I did get the WeatherTech All Season Floor liners for all 3 rows plus I got the tray for the trunk cargo area.

The 2nd row floor liner is a one piece unit and it comes with a customer fit for this car but that fit does not have a cut out for access to the 2nd floor storage area. So if often access to the store area is something important to you then you have to weigh this set back against the pros of the added carpet protection the weathertech liners offer.

I will say when I bought the van and first saw the 2nd row floor storage area I thought that was a feature I would likely use very often. Now that I own the van I find I have yet to use it (been two months) even when I had the Honda OEM mats. Your question got me thinking about how accessible the storage is now that I have the one piece mat so I went to my garage to give it a test run and can say that you can still access the storage but you do have to curl the mat back. Personally I feel the weathertech are the way to go. Especially now that there is snow and salt on the ground in Chicago so the WeatherTech 2 mos update has 2 thumbs up.

FYI When I had the Honda OEM all weather mats they did have the cut, but the weight or maybe just the existence of something on top of the storage was still was a factor in opening the storage.

I've not found any aftermarkets that have similar access to the 2nd row storage. The OEM mats are cut in both directions so you can open the "port hole" or the entire hatch. I'm not generally a fan of OEM products, but for what we needed these were the way to go. We use that storage for dvd's/ammo/wifes purse/etc. and tend to get in there a lot while driving too. But I suppose if you tend to track a ton of snow/water in you might want something more aggressive. We try to knock the snow from our boots before getting in and that seems to keep water from pooling up. But I'm not extremely worried about keeping the carpet mint or anything, just don't want it to look like it's an old beater.

Thank you both for the input. I am very anal about my vehicles and was just wondering to about how much i would use the storage area. This July I will have a 4 year old that will be in the 3rd row a 2 year old that will sit behind the driver seat and an infant that will go behind the passenger seat. I put the middle seat down below for now so the pass thru is avaliable. Trying to do some damage control before July so I think weathertech is for me since i can't control everybody jumping in at once. I could always store the seat in the garage and see how much i use the storage area. i just purchased the van so have not used this area other then to store the seat. I guess going forward my needs could change and i will need to use this area more.

i had weathertech mats in my previous odyssey.
they worked very well - i recommend them.

for what its worth though, whoever makes weathertech mats also makes the honda mats.

get the "trunk"liner - it is very worth it

for the person looking for cross bars, depending on what you want to do with them, i would recommend looking at thule or yakima. there are whole systems based on their bars and you don't have to look for special clamps that fit just the honda.

what happens to the trunk liner when not in use? Do you store it in the garage? Pretty soon I will be needing 3 rows.

If you are talking about the box one that fits in the well, it stays in the van. The third row fits inside it.

Actually, rereading your post, it seems you must have the mat that covers the 3rd row when it is folded down. I don't have one, but I expect you have to remove it to put up the 3rd row.

Last evening I was at a dealer show room to see 07 EXL /RES;
Sales agent discouraged buying back-up sensors as an additional accessory, but advised to wait for 2 months; Honda is adding Rearview Mirror W/rearview Camera Display as an accessory option.

Can any one confirm this?

I have an Ody with the backup camera built into the NAV (large screen). I would also recommend the backup sensors in addition if you're concerned about backing safely. The backup camera has a lot of limitations due to sunlight wash, dirt on the camera, rain/snow on the camera, and a delay due to the system having to boot (on nav models). I'm guessing the screen is also very small on these models with it built into the rearview camera. The sensors are passive, in that they alert you to potential problems and you don't have to directly look at the screen.

I originally thought the sensors were redundant since it has a backup camera, but IMHO the sensors are far more useful as a safety feature. The Ody is just as big as a full-size SUV and has a lot of blind-spots particularly with a load of people on board.

I saw the threads about Weathertechs being better than the Honda all season floor mats. I went to look at both autoanything.com and weathertech.com. They have the same Weathertech mats but weathertech.com is much cheaper, but they charge shipping and tax whereas aa does not charge either. I guess I will ask for a pricematch at aa.

But my question is, did you opt for the cheaper all-season mats or the WeatherTech Extreme-Duty Floor Liners? Is it worth the extra cost?

I tried bothe the Honda All Season Floor "Mats" and the Weathertech Floor "Liners". I cannot honestly say how the Weathertech Floor "Mats" perform as I have not tried them.

In my previous post I stated I was very disappointed with the Honda All Season Floor mats, this hold true. Now that I own the Weathertech Floor Liners for a couple of months AND put them through the snow/salt test I can say I am very satisfied and do not regret my purchase.

There is a lot of floor ground to cover in a van. After having the short term Honda mat experience and previous mat experiences in other cars I personally find the weathertech floor "Liner" concept worth the extra cost. This is because the have a true 3 dimension fit made specifically for your van and a full surronding lip around the edge of the mat, kind of like the dish tray you may find in your kitchen. They also are easy to clean due not having a gazillion 1 inch deep groves in them which it looks like the mats have.

I have the WeatherTech all season mats in my Highlander and just yesterday I purchased the WeatherTech floor liners for my Odyssey. I looked at both of these at the showroom, while both are good and do their job well I feel that the liners are better suited to the Odyssey as the second and third row are one single piece and almost like a tray that will hold anything the kids manage to bring into the van.

I have seen the Honda all-season mats in my friends Odyssey and in my opinion both WeatherTech mats are better than the Honda mats.

WeatherTech may not charge tax if you are outside Illinois but I am not sure about this.

Placed an order online for ground shipping on Dec 25 and the set (front & back - dark tint) arrived on Dec 28.

The total was $106.95 (no taxes out of IL) for my 2007.

Automatic mirror and backplate on Odyssey/2000 (Year) LH/driver's side mysteriously disappeared. I can buy a mirror for $38, but with no backplate, which I am told, is necessary to attach mirror. Honda dealership told me that I must purchase and replace the entire mirror unit (for a lot of $), that they do not sell just mirror and backplate.

Does anyone know where I can buy a mirror with backplate attached, or just a backplate, new or used? Thanks for any thoughts!

I have the Honda All Season Floor Mats and am very disappointed in them. Water from melted snow runs everywhere. I am thinking about getting a set of Weathertech floor Liners also. Can you comment on how the water gets channeled over the door sills in the front row. Does it make a big mess on the door sill and does water run under the plastic piece on top of the door sill? I just purchased a 07 Odyssey EXL with gray leather and really need to purchase winter floor mats. Read some forum comments so I have been looking at the WeatherTech products and wanted to know which color matches best with the gray interior (Black or gray???) On the WeatherTech website it looks like the gray floormats are a light gray. It sounds like most of you like the liners over the mats. I am still trying to decide which style I should purchase mats vs. heavy duty floor liners. I would like some additional feedback if possible.

Update on performance of Weathertech Floor LINERS: I went to FL the last 3 weeks. Spend a lot of time in the car as we drover theire and several visits to the sandy beach. So update on the sand test gets an "A". Each time I went to the beach I was able to pull the mats out and just dump out any collected sand then light dust off with 2 paper towels. This allowed me to eliminate any sand, and I noticed when I pulled the liners the sand stayed collected in the liners, as opposed to blowing off into the carpet.

I recreated the Chicago snow test since I did not monitor what actually took place when we had snow. I just know we did not get snow on the carpet so I assume the mats collected the water and evaporated. To recreate the test I took 3 cups of water and dumped it onto the drivers side mat only. All the water stayed in the liner, then to my surprise the water did trickle out of the car in almost a magical way. The liners do in fact have a channel that directs the water out of the liner and over the plastic edge at door entry point. It appeared magical because it almost looked like the water was climbing uphill. I did see the clean water I put channel over the plastic honda edge, but I will say it used maybe a 1 inch width to channel water out and it did not back into the carpet. I decided to close the door after 1 cup flowed out and noticed it still channeled out of the car. I did notice approx 1 cup stayed in, which I suspect is a volumen that is managiable where gravity will take over. I did not want my wife to freak on this so I pulled the mat out to dump out the 1 cup and kind of clean it up. I noticed no water under the mat so the test kept all water in the tray as designed.

In short very very satisfied with the LINER concept.

I am sure this is more of a personal preferrence then anything. Despite these accessories being sold as Honda items I personally prefer to keep a car with parts that only come from the factory. When I purchased my first Ody Oct 2007 I choose to get the Cross Bars as I figured at least 1 time a year I need something like a 2X4 and I do not want it to put it into my new leather interior. I purchased this via the internet for $150 and installed myself. The other items you mention I would not take even for free as again I like to keep the original Honda look. One "other" item which I believe is a must have item are the WeatherTech (not the Honda Hvy Duty Mats) Heavy Duty Floor "liners" for all 3 rows plus the trunk tray, paid $320 and they are worth every penny. I am waiting for the USASpec iPod adapter to come out which shows the name of the song on the Navi screen, no release date just yet.

I have an 07 Ody EX-L

The dealer threw in the wheel locks for me - I think it's worth it because I've heard that if anything, the wheels are a really big target for theft. It used to be the radio but I hear that's not such a draw anymore. Probably a very low likelihood of theft anyway, but worth having, I think.

Mud guards: I put those on myself - got them from http://www.handaaccessories.com/. Easy to install, and reduces mess on the car body, and improves the look, I think.

Moonroof visor: I had the dealer do this one - negotiated it as part of the purchase. Probably easy enough to purchase and install, but having them do it puts it under warranty. Another owner of the same model who doesn't have the moonroof visor tells me that it makes a big difference to have it. Reduces wind noise.

Trunk liner: Also purchased from http://www.handaaccessories.com/ and "installed" myself (you just lay it in there - not very technically challenging!) I have to say I am very disappointed in this one. We had an 01 Ody and had the Honda trunk liner for it, and it was quite substantial. Unfortunately, you can't use it in the 07 Ody's. The new one feels quite flimsy, and it folds and 'crinkles'. It is not a quality product due to the materials used. And you pay an arm and a leg for it. The function is valuable though, if you put lots of kids' stuff and dog stuff and groceries and whatever in there (we do) since it keeps things clean and protects against the possibility of something leaking and making a mess. You just pull it out and dump it.

I got a cheap ($20) set of 4 rubber floor mats from Costco (two in front, two in back) which are okay. Sets like this are usually 4x that cost from what I've seen. But from what I've read on this board about the weathertech liners, I am seriously considering those for all 3 rows. They'll do a much better job.

The only other thing I have is a hitch, which I transferred over from the 01 Ody - it's an aftermarket Hidden Hitch.

If I were to put on cross bars, I would only go with a Thule or Yakima system. They'll be more sturdy and allow you to carry a better variety of things and handle more weight.

None of the other items you mentioned are of interest to me.

Aftermarket backup camera and display would be more important than any of those on your list IMHO.

Backup camera:

Trump that with the back-up sensors. I have both and the camera is just marginal as it's useless in many situations. The sensors work far better at a fraction of the cost (NAV system in my case....).

I used an aftermarket device I purchased at Pepboys for $100-$110. Camera mounts on license plate and is powered by 12Volts going to the reverse light-bulb. Transmits the signal to a small display you mount on the dash powered by the accessory outlet.

Maybe not as nice as the NAV / OEM version for sure, won't catch things the backup sensors might detect.

Not too expensive or difficult though for a DIY project.

I have thought about tackling the OEM backup sensors as a project.

No doubt the cameras are handy (when they're not covered in ice/snow/rain or washed out by sunlight) but the sensors are a far better safety device. I have an EX-L and did the OEM sensors on the rear (fronts don't interest me much). Not hard at all....more $$ than some aftermarkets but they come painted to match which is good enough plus in my book.

Actually, there's been a lot of kids (and pets) run over since the beginning of the automobile (many were just kicked before that). Even more so now that everyone is driving vehicles with larger blind-spots. Things you CAN'T see, which is why I say sonar is the safety feature of choice. The backup camera does provide some safety in that regard, but it's more of a luxury (i.e. getting the absolute most out of tight spaces). Have I really honestly 100% needed it? Nope, but the one time it goes off and a grandkid is standing behind the van for whatever reason.....

Of course there's always the opposite effect on some folks (like ABS....). Take a perfectly good safety feature and become less aware of your surroundings. Now when you're talking on the phone and drinking coffee you can not be bothered by actually checking your surroundings.....

Am I just too used to driving SUVs, with their high, wide, supple armrest/consoles, or are the driver/front passenger armrests on the Oddy (mine's an 08 touring) utterly deficient. Anyone done anything about it?

no i'm sorry. must have been another poster.

if you know how to use a drill and can make a small hole behind the license plate, then the only tricky thing on the install is routing the wires over to one of the backup lamps which is powered when the vehicle is in reverse. that powers the camera.

the way you get your wires from the hole made behind the license plate over to the backup lamp assembly is to loosen the bottom of the hatch's plastic paneling.

then i found, going to home depot, some heavy duty velcro (the stuff that came with the unit didn't have good adhesive to hold up under the heat of summer). i applied some to the dash above my side view mirror adjustments (driver's dash lower left), and the other to the back of the display. then to power the display, i used a "Y" adapter plugged into the accessory outlet. I ran my wire down the left side of the driver dash, under and behind the dash garnish near the pedals, and over to the "Y" outlet. it looks fine.

you may find this funny, every now and then i'll be in the vicinity of a shop using a wireless camera, and my display will show me the inside of the store, sometimes with people in the isle. once i was behind another car whose backup camera was transmitting all the time... i saw what their camera was looking at.

for $100, it has been a good project / value.

I had a 2004 Odyssey and right in the middle on the top was a hole with a rubber plug so I had not problem.

I now have a 2008 Odyssey and do not see any unused holes in the firewall. Need to put some heavy guage wires from the battery for Ham Radio equipment. Anybody drill a hole through the firewall or find an unused hole?

we will soon install on our Odyssey....I have them professionally installed $650 --4.5 years ago on our 2004 Nissan Maxima on hood, upper/lower bumpers, fenders, headlights, mirrors. It's expensive and so worth it.

Can someone tell me if you have to cut the mats for the 1st row (driver and passenger) seats. I just purchased the mats and it says to trim the sides. However, it's not clear to me how much overhang there should be.

I would be surprised if you needed to trim them. I installed them in all three rows for my 07 Odyssey and did not have to alter them at all. One of the things they market themselves on is a 'laser precision' fit. Having to do hand trimming work for something that should be designed to fit your specific vehicle seems odd to me. I would recommend calling them. I spoke to them before I purchased and found them to be very knowledgeable and helpful. I was interested in Weathertech based on all the comments on this board, and now I recommend Weathertech to others based on my personal experience with them - they are a quality outfit.

I have a much simpler method. I get the magnetic box, put it in the wheel well. I have used the velcro one but aftter a use or two I found it falls off. Also since the the keys are so expensive - I only use a standard blank that costs $2-3, with no chip. It can open the door but not the car.

Then I do find the spare key in the car - many different and great spots. This way I make it much harder to steal the car. However I never leave anything of expensive value in the car, when in the city.

i just bought Ody 03 EX-w/DVD and was wondering if the clock that's built in the dash is supposed to illuminate like the spedometer. Right now mine doesn't and it's impossible to see what time it is when driving at night. I'd think that honda would have thought about this...Any ideas?

any one has good experience with either one? I would like to keep the floor mat that comes with the car in place and place the all weather mat on top but it appears that weathertech recommend removing it. Anyone can share your experience? thanks

I have the weathertech for my 07 Ody and like it. I got it for all three rows. For the front row, I removed the factory mats and put in the weathertechs. I'm pretty sure I kept in the 2nd and 3rd rows and just put the weathertech's right over top of them. I put the front row factory mats under the trunk well liner - they fit underneath no problem and no interference with storing the 3rd row seat in the trunk well. Weathertech was very good to deal with.

I really like this idea. I have not been able to find place to buy the cheapie key. I tried Ace but they want 30 plus bucks, Walmart does not do it. Can you share where you bought the key for a few bucks ? Thanks...

Yes, I have the same problem. My solution is to push the right on/off switch above the rear view mirror which turns on the map light, look at the clock to see the time and then push the switch off again. Alternatively you can wait until you drive under a street light and then look at the clock. Those work for me ;-).
