
the emblem is stright. I used tape to hold mine while the goo set. The Goo cements the emblem (as I didn't want it comming off anytime soon) Double side tape works too, but makes the emblem stick out a little more.
  • bigmike5bigmike5 Member Posts: 960
Maybe there is more than one wing emblem out there in the marketplace. Mine was part #4857279-AA. I do recall just a slight curve in it, but its been on the car for well over a year now with no problem, using just the stick-um it came with.
  • kosh_2258kosh_2258 Member Posts: 338
Yep there is more than one wing emblem. The one for the LHS and the one for the T&C van.

If you get the wing emblem for the LHS it's too curved to conform to the 300M trunk. You can flatten it but why bother.

You can get the wing emblem used on the lift gate of the 2000 Town and Country and it's a perfect fit curvature and all. That's what I got for M and it went right on no problems.

I'll get the P/N and post it when I get home tonight, but I think the number bigmike posted is it.
