The dealer price for a RES ceiling unit is nearly $2600, even though the *entire* RES (including the player unit in the dash and an upgraded head unit in the dash) is only a $1600 option on a new 2007 Odyssey. My ceiling unit (but not my dvd player) was stolen from my 2005 Odyssey, so it sure seems like the cost to replace just part of it should be less than $1600.00.
None are on Ebay now and none have been on Ebay in the last 60 days. Froogle.Google doesn't turn up anything useful. Any suggestions?

or, consider using someone else's display:

i bet you could go to a car audio specialist and find out what would be an easy install. i presume since yours is missing, you can see what you need to do. probably you could purchase an aftermarket display, and have someone else put it in.
Their exploded parts / sub-system views are great. the prices are a side-benefit.
Funny, after making that post last night, I commented to my wife, hey, this person is gonna save hundreds based on one hyperlink if he/she chooses to purchase OEM. Even more if aftermarket.
Isn't Edmunds great? :shades: Unfortunately my wife doesn't think so.
You are most welcome. As they say, pass it on.
Curious.....
Thanks.....
i had good luck purchasing the OEM CD player that works with the LX radio&cassette. I bought that on Handa's site.

follow that link. you'll see the two DVD systems they sell. examine the installation instructions. now then, that should give you an idea what you need to do. if you wanted to do a complete system but aftermarket.
isn't the internet great?
Thanks
NOt that I have done it, but I believe you can also slide the RH side middle seat over if you take the +1 out to make a bench seat.
I just leave it in our Ody. Actually use it more often than I expected we would.

1. I notice that both the WeatherTech floor mats and Floorliner have a one-piece mat in the second row. However, the second row in my van has an under-floor compartment, which obviously will not be usable with these mats. Are there other mats on the market that have an opening for the under-floor compartment?
2. I notice that the WeatherTech floorliner has high edges. Does this interfere with walking around inside the van?
3. Which website(s) sells the rubber cargo tray/mat used just in the cargo area (besides the Honda site)?
I appreciate all the advice. Thanks greatly.

if she is a safety freak I guarentee you, she doesn't have the side view mirrors adjusted optimally. so i suggest first of all, setting up the side mirrors for optimum angle. that is
1). leaning head against driver window and adjusting side mirror till the vehicle's side just disappears, then
2). leaning over the center table, and adjusting passenger mirror till side of vehicle just disappears.
you and she will need a few days to get used to it, but when you have, there's no going back. this is the proper setting for both side view mirrors to complement the center-rear view mirror, and also minimizes the blind spots on both sides of the vehicle.
now then the rear mirror, even if the RES screen is obstructing some of the immediate rear view, should still show plenty of view below the unit. yes/no? what does she need to see, the whites of the person that is tailgating you? :surprise:
if not, i presume you could mount a temporary (suction cup mount) rear-view mirror off center windshield for this purpose for times when the unit is folded down.
okay, i'll ask. why didn't you go with the OEM unit? :shades:
this question must have come up before. why not google for other possible solutions / mitigations? good luck.
Tell your wife that truckers log a bazillion miles a year with a very good safety record, and they don't have a mirror for looking behind them. I'm sure that will help!
ummm, yeah, i had fairly good results with the backup camera as i've documented (mine is a contrast and brightness model) via pepboys. same cost with discount/rebate.
anyhow, you know you don't really want to be looking at that little LCD display when you are driving or on the highway. too much heads down time. unless you want to see drivers immediately behind you getting angry because your kids are dumping fluids or something like cheese crackers out the windows. :shades:
better / safer to be using those properly adjusted side view mirrors. trust me on the side-view mirror adjustments. once you get used to it, i promise, you won't go back. so so so many people have theirs angled in too much, and have too large of blind spots.
when i back up in a nearby cul-de-sac, there's much less to appreciably no interference. i think they aren't technophiles up at that end of the street.
try backing up in a parking lot like at a school or grocery store and compare. or, if you have a router, try turning it off and do a comparison test.
the instructions illude to interference from these devices. hey, it's only $99.
thanks!
I would like to hot wire / switched wire my radar detector.
Without using a voltmeter, what color wire is it under driver's side fuse box. (I see red, red/white, blue, green....)
Thanks!

Which works better, the backup sensors or the camera? Or should one have both? How long does the camera take to turn on after you turn the car on? W/o a camera, one just turns the car on, hits reverse, and drive. So is a delay introduced?
Thanks, Dan
IMHO, if I had to pick between sensors and camera, I'd take the sensors. Having both would be ideal.
it's a viable option. the nice thing about the model i installed on our ODY, it has both a brightness and a contrast control setting.
i cannot say what is more effective / safer, etc.
Can I buy genuine Honda "All season Floor Mats" for the Odyssey, online at a cheaper rate than what is offered by the dealer? I was looking for the 07 Odyssey.
Thanks

Thanks for the link. The prices mentioned on the website is almost 80 bucks less than the dealer, for the cargo mats.
Also what is the Taupe color for the Floor Mats. I have a Grey interior. Will it match with it?
Thanks

now then, are you looking for mats for adverse weather? the ones you see at the handa site or accessories site should be replacements for what you have, but nothing better.
are you looking for something like this:

possibly, it's a weight issue with the PAX tires/rims and the suspension setup (and one additional passenger) for the EXL-T vs. the other.
Well, for one thing, a middle seat in the 2nd row of a Touring WOULDN'T HAVE A SEATBELT.
Honda also MAY have revised the seat mounting points in the Touring model with the express purpose of preventing people from adding the 8th seat when there is no seatbelt for such a position.
Is this an issue?
Is the AC at times activated automatically and is not displayed with an "A/C ON" message?
Thanks

Is this an issue?
Is the AC at times activated automatically and is not displayed with an "A/C ON" message?
That's pretty much how it works. In fact, if the display doesn't read "A/C OFF" the A/C is running constantly. I discovered this by idling one night, I could hear the compressor cycling constantly. I then hit "A/C Off" and it stopped cycling. We try to make a point of turning the A/C off manually when it's not needed and our gas mileage improves when we do this. Obviously doesn't matter in the summer or when you need conditioned air (humid, raining, etc.) but for 90% of the winter we ran with the A/C off. If you put the system in "auto" and then turn the A/C off it will still maintain the temp automatically.
I keep seeing new cars coming with this same "feature" and I'm not sure what the thought process is behind it. I suppose they know the EPA rating isn't effected by the A/C so what do they care?
Thanks,
Jalimey.
You can get the Honda part, or aftermarket. I think Hidden Hitch is probably the best of the non-Honda units.
OEM is ~300. Aftermark probably about $150.
I got the HOnda one, and had it put on at the trailer place for $40.
The big difference between the Honda and aftermarket is that the Honda unit tucks up behind the rear bumper. You do have to cut a notch for the receiver, but it doesn't look bad if you are careful.
2 benefits to this. 1, you don't have a big ugly hitch hanging below your van (look at some vans in a parking lot to see what I mean), and 2), it sits higher. Less chance of dragging it, and the receiver sits higher off the ground, so the rack doesn't side so low.
Just make sure to get the large reciever (I think it is 2", whatever the Honda piece is). They also sell 1-1/4" units that are much lighter duty.
Oh, and get a good quality rack. Safer, and much easier to use.
