Yeah, as in I'll keep her if you don't. ;-)

Very nice alloys. They look sturdy, brutish.

Those are original Subaru alloys, you know. I absolutely love the car, and it's great to find so many other people who love theirs as well. Again, thanks for all the comments. I told my wife about me posting a picture and she absolutely thought I was kidding that anyone would respond so quickly and positively. The internet is an incredible resource. The Subaru is 100% stock except for the wind deflector and clear headlight covers. The ski/bike rack (and, yes the ski attachments are there, they're just folded back for better aerodynamics) is only on there because I used it to go get the Chistmas tree. We don't snow ski a lot here in Houston. We lived in Silverthorne, CO for 6 years before moving to Houston, long story. Bye,

Outback in background is brother's '96 Outback (Visiting from NJ)

In the midground on left- neighbor's '99 Outback.

My other '99 Outback Sport in my garage.

Around the corners and further up the street there's 3 Outbacks; 2 Outback Sports; 2 Foresters; 3 Impreza Wagons; 2 Legacy Wagons;... I keep losing count.

When I first bought mine, there weren't any except little brother's '96 OB

    Nice driving lights, btw.

when my side of the street may be mistaken for a Subaru Service.
Like I said, I lose count, there are at least an assortment of 2 dozen within a 3 block radius.
Hmmm... maybe I should try to gather them all for a "Drive" mag shot. :-)

I know what you mean about the proliferation of Soobs in your area. I live in Seattle and on my block alone there are 7 Soobs from various vintages. My WRX wagon is sandwiched between my neighbors 98'OB Ltd wagon and my other neighbor's 99'Forester L. Across the street is a 94'Legacy wagon. Further up the street are 2 late 80's Loyale wagons and a 95' Impreza wagon. The NW is a "strong" market for Subarus!

Your little bro started a trend. Way to go!

I finally took a photo of my dad's and my cousin's Outbacks next to my Forester. I left the diskette at home but I'll share it later.

I need to figure out how to post a picture of my 01 OB and do it. It just went on my to do list.

Dave - are all three of the OBs green? Hard to tell.

    L'il brother's and neighbor's are Sapphire.
I've got the Spruce Green (only because Sapphire wasn't offered for 'Limited').
Hmmm... I should make a list of what is in my nabe (color, model,...) I've got laze-time this weekend. :)

Greg - easy. E-mail it to ateixeira@ifc.org, and sit back until it pops up. ;-)

    Kate,
    those are some great shots!
    Good to frame.
The only 'Death Valley' like place we have around here (NYC) is Manhattan. Once you get in there (if you do), it'll be a long while before you get out (peak hours). :)

Very good pictures, Kate. Your efforts to get good shots were rewarded... Would've liked to see the big dust cloud though. ;)

Those pictures are superb—especially the first one! You should send them to Subaru's DRIVE magazine, along with your story of the trip. I bet they would get published.

Definitely submit that first pic to Drive. Gorgeous.

I too liked the stealth wheel and tire package.

One big, happy family. Sandy is up top, then Dad's OBLtd, and my cousin's Outback is parked on the street.

Go over to the Events topic. I posted a couple pics of this event. I will post more of my own pics once I get them developed. Lots of cars, almost 75 in total were there.

BTW, Juice: Great pics of your "family" :-) Get your wife to actually drive a WRX and may sing a different tune about it being too small. It would look great in your Subaru stable!

    Kate,

Amazing pictures! Very artistic and they convey your enthusiasm as a Forester owner! You really should see if Drive magazine will publish one.

So, how was the drive from the Bay Area? How long did it take? What route did you follow? That's something I'd love to do someday!!

  • hypovhypov Member Posts: 3,068
    Great looking line up!
I can only dream of a house(home) with a driveway like your. Looks like there's room for...2 WRXs. :-)
  • ateixeiraateixeira Member Posts: 72,587
If I can dream, give me a big SUW with 3 rows of seats for my wife, and a convertible SVX based on WRX mechanicals for sunny days. Heaven.

    Ken,
We stayed in Vegas and ventured to Death Valley every day. To Vegas, we took a route via Bakersfield -->Mojave --> Barstow -->Baker, and from Vegas to DV we tried two alternative routes, one via Pahrum being more picturesque. Bay Area to Vegas it takes 9 h, and Vegas to DV about 1.5-2 h one way.
    Definitely worth trying, IMHO.
  • nygregnygreg Member Posts: 1,936
pics Juice. Your dad's car looks like mine. :) Except I didn't go for the limited.

    Kate,

Sweet. I'm definetly going to try that someday!

Did you enjoy Vegas while you were there? What a contrast between the rugged nature of DV and the artificial glitz of Vegas.

It appears that Photopoint is "down for the count" at the moment. Hopefully it is only temporary....otherwise, there are going to be a lot of unhappy campers. :-(

It's been dead for close to a week... at this point (as a paying customer) I'd like to see a system-wide email saying "this is what is wrong and it will be fixed by X or we'll update you".

They can send out monthly emails and special offers but they can't send an outage notice after this long...

  • paisanpaisan Member Posts: 21,181
I find it funny personally. I never trust any of those on-line things even if you are paying for it. If anyone wants pics on the net, I can host at least some of them E-mail me your pics mike@iace.com

I am more than a little peeved. First, homepage.com dies. Then I move 272 photos to PhotoPoint, which was free at the time. So they smack me with a fee, and now it doesn't work at all.

Frustrating to say the least. Thanks for the offer, paisan, but I give up. I'll just e-mail photos to those interested.

    Unbelievable.

Keep your eyes on this page for updates on Photopoint. No use speculating at this point. But they better credit us for the lost time!

Spin Doctors are unbelievable. They had the nerve to write:

"We look forward to you being a future member"

Are they kidding? Use this outage coverage as a marketing tool?

imagestation is still free and up and running, despite losing zing. Sony has more capital, I guess.

No freaking explanation for the outage though. Grr....
  • kenskens Member Posts: 5,869
Yep, Photopoint seems to be back up again. Didn't realize they were down for a week. They could at least have some kind of message letting us paying members know of the status!!

    Dear Photopoint Member:

Um, yeah we closed the SF office and tried to overnight all the servers to Canada... a few things, um, didn't make it intact or at all and we had some troubles getting back up and running. We apologize for the extended outage but it was difficult to recover since we fired over half our staff. Thanks for your support and especially your money, and we will try to cover the bases better the next time we institute drastic cost-cutting!

    ;)

362,000 miles on it, owner is getting ready to perform a 2"lift and a chevy small block swap. Pines for a crew cab BRAT. I am not sure he'll be the ST-X type, tho'

Got this pic in Glacier National Park.

I guess the payload capacity is more important than we thought!

20% at first, 21% in the last press release. They're sneaking up on us! Tomorrow it'll be 22%, run for your lives! ;-)

    -juice
  • locke2clocke2c Member Posts: 5,038
21% sounds like a very large interest in a major corporation to me! it's not like there's a single entity that owns 51% of FHI and can tell GM what to do... no, I think GM is in the driver's seat.

Anyway I'd see no problems with a small block Impreza... Although a turbo buick V6 would probably be better. ;)

I worked at the local dragway (racetrack, dragstrip, whatever) way back when after highschool for a summer (wow, it's been ten years). I always was facinated by the GN's - especially hearing that turbo spool up on the burnout pad. While many off them were 'stock', there were plenty that were mod-ed and NOS-ed. Very fast for the time with a small engine - at least compared to those big blocks and such.

Still see a few in town actually.
