That is the first gate, and it is soft. I tell ya, the Lancer and the Audi really dug some ruts. That there is about the worst, but at least it is in a straight line

    Holy Cow! Nice sideways shot!

Did she catch it, or spin?

in that first sequence of 2. The 3rd pic is after she lost it again. But then, in the exact same spot as the 1st 2 pix, she proceeded to get sideways and caught it. Twice! Yay! She learned pretty fast.

Yeah, it looks about 90 degrees already.

Where did you have the sway bar set?

Who said Outbacks can't do 4 wheel drifts?

    Sweet!

That's at 20mm. I think that's all it'll take without uprating struts which, as you know, can't be done because no one offers a performance part for the3 Outback.

Loosh, pretty soon you guys can open your own driving school. :-)

FYI: Just got a notice that PhotoPoint will no longer be a free service starting in mid-May.

If those of us with PhotoPoint accounts don't pay for a membership, the photo links we have here in TownHall will become invalid since PhotoPoint will lock your account out.

Bummer. And a lot of us have pics up there. Oh well. There's other sites like http://www.zing.com or http://www.imagestation.com (I think they're actually the same place though). At least there still free as of this message. I'll probably move my stuff to imagestation since I've ordered prints from them before.

And Juice just got done moving all of his photos too. DOWH!

$19.95 for a year, or $9.95 for the basic service ain't so bad.
  • ateixeiraateixeira Member Posts: 72,587
DOH is exactly right. I think these folks are targeting me specifically!

Forget that. I'm paying. No way I'm going to do all that work again.

Ouch. I guess it was bound to happen. :-(

Here's good news! Edmunds.com is still free!

I've moved my "Our Cars" photopoint album to imagestation. This album also includes the famous "Helicopter Landing Pad".

I'll move my Chicago Auto Show sometime this week.

yes, but is it making money, or are subscriptions on the horizon? ;)
  • ateixeiraateixeira Member Posts: 72,587
Brian - my driveway would rival yours if it were not on an incline.

Don't you hate shoveling snow? Wait - you have a Subaru, that's not necessary...

Re: making money & subscriptions - Well....I still get a paid, so it must be doing okay. ;-)

Here are a couple of other sites that have free photo hosting...for now.

    http://www.zing.com

You usually get what you pay for...

Personally I rather pay a little, than have the headache of having to move em around all the time.

They will all become pay sites eventually, once the VC runs out.

  • ateixeiraateixeira Member Posts: 72,587
Exactly. I had 272 photos on PhotoPoint, and if you add all the text editing, it would take a day or so to move them. My labor is worth more than $10 a day!

  • kenskens Member Posts: 5,869
Same here. I just forked over the $10 to keep my account with Photopoint. I'd rather pay some small fee instead of putting up with a slow server and dozens of ads.

If anyone's wondering - the PhotoPoint account sign up is now working. Earlier I was having trouble, but as of now they have my money!

here. I tried following the instructions on Townhall but I just get the "block" w/the red X in it.

    http://www.zing.com/album/?id=4292778075

    HELP???

    Thanks,

    Stephen

  • subearusubearu Member Posts: 3,613
I haven't figured it out either. Looks like Imagestation (aka Zing) only lets you link to the album and not directly link to a photo like PhotoPoint does. Bummer.

I wonder what the other free sites posted above do. Can you link directly to a photo from them? How about with a {img src} tag?

I've got some web space at my ISP that I'm not using, so I may just put my pics there. I know I'll be able to {img src} them at least.

    Nice ride by the way!
    -Brian
  • barresa62barresa62 Member Posts: 1,379
Yeah, I thought that might be the case w/Zing. I think I will do what you suggested and post from my web page once I load some photos there.
Also might try some other free sites...it would be helpful to find out firsthand at least.

Yeah, I like the "ride". I was a little "on the fence" about the silver color but I like it more and more (especially compared to having had to clean my black OB every waking moment).

Unfortunately, one motorcycle cop did! Last Fri. (a week ago...I've been withholding info) on the way to work this cop pulls me over, saying that he clocked me on radar doing 39 in a 30 zone. I don't think I was going this "fast" (?) as I was watching my rpms and had just shifted to 3rd. I was probably doing about 34 though. I was only a couple of blocks from my house. Anyhow, I thought the whole thing was pretty silly. Yeah, he got me on radar...but did he show me the gun, no. Besides, I don't have anything on my record so I sent it off in the mail requesting a court date.

Is it just me or do motorcycle cops have especially sour attitudes. It's like the big hogs their on have given them hemmoroids, the donuts are attached to their mid-sections, and the coffee is eating a hole in their stomachs!

No I don't have any energy about this whatsoever. :-)

Do we finally get to put a face to Stephen Barrett, nice car by the way, looks great in silver, they just made it to the dealers in Ottawa this week had a look at a silver wagon although it was raining so I did not spend to much time crawling over it I will go back when the weather is more hospitable, I made the mistake in the chat Thursday night saying they had just made it to Canada this week I think I insulted Ross as apparently unknown to me they have been around in Vancouver for a while, The guys in western Canada believe that the people in eastern Canada forget they exist.
    Cheers Pat.

Juice- Next time use "Low resolution" when you post a photo. The 56k users will thank you.

anybody heard about photopoint charging for hosting pictures with them?
  • p0926p0926 Member Posts: 4,423
Juice- At the end of your photo's link you should see "res=high". Just change it to read "res=low". The lower resolution looks just as good and is about half the file size.

DOH! Too late for an edit. From now one I will.

FWIW, I have a modem at home so I have to wait like everyone else!

Yeah, PhotoPoint is now $10 a year for up to 1000 photos. I was at 272 before, probably 300 now, and no way was I going to down load those again. No way.

SCCA Pro Rally Subaru Impreza WRX...team US and team Canada get basically the same car (note that they get the HID Xenon headlamps)

What is it with all these headlights getting so big? The old Lancer was far more attractive.

    -juice
  • drew_drew_ Member Posts: 3,382
Bigger for better illumination? Those roads on the night stages are pretty dark! Note that unlike the WRX, they don't have any seperate foglamps/driving lamps, so I suspect that it's integrated into the headlamp assemblies now. It certainly looks that way from the reflector design.

Check out Colin McRae's Ford Focus WRC car.

Need more lights! You can never have too many lights. Check out http://isuzu-suvs.com/trooper/hella4000.html

  • drew_drew_ Member Posts: 3,382
Mike, wait till you see the '02 ML's optional Bi-Xenons. Not only HID lights (projectors) for the low and high beams (auto leveling, of course), but they even have additional H7 halogen bulbs for high beams. Whee! The Bi-Xenons are a first for an SUV.

With the high beams on, this means a combined total of about 9600 lumens (at 4100K colour temperature) lighting up the road ahead! Probably even brighter than your setup :-) Option price, which includes headlamp washers, is $875. Oh yeah, and the HID bulbs are only 35 watts each.

Got my Chicago Auto Show pics moved to ImageStation (aka Zing). Something not posted on PhotoPoint was my video of the Jeep Waterfall display. It's at the end of the ImageStation album or it's here: http://www.imagestation.com/video/view.html?id=4272034341

paisan: I recognize that first photos - I took it! :-)

Drew: big lights on an SUV are one thing, but they look out of proportion on the Lancer. Look beyond all the EVO scoops, bulges, HIDs, and stickers, and you basically have an ugly econobox, IMO.

I liked the previous one much better. The new one looks like typical 80's era styling.

    -juice
  • paisanpaisan Member Posts: 21,181
    Hey I like 80's styling!

Also, so far from my experience with lighting, the amount of light that a bulb puts out is totally un-related to how good a light it is. For example, I have 100w high beam bulbs on my trooper in the headlight positions, and 100w fogs. But the Hella 130w Eurobeam lights (on the bull bar) put about 50x more light onto the road. From the lighting experts I've spoken to, they say that the lenses and reflectors are key, the more reflector and lens R&D a company has done (like Hella and Cibie) the better the lights. I think that is why there is such a range of prices for a set of lights, like $30/pair and pep boys v. $330/pair for my Hella 4000s. I'd love to replace the headlights on the XT6 with 2 Hella 4000s :)

Look at my Miata with sealed beams and then with E-codes. With the same wattage, the old ones look like they're OFF next to the E-codes.

  • paisanpaisan Member Posts: 21,181
Yep, I have the E-code Hellas in the XT6 already :)
