Yeah I use the cal water blade, its great! Very little towel drying needed. The only caution is the car must be very clean or you risk scratching the paint.

Sounds like a must have. Where can I found out about it and get it? I use a $5 window squeegie.

You know, the newer checkered 300M shield just doesn't cut it when printed on the color inkjet printer. It is better on the b/w laser writer, but the older line art version shows up much better. Keep this in mind when ordering.

If the checkered logo is desired with a color clock face (text is not color, wing logo is color), I could supply two transparancies that overlap each other...

Is that 3 holes I see drilled into the bottom of your mirrors? Or is it termite damage:)?
  • 300michael300michael Member Posts: 1,815
You mentioned you have an extra left headlight assembly for the 300M. If you could email me a price, I may have a need for it. I will know for certian by the middle of next week.

Our local Wal Mart carries them. Before I knew that I ordered mine from Jegs Performance. www.jegs.com

The front hole came with this mirror, I drilled the other two. The other mirror had to have all three holes drilled.
  • scotianscotian Member Posts: 1,064
These things are made of plastic, right? Mine look cloudy, probably from little things hitting them at high speed. I can't see how true HID lights would ever work in these housings, since HID requires such a clean lens that it has to have its own cleaning system. It would disperse light all over the place. How do everyone's headlights look?

Just test drove a brand new 300. I am 6' 3" and could not stand to be packed into that tomb of a car. How can a car that is so big on the outside be so small and uncomfortable on the inside. The salesman went on about the digital compass, speakers in the window, trick-a-tonic automatic transmission, bells and whistles. Really my leg is cramping even with the seat all the way back and down, my head is hitting the roof. It stinks. The LHS and Concord are the same way.

6'4" and the M is fine for me...

    and I have a sunroof!

Now ask me about how I feel in my friend's LS and I'll tell you a different story...

I'm 6'2" and have driven my 300M for more than two years now and I believe the 300M to be the most comfortable short and long road trip car I've ever owned. I can literally drive it all day long and when I stop and get out, I don't feel like I've been driving at all.

IMHO, I think you're comment "tomb of a car" has deeper connotations than you're letting on.

I'm 6'4", have a sunroof, and do just fine. I do have my seat back reclined a fair amount, and my hair sometimes grazes the roof, but I decided I wanted the sunroof anyway and haven't regretted it. Going without it would have given more than enough headroom. There are a LOT of other owners in this height range who are pleased with the room in the car.
  • pjyoungpjyoung Member Posts: 885
6'4" and I fit fine. Matter of fact, I like sitting pretty upright when I drive. You must be all torso frankss. I don't have a sunroof in mine, but the one in the showroom I sat in had one and my hair didn't brush the headliner, so I doubt there would have been a problem for me either. It's the most comfortable car I've owned. I do remember sitting in a late 70's Continental with a sunroof. Very clear view of the road, as my eyes were above the roofline!
  • scotianscotian Member Posts: 1,064
Did you adjust the seat all the way down as well as back? I can adjust my seat so it is very uncomfortable. But I don't, and it is verrrrry comfortable (the seats could have a little more "sides" to them for cornering, though). I'm 6'2" with sunroof (the car has a sunroof, that is).

Feel free to nab any photos. If I didn't want anyone to take my photos, you would have heard me screeming about the exhaust diagram a year ago. Sharing information is what this group is all about.

Sit in any of the other vehicles in this price and class range, and you prpbably would not fit into them at all. Try a full size SUV you might be able to squeeze into one of them.
  • malyelmalyel Member Posts: 46
I'm 6'5, 260lbs and I have no problem fitting in my M. The M had more interior room than any other sedan I looked at.

Racefan009- I think you are right!

Rscheller-I mean the seating is very snug between the door and the center console-the dash comes up very far towards the driver, and legs in a tunnel.

To all- peppy motor, good air cond, quiet ride
  • sleepymwsleepymw Member Posts: 65
have you considered walking instead? there's plenty of head room, leg room and whatever else you want in the great outdoors.

IMHO, I think you won't be happy with ANY car. 300M isn't for everyone, it's for those who can appreciate its heritage, performance, and the extras. it's the best deal for what you can get in this price range.

good luck, the weather is getting nice out, so walking shouldn't pose too much of a problem.

    ruski-

Was in West Palm Beach area last week. When I was on I-95, I kept looking for you! I know you're a little further South, but thought I might see you around. LOL... Didn't see too many 300's there. More Ferraris and Rolls, Jags and Porsches then anything else.

Come back to a ton of new messages that has taken me a week to read because I'm having too MUCH fun driving the new car! Have over 1,900 miles so far and I only got it a month ago tomorrow and didn't drive it for 8 days because I was away! Don't think I've ever liked a car so much as this one. You know what I've driven in the past- I don't just mean Christine.

So far, I have never gotten below 21.4 MPG's. Guess a long trip should get the label MPG of 29, maybe more. You know what's strange- when I had Christine, I rarely saw ANY 300's around here- maybe 2-3 a WEEK. Since Christine is gone, I see about 2-3 a DAY!! LOL.... Guess they were all afraid to be seen anywhere near her! I don't blame them.

I think Christine is going to end up in the Newport, RI area. Seems as if the dealer there is negotiating with Chrysler Financial to buy her. Guess they're going by LOOKS alone- that Zaino shine must have dazzled them! They probably never thought to run the VIN. ;-)) Anyone looking for a 99 Candy Apple Red 300M better have the dealer check the VIN to make sure it's NOT Christine! The automatic power down window stopped working automatically months ago. The weather stripping on the driver's side rear door fell down all by itself a long time ago. I just shoved it back up because didn't want to hear ANY "5- STAR" excuses if I took it in to be repaired. That particular door was rarely opened. If it was opened 20-25 times in 3 years that would be a lot. The other ones seemed okay, but I didn't look too closely because the lease was coming to an end and the car was still under warranty so Chrysler could fix it themselves.

    John The Bruce-

Didn't realize you were so close to me here in CT. Wish I had known that when I had Christine. We could have compared notes. Is Stevens REALLY a "5-STAR" dealer?

If you have a Target store near you they carry them. They are much cheaper at Target than if you get them on line. The package that its in at Target is not called by the brand name, its repackaged but the contents say california water blade so its the real deal.

Anyone know where I can get these. These are the white no crimp connectores, that hold 2 wires together. You see them advertisied on auto shows. I tried Kmart, Walmart, auto chain stores radio shack, & no one has them. Most don't even know what I'm talking about. I went to their website, but it's no help.

After about 11 days out on a trip from KY to Houston for the Shell Open, am back and trying to catch up to the board. Geez, its hard to catch up. Anyway, saw very few Ms maybe 3 each way on the trip. A couple passed me as I was doing about 70 and disappeared. Took the wife's 00 Eldorado ESC and was chagrined to see that 8 cyl Northstar pumping out 28.8 mpg. At times in Louisiana before we hit some hills and construction slow downs/stops we were at 30.2 mpg, and I averaged about 70 mph all the way except for construction. Ya got to love I-55 in MS and I-40 from Memphis to Nashville--smooth sailing all the way. On the way back, we got 28 mpg and this was all on regular. Her car is just thru break-in, and after the trip still only has 6.5K miles on it. My 99M has yet to come close to those mpg figures. Oh yes, and gas from here to there averaged $1.48 to 1.52 per gallon for regular. Of course, here in KY they gouge another dime out of us for the same stuff. Weird. To the guy who felt cramped in an M, try an Eldorado and you will see that the M is plenty bigger in the leg room area by a couple of inches at least. Of course I also noticed that where the M motor compartment is crammed full, the ESC has almost 2 feet of empty space between the motor and the grill area. That space could have been put to better use in the passenger area. Anyway, we are all different and tolerate different things in different ways. If the M is not your bowl of cherries, go for something else, but don't knock its interior room. Its the best I have seen for the price.

My 5' 9 4999/9998ths" frame fits great in my 300M. Seeing the numerous 6'+ drivers who posted makes me wonder if the 300M driver is taller as a group than the non-300M driver. Possibly related to additioanl cranial area needed for above normal allotment of brain matter? Rogor should post that at the website as a survey to see the average height. Now that's an interesting demographic I'm sure DC never considered.
  • dustinnewtondustinnewton Member Posts: 242
Frank-Interesting. I'm 6'2", weigh 275 pounds, and have a size 15 shoe to shove up under the dash and I am perfectly comfortable and have several inches of head and side clearance. Did you try lowering the seat all the way down in addition to moving it back. One of the main reasons that I bought the M was it's cavernous interior. Plenty of cabin room, front and back. Are you sure you weren't in a Neon?!?! ;-) Race is right, you'll probably need a Town Car.
Scotian-No problem buddy! Help yourself! If you need some from a different perspective or a close up, let me know and I'll make them for you.

All-The races at Talladega were 300M city! Saw close to 10 each day! I'm seeing about 6 around town each day. Even more PT Cruisers! I would have loved to have seen 300's going around those 33 degree banked turns! Good race, no cautions (in the Sunday race at least. BIG wreck in the Busch race on Saturday). LOTS of people were checking out the M. 180,000 in traffic for several hours!

This morning I had a strange vibration that I felt in my seat. It was intermittant, and I wondered if I was running over something in the road. I switched lanes, but it continued. I wondered if there was a problem with my suspension or my tires.

Then I reached into my back pocket and pulled out my vibrating cell phone.

Room- I am only 5'9" and have more than enough room. My coworker who is 6'7" loves riding in my car. He drives a huge SUV, but thinks the 300M would work for him. He only weighs 250, but is long in the waist. My guess is it is a width, not a height problem.

Fast Driver. Glad you like your new car, but if you can't drop christine and move on with your life, do your bellyaching somewhere else!

My mileage has improved to around 23.5 per tank at 4k. I averaged almost 30 on a 65 mile trip with a good tail wind last weekend. I get 2 or better miles per gallon improvement when using 89 octane.
  • ruskiruski Member Posts: 1,566
I have quite the opposite visual impressions of a 300M - it looks small from outside and HUGE on the inside.

Maybe you need a horse. The big, Belgian work horse.

    Thank you. Drive through.

I was looking at our 300mclub.org site and search throught the TSBs. I noticed there is one for the sticking windows which many of us have experienced. Does anyone know what the TSB states as a cure for this. Do they replace the window rubber? any info on this

See... this is my number one complaint and reason I absolutely hate about reformulated gasoline.

My MPG's are never above 20 for a full tank of gas, be it in summer, winter or otherwise -- IF I FILL UP WITH REFORMULATED (OXYGENATED) GASOLINE!

I know it's not my driving -- I achieved over 400 miles on a single tank of gas coming out of New Mexico last year, travelling at over 85mph the whole way. At 85 MPH! I got 25mpg at 85! I should get incredible numbers at 65 or 55! But I don't!

I know it's not my driving, because when I go to Indiana and their 100% gas, I get at least 5-8mpg MORE!

I just flipping hate these environmentalists who ram their brand of pseudoscience down my throat, and expect me to pay for it.

So instead of 23 mpg (being conservative) and getting 380+ miles or so out from a tank, I can only go around 280 before I need a bloody fill up.

They say it's cleaner for the environment -- might be true... but it better be that much cleaner to accomodate for my added fuel consumption and subsequent exhaust!

Sugar continues to be a blast! No PHP but it can hang with the best of them. Question on the Autostick: in the left lane going approx 70-75, I often come up on slooow moving traffic. I'll check my mirrors, downshift to 3rd, blow past grandma, upshift back to 4th & be on my way. It usually dosen't go past 4,000-4,500 rpms but the power surge, esp. after upshifting is incredible. With all the tranny issues I hear about w/ this car, should I be concerned that I'm killing Sugar's tranny? I don't get any weird noises (other than my wife's "watch your speed!") so I don't think is a problem. What do you all think?
  • sugar300msugar300m Member Posts: 61
Still laughing at that one :). I thought you had a real problem.
  • sdmike2sdmike2 Member Posts: 2,909
Yeah. That ranks up there with my "rattle" that turned out to be my sunglasses, and my "broken window motor" that turned out to be my son having pushed my window lock button. :) My only real problem has turned out to be gas mileage. Even with the Duals and K&N I'm having to work hard to average 18.5.

Could be a concern. When Sugar was new, I broke her in easy & could get 24-25 mpg, mostly highway driving. Now that I tear up the road & wife drives her to work, we get around 21-22 mpg.

    Yo Ottowrkr:
Didn't know you worked at the Canadian plant. Mind you I work for the Army don't necessarily mean I know what's going on two doors down from me 8:)
Anyways, just called up my contact and he said that last he heard it was cancelled. But that he would check up the line and see whether he could get anymore info. Said it was a concept car and that with these perilous times they decided to bring in more vans/trucks and cancel the Charger. It would truly be a shame UNLESS of course they were to revive the Roadrunner 8-)

Has anyone tried the Borla cat-back system on their M? I see that the So-cal M used it. I know it's more expensive than the duals but are there any other issues with it? Any info on it would be helpful.

you can get a good look at a t-bone by sticking your head up a bull's wahoo, but wouldn't you rather take the butchers word for it??? (chris farley "tommy boy") Otto has not been wrong once about anything plant related in the last year he has been posting here. and when they start building the charger/300n we will be the first civilians to know about it.

please for the love of North American automobiles everywhere, quit putting those gaudy useless lights on the m. the front turn signals wrap around the bottom of the fascia. no need to make the m look like a passat. if i see any of you with these on the highway, you're going to get the rams head emblem embedded right on the front fender. :))) no i'm serious.

Mykem-I know what you mean. My MPG will go down Tuesday...the day they start selling that reformulated crap. Our smog is so bad in the summer that you can't see the buildings downtown, but I personally think it's gotten worse since the "cleaner" gas. Plus, it's 5-7 cents more per gallon. They're wanting to test emissions next. We're following in the footsteps of Atlanta. Everything we're doing has worked there...NOT!!! It's like the blind leading the blank.

Sugar-Think about it this way...if you're going to trash the tranny (if it's even possible), do it while the M is under warranty!

Race-I think we're tied for the most perfect M. No rattles, bumps, tranny problems, noises, smoke, noise, shrinking anything, mileage problems, finish problems, etc., on mine either! A passat? Or a Mercedes, BMW, and I also believe Ferrari and possibly Lamborghini. The US is just about the only country in the world that doesn't have them on the M. S. America, Japan, European models all ahve them. I guess we come in last again!

Hey, maybe you could wire the neon so it blinks on one side when you put your turn signal on!
