Anyone know if the Iphone is compatible with ody's bluetooth. I'm getting an 08 with nav and res and the dealer offered to install a bluetooth. But before he installs it I need to know if it's compatible with the Iphone? Thanks.
There may be different kind of bluetooth on dealer installed. Best is get back to the dealer to request this info. They should give you a model no. and brochure so you can find out from the manufacturer site or a phome call away.
Hello, I'm interested in the mud flaps. I have a 2008 Odyssey. THESE WILL FIT THIS YEAR? If so, could you give me a shipping quote to zip 60085? The most reasonable shipping please. Overnight not necessary.
Can anyone suggest a good sun shade for an '08 Odyssey. I've bought and returned several without finding a good fit. The only Honda one I found online is not tall enough by about 7 inches. Thanks.
We got tan Weathertech Floor "Liners". Before you make a purchase of any replacement mats you will want to read the posts about floor mats vs liners as their are significant differences.
Back to color. We got tan because in our opinion it looked better, and we learned that most entry level mats only came in black so we wanted to take advantage of the tan option available in the higher tier mats. We do not regret it.
This is very helpful information, but I am a little dumb in visualizing the process. Could you provide a video or drawing or roughly where and how to follow the process? Maybe sharing your mistakes will be helpful too so that I don't go through the same mistakes.
Sorry for the time factor to respond. Just going through old email now.
For the 2000 Odyssey. I was able to go to locksmith and get just a blank. No real issue. For the 2008 Odyssey, much different. I am working on a solution here. There is a SVC service key blank, no chip costs about $6 but then needs to be cut so it might be 10-15, but still much less than $50 or more for spare, replacement keys. I got it form my locksmith but you can see the key here : http://www.interwit.com/transponderkeys/ Honda 4 track test key -- they only want $2, but then get it cut.
My 2007 Odyssey has much too much wind (and/or road) noise with the front windows rolled down (and I enjoy driving with the windows down quite a bit, here in San Diego). Has anyone had experience with side window deflectors? If yes:
1. Do they reduce wind noise? Significantly? 2. Do they also reduce wind noise when the window is closed (rolled up)? 3. Do they have any drawbacks? (Do they come off? Do they inhibit the view?...) 4. What brand(s) are best?
The roll up custom fit 3rd party sunshades sold by many Honda dealers (about $25-29) work well. If not local, you can find them cheap at handa.com (which I believe is a northern California Honda/Acura dealership. You can also find heavy duty fold up sunshade made by Covercraft (also a perfect fit) online or even at J.C.Whitney (but that's close to $50. Folds fast though.) Honda windshields are very tall as you have noticed, and I never found a generic one that would cover the whole window well.
I came to exactly the same solution! I've called two places, though, and both want $25 to do cut it. One guy explained that a typical pin and tumbler machine won't cut it, and you need a high security key machine that costs around $3K, so they charge more. Still, I figure that's cheaper than paying a lock out service.
Fyi, when I called around to local locksmiths who'd cut a Honda key (with the chip in it), the cheapest I'd found would make me a key with the chip (so you could use it to start the car) but without the remote control (to open the doors) was about $75. They'd cut me a key without the chip (so I could get INTO the car but not start the engine - e.g. in case of a lockout) for about $25-35. Yes, calling around to find a locksmith who wants to make back some of his investment in the key cutting equipment and software can save you some bucks. Sure didn't want to pay what they wanted for a key with the remote control built in though. Ouch.
Where are you located? Best I found for cutting a key with the chip (and programming the chip so it would work) was $110 at Arlington Lock and Key in Northern Virginia. That was the same place that quoted $25 to cut a mechanical key (that doesn't have the chip and only opens the door).
I had a 2" hitch supplied and installed by Eckart but no wiring as it was just for the bike rack. Cost was over $200 installed but a very good quality product and job.
I inititally had one installed by U-haul but refused to accept the installation job and told them to take it off. They did and I left no problems. The problem with their hitch was that it protruded out past the rear bumper - rather dangerous for your shins. That was a major issue for me as I mostly use the back of the van for access to the dog crates and would have always been bumping my shins and knees on that hitch.
I am looking at the behind second seat cargo liner as I always have the 3rd row of seats folded away. I wish to also level the floor of the cargo area as I have dogs travelling in crates. The floor is so uneven (unlike my 2004 Odyssey cargo floor), that the crates rock if the dogs move inside the crates.
Do cargo liners help even the surface at all? Or will this long liner 'sag' to mold to the uneven floor?
I have a 2005 Odyssey with a sunroof and want to install an aftermarket flip down DVD player. Looking at the Valor RM-1028C 10.2-Inch Overhead Monitor. Concerned about having enough room to install with the retracting sunroof. Plan to take to a pro but don't want to order a model that won't accomodate the sliding sunroof/moonroof panel. Anyone been there done that?
Husker39-Have you found your answer yet? I also have an Ody EXL with gray leather and want to know how close the gray Weathertech is before I pull the trigger.
I wanted to know if other people have the same observations as I do regarding this vehicle.
Recently I visited a local dealer to look at and test drive the Honda Odyssey. After the visit I have several questions.
1. The digital clock. I found the clock difficult to read during the daytime. Reflections and its location way over on the passenger side of the dash and lack of contrast, made it virtually unreadable. Is it backlit during hours of darkness? Does anyone else have trouble reading the clock?
2. Electrical outlets. One in the front and one in the back! Could someone enlighten me as to to total lack of these items. There is one located on the lower front dash! The minivan that I drive now has 3 at this location.I use all 3 many times (my Iphone, her CD player and call phone.) How does one add more outlets at this location? And why the lack of additional oulets at this location? The 2nd row passengers have none! They either have to reach forward to access the front one or reach behind them to access the only one located at the 3rd row? Again, why the lack of these outlets? The 3rd row has only one outlet wat in the rear, driver side. My 2002 minivan has these outlets at numerous locations throughtout the vehicle. Why Honda reach the decision to offer only 2 in the entire vehicle baffles me. Children and adults nowadays use many different electrical devices requiring these type of eletrical outlets.
How do people get around this lack of outlets. I was told that one can purchase an accessory/adaptor that piggybacks into 2 or 3 outlets from a single one. Is this true? And what about the then need to run wires from the 2nd row passengers to either the front or rear locations? I see images of multiple strands of wires running throughout the vehicle.
3. The folding table between the front row seats. I don’t like it. It offers 2 additional cup holders for the front passengers (2 people 4 cup holders, if you include the 2 that are located in the dash!) Does driving the Odyssey make one that thirsty? In addition, this folding table offers a shallow tray and 2 more cup holders for the 2nd row passengers. In my 2002 Chrysler T&C I have a large storage bin that contains a 12 volt electrical outlet (hence the 3 12 volt outlets for the front passengers) located between the 2 front seats. Open the front panel of it to access the outlet and place the IPhone, cell phone, etc there and you have a handy, place for such items. Open the large bin in the rear of it for more storage (CD’s, maps, books etc.) The folding tray that is offered for the Odyssey has none of these practical features. So the question that I have is .does Honda offer a similar item to replace the folding tray? If not, is there an after market item to replace the folding tray?
1. Never noticed a problem with the clock on ours after 70k miles....not sure what the issue could be. It is backlit at night.
2. Unless something has changed for 2010, there are two outlets in the front bottom of dash with flip-down covers. I believe they're sandwiched between the seat heater controls. I just looked at pics on Honda site and it looks identical to ours. Years ago when you were lucky to get one cig lighter...someone made a 2 & 3 outlet piggybacks that plugged into a single outlet. That's the easiest fix. If i had items that required to be plugged in all the time, I'd likely hard-wire something for them because the plugs/wires annoy me. But I do agree, it's certainly a cheap feature and couldn't be a big deal to have more available.
3. Tray isn't my favorite feature either. It was a big plus when the grandkids were little and my wife could fold down the tray and walk to the back easily. But now that they're bigger I could stand more storage over folding it down. I have seen where folks have installed the 2nd row touring console in the 1st row. Looks very good but I haven't bothered with it on mine. I'm betting you could easily add several power outlets in the console as well if you wanted.
Every vehicle purchase is a compromise of some sort (unfortunately). I was more annoyed by the packaging at the time (2005 model) because I wanted a touring with 8-passenger seating. Had to settle on an EX-L with NAV/DVD but the EX-L lacks true auto headlamps and a trip computer. They have since added 8-passenger to the Touring so I've thought about updating, but that seems like a waste just to gain a trip computer and a couple extra gizmos. Vehicle drives terrific which is highest priority on my list.
Hey wake8260 - I guess I'd say "close enough" .... meaning, I have the 07 Ody EXL with gray leather, and have the gray weathertech floor liners (have had them for a couple years) and everything looks great. I'd have to go look in the car, I guess, to answer any specific questions, but I would not hesitate at all to get the gray weathertech liners.
I'd also recommend calling them - I think I did speak with them about the color before buying and they were very helpful.
I think I should get a commission from them, since I talk them up all the time - latest example: my wife's coffee cup had gotten pushed over, and it was pouring out the top for awhile before she realized. The front liners caught it all, and started channeling it out the driver's door onto the ground. Other than wiping things up and the car smelling like coffee for awhile, it was no problem. If that had been carpet - what a mess.
The 2 electrical outlets in the front are different. There is 1- 12 volt outlet and 1 MP3 outlet. I'll have to look to see if there is an adapter that one can purchase so that one can plug in more that one item into that front 12 volt outlet. If anyone knows where I can obtain one, please let me know.
Also, I would like to hear from anyone who has installed the 2nd row center console between the front row seats. I asked the dealer and was informed that that 2nd row center console is no longer available for the 2010 Odyssey. So I assume that one has to somehow obtain this 2nd row console in the aftermartket.
I have an EX-L and was also baffled by the lack of outlets. I actually made a plate that fits in the lower storage compartment (under the exsiting outlets) and adds two more 12v outlets and a 120v outlet powered by a power inverter.
You can purchase a splitter that will provide up to 4 outlets from the single one you have, but you may blow a fuse if you plug devices into all 4 outlets. You can order splitters from any number of places, but I know Amazon has several.
The extra outlets are a must. The folks at Honda were not thinking when they removed one of the outlets in the dash to add an Aux input to the radio. I have no idea why they couldn't have just drilled a hole anywhere else on the dash for that small plug and left the outlet alone.
